  2. AFTER A LONG HIATUS, MEMPHIS WRESTLING IS BACK! Championship Wrestling Association: Episode #1: October 12, 1989 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. Lance Russell: Yellow again everybody. Lance Russell and Dave Brown here for Championship Wrestling. By golly we’ve got s goof program for ya’ll tonight. Dave Brown: We do indeed Lance and by the way, we also have a new Southern Heavyweight Champion. Lance Russell: Yes we do and we will get to that in just a few minutes. First let me tell all these great fans whats coming up in the next hour. Our opener will showcase “The Hustler” Rip Rogers facing off against Jay Tibbs. Then we’ve got none other than the King, Jerry Lawler facing off against The Dirty Dutchman, Dutch Mantel. The Southern Tag Team Champions, The Studd Stable will also be in action. The Dirty White Boy will be defending his Tri-State Title against Kendall Windham and it our final match of the day, it will be the Freebirds vs The Masked Executioners. Suddenly, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt interrupt the segment! Lance Russell: Well folks, we did mention that we did have a new Southern Heavyweight Champion and the appearance of one Eddie Gilbert without his title proves that we were telling the truth. Last Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum, Jeff Jarrett defeated Eddie Gilbert and JJ is your new champion. Eddie Gilbert: That’s right Lance, I did lose the belt on Monday but I bet that there is no video of that match. Lance: No, have that we do not ready right now. Eddie Gilbert: Well that figures. Folks let me explain to you what happened. I beat Jeff Jarrett all over that ring. I had him crying like the little sissy boy he is. I almost felt sorry for him so I put him out of his misery by pinning him 1..2..3, right there in the center of the ring just like everybody knew I would. I mean I can beat Jeff Jarrett every day of the week and before and after church on Sundays. So, what happened after the ref counted Jarrett out? Let me tell you no good fans exactly who is to blame! It is the King… Jerry Lawler. I mean I won the match. The ref counted Jeff Jarrett’s shoulders to the mat for the count of three. He handed me my belt and then here comes Lawler! He walks straight to that ref who seems to have his hands in Lawler’s pockets, the most crooked referee ever to work in wrestling… Jerry Calhoun! Lawler tells Calhoun that the pin was caused because my feet were up against the ropes. Next thing I know, Calhoun grabs the belt from my hands, calls for the bell and restarts the match. Wham… from behind, the yellow-bellied coward, Jeff Jarrett comes up from behind and rolls me up for the fastest three count in the history of the world. Let me ask you this Lance. have you ever seen a team win the Superbowl and then the coach complain about a call and the ref takes the Superbowl trophy away? Don’t worry, you don’t have to answer that question as we all know the answer is NO! It was ridiculous. It was wrong and it was just another example of how Lawler is a cheater. Now listen up Lawler… if you got the guts, come face me this Monday in the Midsouth Coliseum. Just me and you… one on one. No rules. Referee only allowed in the ring to make a count. Let’s see what you can do without your pet zebra in the ring to protect you. As Eddie and Missy walk off, Lance hypes up the big challenge before sending us to the ring for our first match. MATCH #1 “The Hustler” Rip Rogers beat Jay Tibbs with the Ripperplex In his post-match interview, Rip explains that he is in search of a new valet and even though Memphis is known worldwide for having the ugliest women in all of the United States, he hopes that he can find just one women around here who takes care of herself and wants to help the most athletic man in all of wrestling answer the stupid letters that all these fans keep sending him. As Rip leaves, Jerry Lawler comes in. Jerry Lawler: I mean are you kidding me? That just proved that Rip Rogers is too stupid to even read. Does he think we believe that he has ever gotten even one piece of fan mail? I mean I think death threats are more likely than fan mail. Lance Russell: Now, now Jerry. How about we get to the big question at hand. Eddie Gilbert was out here earlier, and he challenged you to a No Rules… Ref on the Outside of the Ring Match for this Monday at the Midsouth Coliseum. What are your thoughts? Jerry Lawler: Yea I heard him, Lance. Instead of running his mouth about me costing him the Southern Heavyweight title by interfering in his match, how about we remind everyone just what Eddie Gilbert did to me two weeks ago when I was supposed to face Robert Fuller at the Mid-South Coliseum, and he snuck up behind me on my way to the ring and hit me over the head with a chair. Then he and that snake Fuller decided to take turns using my head as a pinata. Eddie Gilbert all you are is a big, spoiled brat and of course I except your challenge for Monday night. We don’t need any rules. We don’t need any referee. All we are going to need is a whole team of medics to take care of you when I am through with on you. I may even have a little surprise for you Monday night. Lance Russell: Well all right then. There you have it. Jerry “The King” Lawler and “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert going at with No Rules this Monday at the Coliseum. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR THE MIDSOUTH COLISEUM ON MONDAY Before our next bout, we get a very humble interview from the new Southern Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett goes on to thank the fans for their support and thank Jerry Lawler for letting Jerry Calhoun know about Eddie Gilbert’s shenanigans. Lance Russell hypes up the fact that he will be having his first title defense against “The Dirty Dutchman” Dutch Mantel this week in the Coliseum and Jarrett seems to understand that he better be ready for the unexpected here as Dutch is just as likely to bend the rules in his favor as Eddie Gilbert was last week. This brings Dutch out who takes offense to Lance calling him a cheater. Dutch also gets right in the face of the young Jarrett and lets him know that he has been wrestling since Jarrett was in diapers and that he is going to make JJ’s title reign, the shortest in CWA history. Jarrett, smirks, as he reminds Dutch that he might be getting just old enough to start wearing diapers again and that he is ready for anything Dutch tries to pull. WHAM… Dutch went to clock JJ with a big right hand but JJ blocked it and returned one of his own. JJ simply told Dutch he would see him in the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday and walked off. Mantel is screaming about what happened but Lance simply tells him to head to the ring as “the King” is waiting. MATCH #2 “The King” Jerry Lawler vs “The Dirty Dutchman” Dutch Mantel This big-time match only goes for about 5 minutes before Eddie Gilbert charged the ring and attacked Lawler. The 2-1 attack has Lawler in trouble, and you can just tell from the aggressiveness of Gilbert, that he really does blame Lawler for losing his belt. The crowd erupted as Jeff Jarrett rushed the ring to even out the sides. Eventually, Lawler and JJ take control of the ring with the heels standing on the studio floor shaking the cobwebs from their heads. After the brawl, the heels go to the locker room and Lawler and JJ go to the podium, where JJ is upset at Dutch Mantel and says that he get wait for Monday night to shut Dutch Mantel up once and for all. Lance does explain to the young Jarrett that it might take more then a beating to shut up Mantel as he has been running his mouth for a long, long time. Once Lawler and JJ leave the podium, the Studd Stable (Robert Fuller