  1. I really enjoyed the article on the Russians coming to Japan. While Dawn of War is fantasy booking, you have given us so much factual information along the way that I feel that that I am really starting to understand what the UWF is all about as well as learning more about technical and shoot style wrestling. Also, looking forward to seeing what Bob Backlund will do here. Just wondering if you know the knowledge of Japanese Wrestling fans to the on-goings of wrestling in America. I can honestly say that while I grew up in the 80's and was 17 years old in 1988 and technology the way it was back then, unless a Japanese wrestler was in the U.S. like a Mr. Saito or Kendo Nagasaki, I knew zero about what was going on in Japn.
  2. Sorry for falling a bit behind here... First for Nov. 10 I really liked Stomper's attack on Canek begore the match. Stomper used to scare the crap out of me as a little kid. An attack by him would have left anyone down and out. I doubt this was the end of the bounty and I am looking forward to a rematch. Orndorff vs Larry Z... love how you set this up with the Battle Royal. To me, this is a perfect AWA feud and I have no idea who is coming out on top. Heel Sgt vs fan favorite Nikita... I could see this going either way. Nov. 17 First, I was so excited for Terry vs Kerry on tv but then I was afraid that this might be the end for one of them... great locker room brawl and now I am excited as I know there is more. I hope this goes on for months. Taylor vs Diamond is a great tv bout... like the double count-out. I almost forgot about what Black Bart did to Iceman... really looking forward. Title Night I always think that an event like this before Super Clash needs at least one title change but it is hard as you have your angles already going for the super big event. Nice job having The Gunslingers get the belts. I was really wondering which way you would go with Colon and Jumbo. You really couldn't go wrong either way and now we get a huge bout. Larry Z vs Orndorf was one other match I thought could have had a title change but really liked how you did this. With Jumbo getting the win, I had a feeling Nikita would survive this bout with Sarge but WOW, what a match. Really can't wait till Super Clash.
  3. Really enjoying the story between RPG and Fargo. It seems Fargo expects to see some sort of athlete but RPG is trying to hide all of this. Wonder if and when Fargo will return. The chaos at the opening got everyone interested and then we go right through to the win by JT. Exciting 30 minutes.
  4. EPISODE #16 NOVEMBER 18, 1988 Update on Season’s Beatings and Wrestlecade We already knew that the main event at Clash of Champion’s: Season’s Beatings on December 7 in Baton Rouge, will be a $50,000 Battle Royal where the winner would receive a WCW World Title Shot at Wrestlecade: True Grit on December 26th at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio. Last week Jim Herd added two matches to that event. First, Jimmy Valiant vs Rip Rogers was added with the stipulation that if the Boogie Woogie Man wins the match, he gets a date with Terri Powers. Also added was a United States Tag Team Title match between The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) vs The Lightening Express. This week, Jim Herd came out and gave the rest of the rundown for Season’s Beatings. First, Lord Humongous with Oliver Humperdink will get his first test against a non-jobber as he takes on ½ of the Young Guns in Kendall Windham. We also find out that The Samoan Swat Team will face Dick Murdoch & Stan Hansen and the winner will get a WCW World Tag Team Title shot at Wrestlecade. In a very interesting announcement, we also here that we will get the first installment of Piper’s Pit in WCW and Piper’s special guest will be none other than Terry Funk! Finally, it became official. Hacksaw Butch Reed’s time in the Nation is not only over but Reed will be facing Snowman and Kareem Muhammed with a partner of his choosing. Nothing really new on the Wrestlecade front. We already know it will be “Dangerous” Dan Spivey facing off against Lex Luger for the United States title unless Luger wins the Battle Royal at Season’s Beatings and then he will get a World Title Shot at Wrestlecade and a new opponent for Dan Spivey will be named. Wrestler’s Getting a Push The Dirty White Boys get another win this week and continue to claim that even though they are new around here that they deserve a U.S. Title shot and not the Lightening Express. In fact, they challenge Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner to a match next week where the winner gets the match for the U.S. Title at Season’s Beatings. We do find out later that The Lightening Express did accept that match for next week. Don Muraco gets his fourth straight win on TV as he steps up in competition this week with a win over Sweet Brown Sugar with the Hawaiian Hammer. Muraco walked right past Roddy Piper this week and headed to Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross. Muraco was fuming. He claimed that all he hears in the back is those two idiots praising the likes of Sting, Lex Luger, Ted Dibaise but they say nothing about him. Before walking off, he gets right in their faces and makes Schiavone and Ross say that he is “The Magnificent One.” It was obvious that both announcers were a little shaken from the near attack of Muraco. Lord Humongous’ roll continues with a destructive win over Ray Scagnello. Scagnello was just the latest victim to be