World Class Championship Wrestling July/August 1986
LowBlowPodcast replied to GeneJackson95's topic in Promotions
Battle for the Belts was pretty great stuff. The Highlight for me would have been the NWA Title match with Kerry getting a good run and showcasing his star power in the right way. I also thought the six-man with the Road Warriors and Dusty v the Birds would have drawn a huge house on its own but with this card it is in a good semi-main spot. Adorable Adrian has done well enough here in Texas and has some legs left. I am getting more of an appreciation for Eddie Gilbert thanks to your use of him and some old footage. He has an upside but it seems like he's destined not to hit the glass ceiling. -

Really enjoyed the spot show you put together and the big names come out in droves. Mulligan looks good... I think that the Iron Sheik has one more run left in him at this point, the Awesome Twosome is fantastic and I would like to see them and the Rock N Roll along with the Road Warriors down the line. Then we see Orndorff... a true star and perhaps the biggest name in MACW outside of Dibiase...or has he surpassed him? -
I think I missed how Brady Boone got to Portland while he was on my roster but I am sure we can figure that out. Outside of that looks like things are coming along here for Portland. Continue to put out good shows and see the product grow and the roster take better shape.

NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling August 1986
LowBlowPodcast replied to SirEdger's topic in Promotions
Lutte... bringing in the Road Warriors and Freebirds for a big show and it pays off. Then to top it off Garvin is here. You and I have discussed the Garvins in montreal and with Jimmy here you now have some openings in which you could really do some fun stuff especially with Martel and the Rougeaus. -
I got a chance to go through and catalog the WWF today. Put together the Main Event, Saturday Night's Main Event, and WrestleMania results and updated title histories. Crazy how fast time has flown by and to see all the stuff I've written in this one promotion and then all the subsequent stuff everyone else has done and our feedback and such. Just been a fun trip to go back and look at all of it and emphasize how important it is that we all give feedback and insight into what each other is doing and the growth within our promotions.

I personally love Battle Royals... 20 guys... I even like the tag team variable with 10 teams. Those 1980's WWF shows that had these were awesome in my book. I would love to see us make a good list of battle royals and where to find them. The Andre the Giant 1985 Coliseum video that is on the Network has a pretty darn good one on there from 85 I believe. I am also big on lumberjack matches... again from the 80s. WCW tried to do a couple of them in 95 but I just never bought it. It seemed like seeing all of these people together in the 80s meant something was going to happen and it would be unpredictable. I am a huge fan of the War Games of course but also cage match variants with tag teams (Road Warriors vs Freebirds) and the six-man rage in the cage from ECW Heatwave 1996 with Raven, Stevie, and Brian Lee vs Sandman, Tommy, and Gordy.