and Sid Eudy) come out to talk with Lance with Women as their valet. They are wearing long robes and when they open the ropes, we see the Southern Tag Team Titles around their waists. Robert Fuller: Hey Lance, we got something we gotta clear up right here and now. Last week you should a video of Sid and I out partying with a whole lot of beautiful people, having a great time and then that loud mouth, Michael Hayes came out her running his mouth about how we lost our focus. About how he and Jimmy Garvin are the only tag team in the world today that can party every night and still get the job done. Well let me tell you one thing Michael Hayes… our number 1 focus is this here Southern Tag Titles but if you are what is considered our toughest competition then we can party all day… all night… and all day again and still whip you two sissy boys from pillar to post! Lance Russell: Well we will just see about that this Monday night at the Midsouth Coliseum as those Southern Tag Titles will be on the line against the Fabulous Freebirds! Sid Eudy: (laughing) See Freebirds… look at me… look at you! I am the epitome of a Studd! Six foot eight inches of pure muscle. You two puny sissy boys talk about how you two party every night down in Hotlanta… You talk about staying up all night down on Bad Street. Well that’s the difference. You two got to look for a party while when you are like us… two Studds… the party comes to you. And for us… this Monday at the Midsouth Coliseum will just be another party for Robert and I as we wipe the floor with you two and when I break you in half with the powerbomb… your career is over! COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR THE MIDSOUTH COLISEUM ON MONDAY MATCH #3 Tri-State Champion The Dirty White Boy vs Kendall Windham We get a pretty good back and forth bout for about 4 minutes but just as Kendall Windham looked to be gaining the momentum, The Dirty White Boy twisted that forearm brace to loaded it up and clobbered Kendall without the ref seeing. To make things worse, the DWB refused to pin Windham and kept pulling him up before the count of three and nailing Windham one more time. Finally, the crowd erupted as Lance Russell hyped up that Brad Armstrong was rushing to the ring to help Windham. Russell, also quickly noted that this Monday night in the Mid-South Coliseum, it would be The DWB and Armstrong battling for the Tri-State Championship. The Dirty White Boy rushed to meet Armstrong and the two exchanged a few blows in the center of the ring before the DWB headed for cover. The problem was that Armstrong thought the brawl was over and went to the end of Windham. This is when the DWB climbed the ropes and nailed Brad with one of those loaded forearm shots to the back of the neck. The DWB was all laughs as he left both Windham and Armstrong sprawled out on the floor and headed over to Lance Russell. Lance Russell: Come on Dirty White Boy… that was uncalled for. DWB: Shut up Lance Russell! You know what’s uncalled for. It’s me having to waste my time on Monday night defending my title belt against Brad Armstrong. I mean, what did it take… 30 seconds for me to lay him out. Lance Russell: Yeah and you did it just like a real man… I mean a cheap shot to the back of the head. Come on now! Folks, lets go to break. COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR THE MIDSOUTH COLISEUM ON MONDAY As we come out of break, we get a video of Hector and Chavo Guerrero who will soon be joining Championship Wrestling. We see some awesome moves but also a lot of dirty tactics. The Guerreros seem to be very proud of their black Mexican sombreros as they let every know that Memphis will never be the same after the Great Guerreros come to town. Lance Russell let’s everyone know that the Guerreros are two of the best wrestlers in the world, but chaos seems to follow them wherever they go and that fans should be ready! MATCH #4 The Freebirds vs The Masked Executioners This match is pretty wild but that is right up the Freebirds ally as we eventually see Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin connect with double running bulldogs for the win. Garvin and Hayes head over to the podium where they are all fired up about their Southern Tag Team Title match on Monday against the Studd Stable. Michael Hayes: Lance… A little while ago I was in the back, and I couldn’t stop laughing at the Studd Stable. I mean do they really think they can out party the Michael “Purely Sexy” Hayes and Jimmy Jam Garvin. Not a chance in the world and that’s the same chance they have of keeping those belts after Monday. Jimmy Garvin: Ooohhhh Michael you are so right! I mean Sid Eudy was talking about him being the perfect male specimen. Wasn’t it just a few months ago that he was running around here wearing a hockey mask covering up that ugly face of his. Monday… Studd Stable …. You’re going to find out what Freebirdmania is all about! We are the best there was… the best there is…. And the best their ever will be! COMMERCIAL BREAK-PROMOS FOR THE MIDSOUTH COLISEUM ON MONDAY MATCH #5 Brad Armstrong says there is no sense waiting to Monday and challenged the DWB just a few minutes ago as a result of the DWB’s nonsense against Kendall Windham earlier tonight. TV TIME REMAINING MATCH TRI-STATE TITLE MATCH The DWB vs Brad Armstrong While this one sounds great on paper, it goes only about 3 minutes before complete chaos. Eddie Gilbert hits the ring first and goes right after Brad. This is followed by Jeff Jarrett who just took the title from Gilbert last week. Here comes Dutch Mantel after JJ. Next, we get The Studd Stable but they are caught by the Freebirds before they even get to the ring. Finally… “The King” Jerry Lawler hits the ring and as we are signing off for the night, we see Lawler on the top rope coming off for a fist drop on Eddie Gilbert. Lance Russell: Pure chaos as usually here folks. Hope to see ya’ll out at the Mid-South Coliseum this Monday night. Until next time, this is Lance Russell and Dave Brown saying See Ya at the Matches! MIDSOUTH COLISEUM CARD FOR MONDAY Rip Rogers vs “The Fab One” Steve Keirn The Masked Executioners vs Kendall Windham & Sam Houston Tri-State Title Match The Dirty White Boy © vs Brad Armstrong Southern Tag Title Match The Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Sid Eudy) vs The Freebirds (Hayes & Garvin) Southern Heavyweight Title Match Jeff Jarrett © vs “The Dirty Dutchman” Dutch Mantel NO RULES-REF OUTSIDE THE RING Jerry “The King” Lawler vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert

  9. Very interesting format. Nice job!
  10. Wow... the amount of work you put into WrestleRock is just awesome!! I really enjoyed the details to your matches. I really struggle with this but you knocked it out of the park. I especially loved the one with Colon vs Sawyer. It had so many great visuals like the baseball bat and the trash can! I also commend you for having such a diverse card. It truly had something for everyone.... The ECW-like match with Colon-Sawyer as I already mentioned. The old time Western brawl with Hansen and Blackjack... Loved this one!!! It is really in my wheelhouse. All the stars who would draw in the more casual fan like Foreigner, ZZ Top, Phylicia Rashad and Tex Cob! Cobb with the big blow to Larry Z was awesome! Grudge Matches like the Loser-Leave Town Match for the tag titles was great! New appearances like the Renegade Warriors Return of big names like the RnR Express! Babyface turns.... Loved seeing Jake nail Greg Gagne! and lets not forget the big one... Hogan over Jumbo!!! Wow... the AWA is White Hot!!! Great event
  11. Very interested in why you chose an event in Moscow? Was there a relationship between the UWF and Russia or was this just for the fun of the game?
