When I hear people throw out words like GOAT, do they mean for joshi ? best overall up to this point ? or simply GOAT ? I am new to joshi so I don't know the backstory which I'm sure hurts it for me. However, I will put this tag up against just about any other tag match I've seen not including the big 4 from AJPW. Since 6/9/95 is either my favorite or 1a,1b of all time I must ask, do people really like this one more than 6/9/95 ? I consider that to be the perfect tag match though it is not meant to be a knock on this match, which I loved.

Rebooking Bret Harts' first title run
slabinski611 replied to slabinski611's topic in Armchair Booking
I completely blanked on the streak. I haven't watched wwe on a consistent basis in years but I don't get the whole wm streak thing. I mean if you are booked against inferior oponents in many of those matches then it is easier to be undefeated. It's also a yearly thing which I don't think is a big deal when compared to something like the Goldberg streak. Maybe it's just me. As far as booking new stars, I was really only trying to focus on making Bret a stronger world champion with the idea that they can at least have him as a centerpiece. Bret ended up with a 6 month reign, 8 month reign, and a 4 month reign until losing to Shawn in the ironman. Even during his secong reign, he played backseat at kotr94 to Lawler/Piper and the tourney. Then his feud with Owen was secondary to the two Undertaker match. Definately seemed more like transitional champ than top guy to me. I will post KOTR 93 w/ qualifying results later. -
Rebooking Bret Harts' first title run

WMIX 1. IC Title: Shawn Michaels over Marty Jannetty in 17 minutes A restart of their feud from the barbershop incident from 92. 2. Doink over Crush in 8 minutes Pretty much how it happened. Matt Bourne was awesome as Doink. 3. Tatanka/Nasty Boys over Headshrinkers/Bam Bam Bigelow in 12 minutes Nastys last feud before leaving wwf. 4. Narcissist Lex Luger over Bob Backlund in 4 minutes. Squash match to showcase Luger. I felt the narcissist gimmick really fit Luger more than the lex express. 5. Mr Perfect over Razor Ramon in 13 minutes. After defeating Flair in a loser leaves town match on raw, Perfect shifted from a feud with Flair to a feud with Ramon. Ramon had been feuding with Savage who moved on after winning the rumble. 6. Tag Titles: Steiners over Money Inc in 16 minutes. After squashing teams every week since their debut, Steiners defeat Money Inc in a non title match on raw to earn a title shot. Steiners become new tag champs. 7. Undertaker vs Yokozuna NO CONTEST in 13 minutes A continuation from Yokozuna interfering at the rumble. Match ends in double dq. 8. World title: Bret Hart over Randy Savage in 30 minutes Leading into mania, both men gave sitdown interviews. Bret talked about leading a new generation of wrestlers into the future while Savage talked about it being his last stand and how it may be his last chance at winning the title. Post match sees Savage snap and attack Hart until Hulk Hogan makes a surprise return and makes the save. -
[1993-12-06-AJW] Akira Hokuto vs Shinobu Kandori

I am glad that I watched this after the dreamslam match and even more that I watched dreamslam first. This is definately not on the same level as the first match but it still comes off as epic and is a great match on its own. Makes me wonder why I never wanted to check out joshi before.- 16 replies

