  1. The pain management element is interesting. Are these guys just douchebags or are they drinking to deal with physical issues from years in the ring? Has it become a dependency? Also, do we have a time on when this happened? He wasn't coming to or from a WWE show was he? Because that brings back around the stuff from that Bayley interview where the Fox presenter couldn't believe that the wrestlers have to handle their own travel between shows.
  2. I would love that. Relatively quick matches with one marquee 15 minute main would be a good format.
  3. Matanza was a good gimmick for him and a good environment for him because they could use his power but also surround him with a load of gimmick stuff. Only Ishii has gotten a strong match out of him so for but tbh I don't even know if that was a top three Ishii match of the tournament (I haven't seen the Naito match yet though). Ishii is god.
  4. Is it just me or has this tournament somewhat exposed Jeff Cobb? Maybe it's on the booking but he really just comes off as generic hoss wrestler so far.
  5. Everything about him, especially the 'stealing the show' gimmick when he does nothing out of the ordinary and never wins, just screams fake pro wrestling. At least Shawn calling himself the Showstopper could be explained away as him being a guy who did comparatively high flying moves for his era as well as actually winning the championship.
  6. https://www.postwrestling.com/2019/07/24/trish-stratus-set-for-summerslam-match-in-toronto/ Looks like they're doing Charlotte vs Trish
  7. I would assume that the obvious person to have in Cody's corner would be Dustin, seeing that the most recent Tully promo emphasised his knowledge of the Rhodes family. I just wish they had one more show before All Out so they could shoot a good beat down angle on Dustin to heat this thing up some more. I guess they could save that for the TV if they want to keep the feud running longer. The Tully and Mox promos on the latest Road To show were really good btw.
  8. Is it true that Eric is a mark for Ziggler?
  9. I still can't get over that they didn't do a single thing to even try to convince anyone dipping back in to see Austin or whatever that they should check out Summerslam.
  10. Yeah I really can't believe that they had no big angle or even just Austin and Owens both giving out stunners
  11. Gallows looks physically shot. For the money they were offered they might have even taken the cuck gimmick.
  12. They could be super lazy and just do the standard Austin stunning them all segment
  13. How did anyone ever think that Seth was the guy? Just get that belt on Roman and push this geek back to the midcard.
  14. God, I haven't watched the show tonight but just reading this thread has got me excited for a match I know I'll never see
  15. That makes sense. I was thinking that or Okada over Ospreay for the IWGP championship.
  16. Anyone got any thoughts on what the card might be at the London show? I know we need to wait for the G1 to shake out to get a better idea but my friend picked me up a ticket today so the excitement is setting in.
  17. Tony was in the hype video for the Bucks vs Rhodes match that was on YouTube and also aired on the PPV. Now he's in the All Out hype video. If Court is only finding out about this now then he's kinda dumb.
  18. I'm about to watch this show now. Based on a few things I've seen on Twitter and your review, some of the undercard tags seem like more fun than the G1 matches. I've been excited for Mox vs Ishii from the start though so I'm glad it seems to have delivered.
  19. Jim is too old fashioned to be given the book in any company but there are few better people around with an eye for details and running ideas past him to get those extra little elements wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I find myself agreeing with more of what he says about these shows than I initially expect.
  20. https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2842256-who-are-wwes-next-megastars-non-wrestling-fans-predict-the-future.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true This is an interesting article. To cut a long story short, guy organised focus groups and showed them clips of WWE wrestlers. The five with the most star appeal to the groups were Strowman, Bianca, Becky Lynch, Velveteen Dream and Roman Reigns. I'd love to know if WWE themselves engage in this sort of focus grouping and such. It would explain why they doubled down on the Roman babyface push so many times when the path of least resistance would've been to just turn him.
  21. Just done with the Ospreay vs Ibushi match. I agree with Thread Killer that it was absolutely incredible and possibly a MOTYC for me. The injuries added to the realism factor and really got me emotionally invested but in an almost uncomfortable way - I was sure that Ospreay was going to do something stupid and possibly die. Ultimately, the physical limitations probably made them work a smarter match and there was a really great escalation in the offence as opposed to bomb throwing from the get-go. Match of the tournament for me too and possibly the stellar performance needed to kick what has been a good-but-not-yet-great tournament to the next level. On a side note, it was interesting to me that Archer got more over with the crowd than KENTA in their match despite the thing clearly being set up for KENTA to come off as a babyface. He's clearly being pushed strongly and has gotten bigger wins than Archer so far but I wonder how much that push is actually taking with the crowd. To me, Archer is the more engaging performer and may be the one to come out of this G1 as the bigger star of the two. I'd be interested in seeing him get the win over Okada to set up a title match down the line.
  22. I think this tournament is turning me into a ZSJ mark
  23. I've really liked both of ZSJ's matches. MVP of the tournament so far. So I have some hope for this one. To me, ZSJ vs Okada and Jay White vs Ishii have been the best things outside of the opening night.
  24. What was the Bryan announcement?
  25. Deranged Bryan vs a newly fired up babyface Owens could be a fun and heated long-term programme to carry them through the autumn and the first few months on Fox. I kind of feel like the obvious match for Bryan at Summerslam either Roman or Kofi though.
