Boo Boo face.
-
If they continue on with MJF and Stokley’s group, I wouldn’t mind them sending Morrissey after Wardlow. They haven’t really addressed that so I don’t know if it was a one time thing, maybe MJF hiring them, or if that’s MJF’s new stable.
-
Agreed.
-
I wouldn’t be against Darby, I just don’t know if he’s ready for it. Him vs MJF has a back story, but I’d really like to see Danielson vs MJF, both for the promos and the matches.
-
I like Thunder Rosa, but I’m hoping Storm gets a decent run.
-
I’d love that. Mox/Dragon final. This ref is awkward starting his counts. I like Death Triangle, but not sure about making PAC a double champion. Hopefully Orange Cassidy wins the All Atlantic Title instead.
-
Great promo by Mox, fun stuff by MJF Dragon better win. We’ll see if Page brings his pouty face.
-
Agreed, but maybe he’s still in the doghouse some.
-
MJF cheap pop trying to go ultimate babyface or setting up for turning the tables on the crowd.
-
No new belts but couldn’t resist a tournament.
-
I agree, but can Tony resist the urge to create two more interim championships?
-
Tony Khan kicking off the show with announcements. More belts? A tournament? Both?
-
Maybe the Cabana stuff had been festering but didn’t seem to really become a problem until Page had to drop the belt to Punk. As long as Punk wasn’t in the title picture or interacting with the Elite and their friends everything was ok, or seemed to be. If MJF or Adam Cole had been the one to beat Page for the the title then drop it to Punk maybe all this continues to be avoided.

If no one told them anything, then are the people reporting this lying when they say they are getting this info from ‘sources’ within AEW? I think if you know there’s going to be an issue between two people and they probably aren’t going to be able to coexist, trying to keep it from blowing up before it becomes a problem is the smart thing to do. Maybe some would have preferred that Punk would not have been brought in and blame that on causing an issue for Cabana, but the smarter business decision was to bring in Punk. It would be stupid to not bring Punk in just because of Cabana, because in the grand scheme of things who or what is Colt Cabana to AEW? What could Colt Cabana be to AEW vs what Punk could be? Whether you like him or not, he was one of the few free agents available that could and has moved the needle. AEW’s profits were up. Did AEW need him? Probably not. But Tony Khan wanted him, and a lot of fans wanted to see him. Tony Khan made a choice to grow the company. I can’t blame him for doing that. He didn’t realize and I didn’t either that Colt Cabana was a hill so many people wanted to die on.

It’s entirely possible that the source of the rumors about Punk getting Cabana fired/demoted/transferred was Cabana himself. Either way, Page brought it up on live tv which was the wrong thing to do. Maybe Kenny and the Bucks in Punk’s mind were just guilty by association, but at the same time they are EVP’s. Whether they have any actual power or not, there is the perception that they do and as such they should be trying to help rein in guys like Page from going and doing what he did instead of possibly encouraging or enabling it. I’m sure the Elite and company have discussed Punk among themselves, and could have played a part in riling Page up to the point where he felt he needed to go off script to address it in public for whatever reason. Tony Khan could have definitely put a stop to this nonsense by saying the Cabana decision was his and his alone a lot sooner. At the same time it seems like maybe it’s a means to an end. I think a lot of people want Punk gone, whether he’s fired or quits doesn’t matter, and this is the opening for them to make that happen. Those people may then get ‘their’ company back, but at what cost?

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Are there any adults in the room, vets that can sit everyone down and lay down the law? Regal, Arn, Dustin? At this point just put the World Title on Orange Cassidy and chill everyone the F out.