  12. Awesome SNME! I thought the Skyscrapers carrying the guardrail back with Paul E. still handcuffed to it was a great visual. You are doing an a great job of giving off a true WWF feel. For example, I think we all knew that Rude was going to beat Brutus but all the antics and showmanship before the match with the Barber getting a piece of Rude's hair to him coming back in the ring after his lose with the sheers is TRUE WWF. Nice work. Also, great planning and booking. SNME did a great job of moving the angles forward. Again, I always thought Andre and Demolition were going to win but then you add in Giant Gonzalez and we are already moving into the next big card. Great job. We have also seen Dusty and Funk a thousand times but your way of Funk with the mask + you add Savage and Rude to this. What an angle... great job. MNE vs The Rockers... Instant classic. Loved this format!
  13. Enjoying Bay Doll's new group. With Studd as the enforcer, they will be hard to beat. Also enjoyed the pomp and circumstance of the crowing of Landel. This would have been a fun segment back in 89. Nice job. I think Poffo is a great opponent for Too Cold Scorpio. This will be a fun feud. Looking forward to Bash at the Beach and the Starrcade Series.
  14. THE OMNI ATLANTA, GEORGIA JULY 24, 2024 Doug Gilbert vs “The Latin Heartthrob” Al Perez with Missy Hyatt Missy Hyatt took to the mic before the bout started and said how great it was to finally be with a man who was as Hot as she was. This was obviously done to stir up Doug Gilbert as Missy used to be with Eddie Gilbert, Doug’s brother. Both Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross did seem to agree that Missy and Al do make one good looking couple. As for the bout, you have to give Doug some credit here as he gave everything Al could handle including a Hot Shot Suplex… again, it seems this was done in honor of Eddie. Missy rushed the ring and made the save by placing The Latin Heartthrob’s leg over the bottom rope. Eventually, we see Missy do enough dirty tactics to allow Al to lock in the sleeper for the submission win! The problem came when Perez refused to release the hold. It was obvious that Gilbert was out of it, but Perez wanted to make a point! Schiavone and Ross really seemed frightened for the well-being of young Doug Gilbert when all of sudden the crowd exploded. It was “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert rushing to the ring. We have not seen him in WCW in months!! From behind… Gilbert leaps off the top rope with a flying elbow to the neck of Perez. Perez is stunned and rolls towards the ropes. Missy, who looks like she has seen a ghost, drags her new man out of the ring while Eddie is daring his to Perez to come back. Missy and Al actually scamper up the aisle as Eddie goes to the aid of his brother. Once Doug is on his feet, we see an embrace between the brothers and then they both raise each other’s hand and get a nice ovation from the crowd. “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly vs Scott “Flash” Norton Sometimes you are just a little too cocky. That is exactly what happened to Mr. Magnificent here at the Bash. He was so sure that he was going to easily defeat the rookie that he started toying with “the Flash.” No matter how inexperienced Scott Norton is, he is just too big and powerful to be taken lightly. In the end, Norton ducked under a big clothesline and came off the ropes with a big spear for the win. Kelly was so angry that he was shaking the ropes and screaming at anyone who would listen. Hercules Hernandez vs “The Hustler” Rip Rogers Hercules came to the ring first and continued to win the fans over with some high-fives and big smiles. This babyface version of Hercules was made easier when the Hustler came to the ring taunting everyone including Hercules. Rip got in his face and did some flexing and trying to show off just how in shape he was. Hercules just sort of laughed it off and gave a big flex of his own. It was obvious he was the stronger man and Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross wondered if Rip Rogers would ever learn. Aghhhh… After a dumb dare of a test of strength by the Hustler to Hercules, Rip was already screaming in pain. Rip now tried to play the stall tactics. but it was no help. Once Hercules got his hands on Rip, it was all but over. The end came rather quickly as The Hustler had no choice but to submit to the full nelson! Psycho Sid with Oliver Humperdink vs Dick Murdoch This match never got started! There was some screw up backstage as Psycho Sid seemed to come to the ring a little early. Hercules Hernandez was still mucking it up with the fans as Sid walked down to the ring. The two meet in the aisle. Humperdink seemed to order Hercules to step aside. Hercules didn’t like the way he was talked to and got in the face of Humperdink. Sid didn’t like the way Hercules was talking to Humperdink. A few shoves later and we are in a full-on brawl! Both men had to be pulled off of each other by about a dozen security guards only to break free a few times to allow the fight to continue. In the end, both Hercules and Sid took and gave some major blows. The ring announcer announced that for the safety of all involved, both Hercules and Sid have been ordered to leave the building and unfortunately for the fans and Dick Murdoch, his math vs Psycho Sid will be postponed. WINNER TO BE THE FIRST EVER WCW WOMEN’S CHAMPION Madusa Micelli vs “The Magnificent Mimi” A great showcase for the women ended in chaos as the Hustler, Rip Rogers rushed out to the ring and grabbed Madusa’s leg as she was lifting Mimi up for a suplex. This caused Mimi to fall on top of Madusa and with a grab of the tights and two feet across the bottom rope for added leverage, Mimi became the first ever WCW Women’s champion. Both Rip and Mimi leave arm in arm with the belt around Mimi’s waist! TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH Doom (Hacksaw Reed & Ron Simmons) with Teddy Long vs The Anti-American Coalition (Iron Sheik & Mr. Saito) Doom gets the win by count-out as Hacksaw Reed Military Pressed Slammed the Iron Sheik over the top rope and right on top of Mr. Saito who had just been body slammed on the concrete floor by Ron Simmons. The two heels struggled to reach their feet and neither was close to getting back in the ring before the 10-count. The fans hope that this is just the beginning of a long night for the AAC! MASK VS MASK The Patriot vs The Russian Assassin This match was a war! The Patriot, who is 6’5, 275 pounds was giving up almost 50 pounds to the Russian Assassin. The Assassin used this advantage to keep his man down for the majority of the match but then the crowd really got into it and urged the Patriot to rise up. Slowly at first, the Patriot started to shrug off the blows by the Assassin and then it was like a mosquito trying to take down a ragging bull as the Patriot just No Sold blow after blow. WHAM… Block of a right hand by the Patriot and now he is a like a house a fire… throwing blow after blow. With the Assassin down, The Patriot climbed to the top rope and comes off with a big shoulder block, a move Jim Ross dubbed the Patriot Missile. Next, the strong, well-built Patriot locks in a full nelson on the big man and slams him face first to the mat. Again, Jim Ross with the catchy naming of the move says that the Patriot might have just left the Russian Assassin unconscious with the Uncle Sam Slam. The Patriot covers The Russian Assassin and gets the three count! Now, the Patriot unties the mask and starts to pull it off but just as it come off, the Iron Sheik and Mr. Saito hit the ring and attack the Patriot with a few blows. The Iron Sheik quickly puts a towel over the face of the Russian Assassin and they usher him to the back. Tony Schiavone thinks that he has an idea of who the Russian Assassin was but he doesn’t want to announce it as he is unsure because the Sheik covered him up so fast. Jim Ross admits that he didn’t get a look at whoever it was but that he is not surprised that the Anti-American Coalition once again failed to honor the stipulations of the match. FOUR CORNER TORNADO MATCH FOR THE VACTED WCW WORLD TELEVISION TITLE “Mr. Perfect” Curt Henig w/ Gary Hart vs Jeff Jarrett w/ Miss. Tennessee vs Black Bart vs Brad Armstrong The rules for this match are simple… all 4 men in the ring at the same time and all 4 men are considered legal. All 4 men had a little time to shine in this match in this chaotic bout where everyone wanted to leave with the title! The end saw Mr. Perfect perfectly bide his time as he watched Black Bart come off the top rope for a double leg drop on Brad Armstrong. Black Bart was so sure he had the win that he took a little too long coming over for the pin. Curt Hennig attacked Black Bart from behind…. WHAM…. Perfect Plex on Black Bart. Hennig now looks like he has two choices on who to pin. Armstrong is still down and so is Black Bart… Hennig covers Armstrong as the ref gets ready to start the count… WHAM…. Jeff Jarrett with a death leap off the top rope on Black Bart…. 