The fans were kind of ruining things with their stupid "Two... Sweet" bit every single fucking time there was a two count all night. First time seeing Velveteen, and he sure won me over. That match was amazing. Hero/Lars was every bit the hoss battle it needed to be. I'm so happy for Andrade, even if the match was a tad bit disappointing. Maybe Drew got hurt earlier in the match but fitted through until the finish where it became very noticeable.

Least Favorite Wrestling Move/Strike in Pro Wrestling
cubbymark replied to TheU_2001's topic in Pro Wrestling
I can't stand Kazuchika Okada Rainmaker. Having seen it live at ROH'S Global Wars in Chicago, I can confirm it's just a shitty clothesline. -
I blame you for jinxing things. Or someone in the CMLL office is reading Rob Viper's tweets and doing the exact opposits.

Togi Makabe's King Kong knee drop. It even sounds awesome.

Matt, that reminds me. A very subtle point that the commentators did make was that Casas wasn't quite able to get Hechicero in the Casita because they felt Casas got a cramp in his leg, and Casas shakes it enough that you could tell Hechicero's mat work had taken its toll on our hero.
-
I'm going to echo the love for Casas/Hechicero. It's still amazing that Negro Casas can still put out these amazing performances in his mid-50s. His mat work was real good and he held his own with Hechicero, pulling off some neat holds and a gorgeous sharpshooter to win the second fall. He got some great elevation and impact with his silla to the floor in the 3rd fall. He took some pretty sick powerslams, and man alive, Casas has balls for taking that musclebuster towards the end of the match. Edit: Matt, what you could do is to bring your smartphone and take an extended "bathroom break" as the Clio with postmatch interviews runs 20 minutes.

As disappointed as I was that Casas finished as low as he did, I am tickled to death that Misterio beat out Kawada and Kobashi on this list.

Good Will Wrestling: Greatest Wrestler Ever Series

Will, any word on when you're going to re-record or post the GWE with El Boricua talking Puerto Rico? I'm really looking forward to it. -
This is true of my ballot, where Casas was my #1 and Bockwinkel was my #2, in no small part to Matt D's pitches and me binging on Bockwinkel footage when he passed away.
-
I would have thought he'd be elbow dropping his jacket.

And the generous guy who started it is giving the winner (if there is one) $10. The winner should get a comp set of their choice from the thread starter... Although I would suspect the topic starter would just give out Jerry Lawler comps to further prove his thesis that Lawler is the greatest ever. My predictions for the purpose of this contest, not how I want the Top Ten to shake out, since my #1 has already been revealed as finishing 22: 1. Flair 2. Hansen 3. Funk 4. Misawa 5. Daniel Bryan 6. Kobashi 7. Lawler 8. Liger 9. Mysterio 10. Kawada

And he's better than Lance Storm.

If that were the case, I don't think as much time and effort would have been put into this project. It would just be a bunch of names off a list In spite of my disappointment today, I applaud all the time and effort you have put in to make the project as accessible and informative as you have, Grimmas. I still reckon the AJPW pillars would still have ranked as high as they are going to even if the voting would have been limited to Parv, Dylan, and the most vocal PWO posters/podcasters even if the style is not something I find appealing.
-
Agreed, but only 70% of voters voted for lucha. Such is life, I guess. Weren't you alluding to the #22 being shocking in some way? I can't remember the post. Now I know why.
-
I love Bret too, but he's not better than Casas, either.
-
I love Regal as much as the next person, but for him to finish one spot above my #1? That's not a gut punch, that's a low blow. Today sucks.

The one issue I have with this is the sheer volume of Negro Casas we now have post 2006 @s CMLL has joined us in the 21st century with all the live streaming they do. It's to the point you can watch Negro do his thing in Puebla as it happens if you really want to. And during this period of time when most guys decline, it seems Negro is at his prime, taking crazy ass bumps that his nephews Tiger and Puma wouldn't take.

Good Will Wrestling: Greatest Wrestler Ever Series

We still have Jushin Liger's hair. -
I think Steven is saving this quote for when Bret Hart drops.
-
Sometimes I wonder if I ranked Casas low. Which is almost impossible. Almost. Did you rank Casas over Bockwinkel?
-
Watch more lucha. Watch more Puerto Rico. Watch more Portland and Memphis. You have ten years until the next one, so there's plenty of time to fill in your gaps: WoS, All Japan pillars, Joshi, currently the indy wrestling. No telling if someone just starting on the independent scene will grow leaps and bounds like Sam Zayn.

Destroyer belongs for reigning in that piece of shit Mil Mascaras whenever they wrestled.

When this project started I pretty much penciled in Benoit as my #100. I recognized his ability and I was a huge fan of his. But I still have trouble getting past the horrible tragedy of June 2007. We as a whole have learned a lot about brain injuries and CTE, and as a result I do have a bit of guilt in enjoying a style that led to Benoit to end up doing what he did. As a result, my emphasis on viewing stopped being so much about "MoVez and work rate and headdrops" being what determines a great wrestler. It's caused me to reevaluate what I value in wrestling and what I can appreciate.

I had Virus and Kerry on my ballot, although I had Virus in the mid 40s and Kerry towards my bottom quarter. Amazing achievement for Virus to have made the top 100, even at the very low end. In time, he'll get to add to his case if he gets to feud with Dragon Lee II in the future. Dragon Lee II will be someone to keep your eye on for this list in ten years time.

By my count, Superstar Bill Dundee made it? As bummed as I am Colon just missed, this kind of softens the blow.
