To try and keep ths somewhat historically accurate, this card was relatively short for a big event with only 5 matches. U.S. Tag Team Title Match The Rock n Roll Express vs The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) with Dr. Diobolico Your typical good vs evil match to open the show here as the Rock n Roll Express have 100% of the crowd behind them. Interesting thing here is that these are four of the smaller stars currently in WCW and they might have put on the best match of the night. With all the bumping and selling that went on, the fans were on the edge of their seats with each momentum change. The Latin Connection used some really dirty tactics to even earn this title bout and it was no different tonight. Dr. Diobolico, still wearing an eye patch from the hair removal cream, made his presence felt from the opening bell as he never missed an opportunity to trip someone or get involved with a kick or a knee whenever the action spilled to the outside. In the end we get a normal RnR Express match with Ricky Morton playing the face in peril, where he takes the beating of his life only to make the hot tag to Robert and then we go bonzo-gonzo with all four men in the ring. Mando Guerrero, not the legal man in the ring, takes the first double drop kick and falls to the arena floor. Dr. Diobolico jumps up on the apron and ref Pee Wee Anderson goes to confront him. WHAM… another Double Drop kick- This time on Ricky Santana. Mando Guerrero is back in the ring and he is reaching into his tights. Out comes the Guerrero Hair Removal Cream as Mando closes in on Robert Gibson from behind. Lucky Robert sees this in time and kicks Mando in the gut. Mando is down and the cream goes flying. Ricky Morton sees this and scoops up the cream in anger. AHHHHGGG screams Robert Gibson as Ricky Santana connects with a lowblow. Morton is all over Mando and doesn’t know what has just happened. Santana covers Gibson…. 1…2…3! The Latin Connection, with a complete disrespect for any rules, have won the United States Title! Pee Wee Anderson is not sure what just happened but Robert is flailing around on the floor. WCW WORLD TELEVISION TITLE MATCH “Z-Man” Tom Zenk © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt Z-Man, with his shoulder bandaged from the recent attack by Eddie Gilbert, is poised for revenge and starts this match like a house a fire. Eddie Gilbert, who has too much experience, decides to be the annoying frightened heel where he pulls out every trick in the book. He exits the ring. He hides behind the ref. He calls for timeout. He begs for mercy! The Z-Man is so fired up that he doesn’t fall for any of this and is in complete control for the first segment of the match. Missy tries everything to help Eddie but even she can’t change the momentum. Now things get interesting as Hacksaw Butch Reed makes his way to the ring. Nobody is quite sure what will happen next. He is fuming with Gilbert for costing him two recent title shots against Zenk but instead of going after Hot Stuff, he just stands at ringside. This seems to unnerve everyone, including Zenk who has personally felt the pain that Reed’s power can cause. Gilbert uses this distraction to regroup and he catches Zenk coming in too quickly with an elbow to the jaw. Gilbert now uses this to get the advantage as he eventually connects with a Hot Shot as he drops Zenk headfirst across the top rope. A quick cover, a hold of the tights and legs on the bottom rope for added leverage leads to Gilbert getting the win as Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert is now the WCW World Television Champion and the face of the franchise as he describes it. As the ref hands the title to Gilbert, Hacksaw Butch Reed jumps up on the apron. Gilbert sees this and looks like he has seen a ghost. The camera closes in on Reed as we see him give the “throat slashing sign” as he points to Gilbert. Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone make sure everyone knows that Eddie Gilbert is now the hunted WCW TV Champion and he is being hunted by one of the most dangerous men in wrestling. BUNKHOUSE MATCH (COME AS YOU WANT) “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Ron Simmons vs Jimmy Jack Funk & Black Bart Now this is one the fans are excited for. Jimmy Jack has antagonized their precious Dusty Rhodes so much in recent weeks they want blood. Throw in Bunkhouse rules, Dusty coming to the ring with big cowboy boots on a what looks like a cowbell, Jimmy Jack with a branding iron and Black Bart with a bull whip. Ron Simmons looks a little out of place as he comes to the ring in his regular tights but when you see his physique, you realize his body is his bunkhouse rules weapon of choice. Give Ted Turner some credit as he must have told the boys to go easy on the cutting to not turn off the new TV fan, as their was minimal blood in this one. We do have Dusty showing a little color but not what you would expect. As for the match, the momentum was 70-30 in favor of Dusty and Simmons. The end finally came a bionic elbow from Dusty to Jimmy Jack which followed up about 10 stiff right hands to the face of Funk and then a huge Cow Bell Shot. Jimmy Jack was basically out on his feet and Dusty got exactly what he wanted to as he put a beating on a member of the Funk family. Dusty and Simmons celebrated for a few minutes as they were really interacting with the crowd. Just as ref Pee Wee Anderson raises the hands of Rhodes and Simmons… WHAM… From behind, both a wobbly Jimmy Jack and Black Bart attack Ron Simmons…. Dusty turns to see what is going on… WHAM….You won’t believe this…. With the Branding Iron… Terry Funk is here and is attacking The American Dream. Fans are screaming… Woman and Children are crying…. The beating goes on and on! Funk is like a man possessed. Finally, when Terry and only when Terry is done, do the Funks and Black Bart leave the ring, Dusty and Simmons are given some