Rebooking Bret Harts' first title run
slabinski611 replied to slabinski611's topic in Armchair Booking
OK, so we have Bret win the title from Flair as he did since nobody was going to buy Bret as champ initially regardless of when he was given the belt and more importantly, I like having the Bret/Shawn match at Survivor Series. I will also keep Survivor Series 92 intact because I don't want to break up the Flair/Razor vs Savage/Hennig match. That leads us to Royal Rumble 93. 1993 ROYAL RUMBLE 1. Steiners over Beverly Brothers I see nothing wrong with giving the Steiners a showcase match on ppv but lets make it more of a squash to get them over stronger. Match time: 5 minutes 2. Yokozuna over Hacksaw Duggan This gets Yoko out of the rumble match and gets him an easy feud to go over strong in. Match time: 4 minutes 3. Tag Title: Money Inc over Nasty Boys While there were teams in the wwf, the talent was weak. The days of the Harts/Rockers/Buldogs were gone. Still, this could have been a decent match. It gets some better talent in the rumble match and gets another title defended. Match time: 12 minutes 4. World Title: Bret Hart over Ric Flair You can make the case that there was more sense in having Ramon in this spot but I would have liked to see a proper ppv match with these two. Flair submits to the sharpshooter. Match time: 35 minutes 5. Royal Rumble 1. Shawn Michaels 2. Bob Backlund 3. Papa Shango 4. Marty Janetty 5. Doink the Clown (Shango eliminated by Backlund) 6. Big Bossman 7. Jerry Lawler 8. Max Moon 9. Berzerker (Janetty eliminated by Michaels) 10. MR. Perfect 11. Skinner 12. Bushwhacker Butch (Berzerker eliminated by Bossman) 13. Headshrinker Fatu (Max Moon eliminated by Doink) 14. Bushwhacker Luke (eliminated 30 seconds later by Michaels) 15. Undertaker (Skinner/Doink eliminated by Taker,Butch eliminated by Lawler) 16. Terry Taylor (Bossman eliminated by Taker, Lawler/Perfect eliminate each other) 17. Crush (Michaels eliminated by Taker,Fatu elimated by taker, Taker eliminated by Yokozuna via interference) 18. Bam Bam Bigelow 19. Tatanka 20. Nails 21. Earthquake (Taylor eliminated by Crush, Crush eliminated by Earthquake) 22. Samu 23. Typhone 24. Razor Ramon 25. Randy Savage 26. Rick Martel (Typhone eliminated by Earthquake,Nails eliminated by Backlund) 27. Kamala 28. Owen Hart (Samu eliminated by Santana,Earthquake eliminated by everyone) 29. Repo Man 30. Tito Santana I put Yokozuna in the Giant Gonzalas role because I see him as a lesser evil in this situation. Fuji is seeking revenge for Undertaker squashing Berzerker who Fuji manager at the time. That leaves us with 10 guys remaining in the rumble match Wrestlers remaining include: 1. Savage 2. Backlund 3. Bigelow 4. Ramon 5. Kamala 6. Martel 7. Santana 8. Owen 9. Repo 10. Tatanka Repo is eliminated by Savage. Kamala is eliminated by Bigelow. Tatanka is eliminated by Ramon. Owen is eliminated by Ramon. Santana is eliminated by Martel. Martel is eliminated by backlund. Final Four: Savage,Backlund,Ramon,Bigelow Ramon is eliminated by Savage. Backlund is eliminated by Bigelow. Bigelow is eliminated by Savage. To be continued with the lineup and storylines for WMIX. -
I will first admit that I am stealing this idea from the WM8 thread. The 2nd thing I will admit is I don't think there was anything the wwf could do to draw business once the fans were tiring of Hogan. What I do know is I hated the year of yokozuna and the lex express. So what I am going to do is rebook the ppvs starting with the 93 rumble through WM10. I will include brief paragraphs explaining why wrestlers are feuding. To be continued.

This! Seriously, Jake was the man at promos, ring presence, and can play both face/heel but when the bell rings to start the match, it's over.

[1993-04-02-AJW-Dream Slam I] Akira Hokuto vs Shinobu Kandori
slabinski611 replied to Loss's topic in April 1993
I am new to the board or at least I should say I am a longtime lurker who just started posting. I have never really had any interest in trying joshi wrestling as my favorite is AJPW. I did however just check this match out on youtube and I was left stunned right from the opening. To say both of those girls put on a manly performance is an understatement. The hate, the blood, the tombstone on the table. LOVED IT. All of it. I really can't remember I saw a match as good as that one. I have no idea where this match ranks alongside other womens' matches out there, but I am interested in hearing some recommendations of what to check out (youtube, daily motion etc, only).- 21 replies

[1992-04-05-WWF-Wrestlemania VIII] Ric Flair vs Randy Savage
slabinski611 replied to Loss's topic in April 1992
At one point, I had this in my top 5 wwf match of the decade. While it may not be THAT good, the post match pull apart along with the promos are a thing of beauty. Perfect throwing a tantrum while Flair stands there a bloody mess talking about Savage holding the tights to win. Then cut to one of my all time favorite promos of Savage talking about he didn't beat Flair up properly yet was awesome and imo the highlight of the ppv. -
[1992-05-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Steve Austin vs Barry Windham (2/3 falls)
slabinski611 replied to Loss's topic in May 1992
What were the reasons behind the 2/3 falls matches at the time ? Both kayfabe and legitimate. Regardless, 1992 was an awesome time for wcw workrate wise.- 15 replies