1…2….3! Tony Schiavone: And there you have it folks, Mr. Perfect is your knew WCW World Television Champion. Jim Ross: I’m not sure Tony. Jeff Jarrett seemed to be on top of Black Bart just as the ref was making the three count. We might have two winners in this bout? The ref goes over to the ring announcer…. Ring Announcer: Ladies and Gentlemen… referee Pee Wee Anderson has declared both Mr. Perfect and Jeff Jarrett as the winners of this match and therefore the WCW World Television Title cannot be awarded to anyone at this time. Jarrett and Hennig just look at each other. Hennig is in shock. while JJ just shrugs his shoulders at Hennig It seems these two are destined for a match in the near future. BOOT CAMP MATCH Sgt. Slaughter vs Colonel Debeers Ok… This one is very predictable. We see both men come out in their fatigues and use their attire as weapons. We get riding crop whips from Slaughter, walking stick beatings from Debeers, combat boot stomps by both but in the end, it was Slaughter using the helmet for a massive headbutt that gave him the advantage. With Debeers in trouble, Sgt. Locked in the cobra clutch for the knockout victory! STEEL CAGE MATCH Roddy Piper & “The King” Jerry Lawler vs The Hart Foundation (Owen Hart & Jim Neidhart) Brawl… Brawl… Brawl! In fact, the only legal moves of the night might have come from the Hart Foundation as Owen showed he is more than just a fighter. Each man had his time to shine in this wild melee. Piper using the cage to bloody Owen. Neidhard biting “The King” Owen with a face front suplex of the King into the steel cage. Lawler off the top of the cage with a fist drop on Owen. It was pure chaos…. Only to get even more crazy! Lawler went for the pin on Owen after the fist drop… WHAM… Neidhart with the shoulder block for the save. Piper is in and going after Neidhart. All 4 men are brawling in the center of the ring. WHAM… Piper tosses “The Anvil” face first into the cage and the crowd is going wild as the fan favorites are in complete control. Lawler has Owen up for the piledriver… WHAM… from behind, Roddy Piper has suckered “The King” and has taken his knees out from behind. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone have no idea what has gotten into Piper but Piper is all over Lawler. Eventually we get Piper and the Harts just pummeling Lawler. With the King out on his feet, Owen simply covers him for the three count and the victory. Unfortunately for Lawler, his trouble is just beginning. Owen exits the ring and goes under it where he pulls out a large chain which he wraps around the door and locks it up as he re-enters the ring. The 3-1 beating continues for what seems to be an eternity! Suddenly, the crowd erupts as Doom rush the ring. Hacksaw Butch Reed and Ron Simmons try playing with the lock but can’t get in. The beating on Lawler just continues. Doom have no choice but to climb over the cage to get into the ring! Finally, they are in and are able to chase the Hart Foundation and Piper away as they go to the aid of Lawler. Lawler is selling this beating very well as he needs help all the way to the back. Ross and Schiavone try to unpack all we have just seen from the Piper turn on Lawler and Doom coming to the aid of Lawler. Both can’t wait for the next TV show to see what the heck is going on here! WCW UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH “The Total Package” Lex Luger © with Woman vs “The Texas Tornado” Kerry VonErich This match was everything you could expect as the momentum kept swinging back and forth but in the end, Kerry was able to connect with multiple Discus Punches for the victory. WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH (Only WCW Title is on the line) WCW World Champions Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson with Woman vs WCW United States Champions: The Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin) This match was all about which team could pull off the last dirty trick and take home the World Title and in the end, it was the Horsemen who could not walk all the way down Bad Street and survive. After tossing Arn into the ring post, Michael Hayes climbed to the top rope where he helped Jimmy Garvin execute the nastiest Spike Brainbuster on Tully for the win. The Freebirds now hold both the U.S. Titles and the World Titles! They truly are the #1 tag team in WCW! It turned out that the Freebirds might just have been right when they said that tonight would mark the end of the Horsemen. Lex and now Tully and Arn have already lost their titles. WCW WORLD TITLE MATCH Ric Flair © with Woman vs Sting Sting starts quick and is all over Flair in this main event. Eventually, Flair pulls out the dirty tactics and is back on top. Sting can only take so much before he starts to No Sell the champ’s moves. Sting blocks one more big right hand from Flair before he roars back on top in this bout. He whips Flair into the ropes and up and over the champ goes. Flair knows he is in trouble and just starts to walk away up the ramp. Sting, seeing his title hopes disappear, goes after Flair. The two battle in the aisle as ref Pee Wee Anderson begins his 10-count! Sting drags Flair back to the ring and they both make it back in just before the count. Back and forth we go with each man connecting with some big plays. Eventually Sting, using the energy from the crowd takes over. WHAM… Stinger Splash! It looks like Sting is about to win the title! 1…2… Kick Out by Flair! Sting drags the champ to the center of the ring and locks in the Scorpion Death Lock! Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone can’t believe that in the matter of an hour, the Horsemen will all lose their titles! Flair is doing everything in his power to not give up, but he is in a real bad way! WHAM… “Oh No, it’s the devil himself” says Jim Ross as Arn Anderson comes flying in with a top rope knee drop to the back of Sting’s neck. Arn doesn’t seem at all interested in going after Sting. He simply wanted to cause the DQ and that is what he has done. Sting lunges at Arn but Arn is already heading back to the locker room. Sting turns again to Flair who is still down. Sting again locks in the Scorpion Death Lock and Flair is screaming that he submits but Pee Wee Anderson is just shaking his head “NO” to Sting and telling him the match is over. Sting slams Flair down to the canvass and then slumps himself across the top rope in total shock that he once again came so close to winning the world title! Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross debate is the Freebirds were right that the bond between the Horsemen is weakening. Tony says he doesn’t think so as Arn came out to make the save tonight but Jim leaves us with “but where were Lex and Tully.”
  15. Nice touch getting Zeus involved in a perfect role. Loved the little hair cut on Rude. Nice build up. Even in a quick promo, Dusty really delievered. Midnight Express vs Demolition- love the contrast in styles here. Fun show!!
