  1. At this point I'm always going to enjoy heavy schtick in matches. Oh! As I'm watching this Gilbert just did a Fargo strut. So schtick AND a Fargo strut? I'm in.
  2. Burning Spirits #32: BJW Road to RYOGOKUTAN & Ishikawa vs Kobayashi Live Watch! A Brennan-centric episode this week features a full review of BJWs Road to Ryogokutan show from Korakuen Hall. We break down the entire card from start to finish, including a legit MOTYC of a main event! We discuss the Junior Heavyweight tournament and give our predictions, and we look ahead to the big Sumo Hall show coming up in July. Then, in a Burning Spirits first, we do a live watch of a notorious death match between Shuji Ishikawa vs Abdullah Kobayashi from September 2010! Its a ghoulish affair as Drew and Kevin howl with laughter as Brennan grows increasingly disgusted by the gory sights. And of course, be sure to listen closely for Burning Spirits Cursed Audio! Recommended Matches: -Shinobu vs Tatsuhiko Yoshino -Strong BJ vs Ryota Hama & Yasufumi Nakanoue -Hideki Suzuki vs Hideyoshi Kamitani http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2017/06/16/bjw-road-to-ryogokutan-shuji-ishikawa-abdullah-kobayashi-live-watch/ https://audioboom.com/posts/6022089-burning-spirits-32-bjw-road-to-ryogokutan-ishikawa-vs-kobayashi [bbvideo=560,315]https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cRgTe9FKVHM
  3. Current favorite wrestler to watch: I'll have to agree with Chad here, Hideki Suzuki. I've been pretty down on him in the past, and pretty into him, but I feel like I fully get it now with his Strong Heavy title run. Last fun match you saw: Minoru Suzuki vs Hiroki Goto NJPW 6/11/17 Wrestler you want to see more of: Taka Michinoku in the 2000s Last live show attended (if applicable/different from last time you answered): N/A Match you're most looking forward to watching: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs BILLY GUNN IN 2017 Last fun interview/promo you saw: Fabulous Ones/Jim Cornette talking about Jackie Fargo in late January/early February 1991. Last interesting thing you read about wrestling: Brennan Patrick'a article on Shotaro Ashino at VOW Last worthwhile podcast you listened to: Alexa Bliss interview on Talk is Jericho Most fun you've had watching wrestling lately: Minoru Suzuki vs Sanshiro Takagi Street Wrestling in Tokyo Dome DDT 6/1/17. Will go down as one of the classic street wrestling matches, incredible twists and turns, endless cameos, such an epic journey. Favorite recent post on this board: nothing specific, I like almost everything I read on here. Favorite thing about the wrestling landscape in the past three months (if you live in the past, then go with your past three months of time-traveling): DDT by far. It's been my favorite promotion since last year I think, and they are really firing on all cylinders. Great variety, logical storytelling in the midst of chaos, terrific high-end matches, hilarious comedy, and an incredibly bright future with Takeshita leading the company and an entire sub brand of young talent.
  4. DDT posted the first 26 minutes here: There's some good stuff there but there's a lot that happens after this stops. Honestly, it's worth signing up for the free month of DDT Universe just to see this thing in full.
  5. WHOA, Mad Paulie as the BUSHI of Damnation is blowing my mind right now.
  6. Yes! Man I love to hear when people sign up for DDT Universe. Thanks for the compliment and for listening as always Chad, it really does mean a lot.