If it weren't for this match, I would not have ordered wm that year. It may not have been a great match but I loved the chaotic nature of having your upcoming opponent interfere on your behalf so that they can face you for the title. With no internet at the time, I was sure Bret would win because I couldn't see the appeal of Sid/UT for the title. Then we get the Bret tirade which is still my favorite moment from Raw. What were the reactions like online after this raw as I was in total shock that they would allow cursing on tv. This also has to be one of the first times someone got physical with Vince. Awesome stuff.

[1995-12-27-WCW-Starrcade '95] Ric Flair vs Sting vs Lex Luger
slabinski611 replied to Loss's topic in December 1995
I remember liking this because of the match layout. I don't really care for triangle/threeway/triple threat match with a few exceptions but this was fun. It's not worth going out of your way to see, but still fun. On a side note, what was with wcw and Starcade ? That is supposed to be your big money show of the year and they kept turning it into a concept ppv. 1989/ironman challenge, 1990/tag tourney, 1991-92/battlebowl, 1995/world cup. It is like having the wm4 tourney sandwiched in between years of Hogan/Andre and Hogan/Savage. Even then, at least that was a tourney for the world title. Any clue as to why wcw repeatedly screwed around with Starcade so much ?- 11 replies

I believe Savage's body of work holds up much better over time compared to some other guys from late 80s-mid 90s wwf. Take Dibiase for example. While he has a memorable gimmick, his best stuff was in mid south. Curt Hennig also had a great gimmick but his best stuff was in the AWA. Savage had was great at both face/heel, promos, selling, offense, and like it has already been said, his intensity put him over the top. It's his intensity that makes his feuds memorable along with the fact that he always took it up a notch on ppv. Great angle and matches from the Steamboat feud. Memorable feud with Honky even if the matches weren't so good. The only reason to watch WM4. Memorable feud with Hogan. Huge match with Warrior at WM. Awesome feud with Jake Roberts. Not quite as awesome performance against Flair at wm. I also thought he showed that he still had something left in WCW. There was the ddp feud and I seem to remember liking the Flair matches at the time. Two questions someone can answer for me. How was the Savage/Tito series from 86 and how does the Savage/Poffo vs Rock n Roll Express match from 84 hold up ? That used to be one of my favorite matches when I was younger but I haven't seen it in many years. It is the piledriver on the table match.

Looks like I fumbled my first post. I feel like Fred Ottman when he first appeared as the shockmaster.

First, I would like to say hello to everyone as this is my first post. The idea I had was if you booked a 10 match card using matches that have taken place to see how good your card would look. There are two rules. 1. You can only use a particular wrestler once. For example, you can have Bret Hart vs Steve Austin from wm13. You can't have Bret or Austin in any other match on the card. Using Royal Rumbles/Battle Royals is not recommended. 2. You can only have a particular title represented once. You can have Hogan vs Savage from wm5 but you can't have that and Flair/Steamboat from Chitown. Even though they are seperate companies, 1 world title per card. Same goes for World Tag titles. It is ok to have any combo of IC/U.S./TV title as long as each belt is only represented once. It is ok to use foreign matches as well as U.S. as long as they follow the rules above. Here is a card I thought of. 1. Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon IC Title WM10 (LADDER Match) 2. Eddy Guerrero/Art Bar vs Octagon/El Hijo Del Santo (When Worlds Collide) 3. Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior WM7 (Retirement Match) 4. Midnight Express vs Fantastics CLASH1 (U.S. Tag titles) 5. Undertaker vs Mankind KOTR98 (Hell in a Cell) 6. Rock n Roll Express vs Ivan Koloff/ Krusher Kruchev 7/9/85 (World Tag titles) 7. Bret Hart vs Steve Austin WM13 (I Quit ) 8. The Rock vs Hulk Hogan WM18 9. Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs Mitsu Misawa & Jun Akiyama 12/6/96 10. Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat CLASH6 (2/3 Falls World title)
