WWF Wrestling Challenge Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby The Brain Heenan in studio Matches from Poughkeepsie, NY – Mid-Hudson Civic Center The Fantastics defeated Los Conquistadors -This was actually filmed before Rogers broke his leg but we do see the “spot” in which he flies over the top over for a cross body. Gorilla and Bobby put over how he tried that move over the week and ended up breaking some bones in his leg but hopes to be back soon. They get the win tonight but one has to wonder how this injury will impact the Fantastics over the next 9-weeks. Brutus Beefcake w/ Jimmy Hart defeated Skip Young -A good showcase for Brutus who is really starting to develop here. The match is short and he is protected as he finishes off Skip Young with the sleeper and he looks primed for his tag team match tonight! SIX-MAN TAG The Guerreros w/ Mark Youngblood vs Ron Bass, Black Bart, & Jay Youngblood w/ Jack Lanza - We have been waiting for this one for quite some time. These six do battle for a good 12-minutes before chaos ensues. We see some good moments of action before the melee ensues. As officials and agents come out… they announce that next week on Wrestling Challenge… it will be a special eight-man tag team match with Mark Youngblood and Jack Lanza joinin the action! EVENT CENTER WWF Presents: Saturday Night’s Main Event Detroit, Michigan - Joe Louis Arena Mean Gene is in the event center as we get quick hits from some of the combatants… Hulk Machine: Well you know something… tonight under the bright lights of NBC in primetime dude, me and the Machines are going to join together to be the strongest force in all of professional wrestling. The Bobby Heenan Family is going to be flushed right down the tube! Harley Race: Hulk Hogan… I know it is you under that mask… but it will only hide you for a moment… because tonight I am going to get my hands on you… I am going to show you why I am the King… and I am going to CROWN YOU!!! Gino Hernandez: You know Chris… tonight the world is going to see you and me defend these tag titles… but they also get to see our newest set… Chris Adams: Right here we’ve got the Mexican Titles… here we have the Japanese titles… and around our waists are the WWF Titles… there is no team better in the world… Gino Hernandez: Bulldogs… tonight you get spade and we are going to be the ones chomping at the bit! Davey Boy: You know gold is only as valuable as you believe it to be. You may have three sets of titles… but there is only one we want. Dynamite: Adams… Hernandez… you two have got awfully big mouths for two men… well tonight we put a muzzle on you and get our tag titles back! Tito Santana: Greg Valentine… you and me brother tonight have got teammates but it is you I am looking for. It is you who I am coming after. It is you I am going to put an end too! Greg Valentine: I have got the Hammer ready and Tito Santana… the world is going to watch me put you down tonight! Hillbilly Jim: Well I am awfully excited about fighting tonight on NBC… I know Nikita is going to be a tough opponent but boy doggie I have got my mud stomping boots on and I am coming for a fight… Ivan w/ Nikita Koloff: This man is unstoppable. This man is indestructible. This man is a true immortal. This is the Russia Nightmare and tonight he will destroy Hillbilly Jim and begin the Summer of Terror all over the WWF!

-There is a lot of excitement surrounding tomorrow's Saturday Night's Main Event. While the show is being hyped as a Prime Time event, it will actually be taped around 5pm in the evening to air at 9pm Eastern. To keep too many fans from knowing what happened, the show will tape for around 90-minutes and then be followed up with regular matches that have been advertised to include a Hulk Hogan v Harley Race WWF Championship match as the headline. This would mean that the WWF would be working double time to get the event aired and if they needed re-shoots to do it in that time before getting it to broadcast that night. - There is no word on who the other Machines will be joining Super and Strong... while we did see Hulk Machine, no word on the other two. Andre the Giant was heavily rumored but his relationship with the WWF is on such bad terms, he may end up staying in Japan for the duration of the tour.

You and Lutte really need to be put over for your abilities to co-promote and use each others talents. I would encourage others to try this model as it not only makes a "super roster" of sorts, but it really adds to the ability to create some great matchups. Now the age old question has to be answered.... Barry or Magnum... who is the next in line? -

Arn Anderson. The best ever to me. Strong pick. Daniel Bryan? AJ Styles? Those feel like the big ones in my mind. i agree on all accounts and perhaps day in and day out is what it is all about. The one thing that kind of puts Eddie over the top for me are the lack of true squash matches he had. You got to see Arn beat the piss out of guys a lot in the 80s. With Eddie, he has pretty decent quality matches in that Nitro run and had some good talent which may help his status. I would say Rey could be up there as well but he seems a little spotty (pun intended) for my tastes. Danielson and AJ are definitely prime candidates right now for best tv match workers on the biggest stage. -
I agree with what others have said in line of using the freelancers. This is a perfect example eon how to use them well and build the show. And like Gene said, the placement of your matches helps build the guys you have while still putting value in the ones you are bringing in.

