  1. There's not a huge demand for 1920s silents on Netflix, but they are there because Netflix realizes there is some demand and if they have the content why not use it? Variety is king when it comes to a streaming service like the Network, and the Network does not provide adequate variety considering the library they have access to.
  2. TYB, I've used that list to check out a few matches and add them to my personal collection.
  3. How afraid of opposing viewpoints are you Parv? This isn't the first time you've wrote someone off or said you can't take them seriously simply because they don't agree with your viewpoint. If the guy was a prick or something sure, but you sure do seem to love to run away from opposing viewpoints being presented in a well reasoned and thoughtful manner an awful lot.
  4. Thanks for the kind words. We do seem to align more often than not, and as long as this project keeps exposing me to interesting wrestling that I've never seen I'm a happy camper.
  5. Hey Jet, finally got around to your match. Here's the review, Franz Schlederer vs. Franz Schlenz.
  6. CM Punk was pot-stirring on Twitter pointing out that Komen is a scam (almost none of the money actually goes to research) and everyone was jumping on him thinking he was just sour-graping at WWE despite there being tons of documentation out there backing him up. Sometimes the right message can be delivered by the wrong messenger. Said the same last night on Twitter. Doesn't really matter how much truth there is to what Punk is saying when people are tuning out the messenger, for varying reasons.
  7. Hey Jet, any info you can provide for this match, ie; date, venue, promotion, etc.?
  8. I like Jarrett more than most, but this still seems like too easy of a dismissal of Red. I'd agree that he never became the well rounded wrestler that Rey did, but Red did become more than just a spot guy. And, even when he was just a spot guy he was one of the best spot guys in all of wrestling. At his very best I don't think Jarrett was ever one of the best of anything in wrestling.
  9. To be...no pun intened, fair, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone to be a contrarian on any aspect of Ric Flair's career. Even if you think someone was a better promo or story teller in the ring, it would be hard to find someone that doesn't think Flair belongs in the conversation about the best of all time in those aspects. To say nothing about said person being willing to sit down for a long recording about the topic. The entire reason Parv produced these podcasts is the fact that there are contrarians out there. Just how low on Flair are these contrarians? Not quite top 10 material? Borderline top 100? Simply not fans? For Parv a Flair contrarian means you don't have him as your number 1.
  10. Any chance that you could list these out? I'm just curious? From the top 100 that I did recently I have this: 88. Nick Bockwinkel vs. Wahoo McDaniel (8/28/83) 81. Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig (12/25/86) 58. Billy Robinson vs. Nick Bockwinkel (12/11/80) 23. Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig (11/21/86) One five-star match, three I have at **** 3/4. Do you have any other Bock matches high that I missed? To me these are the highest of Bock's highs. For Flair I have this: 90. Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk (11/15/89) 83. Ric Flair vs. Lex Luger (2/25/90) 71. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs Lex Luger, Barry Windham & Sting (04/03/88) 68. Ric Flair vs. Ricky Morton (07/05/86) 64. Anderson, Flair, Blanchard, Luger and Dillon vs. Nikita Koloff, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors and Paul Ellering (7/4/87) 45. Ron Garvin vs. Ric Flair (12/28/85) 42. Ron Garvin vs. Ric Flair (9/26/87) 37. Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (5/7/89) 29. Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Ric Flair (6/8/83) 27. Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk (7/23/89) 19. Sting, Brian Pillman, Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner vs. Ric Flair, Larry Zbyszko, Barry Windham & Sid Vicious (2/24/91) 10. Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (2/20/89) 1. Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat (4/2/89) To me these are the highest of Flair's highs. I do actually want to press statements like this because if there are a whole bevvy of five-star Bock matches I've missed, I'd like to see them. That's a quantity argument, which I'm not making. I probably have Flair with more great matches, in fact I know I do. But, I'm talking about Bock/Flair on the whole, not just in great matches. When he's at his very best, which is in most of the matches you listed, I prefer Bock more and think he is better in general. But, for me when I say highest of highs it's not about the ***** matches, but about when Bock was at his absolute best as a performer. Take this match for instance, Now, I've grown to be quite fond of Burke, but this is no *****, or even **** affair. But it's Bock at his absolute best, making Burke look like a million bucks and working in a way that I prefer over how Flair handled such matches. That's not a knock on Flair's approach, which produced plenty of greatness, I mean, Flair is still in contention for my top 10 even if he's just outside of it right now. But, I get far more enjoyment and see more to chew on in the best Bock performances versus the best Flair performances.