  16. By reading this, I think you are really enjoying some of the new talent that has come into PCW. Bully seems to be on a roll as does "The Man of Means" along with Dr. Death and Gordy. The way that you run your promotion with all the factions, I think Deseret Storm is the perfect big event. Great booking. Was surprised to see the loser-leave town match between Cactus Jack and the Soul Taker. Ricky Steamboat is the perfect champion but there is so much talent out there in PCW, it will be interesting to see where you ultimately go next.
  17. Thanks for the videos.... It adds a lot to my understanding of your promotion. Really enjoying learning about the different wrestlers and styles in UWF. I was amazed at the stat by Lowblow about Karelin... 887-2. WOW! I still find myself rooting for people I know like Backlund and Shamrock and I can't wait to see your end game with the whole Backlund thing. Great work! So interesting and educational.
  18. Really enjoying Raw. You always keep changing things up which makes it so interesting for us but also probably helps you stay interested as well. The King of the Ring was very well done. I did think Savage left the ring as the champion after all the chaos. Well done! I am glad we are not seeing the pok-a-dot wearing American Dream. Great work with Rick Martel! To me, he was great at everything and could really do it all.
  19. Great work leading up to Wrestle Rock! Greg Rock is priceless! I found what you have done with Gagne is similar in real life to Larry Z but I seem to hate him even more then I did Larry Z. Awesome job!! I think Wrestle Rock was such a good idea by the AWA. The WWF tried it with Cindi Lauper and Captain Lou but it was just too gimmicky. The WAW did it perfect. I remember watching Larry Homes vs Randell Tex Cobb live regular tv one Friday night in like 1981 or 1982. Howard Cosell seemed real upset at the beating Tex took that night. For me, I just thought it was cool seeing a heavyweight title fight on TV. I don't think I saw any others when I was that age. I can't decide what match I am most looking forward too but I am really excited for: Larry Z- David Sammartino Nikita and Snake Hogan -Jumbo And lets not forget.... The big announcement by Greg Gagne!!
  20. Really enjoyed the Great American Bash. So many new champions which means many new and exciting angles coming up. Also, a few interesting run-ins like Baby Doll and the Jr. Heavyweight title match. Again, I love seeing angles develop and new additions to old stables is also very fun. I think Landel is the perfect NWA champion. He can do so much both in and out of the ring. Great Booking!!
  21. PREVIEW SHOW So what did happen in that WCW World Television Title Match at Clash of Champions? Last we saw, ref Pee Wee Anderson raised the hand of Sting and ref Tommy Young raised the hand of Curt Henig while Mr. Perfect Curt Henig simply walked off with the title. This week on tv, WCW President Jerry Jarrett called out both Sting and Curt Henig to explain what had happened. Jerry Jarrett: Okay, here is what had happened. Tommy Young was sent to the ring by me to officiate the remainder of the match because it appeared that Pee Wee Anderson would not be able to continue after accidently being hit and falling from the ring to the arena floor. Curt, you then connected with a Perfect Plex on Sting and covered him but Sting, you did kick out before the count of 3. This count may have been a little slow as Tommy Young had just gotten to the ring as Sting was being covered. Next is where the real chaos started. We saw Sting hit the belly to belly suplex and go for the pin where ref Pee Wee Anderson returned to the ring. Both refs now completed the count but had different winners. Since both refs were now acting as official refs, they both had a right to make that decision. Gary Hart: So, what you’re saying is that both refs cost my man, Mr. Perfect, the WCW World Television Title. First, Tommy Young for being too slow and out of shape to get to the ring after the Perfect Plex and Pee Wee Anderson for being too short to get in a proper position to see that Curt’s shoulders were never pinned for a count of three. Jerry Jarrett: Gary, that’s not fair and you know it. Both officials are the best in the business. This would never have occurred if Curt had not slammed into Pee Wee Anderson in the first place. Sting: So, I guess since we both were considered the winner, it’s like a draw and I get my title back. Jerry Jarrett: Not exactly Sting. The WCW Board of Directors has decided that this situation was so controversial that they have decided to vacate the title. Now Sting, Hennig and Gary Hart are fuming. Jerry Jarrett: Hold on just a minute fellas. I think we have come up with a solution that will work for all involved. The Great American Bash is right around the corner on July 24th at the Omni in Atlanta, Georgia. Sting, you are going to get a WCW World title shot at Ric Flair. Gary Hart: Hold on Jarrett. Sting loses to my man, and he gets a World Title Match and my man, the winner, gets nothing? Not sure this is going to work on our part. Jerry Jarrett: Just a minute Gary. Curt, at the Great American Bash, you are going to get another shot at the WCW World Television Title in a Four Corner Elimination Match with Jeff Jarrett… Gary Hart: Of course, your son gets a title shot. Jerry Jarrett: If you don’t like it, we can change this to a 3-Way match without your Curt Henig. Gary Hart: Go on. Tell me the other two men involved. Jerry Jarrett: The other two men are Black Bart and Brad Armstrong. All involved seem okay with the solution but Jerry Jarrett makes one more thing clear. He tells Henig that he must first, hand over the WCW World Television Title right now or be taken out of the match. Again, Henig reluctantly follows orders. The Great American Bash will see a rematch from Clash of Champions Jerry “The King” Lawler and Roddy Piper brawled with the Hart Foundation (Owen and Jim Neidhart) all over the Bay Center in Pensacola last week but nothing was settled as the match ended in a No-Contest. This week we get the information that these two teams will met again in the Omni … in a Steel Cage! All four men had some choice words for the others. Owen Hart: Last year Jerry Lawler, you came to Canada and tried to start a feud with my family. You tried to embarrass the Hart name. Well Lawler as you can see, you messed with the wrong family. When you attack one of us, you attack all of us. I can’t wait for the Great American Bash when I can press your face into the steel mesh. When I can feel your flesh ripping open. When I can see you bleed for what you tried to do last year. And Roddy Piper, if you are stupid enough to show up, you will also suffer the consequences. Jim Neidhart: They say that a steel cage match is one of the most dangerous matches in all of wrestling , but it can also be very unpredictable. I’m guessing the “Queen” Jerry Lawler will walk in and wearing a crown which he can legally use during the match. The skirt wearing Roddy Piper is going to come to the ring playing the bag pipes which he can legally try to break over Owen’s head. I could come out in full football gear and crack those two losers over their heads with my helmet… but guess what… The Hart Foundation doesn’t use any gimmicks. What you see is what you get. We are just two tough guys who want to break some bones. We are just two guys who want some family revenge. We are just two guys who are going to show Jerry Lawler that you messed with the wrong family and Roddy Piper …. you chose the wrong horse to back. Jerry Lawler: Owen Hart… Jim Neidhart… you two come down here from Canada ehhh…. And your looking for some revenge. Revenge for what you said I did to your family… Remember this all you Canadians… The United States is Daddy!!! What I did was try to put the whole country of Canada out of its misery. The Harts have been bothering people for generations. Owen… when you were born you were so ugly that they had to put tinted windows on your incubator. And Owen is one of the better-looking