time to recoup but they still need help to get to the locker room as Dick Murdoch, The Rock n Roll Express and Tom Zenk all come to their aide. When Dusty said that he would not accept a Funk in WCW, nobody thought that would bring Terry! It looks like it is round 100 of the greatest wrestling feud of our time. WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH If the Champs win, they each get 5 minutes alone with Gary Hart Dr. Death & Ted DIbase © vs Abdullah the Butcher & Tarzan Goto with Gary Hart For both Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone, the most interesting thing about this match was how calm Gary Hart was throughout the match. They both admitted that they would be shaking in their boots knowing that they could, at any minute, be facing both Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase inside the ring if their team lost. As for the bout, it was just as expected…. A War! One big blow after another. Whether it was a punch, kick, elbow, suplex, fork, loaded black glove by Dibiase… the rule book was pretty much thrown out for this match. After we go about 15 wild and chaotic minutes, Dr. Death connects with the Oklahoma Stampede on Tarzan Goto for the win! The champs barely celebrate as they want Gary Hart in the ring right away. The ring announcer lets everyone know that before Hart will begin his portion of the match, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto must exited the ring and go to the locker room. Gart Hart goes to his men and seems to whisper into their ears because neither Goto and Abbie seemed to comprehend anything the ring announcer just said. Hart eventually points to the back and Goto and Abbie head for the runway and behind the curtain. Gary Hart starts to head for the ring as the champs decide it will be Dibiase to get the first 5 minutes. As the ring announcer calls for the bell, Hart retreats to the corner as Dibiase just smirks at him! Next thing you know, Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone are yelling for Dibiase to Watch Out! From behind… two huge Samoans…. Many WCW fans had no idea who they were, but Schiavone announces them as the Samoan Swat Team from the WWF… The brawl is on! Maybe the champs were worn out or the Samoans were that tough, but the cannibal-looking duo roughed up the champs pretty good for the next 10 minutes. When the 10 minutes were up… Gary Hart grabbed the house microphone and announced to everyone that it wasn’t so tough lasting 10 minutes against Dibiase and Dr. Death and that they better worry about lasting another week in professional wrestling! With the champs pretty battered, Hart called off the dogs and he and his “new team” left ringside. MAIN EVENT “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson vs “The Total Package” Lex Luger & Sting The excitement…. The trash talking … the figure pointing! This match pitted four of the best in the business who each had some major resentment for the others! As for the match, you have to give it to Flair and Arn who bumped and sold really well to help put the babyfaces over. In the end, we see a botched interference by Dan Spivey which allowed for Sting to connect with the Stinger Splash on Arn for the win! Tune in next week to hear Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Roddy Piper try to explain exactly what went on here tonight! The next Clash of Champions, Season’s Beatings, will be in Baton Rouge at the Riverside Centroplex on December 7th right here on Superstation 17!

We usually do it the week of Thanksgiving.

Very exciting week on Superstars. Loved the "power of the pain" comment. It seems like your U.S. tag team tourny has some huge names in the finals. Marty on the bottom rope above was a cool shot with your figures as is the set for the Brother Love Show
-
I'm with AD on this one. Keep it all in your head. That way when I mess up, I have an excuse. I do admit tough that if I went back to read my shows from a few years ago, it would be like seeing the stuff for the first time.
-
The shorter version works just fine as it keeps us up to date on everything needed. Really enjoy the Starrcade Series! Garvin vs Kamala is going to be huge!!!
-
Awesome work with Brawls in St. Paul. I really struggle to write up actual matches and just give the finish. You did a great job giving so many details. Some highlights for me included -Vin Man getting tossed around at the end -DJ giving a nod of respect to Kelly after the war! -The arrival of Gordy. The Freebirds vs The VonErichs was always one of my favorites with Gordy and Kerry being the main-eventers, Now this is going to be a War! I think the fans being surprised at the Killer Bees was cool. Since they are pretty big names to us, I forgot what a mask would do for an angle. Nice job here. Zbysko-Jarrett was my favorite bout. Your opening segment here with Larry Z taking the mic made everyone hate him even more. I hope we get more of this again. Nikita vs Atlas with Nikita as the babyface and Atlas as the heel was classic! I think you did a great job of getting the fans into Night II very early. With all Dream has done in the AWA, seeing him laid out would get the fans hooting from the get-go. Great match between the Glamour Boys and the Fantastics. I think you really nailed the finish. The Fantastics are the big team here and needed a win. The handshake keeps the fans interested in the Glamour Boys. Iceman with the TV belt.... I can see the dancing now. I enjoyed the war between Crippler and Blackwell. Crippler remains strong in my opinion as it takes some kind of man to survive a powerslam from Crusher. WOW.... Canek with a reverse fireball on Sheik. What an image this paints. Nice job keeping the angles fresh as the Rich-Rose situation seems ready to explode! Heel Sgt. Slaughter is my favorite. This is going to be fun. Kerry leaves War Games as a big star.... Kerry vs Gordy... I am all in. What a great job you did.