  11. Savage, and it's a slam dunk for me. I like Valentine a lot, and I admit to not having seen enough from Valentine. But, based on the Memphis I have seen and his work on undercards and C shows I gotta go with Savage. He has the high end work, but where Savage has really impressed me is in matches where he should be phoning it in, but he doesn't.
  12. Both are great, but Mysterio is in consideration for my top 10, while Liger is not. This is a case, for me at least, of the high highs of Mysterio trumping anything that Liger has to bring to the table. Liger is consistent more than anything else, and while I highly value that, Rey is almost as consistent, but better in hi high watermarks.
  13. I'll have Bock ahead of Flair. I've seen more than enough of both to know that I both prefer Bock as a worker and think he is the better worker. Good or bad, Bock offered more variety in addition to having a signature style on lockdown. What I know is this; Bock worked in a way that I preferred, I find the highest of Bock's highs to be higher than the same from Flair, and when he's at his worst I prefer Bock to Flair at his worst.
  14. I watched the entire AWA set in 6 weeks, nobody needs a year. Some people might. I watch a lot of wrestling, and I don't like to watch too much of one thing. I bounce around from project to project, because that's how I keep watching wrestling fresh. And, my time to watch is limited, very limited. I still manage to get in a lot, but I'll be lucky to finish half of that set in a years time.

    CIMA

Won't make my list, but he rates higher with me than anyone else from the Dragon Gate crop. Even in Dragon Gate I've found him relatively enjoyable, which is saying something for me and Dragon Gate. Still, he falls too easily into the DG style and most of his work in that promotion lacks the impact or meaning that I look for in my pro wrestling. However, where Cima has always impressed me was in his excursion work. He changes himself when he wrestles in CMLL, WCW, RoH, PWG, etc. He adapts slightly to the style he believes the fans of those promotions want to see and attempts to deliver.
  16. Not someone I'm considering. I've seen him in Toryumon and Dragon Gate, and never really enjoyed him in either. I have nothing against spot guys, because spotfests can be great. But, he goes beyond that and moves into the territory of a guy who moves so fats that nothing has a chance to breathe. Plus, when every single match of yours I've seen is a run through of super fast spots without anything resembling variety, I get bored of you really fast. For others that won't be the case, but when I don't like his style to begin with, it's hard for me to remain invested.
  17. It's been my understanding that a lot of that came from jealousy over Mero getting the first true guaranteed contract from WWF.
  18. So, much much better?
  19. It's a good way to make someone hate wrestling, and the internet in general.
  20. Fuck these people. The guy beat up his girlfriend several times, until he beat her to death. Every three days of so, a woman dies because she gets beatten to death. This is bullshit. Fuck these people and fuck Snuka. Then why not spend the precious time and money on those current victims of domestic violence (women aren't the only ones abused) instead of going after a 72 year old dude who might have done it over 30 years ago and who now has stomach cancer. At his current shape, I don't see him posing much of a danger to anyone and I have no idea why people here are so supportive of what is basically a waste of resources. Because people should pay for their crimes. You murder someone, you should pay for that transgression. But, more to the point, the family of the victim often gains solace in knowing that the killer has been brought to justice. Bringing them that sense of closure is far from a waste of resources.
  21. Pretty incorrect. I'm right there with him, except for right now I'm pretty sure Hansen is my #1.
  22. I understand the complaints most people have with him, but I like more about him than I dislike. He has moments in certain matches, like the final ten minutes of this years 08-29 tag, where he is just about the perfect wrestler. But, I do wish he had those moments more than he actually does.
  23. Ross also thinks Charlotte is a comp for Kurt Angle; he's crazy off his rocker sometimes.
  24. Won't make my list, though I am higher on him than most people seem to be. He can be very good, even great, at times. But, he's too inconsistent, and doesn't have enough quality performances to measure up to others who will make the list.