members of the Hart family. Jim Neidhart, the long lost inbreed cousin, is even worse. When he was born, his owner mother looked at his face and his rear end and said, “Oh look, Siamese Twins.” I can’t wait for the Great American Bash. It will once again be time to show these Canadians why they’re America’s ugly step child. Roddy Piper: One thing they say about Roddy Piper is that he knows how to be real cool. Whenever old Hot Rod comes into some place, he knows how to be cool. Not like some others. Some come into a place all loud ya know… making a big entrance. Making sure everyone knows their there. Just look at the Harts… Owen and The Anvil. They come here to WCW screaming and shouting… That just says their not cool! I’m cool. I know how to take my time if ya know what I mean. Me and Jerry Lawler are going to take our time at the Great American Bash. Take out time punishing the Harts. Take our time showing everyone who is boss. Take our time beating you from one corner of the cage to the next. Owen… time to call Papa Hart and let him know that he didn’t prepare you for life out of Canada…. EHHHHHH! The Anti-American Coalition Demands Action from Jerry Jarrett! Col. Debeers, along with Mr. Saito, the Russian Assassin and The Iron Sheik demanded that Jerry Jarrett take action and suspend Sgt. Slaughter for interfering in their match at Clash of Champions. Jerry Jarrett does come out but seems to put the AAC in their place right away by saying that it is Col. Debeers who should be suspended as he was the first to interfere in the match which caused the disqualification. Debeers goes right back at Jarrett by saying interference in wrestling happens all the time and that it is a minor infraction but Sgt. Slaughter does not even have a contract with WCW and what he did was a criminal act of assault. Jarrett kind of smirks as he pulls out Slaughters contract which is dated one day before Clash of Champions which makes Debeer’s argument null and void! Debeers is fuming and says that this was all a set up! Jarrett goes on to announce that he has some big matches for all the members of the AAC at the Great American Bash. First, it will be the Russian Assassin taking on the Patriot in a Mask vs Mask Match. (The Russian Assassin doesn’t seem as excited as you would have expected) Next, it will be Mr. Saito and The Iron Sheik vs Doom (Hacksaw Butch Reed and Ron Simmons). This time Saito and Sheik give a slight grin as they are ready to put this new team in their place. Finally, Jarrett announces the big one. It will be Col. Debeers vs Sgt. Slaughter in a Boot Camp Match. Debeers is fuming at Jarrett but then composes himself at gives a big time promo… Col. Debeers: It has been said that the only reason that Col. Debeers is successful in wrestling is that he hand picks his opponents. Is it my fault that America is such a sad country that they can’t keep things in order. I will not wrestle those from a culture that is beneath me. I also will not wrestle those who partake in criminal behavior by ingesting huge amounts of steroids to try and make themselves something they are not…. Athletes! Now Sargent Slaughter… you are just my type of opponent! An old, fat, washed-up waste of space. You come out in your army gear. You hit people with your helmet. You whip people with a riding crop. You kick people with your combat boots. You know why you do that?.... Because people in power tell you to. You talk about being in a life-long member of the army. You talk about your military prowess. Well then why…. Why Mr. Slaughter have you only risen to the rank of Sargeant. You see Slaughter… I am a Colonel! I tell people like you what to do because you are not smart enough to think for yourself and if you THINK at the Great American Bash that you are going to beat me in a Boot Camp Match, you got other thing coming. You see, it is Colonel’s who make the rules for what happens at Boot Camp and at the Bash, I will rule you! Later we here from the fan favorites on their upcoming match as the Bash Sgt. Slaughter: Col. Debeers you are nothing but a scum-suckin maggot. You walk around like you are better then others. You said you are better than me because you are a Colonel and I am a Sargeant. I ask you Maggot… what are you a Colonel of? A country that has never won anything in its history! At the Bash, you Maggot Debeers… you will continue that losing streak as I will beat you to within an inch of your life. The Patriot: People as me all the time, “why do you wear that mask.” My answer is simple. I wear this because I love my country. I love wearing the red, white and blue across my face. At the Clash of Champions, when the Russian Assassin tried to take this off my head, I felt like he was trying to give a punch to America. I would not let that happen and I will not let that happen at the Great American Bash. Some say that you are in a Mask vs Mask match at the Bash. I say that I am in a country vs country match ….. and we all know what country will rise to the top. Could this be the end of the Horsemen’s dominance? It was just a few weeks ago when Michael Hayes made an alliance with some top stars to put an end to the Horsemen. His wish might just come to fruition at the Great American Bash. We already heard that Ric Flair will have to put his world title on the line vs Sting. We also found out that Lex Luger will put his title on the line against “The Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich. It will also be champions vs champions as the WCW United States Tag Tean Champions, The Freebirds, challenge the WCW World Champions, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. While these matches are all big events on their own, the bickering between the Horsemen seemed to add to the drama. Tully Blanchard seemed frustrated at the result from the Clash of Champions where Arn, Lex and he lost to the Freebirds and Kerry Von Erich. He went so far as to blame Lex for the predicament that they are all in at the Great American Bash saying that if Lex did not get pinned by Kerry, Jerry Jarrett never would have made the matches at the Bash. Luger shot back saying that he isn’t to blame. He had Michael Hayes locked in the Torture Rack and that it was Tully who couldn’t hold his own as he was screaming like a baby as Von Erich had him locked in the Iron Claw. Arn steps in and tells Luger he better watch what he is saying as he has been a Horsemen for 10 minutes and just as easy as he was added to the group, he could be kicked out. Luger, surprisingly, tells Arn that if they want him gone just say the word as he is out but he reminds them that he was the winner of “the Crowning” and that he gets a World Title shot whenever he wants it. Luger goes on to let Flair know that he will cash in on that match the day anyone one kicks him out of the Horsemen. Ric Flair: Hold on, hold on fellas. We are the Horsemen. Don’t let what Michael Hayes says get in your heads. He says we are not unified. He says we don’t have each other’s backs. He says we are overrated. One shocking loss that nobody believe could happen should not pull us apart. We are the standard that ever other wrestler measures himself up against. We got the Rolex watches. We got the private jets. We got the limousine rides. We got all the girls…. And I mean all the girls…. WHOOOOOO! Now let’s take a minute. Refocus. Go to the Bash and show everyone that the Horsemen are still at the top of the mountain. Arn, Tully and Lex all seem to take a breath and understand that Ric is absolutely correct. Later in the show, The Freebirds, Sting and Kerry come to the podium. Michael Hayes: Hickory Dickory Dock! The sexiest man in wrestling works round the clock … and that man is right here right now… Michael P.S. Hayes! …. Ric Flair, you were out here talking about all the things you got… those are all our leftovers…. Especially the women!! I told you the Horsemen were done. I told you Ric Flair was the most selfish man in wrestling. Did you see him come out there at Clash of Champions to help the other Horsemen? I don’t think so. Ric Flair needs the