PREVIEW SHOW U.S. Tag Team Title Match The Rock n Roll Express vs The Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero & Ricky Santana) with Dr. Diobolico This match will be the first of three title matches here at Clash of Champions as WCW has decided that it was time to bring back a second tag team title. Many speculate that this was part of the deal with the Rock n Roll Express returning to the promotion as they were anointed one of the teams to be involved in this match from the get-go. As for who the Express would face, that took some time to figure out. The Latin Connection, The Nightmares, The Young Guns and the Lightening Express battled for this spot with the Latin Connection getting the nod after some shenanigans. WCW WORLD TELEVISION TITLE MATCH “Z-Man” Tom Zenk © vs “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert with Missy Hyatt Tom Zenk has nothing but an honorable WCW World Television Champion but that can not be said of his opponent “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. “The Hustler” Rip Rogers and Gilbert both wanted this title match and they both resorted to some real questionable tactics in an attempt to earn it. It turned out that Gilbert was just a little dirtier than Rogers. First, he and Missy created a fake broken leg for Missy that allowed him to go out and get hired gun Bull Nakano for the 3-Team Intergender Match against Zenk, Medusa, Rogers and Terri Powers which finally ended with Gilbert pinning Zenk after Missy hit the champ with the crutches. After getting the tainted pin over Zenk, WCW decided that Gilbert should get the TV Title match at Fall Brawl but it was yet to be determined who the champion would be as Zenk had a tough match coming up with Hacksaw Butch Reed. Gilbert was petrified at the thought of facing Reed for the title, so he interfered in the Zenk-Reed title match causing Reed to be DQ’D. Zenk, being the honorable champion that he is, gave Reed a rematch a few weeks later. This time, Gilbert, with the help of Missy, attacked Zenk before the match. This not only made sure that Hot Stuff would face Zenk at Fall Brawl but also forced the champion to come into the bout at less than 100%. BUNKHOUSE MATCH (COME AS YOU WANT) “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes & Ron Simmons vs Jimmy Jack Funk & Black Bart There is not a lot to say here. This all started when Jimmy Jack attacked Ron Simmons during his match with Black Bart. Dusty saw a Funk in WCW and went nuts. A Funk saw Dusty and needed to try and hurt him. (With a branding Iron of course) Black Bart and Ron Simmons are along for the ride. Bart seems to be in his element in the Bunkhouse Match and you can bet on him coming to the ring with his bull rope! Newcomer Ron Simmons is the wildcard here. He definitely has the size and power but he has not fought in to many grudge matches in his young career. Not sure what is going to happen here but you can expect it to be wild. WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH If the Champs win, they each get 5 minutes alone with Gary Hart Dr. Death & Ted DIbase © vs Abdullah the Butcher & Tarzan Goto with Gary Hart Gary Hart appeared in WCW shortly after Dibiase and Dr. Death. He made it very clear that he was here to collect a 2-million-dollar bounty placed on the careers of Dr. Death and Dibiase by Sheik Adnan Al Kassie. Dr. Death and Dibiase conned Sheik out of the money and then abruptly left Mid-South with his money. Sheik was not granted a wrestling license in WCW but Hart was and the Hart made a deal with the devil to come get the champs. Gary Hart found to monsters, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto to do all the heavy lifting for him but, as you would expect, the champs did not flinch and have met Abbie and Goto at every turn. In fact, they have put out their own two million dollar bounty on Gary Hart. They figured why not put the Sheik’s money to good use by taking out their biggest enemy. Both sides are extremely confident that they will collect at Fall Brawl. So much so that Gary Hart was willing to put himself in the ring against each of the champs if his team came up short. Not sure what is going to happen, but this is must-see-tv. MAIN EVENT “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair & “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson vs “The Total Package” Lex Luger & Sting This all started when Flair and Anderson wooed Lex Luger and wanted him to be the next Horsemen. Luger, spurned by Woman in the past, turned them down and sided with Sting, Dusty and the fans. This, along with Sting, attacking the Horsemen at every turn has Flair and Arn fuming. So much so that they attacked Sting in the locker room during a Lex Luger match. Again, expect the unexpected here with the 4 biggest names in WCW at the current time.

I think it is awesome that we all have a different way of formatting our shows. Your use of the figures is really cool and is a great way for us to get that real in ring feeling of what is going on. Your 20 -Man Battle Royal was so well done as we see the number of wrestlers dwindling throughout the match! How long does this take to do?
-
Really good week for Music City where the highlight continues to be Miss Kentucky-Dark Journey! I thought the quote of the week was "Moonpup." I also like the small little wording of a fast count that made me wonder if this would be the perfect place for a corrupt ref angle... we will see. Also like the debate over who the #1 contenders are for the tag title!