  7. Burning Spirits #31: Ishikawa vs Miyahara, King of DDT, and STREET WRESTLING IN TOKYO DOME! Our longest episode yet! We start off this massive beast discussing the much-talked about and controversial Kento Miyahara vs. Shuji Ishikawa Triple Crown Championship match. We share our thoughts on the booking, future directions and title challenges, various booking philosophies, and of course we review the match itself. We then move on to DDT, where we cover every single match so far in this years King of DDT tournament, and give our predictions on the winner. And finally, the match everyone has been waiting for, truly the greatest match in the history of our sport: Sanshiro Takagi vs Minoru Suzuki at the (empty) Tokyo Dome. We spend upwards of 50 minutes discussing this sprawling epic, including all the twists, turns, and cameos that comprise this incredible match. What is Jun Kasais 2nd job? What two NJPW main eventers lurk in the bowels of the Tokyo Dome? Which Philadelphia stereotype does Genichiro Tenryu resemble? The answers to these questions and more will be revealed, this week on BURNING SPIRITS! Recommended Matches: -Kento Miyahara vs Shuji Ishikawa AJPW 5/21 -Sanshiro Takagi vs Minoru Suzuki DDT 6/1 -Akito vs Dick Togo DDT 6/2 -Keisuke Ishii vs Danshoku Dino DDT 6/2 -Keisuke Ishii vs Shigehiro Irie DDT 6/4 http://www.voicesofwrestling.com/2017/06/09/burning-spirits-31-miyahara-vs-ishikawa-king-ddt-street-wrestling-tokyo-dome/ https://audioboom.com/posts/5996638-burning-spirits-31-ajpw-miyahara-vs-ishikawa-king-of-ddt-and-street-wrestling-in-tokyo-dome
  8. BURNING SPIRITS #29: DDT, K-DOJO, GUTS WORLD, AND MORE! 9. BURNING SPIRITS #28: FMWS 7TH ANNIVERSARY KAWASAKI LEGEND 1996 This week on Burning Spirits we decide to take a trip back in time with special guest Andy Labarre (@trillyrobinson) to review FMWs 7th Anniversary show, and oh what a trip it is! Horror movie villain stables, multiple Jason Voorhees masks, ominous storm clouds, the Rock n Roll Express, and thats just the undercard! This is a wild show to say the least, and it features endless amounts of weirdness and epic spectacles, and amongst all the barbed wire and explosions is one of the greatest matches of all time (but youll have to listen to find out which one)! This show is a blast (literally) so please do yourself a favor and check it out! 10. Rich and Morton have gotten better as a team since Halloween Havoc. Very solid tv tag match here, although with two great sellers like Rich and Morton I wish the structure was reversed. Larry is funny but overbearing on commentary, as usual. We get some classic Arn stuff on the apron and some good selling by him as well. The finish didn't bother me, I'm generally not bothered by nonsense finishes in tv matches so it was par for the course fprmme. Two wcw matches in a row that I was a bit let down by.
  11. This is right in my wheelhouse so I was really looking forward to it. I was a little let down like the rest of you. Bobby was the defacto face but the dynamic wasn't quite clear enough for me, which may have contributed to any Bobby sat in that gold for so long.
  12. Oh wow I posted too soon. Hogan with the pledge of allegiance and calling his arms patriots. Man he really is something.
  13. Was really holding out hope Duggan would headline mania :/. Love Slaughter referring to Hogan as immortal slime.
  14. The little look Hogan gives at the very end is priceless.
  15. What we see isn't great but I like the idea of Duggan being a USA stepping stone to Hogan.
  16. This week on Burning Spirits Drew and Brennan are joined by Timothy (@luchaundead) from This Week in Wrestling and The Lucha Undead Podcast to review Big Japans Endless Survivor show from May 5th. Timothy brings a great energy to the show and provides an interesting perspective as we travel through TLC matches, junior 6-man sprints, light tubes, box cutters, and STRONG SUBMISSIONS. Whats Brennans SCORCHING ~HOT TAKE~ for the night? What were Timothys first impressions of Kenji Fukimoto? Did anyone fall victim to Burning Spirits signature Cursed Audio? Find out this week! 20. This week on Burning Spirits we deviate from the routine with a hefty sample platter from the medium three with some reviews and discussion about DDT, BJW, and AJPW. We start with DDT where we discuss a GREAT Extreme Title bout between Daisuke Sasaki and Dick Togo and an impromptu KO-D title challenge before moving onto the already infamous train wrestling match from last week. Moving onto Big Japan, we look at the #1 contenders match for the strong title and a squash match between Hideki Suzuki and Takuya Nomura that borders on uncomfortable.