I love this Flair vs OMG pairing... to me it has some real legs and helps Flair get the babyface pop which in real life at this time he was doing well I believe. I don't know how much the Crippler has left, but Magnum TA is getting a serious rub out of all of it. Then you've got the Ragin Bull who has got a serious upside at this point in his career. Keep doing work! -
NWA World Tag Team Championship: The Rougeau Brothers NWA United States Heavyweight Champion Magnum TA & Barry Windham in 20:23 to retain NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Ric Flair beat Ron Garvin in 25:57 to retain Sign me up for these two matches... sell outs anywhere in North America... except New York... har har har. For real, spectacular use of the joint program and fun cards to see.
-
A couple of things... I really like the champion run down in the beginning... shows how stacked your roster is. I know we have ideas but Chris Benoit is a very small dude at this point in his career... using him the way you did with the Herders was a good move. I like seeing the MXE join up here... Anderson is a good foil at this point but may not help get them the legit heat they need, but that is why they have Cornett.

You've got a quiet young tag team roster building up here... I like the looks of it in the long run. Interesting to see Bullet Bob lose... that is a huge feather in the cap for Ole. -

Is there a better tv match worker than Eddie Guerrero? His 95/96 Nitro run is one of the best and just puts on good and fun match week in and week out. -

Yeah that is definitely Martel... Could be fun to keep it going if Beast is right... give us three clues of who a wrestler is then first to answer gets to choose the next one.
-
It was a cage match... forgot to put that in there... still kind of crazy to think about a "clean" win in that feud.

WWF Superstars Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Matches from Brantford, Ontario, Canada – The Civic Centre Tito Santana vs Brutus Beefcake w/ Jimmy Hart -A pretty good opening contest with some nice heat. Jesse and Vince really put over the big issue with Tito Santana and Greg Valentine. Brutus is a placeholder for all intensive purposes here but he is coming into his own as a worker. These guys go about 11-minutes with Brutus looking to finish. Here comes Valentine down as he and Hart are cheering on Brutus. He goes for the sleeper hold but Tito runs him back into the turnbuckle and then goes for the ropes but Valentine grabs his leg. Tito looks down as he pulls up Valentine. Beefcake runs but Tito moves and Brutus nails Valentine with a high knee and he goes flying into the guardrail. Tito hits the ropes and here comes a flying forearm for the 1…2….3!! Tito gets out of the ring as Valentine is looking for revenge here. Brutus is trying to recover and Jimmy Hart is irate. Tony Atlas vs “King” Harley Race w/ Bobby Heenan -A pretty good showcase for both men here as it is power and strength from Tony Atlas but the skill of Race is really on point. These guys get about 12-minutes to really put it together and boy do they. Atlas looks to get some big time momentum but in the end it is The King who has got all thins going the right way. Atlas is trying to get going towards the end but Race is coy and is able to jump over Atlas’ back and run him into the turnbuckle while driving a big knee into his back. Race then rolls him up with a hand full of tights for the 3-count! Heenan is jumping for joy as he is chanting that Race will be the new champion! TAG FESTIVAL The Machines vs The Russians -There have been very few times in which Uncle Ivan has really put on the working boots and tonight was one of them. Nikita is being built up as the supreme monster, and justifiably so as he is spectacular in this contest. The Machines both have really meshed well together and do a good job of tagging in and out and controlling the pace. We approach the 18-minute mark and it looks like the Russians may have the Machines number as Nikita hits a Russian Sickle out of nowhere on Strong that sends him out of the ring to the floor. We get a chaotic battle that spills back into the ring as it takes both Super and Strong to double clothesline Nikita out of the ring to the floor. Uncle Ivan has the chain but a DQ win won’t do it for the Machines as he runs at Super who ducks and then Strong out of nowhere with a bit boot right to the skull of Ivan that puts him down and here comes Super with a big elbow drop for the 1….2….3!! The Machines have won it! They receive 3 points. THEY HAVE WON THE TAG FESTIVAL! EVENT CENTER TAG FESTIVAL FINAL RESULTS **The Machines - 18 points** The Hart Foundation - 17 points The Fantastics – 15 points The Russians – 11 points The British Bulldogs – 9 points The Guerreros – 3 points The Faces of Fear – 3 points The Killer Bees – 3 points

-Report coming out of tonight's Montreal show from the WWF is that there was some legit heat between Dino Bravo and WWF officials. Bravo was not happy about Jack Tunney being announced as the President and the issues it has caused with his "connections" in Canada. No word on if he will be at the Toronto show tomorrow night. - The WWF was happy with the results of the Tag Festival as they really put the Machines (who won), the Harts, and the Fantastics on notice with some big scores. Nikita Koloff is all but set to become the biggest heel in the company at this point. Then you have the Bulldogs, who already have a televised shot at the titles... could we see them take the gold and the Machines turn heel? That is what a lot of people are wanting to see, especially with Nikita primed for a singles run.
-
You have to wonder, with the shows being apart as much as they were... did fans go to both or choose? Did we kill the town with a monster weekend and now the WWF at least, won't be back for 6 weeks? Have to check the dirt sheets to find out...