-
Music City is on a roll here. Really enjoying the title angle. Only in the world of wrestling could someone like Bruno get Miss. Kentucky! Still rooting for my favorite Memphis heel... Lets go Assassin!

EPISODE #9 OCTOBER 6, 1988 The show starts with a video from a house show in El Paso where we see Dr. Death, Ted Dibiase and Terry Gordy getting some revenge on the Latin Connection (Mando Guerrero, Ricky Santana and Dr. Diobolico) for them helping Gary Hart a few weeks back. We see the fan favorites tossing the Latin Connection from pillar to post but don’t see the end. Now we get the normal intro to World Championship wrestling! Tony Schiavone: Hello everybody. Welcome back to World Championship Wrestling. Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Roddy Piper with you. Jim, we are just over a week away from Clash of Champions as Fall Brawl will be coming to you live from The Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg right here on the Superstation on October 17th. Jim Ross: That’s right Tony and what a night it will be as we have 5 huge matches for you including 3 title bouts. It will be “Z-Man” Tom Zenk putting his WCW World Television Title on the line against “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert. The WCW World Tag Team Title will be on the line as Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase defend against Gary Hart’s Monsters, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto. There is more than titles on the line in this one. If the champs are successful, they will both get five minutes alone with Gary Hart. We will also see Dusty Rhodes go face to face with a member of the Funk family as Dusty and Ron Simmons face off against Jimmy Jack Funk and Black Bart in a Bunkhouse Stampede match! That one is going to be wild! And in the main event it will be Sting and “The Total Package” Lex Luger vs “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson and “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Also, one more title match as the vacated WCW U.S. Tag Team Title will be filled. We know one of those teams will be the Rock n Roll Express and later tonight we will find out who their opponents will be as The Latin Connection, The Nightmares, The Lightening Express and the Young Guns face off in a Four Tag Team Elimination match. Roddy Piper: Well, Ya see… even old Hot Rod is excited for that event. It’s like the circus, Halloween, a rock concert and the rodeo all rolled into one. You got the fat man in Dusty Rhodes, the strongman in Lex Luger, the freak in Abdullah, the main with the face paint in Sting, and let’s not forget the women with the largest brea…. Tony Schiavone: Okay, okay, Roddy. That’s enough. Let’s get to the ring for our first match. MATCH #1 The Rock n Roll Express defeat defeat Brad Holliday & Lee Ramsey with the double drop kick on Holiday. A quick-post match interview shows how excited the Rock n Roll Express are for Fall Brawl and their shot at the vacated WCW United Stated Tag Team Titles. COMMERCIAL BREAK When we come out of break, we see the Latin Connection, including Dr. Diobolico, still wearing his eye patch from the cream that was accidently put in his eye by Mando, with Roddy Piper. Roddy Pipper: Hola amigas. First of all, you must be very grateful to be involved in the U.S. Tag Team Title match but there are rumors that if you win the title, you will be the first Mexicans to cross the border back onto Mexico. Mando Guerrero: Again, Piper… No respect for the greatest wrestling family in history. The Guerreros have done it all and this U.S. Tag Title would just be another feather in our cap. Roddy Piper: I think you mean sombrero. And I have noticed that you have none of your family hair cream with you. Is that because the pirate here next to us is having flashbacks? Mando Guerrero: Again… no respect. The Guerrero Hair Removal is world famous. It just happens to be that we can’t keep up with demands and are currently sold out. Roddy Piper: That’s too bad Mr. Tequito. Your hair is looking a little shaggy. By the way, ya know you and the rest of your gang here looked to be in over your head in that opening video as Dibiase, Dr. Death and Gordy were, as they say down here in the South, “stomping a mud hole in ya.” Hey, I guess old hot Rod here is now tri-lingual. I can speak English, Spanish and Redneck. Ricky Santana: So Piper, you think we’re not tough enough. I promise you that the Guerreros are the toughest wrestlers I have ever been around. They don’t care if the fans clap and sing for them. They’ve been jumping all over people for a long time. They don’t care at all what happens to their opponents and Mando has taught me all he knows, and we are walking out of Fall Brawl as the U.S. Champs. Roddy Piper: Ahh yes, jumping on your opponents…. You three should change your name from the Latin Connection to the Mexican Jumping Beans…. Good luck to you all at Fall Brawl. Mando Guerrero: Piper… next time you see us, we will have belts around our waist. Roddy Piper: And people think I am strange wearing a kilt… These three are only going to wear belts. Mando and Ricky are fuming and walk off shouting at each other in Spanish. Roddy Piper: Man… I still need more practice with my Spanish. MATCH #2 Dusty Rhodes defeats Keith Steiborn with the Elbow Drop Dusty Rhodes is with Roddy Piper for a post-match interview. Roddy Piper: Dusty… may I call you Dusty… I can’t help but notice all the pretty ladies here in WCW. Whether it is some of the valets or even those in the audience at all the shows I’ve been attending. I’ve also noticed some real ugly ones to. In fact, there is one that keeps showing up at your matches. I bet you’ve noticed her… she is the real fat one in the top row. Now… Old Hot Rod wonders a lot about love… They say you should always find someone you have a lot in common with. Another thing that Old Hot Rod has noticed is that you always seem to be alone. You come to the