This is Drake's public profile picture after all:

He doesn't deny it but he's still a buffoon: I remember looking up his Facebook the other day and feeling like I came away dumber than I was before. The mental leaps he (and the politician he endorses) baffles me.

For whatever it's worth, the next AEW PPV is 93 days away.
-
Just in time for the supposed next round of talent cuts coming next week, then.
-
It's here He's almost full time at this point. The highlights: there's a couple matches vs Solar, a Virus match and then against Hechicero. I'm still trying to find the latter two, though.
-
Have you watched his latest run from the last few years? There's the Dandy feud which is, of course, a step below their classics but still nostalgically good and a Sangre Chicana hair match. The latter is sad to see how Sangre's body isn't holding up any more but Satanico is a master at keeping it all together.

I really need to go back and watch his stuff it seems. I never came away from his IWRG work thinking much of him. He's a good tubby guy but that's his ceiling for me. If we're limiting this to unhealthily overweight luchadores, he's clearly better than Nino Hamburguesa but I find Nino more entertaining to watch.

WWE makeup department are really bad at their jobs. That picture is something I would never imagine happening in 2013. Amazing. Also, Rush + Andrade in AEW would be fantastic. Actually, Rush basically anywhere except RoH would be fantastic. Lemme go cry in a corner because that won't happen.

We also have Herodes who (almost successfully) lost his mask 3 times in 3 different arenas in the same week back in 2001. 2x against Atlantis and 1x against Mascara Sagrada - the latter the crowd, having read about it in Lucha 2000, were PISSED so he just dropped the mask and they wrestled a straight match. With the internet, it's become a lot more difficult to do but it still happens. Metalico wrestled two days after losing a retirement match to Virus. I don't think Andrade will go back to it, he's a lot more marketable without it, in my opinion.

His match against Fujinami in CWA was a thing of beauty.

They are set to have a Friday show (Renegade) starting once things move back to Wednesday, it seems.

I spat my drink at the "there's only room for one Khan in the wrestling business ... and it's not some Khanman/conman from Connecticut." Beautiful.

Sigh. I actually can't think of a more frustrating promotion than EMLL/CMLL has been. The obvious money matches they've pissed away over the years is frightening. Just in the last decade we could have had Wagner/Parka (lol Psycho Clown???) and Parka/Rush. Though, I guess, their business model is bulletproof at this point. They can royally piss off their fans (that UG/Atlantis/Volador/Sombra "bait and switch") and still make a fortune later on. They also have Dinamitas Jrs and Atlantis' kid to run that well dry over the next couple decades.

If he had been offered a million dollars to be in the same room as Santo, he'd have not only declined but also blocked you. He cut off a 7(?) year agreement with IWRG purely because they wanted to use Santo in a match. Anyone even dared to acknowledge Santo or attempt to use them, Paco would no longer do business with you. Vince can seemingly bury the hatchet if it makes his bank account bigger. There's a long Alonso Shitlist of wrestlers he felt "betrayed" him and forever banned them from being mentioned by CMLL guys. You have the obvious guys like Octagon and Konnan but nobody would ever know what would set Paco off. Even when Pena died, he refused to offer any tributes or acknowledgment. Pena was the reason for a LOT of EMLL's character successes so he should at least have offered a QEPD graphic to say the least. EDIT: is his daughter carrying on the legacy? I had heard she was more open to rekindling lost relationships but I've not much kept up with the promotion.

WWE should just get it done with and hire the IWRG guys. Drunkenly joking about and singing karaoke at random times during matches would make Raw a lot more palatable.
-
It's his name. I'm not sure how US trademarks work, but I don't think WWE have any justification in forcing a wrestler NOT to use their name. The rest of that is pretty special.

Can I just put the Tamura match on repeat?

Cody mentioned on Gamespot's wrestling podcast that his American Dream promo wasn't an on-the-spot comment but the product of weeks of discussion and "focus group" input If the focus group is his reflection and Brandi then I'd believe that... but WTF? This has to be a work, surely.

Well, there's a highlights clip of him taking Casas hair in Juarez (bullshit ending it seems) and a bit of the scuffle after taking La Fiera's hair (which looks fucking amazing) so more of his stuff exists on tape. Only to find out who has it and how to get it. Fantastic write-up, btw. I'm in a very similar position here, in that, if it was down to favourites (or highest peak) he'd easily take this. Some deaths in wrestling are shocking but I don't think I've ever been saddened by the death of someone I didn't personally know as much as I did as a 14 year old reading about him. If I'm honest with myself, I don't see him as a top-tier candidate because he just doesn't have the output. I did a deep dive into his Mexican work and it just doesn't come across as someone whose style fit the matches he was in. It's really strange, in hindsight, because we have that random Juarez tag where he looks like he belongs. Once he hits Japan things seem to come together and he "gets it" (again?) but I still never thought any of his work was exceptional. You get the mindbogglingly good '97, then a slump until 2003 (a period I tried revisiting but just came away underwhelmed because it wasn't "Eddie" - even if the work was consistently good, it wasn't anything noteworthy) all before he starts making a huge case, again, and just becomes a world-beater in 2004 until his death. I agree that it's a massive "what if" and we can't rely on that in making his case but I want to rate him high. Terry Funk is my #1, and I don't see that ever changing, but even he didn't come all that close to Eddie's highs. Nobody did for me. Nobody connected with me like Eddie did.

Of course, I 100% agree with that. I more meant people already within the bubble. I'll spoiler this because it's not PWO:

WWE TV 05/24 - 05/30 Ja Morant is the greatest person in Memphis ever
Rah replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
I'm probably out of context here but, listening to his apology, he never once admits to apologising for Taiwan being a country. The only thing he mentions, relating to the interview, was that he was fed a lot of information (and seemingly wrong at that) as well as that he loves the Chinese. The statement he made in the interview was "Taiwan is the first country to see the movie". He could simply be adjusting that to include China, as well, as not to snub them (considering the tensions between the two). Here's a translation of what he said: -
Ah, yes, Matt Morgan the famed WWE superstar. As someone from a different country, and very far removed from the reality of these organisations, I'd think they're noble causes. I'd might even support them if I didn't know any better. It's ingenious (in a sad and pathetic way) that they've managed to control the narrative where anyone speaking out against them will look like anti-child trafficking weirdos. I thought proselytizing was the height of psychologically trapping people into your beliefs but this is a whole other "us/them" ballgame. Back to PWO, is TNA still that irrelevant that Drake doesn't even mention them here?

Ntombifuthi If you take it through Google Translator it will give you "girl again" but the real context is a lot worse. I feel bad for someone with this name, really.
-
If it wasn't a gimmick name, I guess it wouldn't sound awful as its evident as a name in many languages. It's just the connection it has that makes it so outlandish - though that's not much different to a lot of English (first) names. I say this coming from a country where a popular name literally means "oh, god, another girl".
-
That's a lot of spoofing to target a (relatively) unknown celebrity. It's definitely plausible but I'd think highly unlikely. "I was hacked" is this generation's "I was drunk".
