  1. Pretty nice and interesting continuity to put over Lawlers bearing and the new rules. I like the Thriller's look.
  2. Nitron aside, this was a great segment. Nate elects for a kin of flagellation to feel anger again like the first time. There's some deep feelings here, and again, deceptively complex performance art here.
  3. Once again Lawler is all that matters here. His body language while Marlin is reading the new rules is great.
  4. Stinker of a poem here. Beautiful hair, bad poem.
  5. That Warrior face on the bag is really funny looking. I'm a huge fan of speed bag spots.
  6. Man id love to see a Lawler/Travis showdown.
  7. LOVE it anytime Prince Charles is mentioned in American pop culture. It's a bygone reference at this point I think.
  8. Man this match is long. Hahahah Lawler just busted out the claw! I think this is my ignorance, but I find it's hard to judge Lawler matches as actual matches rather than segments. It seems to miss the point. But again, I think I'm just missing the point.
  9. The tone of this is very strange, with Jumbo feeling very much like a notch or two above Tenryu. So is this Tenryu's final match before leaving?
  10. So this is the revenge match, I believe from the aborted throat angle. Pillman and Z Man come out hot. As much as I want to see The Midnights work over a babyface, I liked that the offense was more even, or even a little in the faces favor, then usual. It worked with the revenge story. I love the heat Sweet Stan can get with his karate stances. For my money there's no better double team move than the drop toehold/elbow drop. Beautiful Bobby fish-hooks Zenk's mouth something fiecre to set up the face in peril sequence. Beautiful Bobby man, he's untouchable.
  11. I'll give a pass to almost anything with stiff strikes, it's my version of the death match I guess, so I liked this. Simple underdog story here. Takada looked like he wasn't working too hard, and it came off that way. When Maeda did it, it felt like arrogance and underestimating an opponent, but Takada doing it just looks lazy. So maybe that's an issue of charisma for Takada. I loved Anjo's sloppy aggression. That along with the strike exchanges were a real highlight for me, and actually I think this could serve as a good intro for someone looking to get into the shoot style, if they can stand the matwork. That's where this one falls flat for me. Not much urgency there.
  12. I appreciated the subtle aggression here, and the way it came through in the struggles for holds, especially on Fujiwara's part. Really enjoyed Fuji's strike sequence towards the end, and a very cool finish that I wish modern companies would use variations of. I guess the flash rollup is similar but this has much more impact with Fujiwara still looking strong. He looked like a literal old dog while getting punched in the guts. Yamazaki had some good fire here. Cool match.
  13. I agree. I think showing someone a current promotion that they can easily keep up with on a weekly basis is the way to go. Some anecdotal evidence, I got a text from a friend of mine last night saying that he was flipping through channels and came across The New Day and was blown away. He had never really watched wrestling as a child and thought it was really complex and artistic. He watched the rest of the show and was asking me about different characters stories and backgrounds and wants to follow along now.
  14. Billy Jack and his valet are both jacked, and Billy looks insane in whatever little shorts he's wearing.
  15. I liked Maeda working lazy. He came off arrogant and like he didn't have to try because he was better than Nakano. But Nakano gets in a lot of cheap offense an scrappy shots that all of sudden the audience feels like Maeda had underestimated him, but nope! Maeda still wins easily.
  16. I can't think of anything but Billy Jack's shoot interviews whenever I hear him talk. This feels very dark and real. So good promo I guess, but it's uncomfortable to watch, honestly.
  17. This is what I was going to ask in here. I always figured Robocop showed up on tv at some point for an angle and then came back at Capital Combat, but is this it? Is he returning from this clip?
  18. Thanks to Where the Big Boys Play, I just want a Jimmy Jam "YEAH YEAHYEAH YEAHHHH" and we got that here, so I can't be to disappointed. Michael Hayes took some nice bumps early on, but man there was a lot of stalling in this. All that being said though, it was a simple, solid story and RnR worked hard, and I enjoyed it.
  19. Another strong but weird promo due to the dubbing and video quality. Once again, ICW reminds me of David Lynch's wrestling promotion.
  20. $100 won't even buy you and your kids a roun of turkey legs at Disneyland. Scotty the Body references Marquis of Queensbury rules! Four years before the Regal/Flair series of the same name. So I wonder what Marquis of Queensbury actually is and what its relevance is in wrestling.
  21. Sherri totally stiffs Sapphire with that shoe. Tough shot. Tough to pay attention to the angle after the words "Bobby Salsa" popped up on the screen.
  22. Whoa Greg Valentine with black hair in a Honky Tonk Man get up? I want to see where this is going.
  23. Yeah I love any and all weight lifting segments in wrestling. FEED ME MORE
  24. Rude cuts an awesome promo here. Really serious and I like the close up with his hair wet. Looks dangerous.
