Ciampa cosplaying as Triple H.
-
Yeah, I can't even keep the teams straight and do not care about anything that's happening or anyone it's happening to. WarGames really works best when at least one of the sides is the hot heel stable of the day.
-
I'm not feeling this match. The fact that a heel has to wrap a chain around the cage door just to "lock" it tells me that everyone in this company has completely lost sight of what a cage match - and WarGames - is supposed to be. Edit: And why does there need to be a ladder and other plunder? The stipulation is strong enough to stand on its own. But that's modern WWE for you, I guess.

At first I thought it was odd that Shotzi was the team captain instead of Rhea Ripley or literally anyone else on her team, but then I realized, none of them need it. They're all already big stars in NXT (and WWE in some cases). Shotzi is not (yet) in comparison.

Women's WarGames starting things off... I miss Mauro.

Could be a good one... His first good one in a while, according to some of you. -

I think it works better for Dawkins, or at least isn't distracting. With Kassius Ohno, his gear was an eyesore and a distraction. But pointing that out here got people accused of fat-shaming. No, but he is a big, beefy, meat-slapping man, so it's not fat-shaming to suggest that he'd be better served in gear more suited to his look and body-type. There have been similar discussions about Keith Lee since he got demoted to Raw and had his gear changed for no reason. -

Well... If Ric Flair or a critical/internet darling like Becky Lynch did this, everyone would be jumping over each other to praise their "dedication to the BIDNESS!" But because it's Lana, and "she can't work, BRRRRRRRRROTHER," everybody mocks her. -
Great post, @El-P. I have nothing more to add. Just wanted to acknowledge that.

Wednesday: AEW announces working relationship with Impact. Thursday: Triple H On WWE Working With Other Promotions: "We’re Open For Business" (WrestleZone) A completely coincidence, of course.

Very intriguing thought. I wonder if they'd also get Impact Plus and rebrand it AEW Plus or something like that.

I'm sure you didn't necessarily mean it that way, but this is a pretty gross and sexist post, man. I'm not one to "virtue signal" on this board - like the clowns here who went apeshit* because a couple of us had the temerity to point out that, yes, Kassius Ohno looked like absolute shit in basketball shorts or whatever his awful excuse for "gear" was - but your description of Lana basically paints her as a Blanche DuBois-level slut. I realize you were aiming your post more at the depraved "dudebros" who would buy her dress for that reason, but you're also implicating Lana in knowingly engaging in such a transaction. *If any of you reading this were one of those clowns - sorry, not sorry. -
For any first-time or lapsed Impact viewers tuning in because of AEW, here's what I've found: - If you have the channel AXS, you're good to go - Impact is there. For everyone else: - It's on Twitch, but the site and app are total trash, and Impact's Twitch channel only does live feeds - nothing is archived (unless I'm missing something). There's no Apple AirPlay functionality either, so I can't AirPlay it to my Roku. Instead, the app has its own casting system that wants access to my local network. How about no? - On Impact Plus, the Dec. 1st (yesterday's) show is already there. I assume new shows are added the day after they air, but that's good enough for me. That show is accessible even without a login on both the site and Roku app. So, I'd say Impact Plus is the way to go for this if you don't have AXS.
-
I think I have a free account there, but when do they add the newest shows? Edit: The Dec. 1st show is already there, so that answers my question! I assume it's added the following day, but that's good enough for me. Edit 2: Accessible even without a login on both site and Roku app. GREAT news!!!
-
Just tried Twitch to see if I could access Impact that way. Site and app are total trash, and Impact only does live feeds - nothing is archived (unless I'm missing something). WTF are they thinking?! Edit: No Apple AirPlay functionality either, so I can't AirPlay it to my Roku. Instead, the app has its own casting system that wants access to my local network. How about no? Epic fail! Next week, everyone will want to watch Impact and no one will be able to. Just kill this company, because it's already dead.
-
I thought it was handled awesomely. Callis saying "find out this Tuesday" and then the interview saying, "You mean Wednesday?" and Callis correcting him with "No, this Tuesday on Impact." Agreed. I'm intrigued. I just hope AXS (who? what?) isn't the only way to watch the show, because that's a network no one has heard of and even less people have, so generating interest doesn't help if no one can actually access your product. I thought Pluto only had old TNA/Impact shows? Or did something change and they now have new episodes of Impact live or the following day? Been a while since I've looked at the app.
-
The main event was not a great match (IMO), but man, what a great story. (That describes the whole show, really. Matches were just okay, but some damn awesome developments.) I am definitely intrigued. Now, how the hell do I watch Impact? I don't have AXS.

Don't get me wrong: I don't hate Kazarian. I just don't think he's a credible opponent for Jericho. The result was obvious even before the match began. While that may be true for most of Jericho's AEW opponents, those matches weren't billed as "first time ever" like they're something special, which this wasn't IMO. Also, I wasn't comparing Kazarian to Gillberg. Rather, I was just listing another "first time ever" match off the top of my head to highlight why that phrase doesn't necessarily mean anything. BTW, Kazarian was in WWE. He was forced to cut his hair. He told them to shove it. Ironic, because he now has short hair. But I agree with him pushing back on what was one of the stupider "only Vince" policies in WWE. Everyone back then had short hair, or a version of it (except Triple H, of course), and most looked terrible. Christian is probably the only person that edict actually helped.
-
Am I wrong to not care about this match and view it as Jericho vs. a tomato can? 22 years and Frankie Kazarian is still an opening card guy. This match happening for the "first time ever" means nothing to me. Roman Reigns vs. Gillberg would be "first time ever" too, but that doesn't mean I'd care. Doesn't help that the match completely stunk. I don't know if it was a clash of styles or just Jericho getting older and slower, but this was not good.

Watching Wednesday Night Wrestling for the first time in a while... I joined in progress, so I missed most of the battle royal, but I'm definitely intrigued by Mox vs. Omega.

If Pat Patterson had only created the Royal Rumble, he'd be a legend. If Pat Patterson was only the first Intercontinental Champion, he'd be a legend (yeah, yeah, I realize the tournament never really happened). If Pat Patterson was only responsible for mapping out some of the best matches in WWE history, he'd be a legend. If Pat Patterson was only the first openly gay wrestler, he'd be a legend. But he was all of those things and more. Anyway, I've never believed the Pat Patterson allegations - not for a single split second. There is an ugly history of homosexuality ignorantly being equated to interest in underage boys. I wish I could say that was a relic of the past, but there are still people who think that way. Yes, in 2020. Plus, Superstar Billy Graham admitted to lying about the whole thing, so there's that...