Horsemen to survive. Sting: AHHHHHHHHHHHH, Ric Flair you’ve been playing mind games for years. You’ve been talking about being the man. You’ve been talking about your jet planes and your Rolex watches. What you have not been talking about is you’re plan to beat me at the Great American Bash. That’s because you don’t have a plan. You’ve always counted on others coming to your aid. At the Bash, you’re fellow Horsemen are all booked up. You are all alone. You got no help. You and I both know you can’t beat me. You’re time is up! Jimmy Garvin: I heard Jerry Jarrett say before it is champions vs champions at the bash. The Freebirds vs The Horsemen. The U.S. Champs vs the World Champs. Well Jerry Jarrett I think you misspoke. It is champions vs chumps. The Freebirds are the past, present and future of the tag team wrestling. Look at us and look at Arn and Tully. I mean Arn looks to have one foot in the grave and that’s because he is looking for Tully whose been dead for a long time. Team after team have thought they can beat the Freebirds and team after team have left with their tail between their legs. Kerry Von Erich: Ric…the Von Erichs have been chasing you for years but… you always find someone to escape. Give the Devil his due, Ric Flair you are champion for a reason…. The problem is that the reason has nothing to do with wrestling. You have run away from matches. You’ve used your friends to bail you out. You are the dirtiest player in the game as you say. The problem for you is that all criminals eventually get caught. Your time is up. Now Lex… you made a wrong choice when you joined the Horsemen. That’s not problem. At the Bash it will be the Torture Rack vs The Iron Claw. It will be two great athletes giving it their all. I just think I have a little more to give. Other Matches at the Great American Bash Doug Gilbert vs “The Latin Heartthrob” Al Perez with Missy Hyatt Psycho Sid with Oliver Humperdink vs Dick Murdoch Hercules Hernandez vs “The Hustler” Rip Rogers “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly vs Scott “Flash” Norton WCW Women’s Title Match: Madusa vs Magnificent Mimi
  22. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING EPISODE #36 Pensacola Bay Center June 14, 1989 All military personnel from Englin Air Force Base get in for free! Mr. Magnificent Kevin Kelly vs Sam Houston “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly defeats Sam Houston when he once again deceived the ref and used a small rope to nearly choke out Sam Houston before locking in the sleeper for the submission victory. This time it was Sam Houston’s partner, Kendall Windham who rushed in to make sure Kelly did nothing else to Houston. Jeff Jarrett with Miss Tenessess vs Al Perez with Missy Hyatt Finally, someone has put Missy Hyatt in her place and that someone was Miss. Tennessee. This match was pretty even but JJ was having trouble dealing with all the nonsense from Missy. At one point, she reached under the bottom rope and grabbed his leg leading to a momentum swing in favor of the Latin Heartthrob. At this point, Miss. Tennessee had enough and shoved Missy into the apron. The look of fear in Missy’s eyes was priceless as she took off in fear of the well-built women from the Volunteer State. Al Perez lost a little focus here as his rule breaking was halted as he watched the drama outside of the ring. WHAM… when Al turned, JJ was waiting with a very creative Reverse Russian Legsweep as Al’s face slammed off the canvas. Ref Pee Wee Anderon made the 3-count and raised the hand of JJ. The camera did catch a glimpse of Missy hiding behind one of the ring posts. Young Stallions (Paul Roma & Jim Powers) vs Long Riders (Black Bart & Ron Bass) This match saw both Ron Bass and Black Bart use every dirty trick in the book to control the entire match after they attacked before the opening bell. Well, the controlled every moment but the last as Paul Roma surprised Ron Bass with a diving cross-body block for the win. Bart and Bass were fuming and went straight for their bull whips as the Young Guns cut short their celebration and headed back to the locker with smiles on their faces before they felt the whip on their backs. Contract Match: Scott “Flash” Norton vs Ahmed Johnson Give these two some credit… at least they have their ring entrances down pat. Ahmed, just from his nasty look and viscous gestures to the crowd get him some serious heat. Johnson, along with Norton’s previous appearance at Miami Mayhem had the Flash getting the love from the crowd as we got under way. As for the match, it was an 8-minute robotic dance as it was obvious these two needed someone with more experience to lead the other through the bout. Even though this was a little clumsy to watch, the crowd was into it mainly because they knew that with the size of these two, the match was one big power move from someone getting a WCW contract. Make that two move. The Flash surprised Ahmed with a big body slam followed by a massive elbow drop to the chest. Norton covered Johnson and got the 3-count. Norton was ecstatic while Johnson was on all fours pounding the mat in frustration. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone hyped up Norton and also promised that Ahmed Johnson would someday make it big. Doom (Hacksaw Reed & Ron Simmons) with Teddy Long vs Grapplers When a new tag team is moving up the ranks, there is usually that one signature moment that you can look back on where they beat a top-notch team and everyone took notice at just how good they are. Doom hoped that the Grapplers would be that team. Doom has been riding the fans love lately as they have been involved in a big feud with the most hated stable in WCW, the Anti- American Coalition. Doom hoped that the fans energy would lead them to a huge win tonight. This was truly a war between four men who wanted to mix it up. In the end, we see Doom get a clean win over the Grapplers but what had people talking was how they did it. Doom, maybe to honor the greatest tag team of the era, The Road Warriors, or to point out that they are now on top, used the Road Warriors signature move, The Dooms Day Device on Grappler #2 for the win. Hercules Hernandez vs Cuban Assassin Jerry Jarett continued to make it easy for the fans to side with Hercules Hernandez as they put him in the ring with the Cuban Assassin who came to the ring waving the Cuban Flag and getting into the face of all the fans. Hercules came out draped in his chain and looked as powerful as ever. As the bell sounded. They two locked up collar and elbow and the Assassin tried to shove Hercules back. Hercules didn’t budge and then shoved back and the Assassin went flying. From here on out, Hercules just dominated the big Cuban and made him look like a featherweight. The end came by submission as Hercules nearly snapped the Cuban Assassin in half with his full nelson. Psycho Sid with Oliver Humperdink vs Steve Keirn Ever since the hockey mask came off, Psycho Sid has been on a wave of destruction that even surpasses his time as Lord Humongous. Tonight, it was poor Steve Keirn who paid the price. In a bout that barely lasted 5 minutes, Sid left Keirn laying in a crumpled heap after a devastating power bomb for the win. Sid, just for effect, connected with a second powerbomb as medics rushed to the ring to help Keirn. Sid and Humperdink left angry and wanting more. Tony Schiavone wondered if this monster could ever be stopped. Dick Murdoch, The Patriot and Brad Armstrong vs The Anti-American Coalition (Mr. Saito, The Russian Assassin and The Iron Sheik) with Col. Debeers acting as a manager In a brawl that started before the bell, ref Pee Wee Anderson had no chance to control this one. In fact, he didn’t even try. Once the bell sounded, we get a few minutes for everyone to shine before the momentum shifted fully in favor of the fan favorites. This was too much for Col. Debeers to stand and he simply entered the ring and went on the attack. Eventually, the 4 on 3 advantage was too much for the fan favorites and they were in trouble. The Anti-American Coalition could care less that