  1. There is currently no choice so no one is removing anything
  2. WCW would have been fine as long as they kept selling tickets and PPVs. Blaming that on the workers being well paid as opposed to management incompetence is ridiculous.
  3. The argument is so clearly about the fact that WWE expects its talent to behave as employees but doesn't give them employee contracts. I don't see what Parv doesn't get about that or how you square that circle if your only argument is that midcarders you aren't keen on get to stick around a bit longer. Theres still nothing to stop WWE just not renewing his contract once it's up if they don't want him anymore. That's what they're doing now anyway. It isn't like they're releasing anyone these days. And as for the money, the $4 million estimate is a lot of money but realistically, he's not going to earn close to that ever again. Spread that out across his whole life and it's not as lucrative.
  4. If Vince McMahon can only grow his business to the size that it is by offering illegal contracts (because the issue in question is the independent contractor status) then his business shouldn't be the size that it is. And a smaller WWE doesn't necessarily mean less work if you believe that there's a market for the amount of wrestling content that they provide. If that's the case, then other companies would have room to pick up the slack and you'd see an expanded ROH, Impact etc. Because as it is, WWE is hoarding talent beyond what it could possibly use which hurting companies further down the pecking order. And that hoarding is surely not going to last forever whatever the circumstances.
  5. God, there's every chance that the next American election will just be both sides accusing the others of being The Ruskis Hope it at least leads to a new push for Rusev
  6. Dave was talking about New York following suit. Might be tough for WWE to avoid both of the key states for national media. And if there's momentum behind this, it could be a standard policy at least in Democrat states and rolled out nationally depending on how 2020 goes. Hopefully it works out good for the workers, both in wrestling and the gig economy.
  7. A galaxy brain bad take
  8. He would be a perfectly good US champion or something. He can talk and get heat but the work is just ok. Definitely someone for guys to beat on the way up the card as opposed to someone who should be getting month long title programmes.
  9. There was a really good article to that effect on VOW recently https://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2019/09/09/vince-mcmahon-vs-the-wrestlers-market/
  10. Even the most surface level fans are probably dimly aware that Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose are with a new organisation etc.
  11. I like that we're meant to believe that Kevin Owens' whole life would be over without the generous gift of WWE employment granted to him altruistically by the benevolent McMahon's. He's not there because he's a star and a world class wrestler and there's absolutely nowhere else for him to gain lucrative employment as a wrestler.
  12. The Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion and undisputed ace of All Japan, Miyahara has had some hype as one of the best in the world this year. Dave was pimping him as top three, alongside Okada and Will Ospreay. I've noticed some others in the wrestling journalist/podcast sphere pimping him as a great big match wrestler in title matches. I'm completely unfamiliar with modern AJPW though. What do people make of the guy and the claims that he's one of the best in the world? What matches stand out to make that case? I'll eventually get round to watching some of the pimped matches and posting about them myself but I'd love to hear from some of you who are more familiar with the work first.
  13. Seth has a remarkable ability to show himself up any time he's in the vicinity of a real star, exposing that he's not a star at all.
  14. Load Austin up with those freaky Rey Mysterio stem cells and give him the damn belt
  15. To me, a lot of this Kylie Rae rumour stuff has just become about certain people signifying that they're part of the in-group of in the know gossipers. So many of these posts have a 'I know something you don't know' type of sneer to them.
  16. Some of Cornette's points and attention to detail in those reviews is good and worth listening to, some of his criticisms are matters of taste that you can agree/disgree with based on your own taste but a lot of it is also the sort of nitpicking that you'll find anywhere if you're looking to find things to complain about. And its the sort of focused scrutiny that he wouldn't subject any of his favourite wrestling to. Brian Last is kinda unlistenable to me. So many of his talking points are out of date and seem to be made to one-up Cornette's opinions. The least he could do is a little bit of research to fill in the details when Jim is asking questions about the workers or the angles.
  17. Early beats of the story write themselves too. Jericho wants the thank you for AEW's success. Cody is pissed that this arrogant prick almost lost the title that represents everything he's worked for. Give me a couple of nice promo packages and maybe a nasty beatdown on Dustin and I'm ready to go.
  18. Maybe it'll be the finals of that tag title tournament? It also seems pretty natural to programme them with LAX.
  19. I understand, but tickets for that show go on sale today so they need to announce marquee matches ahead of that to get sales moving.
  20. The right match to book imo.
  21. Tbh, having watched the show, I thought the Page vs Jericho match was good and the crowd was fine. Not as loud as what went before, which is obviously a disappointment, but you'd think they were sitting on their hands or turning on the match from the way people were making it out. Doesn't even matter now anyway because Jericho has got 'Little Bit Of The Bubbly' over as a new phrase and the whole lost belt ridiculousness.
  22. Glad they're not hotshotting this for TV to pop a rating vs NXT
  23. Lol, I almost think they'd have wanted it to stay missing a little longer so they can make hay out of the situation. They can quite easily set up an angle from this with Jericho against any of the Elite crew accusing him of being contemptuous of their company. Would be a good way to set up Cody vs Jericho if they want to go that way.
  24. Plenty of other shows have managed to have hot ladder matches AND a hot main event. I think the problem here is that they didn't have a hot main event as opposed to a ladder match that was too hot.
  25. I know people are going to read into what I'm going to say so I'm going to bring up something that would potentially be an explosive story and imply that journalists will cover is up but you should know that I don't actually mean anything by it. Ok then. What a joker.