arena alone. You leave alone. I mean it’s kind of a sad life you live. So, I had a great idea… the fat lady in the back row and the fat man in the ring might just be made for each other. Dusty Rhodes: Piper… I don’t like you and when the American Dream don’t like you, you got a problem but that is a problem for another day ya see. Dusty Rhodes… the Bull in the Woods… is focused right now on Jimmy Jack Funk. Funk… just ask old Terry about me. You’re about to find out how bad a man I am and how bad a man I can be. The time for talking has stopped. It’s time we get in the ring. At Fall Brawl Ron Simmons and the Dream are going to “Just Do It” all over you Jimmy Jack Funk. Oh, and I didn’t forget about Black Bart…. It’s a Bunkhouse Match… Come as you want and I’m a coming with my cowboy boots and spurs. And Piper, when I’m done with Jimmy Jack, you can come on down and jump on that Fat Lady all night long because when I’m done in the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, I promise you all the pretty ladies will be partying with me down at Pelican’s Pub down on 2nd Steet. COMMERCIAL BREAK When we come out of break, Sting is with Roddy Piper who gives a quick joke about his colorful face paint by Sting ignores him. Sting: 11 days…. 11 days Arn Anderson. That is all you got left to run and hide. You talk about how it was you and you alone who jumped me in the locker room, but we all know that isn’t true. We all know that it took all 4 Horsemen to keep me down. Arn… I understand why you want the credit. I mean you have been riding the coattails of someone else since you entered this business. First it was Uncle OIe. I mean everyone knew who the best Anderson was. Then it was Tully Blanchard. I mean since you two stopped teaming together, all he has done is win title after title while you flounder around the wrestling ring. Now it is Ric Flair who carries you… Now in St. Pete, it will be Lex and myself against you and Flair. We both know that Flair isn’t going to do anything as he wants to make sure he is safe to defend that World Title of his … So that puts it on you… Arn… it’s time to Put Up or Shut Up! I think you should just shut up! AAAAHHHHHHHHH MATCH #3 Sting defeats Tom Downing with the Stinger Splash After the match, Gary Hart comes out and Piper basically hands the interview over to him. It seems like Gary Hart is the one man that Piper respects in the business. Hart goes on to hype up the Bounty vs Bounty Match for the WCW World Tag Team Titles where his Monsters, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto take on Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death. He also tells Piper that he is not the least bit nervous of having to face Dibiase and Dr. Death alone if his men lose the match as there is no chance of that. The next part of the interview is interesting as, to the dismay of Piper, Gary Hart calls out the Latin Connection where he gives Mando a large envelope of cash. When Piper asks what this is about, Mando reminds Piper that the Guerreros will do anything for money. Gary Hart also doesn’t give any more details about the transaction. As we head to break, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross are wondering if this is payoff for what went down a few weeks ago or if this is something new. They agree that they may never find out. COMMERCIAL BREAK When we come out of break, Sir Oliver Humperdink is standing alone in what seems to be a very basic room made of cinder blocks carrying a sledge hammer. Lord Humongous is standing next to him wearing his hockey mask. Humperdink is screaming about how his man can’t be stopped. WHAM… Suddenly Humperdink nails his own man 2,3,4,5 times with the sledgehammer. Lord Humongous just stands there like he was an elephant being hit by a mosquito. Oliver Humperdink: Wrestling fans… Be afraid. Be very afraid. Lord Humongous is coming to WCW and he is coming Soon! Before going to the ring, Tony and Jim are in shock at the size and appearance of Humperdink’s new man while Piper wants to know why everyone here in WCW needs to show off the Halloween costumes so early. Match #4 United States Title Match Dan Spivey with Woman defeats Sweet Brown Sugar with a massive clothesline. Spivey, Women, Arn and Ric Flair all join Piper for the post-match interview. Roddy Piper: Well ya know… I must say that Roddy Piper is having some doubts. Last time I was here with all you horse people, you swore up and down that the only one involved in the attack on Sting was Arn… then we get the video footage from outside the locker room ya see … first we see Flair and Woman come out of the locker room… now I bet you… Woman …. You’ve spent a lot of time in men’s locker rooms but this just seems too suspicious…. Then we get you Mr. U.S. champ coming out… All seems like a little co-inky-dink if you ask me. Ric Flair: Well ya know Piper… We aren’t asking you. The Horsemen are in the business of telling people. So, what do we really have here now? To me we got nothing but a normal day in the life of the Horsemen. We got jet airplanes… we got first class seats… we got beautiful stewardesses waiting on us hand and foot if you know what I mean. And that’s all because we are the Horsemen. I’m the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Dangerous Dan here is the U.S. Champion… and Arn is the unstoppable Enforcer. People like Sting are jealous. People like Luger are jealous. We got more cars than anyone around. We got more mansions than anyone around. Baseball has Dale Murphy. Football has Herschel Walker. Basketball has Magic Johnson and all of them rolled up into one doesn’t equal a Horseman. Now at Fall Brawl, Arn and myself will prove to everyone why we are the top of the mountain and they are the bottom of the barrel. Roddy Piper: Natch… Natch… so well spoken. I really got your message. For those of you in TV land who just aren’t as smart as Old Hot Rod, let me break it down for you. What Ric