left crumpled in the ring after the powerbomb. Piper again tried to antagonize both Humgongous and Humperdink but Humperdink just chuckeled at him at said that he if he is not careful, Humongous will take care of him right after he leaves Kendall Windham in a mangled heap at Season’s Beatings. Piper wonders what “takes care of him” means and wonders if it will hurt with a hockey mask on. Ron Simmons gets another impressive win this week as he defeats Randy Jones. His interview with Piper was interrupted by Hacksaw Reed who was wondering if he wanted to be Reed’s partner at Season’s Beatings against Snowman and Kareem Muhammed. Simmons accepted but wasn’t as eager as you might expect. He did have concerns about Reed seemingly constantly switching from good to bad and vice versa. Simmons did question Reed’s loyalty and motives. Piper seemed to enjoy this and gave a lot of sound effects as Simmons seemed to test Reed. Later in the show, Snowman and Muhammed had an easy win over Luke Mitchell and Caled Johnson. When they had their time with Piper, they were having a big laugh at Reed’s expense. They even went so far as to point out that even a rookie like Simmons could point out Reed’s lack of loyalty which they said was there exact problem with him during his time in the Nation. The Lightening Express! Since the arrival of the Rock n Roll Express, Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner were pushed to the number two babyface team in pursuit of the U.S tag titles. With the injury to Robert Gibson, The Lightening Express are back as the top team in pursuit of the Latin Connection as they will be looking for revenge for their good friend Robert Gibson at Season’s Beatings. Everyone else on the Season’s Beatings card had an on-air win and did their best to hype up their big match. “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen had another easy win and this time they did seem to be on the same page as both Murdoch and Hansen couldn’t wait to get their hands on the Samoan Swat to his good friend, the American Dream that Terry Funk is a real snake in the grass and that he needed to be real careful with the man from Amarillo, Texas. Ricky Morton wrestled in a rare singles match as Robert Gibson is recovering from his devastating eye injury caused by the Latin Connection and the Guerrero Hair Removal Cream. Morton defeated Jimmy Del Ray in one of those fan favorite vs fan favorite matches that everyone loves. The match started and ended with a handshake and Morton got the win with a missile drop kick. Piper played it cool during this post-match interview as he knew everyone wanted to hear Ricky give an update on his long-time tag team partner. Unfortunately, the news Ricky gave us was not too positive. It seems like Robert is not reacting well to treatment and still has not gotten back his vision in his right eye and he may require surgery. Piper, acting sympathetic, asked for a timetable for Robert’s return. Ricky said he really had no idea at the current time. This is when the interview took a turn for the worse. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt strutted out to the podium. Eddie, pretending to cry, sniffled out the words, “Nobody cares about you or your blind partner. Just go get a Seeing Eye Dog and go off in the woods and stay out of the way of the Hottest Wrestler in the business today… the one with the WCW World Television Title… the face of the franchise! WHAM… It was obvious that Ricky was not in a playful mood as he leveled Gilbert and then walked off. Roddy Piper was full of laughs and wondered if Missy might be going to whereever they sell Seeing Eyed Dogs and buy one for “Hot One with the Black Eye.” Dusty Rhodes’ Response to his attack last week on Terry Funk When “The American Dream” came out to talk to Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross, they both said they were a little surprised last week when Dusty came out and attacked Terry Funk. Jim Ross said it seemed like it was a bit of a role reversal as that would be something they would expect from Funk. Dusty Rhodes: Jim… ya know the American Dream respects everything you do, brother but in this case, you just don’t get it. I sat back two weeks ago and listened to what that Egg Suckin Dog talked about. He talked about how he’s been the one whose been wronged in this situation. He talked about how The Dream was the one who kept pushing the red button. He talked about how I cost him the World Title… That’s not true. I just beat his sorry “you know what” from pillar to post. I was the champ, not him. He talked about how I walked out on him in a tag title bout against the Briscos… That’s not true. I was stuck with him by some stupid stipulation. Jack and Jerry Brisco were class acts that he tried to cheat out of the title. Then he goes on to explain how I attacked his family when I went after that red-headed step child, Jimmy Jack Funk. Well… I guess that’s true but anytime I can but anytime I can pummel a Funk, I’m going to do it. Now take nothing away from Terry Funk but I aint going to wait another moment. I’m telling you right now Jim Ross that each and every time I see Terry Funk, I’m going on the attack. WCW isn’t big enough for the two of us…. This sport isn’t big enough for the two of us… Heck, this world aint big enough for the two of us. Tony and Jim… if you two don’t like what I did last week, you’d better close your eyes cause you aint seen nothing yet Daddy O! The American Dream is on the Warpath!!