It’s one thing when you’re a forum poster talking about companies other people own and another when it’s your own company. TK has a front row seat to all this, and maybe this is him getting his billionaire jollies from causing as much chaos as possible and watching it all play out. It’s not my idea of the best way to run a wrestling company. In a perfect world, all this would be planned out and cleared with everyone involved ahead of time, with a clear plan of where everything is going and who is working with whom. As it is, it feels like breaking as many eggs as fast as you can and seeing how many omelets you can make before the eggs go bad. Is there an overarching story here, or a bunch of smaller stories that can play out over time? It’s always hard to do something like ‘WWE guys vs AEW originals’ because of the overlap between heels and faces. WCW at the end kept trying to recreate NWO vs WCW with diminishing returns in the New Blood vs Millionaire’s Club and Magnificent Seven storylines. I don’t know if AEW could or should pull something like that off at this point with Kenny, Page, The Bucks, MJF etc. vs Punk and whoever else they put on that side. I’m still baffled by the ROH purchase and the plans there. I also don’t understand the amount of championships. There are currently 8 AEW championships (9 if we count the interm Women’s championship and the regular Women’s championship separate) plus 6 ROH championships and belts from various other promotions like AAA being defended semi regularly. I’m hoping the solution to keeping everyone happy isn’t to just give them all a title. Right now AEW feels like a company in flux. They have moved away somewhat from where they began. They have added some bigger names who have overshadowed the people that were there from the beginning. The booking feels more haphazard than before. One of the things I fell in love with about AEW was the way the booking flowed especially the progression toward the big events. That seems to be missing now and the last few PPV’s have felt more thrown together. Injuries have surely played a part, on top of the interpersonal conflicts. Now that the roster is mostly healthy and back under one roof, can AEW start moving forward again or are they stuck in a mess of their own making? That’s the biggest question for me, can this all be straightened out or is this what AEW has become for the foreseeable future?

Apparently O'Reilly confirmed it on his Instagram. I'm not a big fan of everyone involved, but the story would have been a good one and probably the match too. Maybe they can still do it in the future once everyone is healed up unless Fish has burned some bridges. I'm actually liking Kenny Omega since he's been back and he's growing on me. Seems more serious and not quite as over the top as before. I think that's a good thing for both him and the Bucks going forward. I worry with the Good Brothers being done with Impact that they might be the replacement for ReDragon in the feud and that's a step down in my eyes.

Regardless of gender, and I’m a Thunder Rosa fan, but if you rank the best talkers in the company I think CM Punk is far above Thunder Rosa. Anyone wanting to read more into it than that certainly can, but I don’t think any woman in the company should be angry that CM Punk gets more promo time than they do. He gets more promo time than almost anyone in the company, and rightfully so.

Actually looks like a decent PPV as they usually are except we don't officially have our main event yet. Most probably it's Punk vs Moxley 2, maybe with a stip? Just please make it make sense, that's all I ask. I wish the tag team title match had some more build/story, but the match should be good. They still have to announce the Casino Ladder Match competitors which is kind of sad. Jericho vs Danielson doesn't really interest me except to hopefully see Dragon kick the crap out of the man of 1004 gimmicks Chris Jericho. The rest all looks pretty good to me.

Haven’t seen any clips but it happened at the beginning of the Burke Invitational Gauntlet Match. Recap from f4wonline ********** --Baby Doll was with Samantha Starr backstage, returning to the NWA. May Valentine noted that she came back to NWA to manager her daughter, Samantha Starr, who Valentine welcomed to the NWA. Starr talked about what it meant for her to go up against the top talent in the NWA in the Burke Invitational. KiLynn King and Samantha Starr started the match, as King looks to continue her rise in the NWA, and Starr looks to make an impact with her mom in her corner. The announcers talked about the family of Grizzly Smith, praising the wrestlers that came from him, but I wouldn’t have done that, given Smith’s history of abuse. Not a good look, despite it being true that it was Starr’s family linage.

I don’t understand what is going on in this company.

Pro Wrestling is a little different than other sports though. The players don't grab a mic in the middle of the game and start calling out ownership or other players over the PA. lol

AEW in ring and on screen for the most part I still mostly enjoy and am interested in week to week. Cody leaving was fine if it was a unique situation, but unfortunately the disputes between wrestlers and Tony Khan and between the wrestlers themselves are ongoing and getting uglier. If it’s mostly a work, I’m fine with that. But with the way the MJF situation blew up it could have been worse but you’ve got another guy who is probably gone when his contract is up. They haven’t done anything with him in months and who knows how or if he will be pushed or presented when he returns if he’s already checked out. Punk and Hangman have been going off script on live television and while they might bring it back around to something in the ring they aren’t really interacting outside of through the media and shooty promos. Plus Kingston and Jericho and Kingston and Punk, it’s all interesting outside of the ring stuff but will we get anything interesting and satisfying inside of the ring out of any of it? Shooty stuff just for shooty stuff’s sake without a purpose or endgame that benefits the shows and AEW is veering too far into Russo end of WCW territory for my liking. At some point someone has to have control and steer all this in the right direction or tell them to cut this crap out.