Flair just said was that Arn Anderson is the only Horsemen without a Title. Thanks for making that clear Natch! Arn Anderson: Shut up Piper before I make you forget how to talk. Roddy Piper: Oh ya.. okay… You win. I am sorry Mr. Enforcer. Please don’t hurt me now. Tony Sciavone: Alright let’s take a break. Everybody just calm down. COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next bout, the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death come out to Jim Ross and point out that the end to Gary Hart is near. They ask Jim how he is going to survive one on one against Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase after they beat Abdullah and Tarzan Goto at Fall Brawl. This question has Jim Ross wondering the same thing and he believes that Gary Hart just might get what is coming to him. MATCH #5 Rip Rogers with Terri Powers defeats Trent Knight with the Ripperplex The interesting thing here was that Jimmy Valiant was sitting front row with the crowd and when Rip had Knight up on the top rope for the superplex, Jimmy came out of the stands and snuck up behind Terri and planted a big kiss right on her lips. Valiant danced away to the locker room as Terri was gagging on the arena floor. When Rogers asked her what happened and she motioned to the back, you could just see the anger on Roger’s face. COMMERCIAL BREAK Before our next match, The Z-Man, Tom Zenk comes to Roddy Piper and explains that he went to WCW President Jim Herd and asked that Hacksaw Butch Reed be given a rematch for the TV Title as it was not his fault that Eddie Gilbert interfered in the match last time and probable cost Hacksaw the title. Piper wondered if Z-Man stood for a man with zero intelligence as he is lucky he survived his match against Butch Reed never mind leaving with his title. MATCH #5 WCW WORLD TV TITLE “Z-Man” Tom Zenk © vs Hacksaw Butch Reed With Hacksaw waiting in the ring during Zenk’s pre-match interview, Zenk heads to the ring for the rematch. Suddenly Missy Hyatt appears and seems to be pleading with Zenk not to go to the ring. Zenk tries to sidestep her but… WHAM…. Eddie Gilbert from behind the TV monitor, nails Zenk with a brick across the shoulder area. Gilbert clobbers him over and over with the brick in the arm, shoulder and neck area. Zenk is screaming in pain. Here comes Hacksaw Butch Reed but Missy and Eddie hightail it away in the nick of time. Hacksaw Reed is fuming at once again being cost a title shot but Eddie Gilbert. Reed looks down at Zenk and isn’t sure what to do. He has been on the wrong side of good for a while and it is like you can see the wheels turning in his head. He comes to a decision as he bends down to help Zenk but before this act is complete. Snowman and Kareem Muhammed come out and you can here them tell Reed to hurry up as they wanted to find Gilbert. The Nation of Domination head off in search of Gilbert while Tony Schiavone calls for medical attention for Zenk. COMMERCIAL BREAK When we come out of break, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross are upset and wonder when enough is enough from Eddie Gilbert. They also debate how large the fine should be for interfering in not one but two WCW World TV Title Matches. Jim Ross is sure that no amount is enough. Tony Schiavone tells fans that during the break, they reviewed the incident, and it was clearly premediated. The show a replay of Eddie Gilbert pushing a TV monitor out of the way to get the brick that he obviously stored there before the attack. Tony and Jim are just shaking their heads is disgust as they send us to our main event. MAIN EVENT TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH WINNER EARNS A U.S. TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH AT FALL BRAWL AGAINST THE ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS The Young Guns (Houston & Windham) Vs The Latin Connection (Guerrero & Santana) with Dr. Diobolico Vs The Lightening Express (Armstrong & Horner) Vs The Nightmares The match is wild, chaotic and each team gets some time to shine in this long match by TV standards. Once the eliminations start coming they come quickly. First, we see the Nightmares, who decided to skip the face paint tonight and go for the masks, use double loaded masks to headbutt Sam Houston as the Young Guns are the first to be eliminated. Almost immediately, we see Brad Armstrong come in and knock the two Nightmare’s heads together…. Metal on Metal and they are both out for an easy pin by Brad. Now we get the Lightening Express vs The Latin Connection. In the end, we see Mando, who somehow found the last bottle of Guerrero Hair Removal Cream, pull the bottle from his trunks and go for the eyes of Tim Horner. Thank goodness for ref Pee Wee Anderson who grabbed the bottle. This led to words between Anderson and Guerrero. Unfortunately, this gave Dr. Diobolico time to come up on the apron and hit Horner with some illegal object of his own. This led to the easy pin as Armstrong went after Diobolico instead of making the save. Tony Schiavone: Folks, what a wild night that was. While the method was obviously questionable, it will be the Latin Connection vs The Rock n Roll Express for the WCW U.S. Tag Team Title at Fall Brawl. Also, we will hope to have an update on the health status of Tom Zenk for you next week. Remember you can watch all the action of Fall Brawl right here on the Superstation on October 17th. For Jim Ross and Roddy Piper, I’m Tony Schiavone, we’ll see you next week right here on World Championship Wrestling. Other Wrestlers getting wins on today’s TV show: Medusa Micelli, The Lightening Express, Big Money Marcus, Jimmy Valiant, Dick Murdoch, Jimmy Jack Funk

I really like the rise of Billy Jack! I always remember reading stories of the Pacific Northwest and he was usually the headline. I know historically, we are heading way past the territory days but that was my favorite time and just really like things that remind me of those.

