Could you do me a favor real quick, Bill? SHUT IT! No you ShuT iT, WhippERSnappER! Thanks, like I said I was afraid I was being a bit too hall monitor. Because at the end of the day there are lots of people who have been here way longer than me and contribute far more/better content; steeping on toes is not my intent (except for the aforementioned whippersnapper.)

I don't know Sitterson, and I have yet to listen to the episode. I'll say this much though, I'd never label Will as negative. Sure, he will state his opinion on aspects of wrestling that he doesn't like, but that's what any discerning fan of something should do. However, at the end of the day Will is a great guy to discuss wrestling with, or to listen in on his discussions about wrestling, because he has his opinions and still manages to remain generally upbeat and a lover of professional wrestling. I would say though, that I think a deep breath needs to be taken by some people who are getting riled up. Sitterson's "bitter nerd" comment isn't called for, but there have been similar statements in here that are accomplishing the same thing, just adding fuel to a fire that doesn't need any more fuel. I think the original approach of Will is what we should be aiming for here, state why we disagree and remain calm throughout because if we resort to the same level as the "bitter nerd" labeling then we're doing nothing but falling to to a level we don't want to be on. I'm not trying to be a hall monitor either, just realized I may be coming off that way. I just hold this place to a pretty high level and think we've built a pretty swell community of open minded individuals who I enjoy discussing wrestling with. If at the end of the day Sitterson is not someone with whom we enjoy discussing wrestling then let's just let him be, because he's not worth getting riled up over.

Also, just wanted to add that I'm very proud of the work I do for The Tag Rope, as well as the work put in by many others. Pedro Carvalho is an amazing artist who comes up with some great illustrations for the magazine. Oli Sandler contributes some really swell looking photography. And the writers all have their own voices and produce articles that cover a wide range of topics and present varying opinions. I'm not sure of any other magazine that would not only let me but welcome a 1,000 word article about Bunkhouse Buck versus Dustin Rhodes. So, yeah, give the magazine a chance, it's pretty swell.

WrestleMania Weekend - Everything but Mania
BillThompson replied to goodhelmet's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not being a dick when I say this, but generally when the VoW guys or Rob Viper (all of whom I like and respect very much) say they thought a match was boring and sleep inducing I know I'm going to like it. Thus, I'm pretty sure I will really like Thatcher/Gulak and hate Fox/Gargano. -
I'll admit to not being familiar with Sitterson, or his work. That being said, I wrote an article for this issue, and the first three issues have been really good. So, even if you have misgivings about Sitterson don't let him stop you from giving what is a great magazine about pro wrestling a legitimate chance.

The tech issues do seem daunting to me, even if they aren't, but it's also more because starting in August I'll be in Medic school full time which is going to take up enormous amounts of my time and I'm not sure if I'd have the time to handle anything outside of being present for a bi-monthly podcast during that time.
-
Scheduling hopefully won't be an issue, but if they book that tourney as anything other than a Cobb/Thatcher match in the finals then they've done gone messed up.

That's one I like a lot, here's what I wrote about it a while back, I think I went **** on the match.

So I had the idea a while back for a podcast devoted to discussion of MOTY by year. Basically at this point the idea I have in my mind is that each episode would focus on a year in wrestling, with myself and my co-host/guests giving our top 10 matches for that year. I want this to be all encompassing too, not just recent stuff. I've even thought that when the pickings get slim there could always be supplemental episodes for years where we offer more matches, or I just do episodes with different guests who will offer different perspectives on the year. Nothing is set in stone yet, I'm still in the feeling out stages of this thing. I do know a few things, --I'm probably going to snag a co-host. This is because I know I can't carry a show on my own, and also because there's next to no chance I can handle the recording, editing, and posting aspects of a podcast. --Episodes will have to be monthly at best, maybe even bi-monthly when I start Medic school in the fall. --I'm looking for any and all input into this project. So any thoughts or suggestions go ahead and send them my way, I'm more than open to what anyone has to say. --I'm not completely sold on the name. MOTYPod is the best I could come up with, but I'm bad at naming things. Only thing I've done so far is to set up a Twitter, which can be found here. Either way this is a project I'm hoping takes off, and I'm hoping plenty of you end up being along for the ride.

That's a match I don't like, or think is very good actually.

The Trade Marks Ep. #1 - The $52,000 Question

This will be on iTunes soonish, yes? -
To clarify, I have no opinion on the guy, I've never seen him wrestle. But, most indie/RoH fans I know have painted the guy as the worst thing to happen to RoH in a long time.

You're the first person I've heard say a single positive thing about Bruiser; it's been unanimous hate on all fronts so far.

It's a lot of fun would be my take. Alvarez is wrong most of the time. -

This is a country where some political forums have wrestlers at them in their masks. It's most likely a legit probe into AAA and whether they were negligent in having care present. However, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was a kayfabe move. -
Most people do. I don't mind the more serious Angle, and think he works for the most part, but his best character work was easily as the nerdy jock.
-
The Austin series in 2001, the Benoit matches (but especially the Rumble '03 match), his series versus Edge in 00-01, and his tag matches with Benoit in 01 would probably be the best examples of this.

Wrestling is still very much a kayfabe business in Mexico, and I suspect that the "manslaughter" rumblings are simply people paying lip service to the kayfabe aspect of the business. -
Watching him in 2000-2003 I think the opposite is true. He shows a decided eye for escalation, building his matches until the reach a crescendo that the fans buy into every time.
-
Obliged you are, sucker! As for Angle on the whole, I disagree with the majority of negative points being made about him and he will still place incredibly high on my final ballot most likely.

It's also worth noting that punch drunk selling was a regular method Perro utilized, so his staggering around before the 619 spot may not be an indication that he was already in trouble. -
Canada in general doesn't get nearly the amount of shows they used to and I gotta think that Carl DeMarco leaving was part of the Canada decline Did Canadian business ever take a significant downturn? After Bret left? After Owen died? After the Benoit murders? After Edge quit? It just seems odd that WWF/E world forsake what has generally been a super hot country where they always do good business.

There's no reason to boot two very talented women like Emma and Alicia Fox to the curb; just book them better.
