Jesse's hat reminds me of the movie UHF when RJ Fletcher tells his son to "take that ridiculous looking thing off." We think he's talking about this insane cowboy hat the man is wearing, but in reality its a fake mustache. I really didn't pay attention to Warrior or Heenan here, Vince and Jesse riding horses is the important thing here.

These Tony Atlas promos are hot, and I think this one might be his best.

[1990-04-28-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jimmy Valiant

Hahaha Dave Brown! This has got me in a good mood here, Valiant with a crown! -
[1990-04-29] The Jerry Lawler Show (yes, this still happened this late!)
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
So that's a Frank Stalone song? I always wondered where that song came from.- 9 replies

Alright I haven't seen John Tatum before, but I'm into this feud. A lot of the Memphis/USWA matches haven't stuck with me but I really dug Tatum here. Might actually be my favorite match from the company or companies so far.

[1990-04-28-USWA-Memphis TV] Jimmy Valiant, Jerry Lawler and Ben Jordan
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Unreal. Lawler gets a lifetime pass because of these segments. No amount of sleaziness, racism, or poor commentary matters, his good material makes up for all of it.- 10 replies

[1990-04-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Hart Foundation vs Rockers
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Cool fast paced match here. Lots of back and forth, with a simple story. This stuff is cool to see in 1990 wwf context, it really stands out among the big man matches. -
[1990-04-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Interview: Ultimate Warrior
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Wow like Chad said, compare Hogan and Warrior post mania here. This is really interesting actually. Right off the bat it seems like they've made the wrong decision going with him as the guy. Ehh that's easy for to say though with 25 years of hindsight. -
It seemed like Flair was destined to be a face in 1990 regardless of the booking, but that ponytail is how you get heat, brother. That thing is greeeeasy.

[1990-04-28-WWF-Saturday Night's Main Event] Hulk Hogan vs Mr Perfect
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Kind of a cool match for Hogan to get his groove back. Not as many crazy Hennig bumps, and I mean, it's a Hogan TV match, but it served a purpose and felt important in that respect.- 13 replies

[1990-04-28-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Hulk Hogan
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
I say in a lot of these things that I wasn't a Hogan fan growing up and have no attachment blah blah blah but this segment got me PUMPED. Hogan is posing something fierce and Vince is almost at STRYDOM levels of adoration on commentary. Hogan is feeling it and it's great.- 9 replies

I really like these past few segments focusing on establishing the new rules. Jimmy sneaking smiles at the crowd is really funny.

[1990-04-24-WWF-San Antonio, TX] Shawn Michaels vs Ted DiBiase
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Wow one of the better wwf matches so far. Shawn shows great fire from his tag experience. It seems like it might be easier to go from tag to singles than singles to tag and be successful. -
[1990-04-23-WWF-Austin, TX] Mr Perfect vs Tito Santana
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Awesome leg work by Tito. I really liked the spot where Tito trips on Mr Perfect and falls out of the ring. I can't tell if it was an accident with quick thinking to make it work or a neat spot. Either way I liked it. -
[1990-04-23-AWA] Ric Flair promos / Twin Wars commercial
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Wow I've never heard of this event before. Woman seems more fired up than usual in the promo. -
I love watching these early promos and finding seeds of Stone Cold. Cool to see this feud heating up.

[1990-04-22-NWA-Main Event] Midnight Express vs Rock & Roll Express
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
I didn't know this match ever happened! Great TV version of a classic feud. My favorite part of the ref spot is Cornette losing it on the outside. Everyone else has brought it up, and I have in other MX matches but Bobby Eaton as the heel with cool offense but still has heat is such a great dynamic and a testament to how good he is. Also really ahead of his time. -
[1990-04-21-USWA-Championship Sports] Music Video: Jerry Lawler

Muzak cover of Dirty Deeds set to Lawler getting busy with the chain. Cool retrospective. The song threw me off.- 10 replies

[1990-04-21-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
I like Lawlers voice here -
There's a similar thread running through the Northwest boys. I can't tell what it is exactly, but I think it's deeper than just "crazy." Like a distance in the mind or something. And speaking of a distant mind, here comes Kerry....

[1990-04-15-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Jack Tunney statement
drew wardlaw replied to Loss's topic in April 1990
Chad has an interesting point about this helping to devalue the IC title. It's clearly looked at as a lesser title here.