They put over how Don Muraco and Curt Hennig have joined Wahoo McDaniel and Greg Valentine as four of the six men who will do battle next week right here on Prime Time for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship at SNME X! They also put over the challenge from Mr. Fuji to the Hart Foundation this past week on television. They put over the big main event tonight with Tony Atlas challening Barry Windham lus the Hart Foundation will be in action and we will hear from Jack Tunney and the Horsemen! Right now we are set for our opening contest… let’s head to the ring! Billy Jack Haynes vs Steve Lombardi -A nice little showcase for Haynes who comes out looking strong. He works the crowd and finishes with the big full nelson and Lombardi has no choice but to give up. The big man walks over to Gorilla and Jesse! Billy Jack puts over his participation in the battle royals as of late and he for one agrees with bringing the Macho Man back into the fold. He knows there are two more battle royals and he plans on winning one of them to get his chance at the title next week! As Billy Jack walks off we then see the Rockers walk into the scene and they have got the fans going wild. Shawn and Marty put over their shot at the world tag team titles at SNME X and talk about how the Horsemen stole the titles from the Harts but the Rockers will win the titles from them. They talk about Bobby Heenan and how he won’t be a factor and the only thing that will be a factor is the lights when the Rockers come flying left and right and take those tag team titles! *COMMERCIAL* PT is back and we see a higlight from this weekend with Mr. Fuji… Highlight: Mr. Fuji came on and put over how Demolition is tired of the Hart Foundation… he has a challenge for them… at SNME they will face one another but when Demolition wins… then the Hart Foundation must not be able to wrestle in America for 6 months! When Gorilla asked about Demolition he said they would follow suit. Gorilla asks why they would hold this match in Canada and Fuji says he wants the Harts to lose and stay out! The Hart Foundation vs Barry Horowitz & Bob Bradley -The Harts come out to a great ovation and put these two through the ringer before getting the big win. They walk over to Gorilla and Jesse and they are hot! The Harts put over how the titles were stolen from them and how they plan on getting them back… but in order to do that they will make sure Demolition can’t wrestle in the United States! They accept the challenge and look forward to sending them packing and say that if it is a fight they want… then they got it! *COMMERCIAL* PT is back with Jack Tunney who is putting over the big issue with Randy Savage… Tunney says he got over 25,000 letters and phone calls for him to come back! He will be allowed to compete in the battle royals next weekend! The crowd is going wild and cheering for Savage but then that brings out the Horsemen…. Bobby Heenan starts by putting a briefcase on the table and opens it up. He pulls out $10,000 dollars and says that any man who eliminates Randy Savage will get this money! Arn Anderson: There is no way on God’s green earth that the teenie boppers are going to rock and roll over the Horsemen. They may say we stole the titles but possession in nine thenths of the law and brother you are looking at the men holding the titles! You want to walk out here for your fifteen minutes of fame but don’t forget that the lights are pretty bright in the main event and when the titles are on the line they get just a little bit brighter. Shawn and Marty… perhaps its best you stay home and just let this one slide. Tully: Don’t say we didn’t warn you… don’t say we didn’t tell you it would happen! We have said it before and we will say it again right now...these are our tag team titles and there isn’t a team walking around the WWF who could even come close to taking them… unless we clone ourselves but then again… the original is better than any imitation. Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty are going to find out the hard way that you don’t mess with the best or you end up like the rest! Barry Windham: I have to say that I look out at the field of challengers and I know that next week a true number one contender will be determined but in no way shape form or fashion will it be Randy Savage. I have beaten you all over this country. I have beaten you at King of the Ring and WrestleMania… I have taken your crown… I have taken your title… I have taken your dignity! I have taken everything you’ve got Savage and now you find a way back in… well it doesn’t matter! There is no way you are going to win that shot… The money is there… and by the way… there are two more men who will be involved this weekend (Arn and Tully smile…) and we know… and you know… that when it is all said and done and the smoke clears… Savage you will have fallen so far down the ladder that you simply won’t matter anymore… not like you already do! Ric Flair: I woke up this morning with a feeling…. I have got this feeling that just made me rise out of bed and look out the window and say… MAN IT IS GOOD TO BE A HORSEMEN! HAHA! WOOOO! You got custom made suits… you got Rolex watches… you got Gator Skin on the feet and gold around the waist brother and everyone is lining up! The Harts… the Rockers… The Bulldogs… they all want what the Horsemen got! You got the six-pack challenge… Hennig… Muraco…. Valentine… Wahoo… they all want what they can’t have and what he Horsemen got! Then you got the biggest turkey of them all… Hulk Hogan… you good for nothing yellow dog coming out here and telling these people lies. Brother you may train and you may say your prayers and I know you take your vitamens but pal you can’t get in the ring with me with this title on the line! You are looking down a pipe dream and will never find your way out of the tunnel Hogan… but there is a gliimmer of light. There is a sign of hope… Hogan… there is a way out! I am going to bring the retirement papers with me to SNME! I will let you sign them right there for all of these people and then you an come and be my choauffer! You can carry my bags. I can teach you to lace my boots! Because HOGAN… you may see me in a tag team… six-man…. Eight-man… maybe even a non-title but pal… you will never get me in that ring with this title on the line and that is going to eat you up so bad that you collapse in on yourself like a dying star and pal when you do… another star will be just that much brighter and that is the star of Ric Flair and the Horsemen…. WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *COMMERCIAL* PT is back with Hacksaw Duggan out with Dino Bravo and Tony Atlas. They put over their issue with the Horsemen and Duggan says that he and Bravo are going to be here to keep an eye on everyone and make sure this one goes the right way unlike a couple of weeks ago! MAIN EVENT Tony Atlas vs Barry Windham © w/ Bobby Heenan -A fun main event and man does Tony Atlas look good. He has got the physic of a greek-god and he handles Barry with ease around the ring and has him bumping all over the place. We see Heenan starting to sweat outside the ring but Windham is able to get control. He works over Atlas but the crowd starts to stir and shake and get him moving and here comes Atlas to fight back! He is hammering away at Windham with rights and lefts and then a huge press slam. Windham is reeling and here comes Atlas with a big clothesline and Windham goes flying out of the ring to the floor and here comes Arn and Tully! They are trying to help him up but Duggan and Dino come and pull them away and we’ve got a fight! Windham is reeling as he gets up on the apron and Heenan grabs Atlas’ leg and Windham drops down and clotheslines him on the rope! Windham gets in and hits the ropes and then comes with a nasty knee right to the throat and Atlas is in trouble as Windham covers with a handfull of tights and the 1….2….3! This one may be over but Duggan and Dino don’t want to stop and they are ready for more. The Horsemen have to retreat but they won the battle even though this war is far far from over. They also put over how Mr. Fuji has signed a contract for the Tonga Kid to be taking on the Great Muta at SNME X! Who will win the battle royals this weekend with Savage back in the mix? Who will win the six-pack challenge next week? WWF Presents: SNME X Saturday August 30th, 1986 The Forum - Montreal, Quebec, Canada MAIN EVENT INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP Winner of the Battle Royal vs Barry Windham © w/ Bobby Heenan TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP The Rockers vs Arn & Tully © w/ Bobby Heenan LOSER CAN’T WRESTLE IN THE UNITED STATES For 6 Months! NWA Lutte Internationale/International Wrestling August 1986
LowBlowPodcast replied to SirEdger's topic in Promotions
I know you and I have talked about some missing pieces here in Lutte and the foreshadowing says they are coming together. With the guys you have and the foresight on what you want the next couple of months will be intricate for the company and I am interested to see where you end up with all of it. -
I am guessing that six-man would get some of the fans pretty hot in PR. I also love the placement of Owen who has become a true star here. When he comes back to the states proper, he will have some great seasoning under his belt and be ready for a big push.
-
UWF has settled in a good grove here and you've got some pretty prime situations unfolding. We know what will happen with Magnum in just a few short months but until then he looks great. I also like the use of Big Bubba here. In 86 he was starting to get his legs about him and then really got it together in 87 only to improve in 88. You've started him on that direction here.

Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling July 86
LowBlowPodcast replied to spaldoni's topic in Promotions
I am really digging MACW right now and i find it interesting how different each promotion is. For what its worth, I feel like your push is really the live cards where some is TV. Obviously it is great to find a blend but I really dig what's going on here in MACW and how you have shaped this promotion. I will say it again... Dibiase, Orndorff, Bundy and others are very solid guys to build all the other great pieces you have around. -
World Class Championship Wrestling July/August 1986
LowBlowPodcast replied to GeneJackson95's topic in Promotions
I really like this Terry Funk situation. He is such a captivating character and right now he has got all eyes on him in an absolutely loaded promotion. Road Warriors continue to dominate all comers and then we see the bastardized Von Erichs go down to the Freebirds which I always like seeing. I still think that Gordy has all the makings to becoming the absolute man in World Class even with Dusty and Funk and I would personally like to see those matches unfold on big stages in the future. -
That's was definitely one of the caveats we discussed. At least 2 people for the WWE with a third if they wanted NXT. I'd be up for doing a major brand and working with someone else on it for sure.
-
Pretty good stuff here from the UWF with a lot of people finding the right spots to fit in not only here but in the scope of the NWA. I don't know if Ron Simmons would really be ready for a Doom style run at this point but you've done well enough building him up. I am also a fan of the Luger and Ladd pairing. They could work off of each other quite well and Luger is always in need of some extra pomp with his circumstance.
-
I'd be up to split the wwe with a couple of people for raw, sd, and NXT...
-
Depends on who they were and how they would related to wrestling. I don't quite see Muhammad Ali and 1986 coming up to Portland but if you have other ones I'm sure that it'll be okay try to keep it as realistic as you can with the times the location and the product.

