  1. In the case of SummerSlam I think they've very much pushed it as an event for a few years now. The draw is the show itself, not sure when that started happening but I think it's clear now that they have positioned SummerSlam as a "to be at" event.
  2. But Memphis being the last surviving territory kind of disputes your theory. Not just that, but Memphis thrived for years. If the Memphis style was territory killing then how come the Memphis territory was a top territory for decades?
  3. The very best.
  4. I didn't claim anything, I said why I thought you were doing it. If I was wrong, I was wrong.
  5. Jeff Hawkins put forth the idea that Sasha could win the strap back and they use that to build to her taking the title off of Nikki. I personally don't see it happening, but it's not exactly extreme thinking, and makes a modicum of sense. Of course it pretty much sabotages Bayley, so I hope they don't.
  6. Disagree with everything you said, but there's really no point in me debating this with you. Talking modern Lucha with you is like having your teeth pulled, a terrible experience that no one should ever have to endure.
  7. Ah, didn't know that, the WAVE connection rings more true then.
  8. Definitely possible, though my mind immediately went to a Lioness Asuka tribute.
  9. Because a spot with context behind it isn't just a random spot. It has meaning, has been built to, has importance, etc. They weren't just randomly throwing out moves, and later in the match they were even playing off of moves/sequences that had taken place earlier in the match.
  10. Also, and Kris can correct me if I'm wrong, but CMLL guys don't usually come up North all that much. As far back as I can remember it's always been AAA guys getting booked on the US indie scene.
  11. Probably taking the temperature on Kurt. I think what would be best for Kurt would be to come back to NXT as a trainer/part-time performer. He'd get his competitive jollies taken care of, but he can help train newer guys and gals. Not just on wrestling, but I'd hope they'd position him as a cautionary tale of health drinking, injuries, etc.
  12. For those who aren't familiar at all with her (that's me), what is she about exactly (apart from being a relly good worker, from what I understand) ? Her mystique honestly is that she's the odd one out. She's a great wrestler, can be stiff as hell, works really hard, but is sporadic in her appearances. She plays into the comedy aspect of wrestling at times, just like she toys with the idea of what wrestling presentation should be and what exactly constitutes hot in a human being. One day she'll do something that is very traditionally Joshi, either the way she works a match or doing a bikini photo shoot, and then the next she'll paint her face like a clown and work a match using mood lighting set to jazz music. She does a lot of weird shit just for the sake of being different, and she comes across as wholly unique. That, to me at least, is her mystique in a nutshell.
  13. Regarding Kamaitachi/Dragon being a spotfest, I feel that is a very surface level take. The reason I loved the match so much is because it's not what it appears to be. They are working off of their previous encounters, building on an already high sense of escalation, etc. This is an example of a match that is a spotfest without the context of their feud, but with said context it's not a spotfest but the natural progression of what they have been doing in building/working their feud.
  14. Right now, 1) Sasha Banks 2) Joe Gacy 3) Frankie Pickard 4) Timothy Thatcher 5) Jun Akiyama
  15. I had it as an easy MotYC. Great build during the match, with each man playing their role splendidly. Firmly entrenched AJPW as my #1 Japanese promotion. Not really a slight against any other promotions, but in terms of match quality, wrestlers, and overall shows I find AJPW far more enjoyable and rewarding than anyone else.
  16. He has no redeeming qualities, but I suppose he's firmly entrenched in the RoH corporate atmosphere and that's why he's still employed.
  17. I had both around ****1/4 I believe.
  18. Busick/Thatcher, loved the grittiness of what they ere doing more than the intricacies of the Sabre/Thatcher match, though I thought that match was great too.
  19. I view wrestling as art, and while I do maintain a deep emotional connection to art I also love to break it down and explore the why and the what. That's my thing, though I am not one of the better posters around here at it. For me digging deep to formulate a why to the what is highly enjoyable, just as much, if not more, than my initial emotional reaction. A simple response maybe, but for as much as my approach to wrestling is an analytical one I do believe it is a very simple one.
  20. The drama, the arc, the in-ring action, seeing people square off who I thin k have a great understanding of their craft. The ability of a wrestling match to draw me in completely, whether I want to be or not.

Well, others offered reasons for why they would possibly vote for them. You did some hyperbolic ranting with no substance for a few seconds. I know which approach I find more likely to swing my vote.
  22. EVOLVE Wrestling: 48 (0816-2015) Biff Busick vs. Timothy Thatcher Read the review at Blue Thunder Driver.

  25. The wrestlers/promoters denying it's a racist comment has no bearing on Meltzer in the year 2015 as an educated outsider agreeing with their take. It's a monumentally ignorant comment, a racism enabling comment at that, and he deserves all the shit he is getting over it.
