  1. Maybe they genuinely thought they could sweet talk him into signing back up after he took a few months out
  2. I don't know how you guys paid so much for PPV for such a long time. I've don't think I've ever seen a PPV event in the UK above £15, which is probably around $20. Just a different TV culture I guess.
  3. Pre-show cut off while Cody was mid sentence for us there
  4. The attendance thing was a good bit
  5. If he and Dustin can just reenact that Dustin vs Bunkhouse Buck match from Spring Stampede but with Cody playing Dustin I'd be all over it. Someone needs to get hit with a boot.
  6. Yeah, serious promos to sell the matches would be better than skits at this juncture. This Dustin vs Cody video is good stuff though. I hope they can have a nice heated match that's maybe a bit more old school than others on the card.
  7. Yeah, fair enough. I feel like MJF could be a Miz sort of heel who runs the midcard. He can draw heat.
  8. I don't see why companies can't just use the hard cam instead of making loads of cuts and missing key shots
  9. Of all the people I've seen so far, MJF has impressed me most. Seems like a guy to push once they're on TV. This match is kind of a mess though.
  10. It's being screened on TV in the UK so I'm having no issues
  11. Sorry, but whoever was saying about the masked commentator looking dumb was kinda right imo
  12. I hate this kind of talk because it almost feels like calling anyone who doesn't think Kenny Omega is the best thing since sliced bread dishonest or in denial as opposed to just not having the same taste as you. I happen to think that there are plenty of things about the past that were done better and more effectively than today and, given that the popularity of the wrestling industry was far larger 25-30 years ago, I would suggest that others agree. That's not a knock on Kenny per se, I'm excited to see what he can do with Jericho tonight because I liked the first match. But I'm against this sort of whiggish arc of history thinking where everything is always progressing.
  13. I think he meant as a star though, which is just silly
  14. Dave getting way too online yet again
  15. It shouldn't be the case of Lesnar or no stars though.
  16. Maybe Goldberg doing a clean job will be propaganda enough for them
  17. Not a Jack Whitehall fan by any stretch but he's a well known guy so he's good get for them to do those interviews. The winner of Jericho vs Omega will wrestle the winner of the battle royal to be crowned the inaugural champion. There aren't any standout names I can see in the battle royal listings so far so you'd have to presume there's a big name surprised waiting in the wings. Ambrose/Moxley?
  18. They announced fucking Glacier for the Casino Battle Royale, which is amazing
  19. Yeah, I've gone from being kinda skeptical to just being super excited for something new

    WWE Hidden Gems

I think Waltman hit the nail on the head on this. Magee was someone who could've been coached into being at last being carried to good matches but he would basically have needed to work with a Bret or Ted level worker every night on the house show circuit. But that's not the way they did business back then and those workers were maybe fewer and farther between than later on. If they were still interested in actually training people like that today, Magee probably would've ended up pretty good just from being parked on the NXT Florida loop with experienced workers and just shown sporadically on NXT TV for squashes. I thought the doc was really excellent and it was great to hear from TJ, Davey Boy jr, Waltman and of course Bret Hart and Tom Magee themselves. The scenes with the woman who discovered the tape were well done too.
  22. Jesus, apparently they're running Undertaker vs Goldberg at MurderMania
  23. This story is hilarious because of course WWE backstage is full of petty, bitter pricks but also turning up to work with your award so you can set it on the table is such a strange and extra thing to do imo.
  24. Think it's bizarre to think that people shouldn't look to the past to see what's worked in wrestling tbh. I don't think Vince does that particularly well at all either. His vision of wrestling as it exists today is so divorced from previous eras that it's not really as if he's trying to copy what did big business in the 80s or whatever. I mean, the show structure and the heel authority stuff is straight out of the 90s but I don't think that's a concerted effort to recapture the past as much as it's just sheer stagnation. It'll be interesting to see how Omega does in a weekly TV format. It could be challenging for him really because imo he's not really a good promo and you need to rely on that more on a week to week basis than on work.
  25. Cornette's comments about that sort of stuff really opened my eyes to it. He watched a couple of Raws in the Mania build-up and really seemed bewildered at how many unidentified announcers were talking over each other at any one time for example.