  5. I enjoy all the different type of matches here like the round system. While I have seen a few wrestling matches done this way and hated all of them, I think in your set up with the shoot style, it makes the matches seem more legit.
  6. Great use of your tv shows to sell tickets to your biggest event of the year. I think the Tully-Garvin match is going to be awesome. Tully is the man right now but at times in his career, Garvin was really over and I could see the NWA using him to get those big crowds all over the Mid-Atlantic. Wahoo-Lightfoot. I think that this is one of those feuds that makes Dawn of War and fantasy wrestling so much fun. In real life, I think Wahoo was much higher up the totem pole then Lightfoot but here, with your patience and development, you have made this a match that is unpredictable. Nice work! I also like all the other wrestlers getting a nice push but not yet in a major angle. I read somewhere that many of the 80's promotions liked to have no more than 4 angles.... their top champ and tag champ and then two other random ones while everyone else just wrestled someone else. I think you are getting everyone quality work where they could, if you wanted, step right into your next big storyline.
  7. I think we all can tell that we are our way to a JT-Reno feud but I wonder Baxter sides with. Very well done here! I think the two best teams in MCW might be the ones without the belts in the Renestos and the Nightmares. Looking forward to watching all of these teams battle. I had a feeling the Assassin would put a beating on Knighton but he would not get the victory. Again, really like how you wrote this up! You're doing a great job of making this all have a big time feel while running a small promotion. Great work
  8. WCW adds Tommy Jammer and then drops out.
  9. WCW adds King Cobra
  10. EPISODE #15 NOVEMBER 11, 1988 Sorry for the short form. It might be this way for a while Update on Season’s Beatings and Wrestlecade Last week we were informed by Jim Herd that the main event at Clash of Champion’s: Season’s Beatings on December 7 in Baton Rouge, would be a $50,000 Battle Royal where the winner would receive a WCW World Title Shot at Wrestlecade: True Grit on December 26th at the HemisFair Arena in San Antonio. This week we start to see those cards develop as we add two matches to Season’s Beatings. First, “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant will face “The Hustler” Rip Rogers. After Valiant stole two kisses from Terri Powers in recent weeks, Rogers was so angry that he allowed Valiant to pick any stipulation that he wanted just to make sure Valiant signed the contract. Valiant didn’t hesitate as he said that if he wins the match, he gets a Date With Terri. Also, as a result of the injury to Robert Gibson, the Rock n Roll Express will not be getting any WCW U.S. tag title shots in the near future. Jim Herd was really angry at the Latin Connection for their attack on Gibson last week with the Hair Removal Cream. When both Mando Guerrero and Ricky Santana came off as very unsympathetic and seemed pleased with their actions against the Rock n Roll Express, Jim Herd, angrily, told the Latin Connection that they would have a title match at Season’s Beatings and that that it would be against The Lightening Express. (Brad Armstrong & Tim Horner) As for Wrestlecade, we find out that it will be “Dangerous” Dan Spivey facing off against Lex Luger for the United States title. Ric Flair tried to act disappointed but this meant that even if Lex Luger won the Battle Royal at Season’s Beatings, he would not get the WCW World Title shot. Flair said that he really wanted to put that muscle-bound meat head in his place. Jim Herd, for the third time in two weeks, came back out on the set and said that if Luger won the Battle Royal, he would indeed get the WCW title shot at Wrestlecade and they would come up with a contingency plan for the U.S. title match. The Horsemen, well Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, quickly changed their tunes and complained about Luger getting special treatment while you could almost see the lightbulb go off in Spivey’s head. He now seemed to have figured away to avoid Luger at Season’s Beatings. Women seemed to catch Spivey’s reaction out of the corner of her eye. Wrestler’s Getting a Push This week saw a new tag team on the scene in WCW as the Dirty White Boys from Bucksnort, TN had their first match and let’s just say that they bullied their way to an easy win over Allen Tab and Keith Steiborn! In their post-match interview Piper made sure to let everyone know that