The Hart Foundation vs Demolition w/ Mr. Fuji -This one was hot from the onset and these two teams started throwing elbows and punches and kicks early on and this one gets out of hand. Fuji is really pushing things outside of the ring as all four men tumble to the floor and now they are fighting into the guardrail! The referee tries to get control but he ends up calling for the bell! It is a double count out! Officials and agents come out here to try and help this but these guys are all over the place! Looks like the winners of the Rockers vs Power and Glory get the shot at the gold… but what if they both lose? *COMMERCIAL* PT is back and we see Big John Studd come out with Jimmy Hart and Greg Valentine. They put over the big tag team match later on with Power and Glory. Big John then talked about how he is going to handle that good for nothing Wahoo whenever he gets the chance. Lots could happen here as the champion is in action! Curt Hennig © vs Bunkhouse Buck -Curt Hennig comes out with the TV title and he looks stacked right now with the gold. He and Bunkhouse Buck have a pretty good little match here and Buck is showing off some great skills and some spectacular selling. The finish sees Buck swing wildly but Hennig ducks and then an atomic drop and Buck is wobbly legged and then he turns around for the Hennig Plex and the 1...2….3! The champion retains! He walks over to the booth… Curt Hennig joins Jesse and Gorilla and out comes Wahoo McDaniel! They both work the crowd and put over how Wahoo won a battle royal and gets his chance at the IC title but he also knows that he wants his hands on John Studd. Wahoo and Hennig say they will challenge Studd Valentine this week on Superstars! *COMMERCIAL* We return to PT and see Sting and Warrior come out and they are right in Jesse’s face. Jesse says that the Nasty Boys aren’t too far and that they could pounce at any time but Sting and Warrior say they are up for the challenge and welcome it whenever they got the GUTS! The Rockers vs Power & Glory w/ Jimmy Hart -This one has been building for quite some time and here we go with the tag title shot on the line. We see all four-men get involved and the Rockers are really on fire right now. They are hammering away with rights and lefts on both men but then it is a double dropkick that takes Hercules out of the ring. This leaves Roma to the Rockers who duck and dodge around him and then nail a double dropkick on him! Hercules staggers up outside the ring and Shawn Michaels runs and leaps over the top rope and splashes him! Jannetty goes up top and hits a cross body on Roma for the 1….2…..3!!! The ROCKERS HAVE WON IT! They will go on to face Anderson and Blanchard at SNME! The crowd pops big time for them! *COMMERCIAL* PT is back with Jesse and Gorilla putting over the big MSG card that will be show right after PT tonight on the MSG network where available and then we see the entrance of the Immortal Hulk Hogan! Hulk Hogan vs Boris Zhukov w/ Slick -The Hulkster is here and he is rocking and rolling. We see a fun little 6-minute contest with Boris working the Hulkster over a little bit but then Hogan hulks up in a big way. We see Nikolai come out but then Hacksaw and Atlas run out and hold him off for Hogan to hit the big boot and then the AXE BOMBA! 1….2…..3! Hogan is the winner and the crowd explodes! Hogan walks over to the booth… Hulk Hogan: Ric Flair! I don’t know who you think you are brother but it is high time for Hulk Hogan to get his hands back on that WWF title and brother you can run but you can’t hide! I am coming for you and all those Horsemen and if it is the last thing I do I am going to come and take that title from you! I agree with the love for the house shows. These are pretty good write ups and very easy to follow. I am really hoping that LeDuc gets on a roll down here.
-
Amazing showcase here from World Class to go along with all the rest of the action. Some of the hot points for me were the Dr. D win and then the perfume spray finish which was fantastic. Like the Andre showcase and the tag title match which kind of gets me excited about Brody and Hansen and what they can truly become here in the NWA. Big time finish for the War Games match which really was the highlight of the show for me and I would have actually put this in the main event with the title change happening before hand due to the spectacle. I enjoyed Kerry winning the title and it really marks a change in the NWA with 3 champions in one year but all three deserving and all three being top tier guys. I think it shows a difference between this and Real Life. Here... you have challengers who COULD TAKE THE TITLE AT ANY POINT rather than Flair who continued to just defend the title without regard. You don't know who is going to win which is the real best part of things but also when that one person, whomever it may be, does go on a longer title run then you will know they are truly the best. Will that person be Kerry? I am not sure... he has the pedigree but also a stack of contenders that will challenge him on every front.

I then went out and looked at some Golden/Fuller stuff... I don't think Golden would go well in the WWF but the Buck gimmick is something they would go with. Just an opinion and better way to write him.
-
What kind of changes could you see happening?
-
In regards to Bunkhouse... I've never seen Golden in any other iteration. I sometimes jump to what I know best but as a lower level guy here hopefully it doesn't ruffle too many feathers. I want to be creative but sometimes I don't have too much to go from with some people.