I continue to learn each week from reading your shows. I think Mark Fleming in the UWF is a perfect fit. I know very little of him whether in wrestling of in the UWF version of the sport but have always heard what a great technical wrestler he was. You putting him over Shamrock might have just proved that. Thanks for all your hard work to get me up to speed on this type of show.

Awesome week for the WWF. I never was able to understand why growing up in NY, I always loved Southern Wrestling more that the WWF but your explanation of the comedy match hit the nail on the head and I never realized it. I just was never into that type of match and the WWF always seemed to go over the top with some of their ideas like the Hillbillies and Donk the Clown. Maybe I am just forgetting some of the nonsense that Georgia put out there but I just remember there being more realistic feuds and angles. Anyway... loved the whole week. Very WWF! You really showed your pecking order in the card at the Garden. I forgot how quickly it went south for the Sheik but your 3 minute defeat to Warrior reminded me of that. I forget the year, might have been 89 or 90 but WCW actually paid him for a whole year not to wrestle. Also this match proved that the Warrior is moving up quickly. Huge win for the Rockers! Also, perfect WWF booking to have Hogan defeat Studd on a big card while we all wait for Hogan-Savage. I really enjoyed this show as it was classic WWF.

Great show leading into the Brawls at St. Paul. The highlight for me was Nelson. He is one of those announcers that I always remember being more famous for his facial expressions than his words and you really brought back some memories of those ESPN shows. I loved when you had him afraid during the interview for War Games with the sword. I also liked his interaction with Larry Z along with his eye roll at being sent off by Brenda B. While I also like so many of the matches in St. Pauls, I must admit that I am most interested in Larry Z vs JJ! Can't wait. Great show.
-
Can't wait to see who, if anyone, can stop Kamala.
-
Wow... Garvin vs Wahoo on tv! I love the Starrcade Series matches. They have added importance and on free tv! awesome
-
You always do such a great job of figuring out your pecking order for your promotions. I am really interested to see if Hogan stays on top with people like Savage, Warriors and Bad News breathing down his throat.

Atlas-Nikita! This one is so hard to call. I am guessing it might even depend on who you have next to challenge for the AWA title! If you got a rising babyface coming up next, Atlas might just take the belt in St. Paul. Kerry keeps finding a bunch of people coming after him! This has been a fun intro to the AWA for VonErich. Sheik has wasted no time in causing chaos! I wish I had seen more of him in real life. He seems to be one of the biggest heels of his time! St. Paul is going to be awesome.
-
Great man event with the babyface getting a win as the heel argues with the second ref. Great booking here. I also like how much you thought about who would fit into a Nashville promotion. A few farmers, some little guy in a mask as Mr. Memphis and Miss. Kentucky. Great all around job. I am always really entertained.