there seemed to be some stench around the interview area as he held his nose as soon as the Dirty White Boys arrived. The DWB’s ignored Piper and let everyone know that they were there for two reasons… first to take out the Lightening Express and then to win gold! Don Muraco gets his third straight win on TV as he easily defeats Jon Graves with the Hawaiian Hammer. Piper and Muraco continue to banter back and forth but it is hard to tell if they are arguing like best friends or sworn enemies. Lord Humongous continued to destroy everything in his path with another 30 second win with the powerbomb on Ferd Steckel. This week Piper left Humongous alone but quickly turned his insults on Oliver Humperdink. First, he wondered if Humperdink had anything on his mind for a change, but he quickly cut him off when he started to speak. Piper asks Humperdink if he is lonely because the only person he seems to be around is a man wearing a hockey mask who doesn’t speak. Humperdink quickly says that he is never lonely. Piper says that is a good thing as he is often lonely… but that is only because it is lonely at the top and that he understands why Humperdink is not lonely as he is clearly at the bottom! Ron Simmons just continues to rack up the wins as he gets another over Jason Walker. When asked by Piper if he is a member of the American Red Cross, he seemed confused. Piper went on to explain that he always seems to be the one rushing in to help someone as he recently came to the aid of Dusty Rhodes against Jimmy Jack Funk and Black Bart and then last week, he saved Butch Reed from the Nation. Simmons just said that he was raised to do what is right. Piper said that he has been in this business a long time and is grateful to his parents for raising him to do what is right for himself and that Simmons better watch his back. Sting and Lex Luger! Both got easy singles wins on television this week and their post-match interviews, they continued to focus on the Horsemen. Luger is really pleased at his match for the U.S. title at Wrestlecade against Spivey but did mention that he wouldn’t mind “trading up” to a WCW World Title match against Flair if he won the Battle Royal at Season’s Beating’s. Sting also wants to win the battle royal but screamed how excited he was as it looks like the beginning of the end of the Horseman! Spivey won’t be the U.S. champion after Season’s Beatings and just maybe, Ric Flair will be profiling and limo riding without those 10 pounds of gold around his waist. Is Bounty Gate Over? While the angle of who was going to collect which bounty between the WCW World tag team champions (Dibiase & Dr. Death) and Gary Hart seems to be over, the two still seem focused on one another. Hart is demanding a world tag team title match for his Samoan Savages as he claims they are the most devastating tag team in wrestling. It would be hard to deny that claim. Even though they have only been in WCW a short time, they have left everyone who has dared to get in their way a crippled mess and that incudes Dibiase and Dr. Death. Dibiase and Dr. Death make a fair claim that they were attacked from behind but still they seemed no match for the Savages. There still has not been an official announcement if these two teams will meet at either of the two big December events but it is obvious that both teams want a piece of the other. The Goals of Stan Hansen & Dick Murdoch “Captain Redneck” Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen had another convincing win as they easily defeated Moondong Moretti and Big Money Marcus. It was interesting once again as they seem to be somewhat divided on their goals. Stan Hansen wants a title shot as Dibiase and Dr. Death while Murdoch wants to make sure his old pal, Dusty Rhodes, has all the support he needs in his current situation with Terry Funk. Hacksaw Butch Reed vs The Nation (Snowman & Kareem Muhammed) It seems that both sides have had enough of each other. After Snowman won his singles bout this week against Jimmy Del Ray, he was joined at the podium by Kareem Muhammed. After Roddy was done wondering if he should great them or just put a fist in the air, Snowman and Muhammed once again focused on how Butch Reed has lost his way. They were upset on his pursuit of Eddie Gilbert and the WCW TV title instead of the cause. Roddy got a real dirty look when he asked if the cause was running out to the local clothing store and buying up all the back gloves in the store, but Snowman ignored it and went right back saying the cause is not bowing down to the authority and not being a puppet to the likes of Jim Herd and the rest of those in power. Muhammed finished up by saying that being a part of the Nation was a lifelong commintement and that it was now the Nation’s job to put an end to Hacksaw Reed’s time in WCW. After Hacksaw’s win this week against Larry Cheatum, he went on a rampage about how Snowman and Muhammed were just jealous that he was the one getting title considerations while they were riding his coattails. Reed even went so far as to take the gimmick off of Muhammed. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Ya’ll know why Muhammed started all this Nation nonsense to begin with. It’s for attention. It’s an attempt to stay relevant. He was a nobody. He was on his way out of the sport. He couldn’t get it done. Kareem Muhammed is …. Ray Candy! That’s right… the overweight, washed up wanna-be. Ray Candy… the man that looks like he ate all the candy… and he is going to run me out of wrestling? Come on! Dusty Rhodes-Terry Funk As Terry Funk came out to give another promo with Roddy Piper, he was attacked by Dusty Rhodes before he could even get in his first insult. It is rare to see a babyface use such a heel tactic as Pearl Harboring someone but that showsim how personal this feud is. After a few minutes of Dream slamming Funk’s head off of any thing he could find, including his Bionic Elbow, the ring post and the podium, Funk was a bloody mess. As the show was running out of time and Tony Schiavone was signing off, Terry Funk could be heard with a maniacal laugh like he was enjoying this.
  11. WCW adds JW Storm
  12. WCW adds Denise Storm
  13. I have explained to all involved in this game, that I am past my comfort zone in terms of wrestling knowledge. I have also welcomed all the help that I can get in terms of making the rookie list and I am grateful for the help of the writers who added names to our list and to those who helped explain that certain wrestlers did not belong on the list. Our rules also allow for retired wrestlers to wrestle for up to a month in a promotion every year. That could be like 7 months if everyone took a run at them. I believe we currently have about 12 retired wrestlers working in some fashion in a promotion. So anyone who wants a "Chick Donovan" on their roster, go for it. This is also Fantasy Wrestling. This is for fun. If the truth gets stretched a bit, we will live with it. I have seen promoters in our game force wrestlers into early retirement just because they did not like the way the promoter used them in real life. (Fritz and Mike Von Erich) We all have rushed a person too early, pushed them too late in their careers but I can honestly say that I have enjoyed writing for Dawn of War and reading the many different promotions we have had throughout our years. In terms of a reboot, we have seen 6 or 7 full attempts at a new game on this website alone. They all seemed to have lasted a few months at best. Dawn of War is heading into its 6th year. Myself, Spaldoni and Rain have been together the entire time and we have been lucky enough to add our other current creative writers: Jimmy Jack, Autistic Dragon, Lowblow, LastStopTour and Control21. We have also had many writers who have joined and left us over the years. This is not for everyone but everyone is welcomed back. While we have had some disagreements over rules, we have always come to a fair decision as all writers have equal voting power. If anyone currently involved in our game would like to amend a rule please send me a note and I will put it out there to the group. If anyone wants a reboot, feel free to start your own game. I have supported others attempts at this and always welcomed back writers who have tried it. In the end, this is for fun. We do not want to keep anyone from using their creative juices nor do we want to hamstring anyone with our rules.

  20. Survivor Series is looking great.
  21. Love the venue!!! MCW now has a great home for a weekly big show if you chose. It is the Mid-South Coliseum of Nashville.
  22. By our rules, 1 match would make him eligible. That would make him eligible for UWF if Control wants him until 1995.
  23. I agree with Spaldoni about the importance you've put on the 6-Man title and this is right out of the NWA playbook. Great booking. Nice job getting us ready for Starrcade. Can't wait.
  24. I think the Nightmares have found the perfect home. I do wonder if the Nightmares get that title shot before the Renestos. Dark Journey and Miss. Kentucky continue to steal the show! Not sure Reno was too excited about JT and Baxter teaming up. This is one we need to keep an eye on.
  25. Thanks. I will fix that.