the ref had disqualified them and that the bell was ringing over and over again for order to be restored. We see Dick Murdoch wearing a crimson mask and slumped into the corner. Brad Armstrong had been mangled by Saito and dropped across the steel girder. The Patriot was doing everything in his power to keep the Russian Assassin from taking his mask. “No, it can’t be” says Tony Schiavone. It can’t be! “It is, it is” replies Jim Ross. It’s Sgt. Slaughter and he is running to the ring in full gear. Slaughter slams his army helmet over the head of the Russian Assassin. He takes the riding crop and gives a dozen loud cracks to the back of Mr. Saito. Next up is a huge combat boot kick right to the private area of the Iron Sheik. Finally, Slaughter turns to Col. Debeers as the crowd goes wild. Debeers, calmly and carefully slithers between the middle rope out onto the floor. The fan favorites dare the AAC to come back to the ring but Debeers, tapping the side of his head in a show of intelligence slowly walks backwards up the ramp with the rest of his stable as the crowd pelts them with debris. Again, Schiavone and Ross hype up the fact that Slaughter is here and he is after the AAC! WCW World Television Title Match: Sting © vs Curt Henig with Gary Hart With Sting and Hennig in the ring, we knew this was going to be an instant classic. The problem is that we still don’t quite understand what the final outcome was. As for the match, Sting wasted no time and attacked Hennig before the match even started as he come flying across the ring with a Stinger Splash to start the match. Eventually, Gary Hart gets involved and the moment slides back over to Mr. Perfect who connected with a nasty neck breaker. The real chaos started as Sting whipped Henig into the ropes but ref Pee Wee Anderson was inadvertently nailed. Anderson flew through the ropes and out onto the floor. Sting tried to take advantage of the situation and rushed in for another Stinger Splash but Henig jumped out of the way. Suddenly, ref Tommy Young rushed to the ring to take over for the fallen Pee Wee Anderson. Henig grabs the stunned Sting and nails the Perfect-Plex. 1….2… Sting kicks out. Jim Ross really sells this Dusty finish as he claims that this might just be the first time anyone has kicked out of the Perfect-Plex. In shock, Henig stomps around the ring. This gave Sting just enough time to recover and as Henig moves back in Sting catches him with a belly to belly suplex. Ref Pee Wee Anderson is back. Sting covers Henig…. Ref Pee Wee Anderson and Ref Tommy Young simultaneously counts… 1….2….3.! What a match! Pee Wee Anderson covers over to Sting while Tommy Young goes to Curt Henig…. The ring announcer: “And the winner is” Pee Wee Anderson raises Sting’s arm but Tommy Young raises Curt’s hand! The two refs are confused and come together… Curt Henig simply grabs the title and walks out as he thinks he is the champ. Sting lunges at him but Henig is gone. The two refs continue to argue in the center of the ring… The ring announcer explains that the refs have a different view of how the match has ended and that everyone will need to turn into TBS this Saturday to here Jerry Jarrett’s decision. Semi-Main Event Jerry “The King “ Lawler” & “Rowdy” Roddy Piper vs The Hart Foundation (Owen & Neidhart) The Hart Foundation has tracked down The King and are seeking revenge for what they claim to be an attempt to ruin the family business (Stampede Wrestling) After they attacked him at the Mid-South Coliseum, Lawler sought out the services of Hot Rod. Lawler had recently helped Piper deal with Jake “The Snake” Roberts and Magnificent Muraco so Lawler know needed Piper’s help tonight. This match was a brawl from beginning to end. In fact, there was no beginning or end as the brawl started in the aisle and the official match never got started. While there was no official match, this No Contest might have been the highlight for the fans as it was wild fans as it was just crazy. No doubt this angle is far from finished! Main Event The Horsemen (Lex Luger, Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard) with Women vs Kerry VonErich & Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Jimmy Garvin This was a great Main Event! It might not have been as good a match as Sting-Henig or as wild as Lawler & Piper vs The Hart Foundation but with the names involved and the impact this match might have on the future of WCW, the fans were on the edge of their seats. Back and forth we went. Momentum change after momentum change gave everyone plenty of time to shine. In the end, we have all 6 men in the ring fighting it out. Luger and Kerry are the two legal men in the ring but they are fighting with other opponents. Kerry has the Iron Claw locked in on Tully and Lex has the Michael Hayes up in the Torture Rack. Kerry lets go of Tully who is writhing in pain. Hayes is screaming and flailing all aound. WHAM… Kerry with a Tornado Punch on Luger. As Luger goes down, the full weight of Hayes falls across the back of his head. The punch, plus the added weight of Hayes has Luger down. Kerry makes the cover. 1….2….3! Tony Schiavone: What a match and what a night of wrestling. Kerry VonErich has just pinned the United States Champion and might just be in line for a World Title shot! Jim Ross: A title shot against Ric Flair…. Who was not even in the building tonight. The Freebirds warned the Horsemen that Flair was only in this for himself and he might have just proven that tonight!
  23. Like I said in the WWF page, love what you and Lowblow did with the Rockers and the Express. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. To tell you the truth, Dibiase was the hardest piece for me to move in the more than 5 years we have been doing this. Glad you are enjoying him, Dr. Death and Terry Gordy.
  24. Trying to catch up here.... First, let me tell you that I loved your booking of Battlebowl! Landel could be champion material for you. I think he could do it all from his in the ring abilities to his mic skills. He was awesome. That being said, I think it was events like this that made me start to turn away from wrestling as it just seemed to be an attempt to entertain instead of two or four guys who hated each other trying to beat the crap out of each other. I mean I loved the days when the heels and babyfaces couldn't even travel in the same car together. Like Tommy Rich make a claim for the Heritage title. Georgia Championship Wrestling and Wildfire Tommy Rich was where I started liking this sport back in 79-80. Land of Opportunity Battle Royal--- Great Name!
  25. -Ok... here we go with a big catch up... Haku with 2 mystery partners. WOW... Demolition vs SWAT is coming. Andre over Kamala as expected by now he has to deal with the 8-foot monster. Interesting MAY 27: Primetme -Interesting to see that Funk will be the special enforcer for Savage vs Rude. - Giant Gonzalez is here! I wonder if he will be in that crazy outfit? - Million DOllar Tournament- Like the event. June 2nd: Nassau What an event... -Andre and Gonzalez face to face. -Chaos with Snake DDT on Rhodes and then Hacksaw attacked by Skyscrappers -and then the big win: Rude over Savage with help from the special enforcer Terry Funk. Wow... so who does Savage go after first? Superstars: June 3 Nice update on all the new angles and feuds and the continuation of some old ones. Can't wait to see how this Funk-Rude-Savage situation plays out. World title changes in the WWF at this time really started to happen often. Like 10 champs between 88-91. This gives you a lot of options. PrimeTime: June 10 Great Brother Love show. The Dangerous Alliance is a force. Love how you and Rain set up this tag team thing with the Rockers and the Midnight Express. Great segment with Jack Tunney. So many huge announcements. Here comes RAW!!! Enjoying the style of all these weekly shows as the matches are secondary and the promos and event centers are where all the big news comes from. The Superstars on June 17 gave us so much info that it was like a road map for the WWF all the way through the summer.