EPISODE #8 SEPTEMBER 30, 1988 Short Version as time was scarce this week. 1. Horsemen-Sting & Luger Feud On last week’s tv show, Sting was attacked in the locker room during Lex Luger’s match. While he was beaten pretty badly, he suffered no long-term injuries and will be just fine. He claimed that he was attacked by the Horsemen. The Horsemen had a little different opinion and claimed that it was only Arn Anderson who attacked him. They claimed Spivey and Flair were not even there. They were boasting that it only took The Enforcer to easily put down Sting. This week, we find out that there was a camera back there during the incident and while the camera did not go into the locker room, it did capture Flair, Spivey and Woman coming out just prior to the start of Luger’s match. This is when Flair and Woman came out to the podium to watch Luger’s match with Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross. I guess Flair and Spivey where in the locker room but we still have no prove that they were involved in the attack. Piper had some fun with his interview this week with the Horsemen as he enjoyed the fact the Flair seems very worried about Sting. No matter the truth, all roads lead to The Bayfront Center in St. Petersburgh for Clash of Champions: Fall Brawl where it will be Flair and Anderson taking on Luger and Sting. 2. Dusty Rhodes & Ron Simmons- Jimmy Jack Funk & Black Bart Feud Last week, we saw Jimmy Jack attack Dusty from behind with the branding iron. This week, we got some fiery promos from the teams but no real fireworks. Dusty and Simmons promise revenge at Fall Brawl where they will take on Funk and Bart in a Bunkhouse Stampede Match. 3. WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES This week it became official. It is bounty vs bounty at Fall Brawl. We have known for some time that Gary Hart is trying to rid wrestling of Dr. Death and Ted Dibiase and collect a 2-million-dollar bounty put on the champs by Sheik Adnan Al Kassie for their time in Mid-South Wrestling. Last week, we heard that Dr. Death and Dibiase are fighting fire with fire as they have placed a bounty on Gary Hart. We also found it this week that at Fall Brawl, it will be Hart’s Monsters, Abdullah the Butcher and Tarzan Goto trying to win that money for their manager while also becoming the World Tag Champions. However, there is a catch. If Dr. Death and Dibiase get the win, they will each get 5 minutes in the ring alone with Gary Hart. It seems like one way or another, a bounty might just be collected in St. Petersburg. 4. The WCW World Television Title Last week, we found out that “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert would be getting a TV title shot at Fall Brawl. We also saw “ Z-Man” Tom Zenk take on Hacksaw Butch Reed in his toughest test yet as TV champ. Eddie Gilbert was thinking ahead as he knew he wanted no piece of Hacksaw Butch Reed in his TV title shot so he attacked Zenk just before Reed beat the Z-Man for the title. This caused an immediate DQ and the Zenk kept his belt. Hacksaw Butch Reed was fuming at Gilbert for costing him the TV title and demanded a match with Gilbert on TV. Gilbert vehemently objected but the match took place anyway. Interesting thing here was that for the first time in a while, Reed received more applause than his opponent. After a few minutes of getting tossed from pillar to post, Hyatt pulled Gilbert away and they headed for the hills. Gilbert will next meet Z-Man for the TV Title but will Reed allow his to even get to the match. We will have to wait and see. 5. The WCW United States Tag Team Title This week we found out that the Rock N Roll Express will be one team wrestling for that vacated title at Fall Brawl. While a few teams were upset at this, it seems to be a no brainer as they are undefeated since their return to WCW. We also found out that next week, on TV, there will be a four team elimination match to determine the other team to wrestle for the title. Those teams are the Latin Connection, The Lightening Express, The Young Guns (Sam Houston & Kendall Windham) and The Nightmares. Piper had fun with all four of the teams but together, Piper and Mando seem to be like magic on the mic. While this week’s show seemed to focus mainly on Fall Brawl, there were a few other interesting tidbits. 1. Sir Oliver Humperdink sent in another video hyping up his hockey-masked monster. This time, we get a name… Lord Humongous… and a glimpse into his talent as he quickly put down four men in the ring, each with a single, scary move. First a clothesline, then a big boot, then a powerbomb and finally a face-first suplex. Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross both claimed to have never seen anything like it. 2. For the third week in a row, we get a match involving women. First, we had the 3 team intergender math. Last week we had Medusa in singles competition and this week, we had a dark match involving Bull Nakano. We first saw her in the intergender match we she partnered with Eddie Gilbert. This week, Gilbert and Hyatt were nowhere to be seen, but Nakano was even more fierce than the first time. WCW claims to be trying out the waters here of pushing a Women’s Division but they were not yet comfortable enough to put them on the big stage at Fall Brawl. 3. It seems like Rip Rogers and Jimmy Valiant are on a collision course at Rip took offense to just how hot Jimmy thought Terri was. Roddy did warn Jimmy that Terri could do her own damage to him but that just seemed to excite Jimmy even more. 4. There was someone standing in the shadows during Abdullah the Butcher’s match would did seem to upset Gary Hart as he wondered if it was someone coming to collect the bounty on his head. 5. Dick Murdoch continued to pummel his opponents as he tossed Larry Cheatum from post to post. Again, he was a lone “Texas Outlaw” as Stan Hansen is still in Texas.

Liking Music Wrestling. It seems like it is growing week by week. Miss. Elizabeth and Dark Journey seem to be on some sort of collision course. Can't wait to see who you do this and the outcome. Sean Baxter, Rocky King, Bobby Blaze... lots of interesting talent here. I know I keep saying this but I think the Assassin might be the leader of the heel group here.
-
Some cool new angles here this week in the AWA. I like the wild Jumbo. That would have been awesome to see. Also, seeing the Sheik get some run is great to see. I never saw him but from what I understand, he is a legend! Enjoyed the weightlifting angle. These really end well for the babyface. Atlas proved that to be true again. This is going to be an even match-up. Can't wait to see which way you go with it. St. Paul is going to be huge!

Really like Tojo as a babyface. Nice storyline with him as a protector for Jaimie Dundee. This angle has a lot of options which makes it so interesting to follow. Great booking. Also, I am really liking the loaded mask wearing Assassin. I continue to think he is going to be big time. I think Nashville was a smart place. A historically strong CWA town that enjoys wrestling. Bring in a few old time Memphis stars once you have an audience to pay their salary and away you go.
