The vs. Park thread reminded me that the Shimoda match got uploaded to Youtube last year: Also here is the grossly under talked tag match that I also mention in the quote:

If you have any interest in the promotion, you might want to keep an eye on the Stardom Youtube channel for the next little while. Some of the wrestler have been making appearances on Japanese network TV so they've been uploading recent matches temporarily for people to easily sample. They even uploading the Starlight Kid vs. HANAKO match for the Wonder of Stardom title just a few days after it happened.

Stardom has temporarily uploaded the main event of All-Star Grand Queendom:

More Stardom roster news: * Hazuki and Koguma have left STARS and are going to focus on working more globally. They made sure to clearly state that they have not left Stardom. Hanan is the new leader of STARS. * Bea Priestley showed up at NJPW Resurgence and buddied up to AZM backstage but didn't seem to mention Stardom at all. * 2 more trainees were introduced over the weekend at the New Blood show, debuts and ringnames are TBD. Stardom now had 11 trainees debut over the last 2+ years with only 1 leaving (Victoria Yuzuki, now of Marigold,) so they are managing to keep the roster restocked. Sayaka Kurara seems like a surefire star. HANAKO, Aya Sakura and Ranna Yagami have good potential as well.

Must be worried Benoit would somehow trigger a flag on YouTube causing the video/channel to be demonetized. That's the only thing I can think of.

Looked at the view count for the WCW channel and stumbled across this: * Flair/Steamboat Clash match - uploaded April 2 - 31k views * Booker T/ Eddie Uncensored '98 - uploaded April 4 - 411k views (4th highest viewed video on the entire channel) * Vader/Cactus Jack Saturday Night April '93 - uploaded April 5 - 57k views * Sting/Steve Austin Saturday Night April '95 - uploaded April 8 - 51K views When it comes to pre-Nitro stuff, full shows are doing much better than singular matches. The full SuperBrawl '91 show and the WarGames match from WrestleWar '92 were uploaded the same day that the channel launched. The former has more than double the views of the latter, 153k to 70k. I did laugh at seeing the the Arquette title win has less views than the episode of World Championship Wrestling (12/21/85) that was uploaded the same day.

They're starting to run bigger buildings with the ultimate goal of running the Budokan sometime in the next 5 years. Their show on March 19 drew 3,500, 500 more than what Marigold drew at Sumo Hall last summer. In August, they're running a basketball area in Sendai. Meiko also said that they are looking to double their roster sooner rather than later. They are also looking at recruiting trainees from judo, amateur wrestling and other sports.

If you've read the plans Meiko Satomura has for Sendai Girls, and seen the growth in attendance that they've had in the last year and a half, they are more likely to overtake Stardom. TKO buying Marigold is too much of a get out of jail free card for Rossy.

Call me crazy, but giving your newest signee the nickname "The Savior" isn't a good look for the rest of your roster. Also, it's one thing to expect her to draw and upgrade the quality of the top of your card but to also ask her to fix your training and your company's culture. That is a hell of a lot to ask of just one person! To top it off, you debut your "Savior" by having her go 20/80 against an aging veteran who can barely move because of bad knees. Plus the veteran is retiring in less than a month. Iwatani didn't even win definitively, she won via a rollup. Not the best way to make a boisterous debut in a new promotion. Then you have Natsupoi, er I mean Victoria Yuzuki (Notpoi?) come down to challenge her to a match for a midcard title. Ugh, whatever... Good luck trying to fix this mess Mayu, you're gonna need every once you can get.

Stardom roster update: * Tam Nakano has retired. * Thekla was "fired" in an angle but, according to Fightful, has a rep talking to various American companies. * Maika is out for the foreseeable future to get surgery on her elbow (sounds like Tommy John like what MLB pitchers get.) * Mayu Iwatani is now no longer a member of the Stardom roster. She has not made up her mind as to what she will do next. Stardom ref Barb Sasaki said of the Yokohama Arena show felt like Stardom had found all seven Dragon Balls, made a wish and now had to start the journey to find them all again. That couldn't feel more true now.

Tam slamming Kamitani actually dented the roof. I don't really know how close they are, but Tam did appear on some indie shows that Onita was on early in her wrestling career. Onita was also suppose to have some role with the Stardom Idols project that never got off the ground.

I am 100% convinced that Onita got Tam into watching Memphis stuff.

So... Tam Nakano and Saya Kamitani just did their version of the Jerry Lawler/Eddie Gilbert parking lot brawl.

The hype for this match pretty fairly justified:

That this match is happening at Korakuen rather than a bigger building lends some credence to this. Both are on a poster for shows later on in March too. Apparently, the match is not a title match nor a retirement match just loser leaves the promotion. It is a shame that this is completely overshadowing a terrific performance from Rina in the main event vs. Starlight Kid.

Got the Stardom Korakuen show because it was cheap and on in the evening for me. The place looked legit packed, about the only other Stardom show that had this many people in Korakuen would be the last Io Shirai show in 2018. Greatly enjoyed both of the title matches. The Artists titles match was the flat out trios match that you would expect. Meanwhile, I thought the world title match would be more of a crowd brawl with entranceway/balcony. Instead they started with a nifty stalling spot, did a short bit of crowd brawling, then proceeded to do straight up bomb throwing for the rest of the match. The bomb throwing was pretty well paced out with the Star Crusher starting to be a legit finisher. Don't know what to make of the Sayaka Kurara stuff. Not crazy about the prospect of a Saya/Tam rematch at Yokohama Arena but it's too early to turn Kurara, especially since H.A.T.E. already has a large number of members. This has been a really well done angle that I wish was getting more attention. I guess people outside of joshi fandom are sick of seeing joshi fans overrate pretty much everything the last few years. I'll say this, I had serious doubts at the start but now I'm completely sold on the Phenex Queen gimmick. Honestly think Kamitani has the chance to be a Naito type star for Stardom.

I've been a fan long enough to remember when Mayu was going to SEAdLINNNG after Yoshiko came back because of their friendship. People also thought she was going to retire multiple times. Who knows, Mayu is Mayu and everyone should just sit back and enjoy her work while we can.

If you haven't watched Mercedes vs. Hazuki, or just wanted to rewatched it with an old hand-held vibe, someone recorded it with their phone and uploaded it to YouTube.
-
So, is Mayu Iwatani vs. AZM for the IWGP Women's title a show stealing match or a show saving match?
-
The first entrance of the Phenex Queen was pretty awesome looking.

To me, it's more worrying that Stardom has blown through a year's worth of angles in about a month and a half. There's just too much happening all at once that when one thing happens it overshadows something else. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Natsuko push is fueled by Bushiroad wanting to capitalize on the Dump Matsumoto show coming out on Netflix. Heel Kamitani sounds about as milquetoast as heel Io Shirai/Iyo Sky. I'm not going to say "Let it play out." because I bailed on New Japan after Omega and the Bucks took over Bullet Club and never looked back.

According to Tokyo Sports, Meiko Satomura will be announcing her plans to retire soon. Looks like she wants to focus more on promoting and coaching.
