WITH GORDON SOLIE JUNE 25, 1986 BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA Gordon Solie: Thank you. Thank you so very much and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest and largest sanctioning body the world over. Folks we are just over a week away from the greatest event in wrestling history… The Great American Bash. A three-night wrestling spectacular in 3 cities that showcases all of the top talent across the entire NWA. I am lucky enough to be announcing the event on Independence Day and we will be discussing that card in Pensacola throughout tonight’s show. Also, on tonight’s show we will be seeing Lanny Poffo taking on Doug Gilbert. “White Lightening” Tim Horner will be taking on “Rotten” Ron Starr. In an Arm-Wrestling Challenge, “Dangerous” Danny Davis is taking on Reggie Bennett and in the Main Event, it will be the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death teaming with “Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley against the entire Tennessee Stud Stable, Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden and the “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell. That and much, much more when we return! Commercials + Promo for the Great American Bash PENSACOLA BAY CENTER JULY 4, 1986 NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH Magnum T.A. © vs The Masked Superstar NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Ted Dibiase & Dr. Death © vs The Tennessee Studd Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) MASK VS CONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH “Dirty” Dick Slater © vs Mr. Olympia CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH Tommy & Johnny Rich © vs Bob & Brad Armstrong LOSER WEAR A DRESS MATCH Jimmy Garvin with Precious vs Lanny Poffo with Woman NWA JR. HEAVYWEIGHT MATCH “Mr. Electricity Steve Regal © vs “White Lightening Tim Horner SOUTHEASTERN TITLE MATCH: TITLE & CONTRACT ON A POLE Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley vs “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel with Ronnie P. Gossett INTERGENDER MATCH Reggie Bennett vs “Dangerous” Danny Davis PATRIOTIC GRUDGE MATCH Killer Khan with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie vs Private Terry Daniels When we come out of break, we see Tommy “Wildfire” Rich, Johnny Rich, Bob and Brad Armstrong at the interview desk. These two teams were bitter ememies just a few weeks ago but that all changed when Tommy Gilbert brought in Wildfire’s mother and she seemed to straighten out the bad behavior of the Rich boys. Gordon hypes up the fact that these two teams will be facing each other at the Great American Bash with the Continental Title on the line. Both teams expressed the fact that they are in for a tough match and Wildfire and Johnny apologized for their recent actions and that they are so happy the crowd has come back to support them like they did in the past. A handshake by all wrestlers and Gordon takes us to the ring for our first match. MATCH Lanny Poffo with Woman vs Doug Gilbert Solie begins by hyping up the Loser Wears a Dress Match between Poffo and Jimmy Garvin at the Great American Bash. Throughout the match, it is obvious that Gilbert is quickly improving as he is giving Poffo all that he can handle. Problem was that Poffo and Woman make a great team and when Poffo distracted the ref, Woman sprayed something at the face of Gilbert and he went out cold. Poffo climbed to the top rope and came off with an unnecessary frog splash. Gordon Solie: What’s this? What is Woman doing. She has some sort of garment, it’s a …. Dress. She hands it to Lanny Poffo and he is putting it on Doug Gilbert. Oh my, this is wrong. Doug Gilbert is out on his feet after whatever Woman sprayed in his nose. Poffo has the dress over the head of Gilbert. There is a roar from the crowd… Gordon Solie: Here comes Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin…. Poffo sees him and is running for the ropes. Garvin swings at Poffo. Poffo escapes the punch and Garvin and is running for the locker room. As Poffo gets to the curtain, we see Poffo and Woman smiling while Garvin is screaming at them to get back in the ring and we will see who is wearing the dress at the Great American Bash. Garvin helps Gilbert to his feet as Gilbert thanks Garvin for his help. Commercials + Promo for the Great American Bash Before our next match, the Continental Champion, Dick Slater joins Solie to hype his title vs mask match at the Bash. Slater comes out to a mixed reaction as some agree that Mr. Olympia is the bad guy while others fault Slater for attacking Olympia after he failed to show up for a few tag matches. Dick Slater: One thing I know is that my word means everything to me. If I say I am going to be somewhere, I am going to be there. If I say I’ve got your back, trust me, I got your back. I guess that doesn’t hold true for Mr. Olympia. I know we have seen his ugly face before and that mask doesn’t mean a lot to some of you, but to me, it is his way of hiding. His way to do whatever he wants. If he says one thing and does another, that’s okay because he really isn’t Mr. Olympia. Well, once I beat him in the center of that ring at the Great American Bash, he won’t have that mask to hide behind anymore. Like I said, my word is one thing that never bends and whether you like it or not, I guarantee that Mr. Olympia will leave Pensacola without his other identity and without my Continental Title! Gordon Solie: There you have it fans. Dick Slater has given his word that he is going to beat Mr. Olympia at the Bash and I have known Dick a long time and when he says something, it almost always gets done! Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH “White Lightening” Tim Horner defeated “Rotten” Ron Starr” with the rolling cradle. Tim Horner did a good job of dealing with the questionable tactics of Ron Starr and taking advantage of his speed to catch Starr with the cradle. Solie spent most of the match hyping up the fact that Horner had earned an NWA Jr. Heavyweight Title Match at the Bash and his opponent would either be the current champ, Mr. Electricity Steve Regal, the current champ or Eric Embry who Regal will face on the first night of the Great American Bash. Horner, humble as always, praised both Regal and Embry but does say that he is more then ready to win back the title he has already held before and that that he is ready to mix it up if Regal or Embry wants to and if you didn’t believe him, just take a look at what just happened to Rotten Ron Starr. Commercials + Promo for the Great American Bash As we come out break, Magnum T.A. is with Gordon Solie Gordon Solie: Magnum T.A., it is great to have the NWA World Champion here with us tonight. Magnum T.A.: Gordon, it is great to be here. NWA has the greatest fans in all of wrestling and it is always a honor to be with them. Gordon Solie: I agree with you there Magnum. Now let’s get to the Great American Bash. 3 Night, 3 Cities against Jumbo Tsuruta, Masked Superstar and “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff. Magnum: It is going to be a tough run but as the champion, I am used to wrestling all over the world and against the toughest competition in the world. I am confident. Confident in myself and confident in these fans that we will come out of this on top. Gordon Solie: I certainly hope so and I wish you luck. Thanks for giving us a few moments of your time. Let’s get back to the ring where we have a very interesting contest coming up next… It will be an Arm-Wrestling Match between Dangerous Danny Davis and Reggie Bennett. ARM-WRESTLING MATCH Danngerous Danny Davis vs Reggie Bennett Gordon takes a few moments to explain that Davis has been talking a lot lately about the inabilities of women in the wrestling industry and how he believes they should be at home serving there man. Danny Davis enters the ring flexing his “muscles” as best he could with his 175 pound body and starts pointing at and laughing at Reggie Bennett. Bennett comes out with a coat on and then when Davis gets in her face, she takes of coat and reveals a massive body! Even the arrogant Davis takes a step back. As the two get ready for the arm-wrestling match, Davis shows the normal antics before an armwrestling match. He stalls, pulls away, walks around the ring but none of this gets under the skin of Bennett. Eventually the two get locked up and the ref signals for the match to begin. WHAM… 2 seconds later, Bennett slams Davis’s hand to the table. Davis is stunned while Reggie Bennett celebrates her win by turning to the fans. WHAM… From behind, Dangerous Danny Davis clobbers Reggie Bennett with a big forearm smash. Bennett completely no sells the attack and turns ready to kill Davis. Davis has that look of complete fear in his eyes! WHAM… Bennett scoops Davis up, walks around the ring for a good 20 seconds or so before planting him hard in the center of the ring with a huge powerslam! Satisfied that she has proven her point, Bennett leaves the ring ready for the Great American Bash! Commercials + Promo for the Great American Bash As we come out of break, we see Ronnie P. Gossett with Gordon Solie and he is so excited by the fact that in little over a week, he will be the manager of the not only the Southeastern Champion as Nature Boy Buddy Landel will easily beat Wendy Cooley and that the Studd Stable are the greatest tag team in the world today so they will beat whatever team survives the first night of the bash and become the NWA World Tag Team Champions. Gordon reminds RPG that the Southeastern Title match is also a contract on a pole match and that he might just be without the services of Mr. Landel once the Bash is over. Once again, RPG wonder how much Solie has had to drink today. Solie quickly answers back wondering how much RPG had to eat today. RPG threatened Solie but Solie did not back down. 6 MAN TAG MATCH: Ted Dibiase, Dr. Death & Wendell Cooley vs Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden and Buddy Landel with RPG This match gives Solie one last chance to hype up the Bash as each member of the match got their time to shine. In the end, we get one of those wild DDQ as there is brawling all over the arena as Solie reminds us to get out tickets to the Bay Canter in Pensacola on Independence Day! Gordon Solie: So long from the heart of Dixie! DARK MATCHES The Dirty White Boy defeats Joe Savoldi with the Bucksnort Blaster. Scott & Steve Armstrong defeat Ron & Don Harris with double top rope leg drops on Ron. Plowboy Frazier defeats JR Hogg with a Giant Splash Steve Gatorwolf defeats Mr. X with a running knee lift.

All roads lead to WrestlRock! The RnR Express with a little heel action here adds a whole knew element to them. This is going to be fun to watch. The Billy Jack's feud is one that I am really enjoying. Wahoo vs Bock, Lawler vs Dundee are huge as a victory here could send them to the top of the contender's list for the AWA World Title! Brusie Brothers vs Priceless is..... well.... Priceless! Can't wait for the write up for GIant Haystacks vs El Canek.

First for the show on June 23... Like how Madusa is dressing down her own stablemates but it will be interesting to see how long they stand for it.... especially Maxine. As for the Supercard.... Madusa and Maxine win the tag title but again, Madusa does nothing in the interview to endure her to her stablemates! Not so fast Wendy Richter.... makes this feud even better with her defeat.
-
Very well booked card. The fan favorites get off to a fast start but then the heels make the comeback follwed by an action backed 2 out of 3 falls Draw! I like the team of U.S. Steel and Rufus. Their size and brawling ability fit nice here in WSW! They would really get over with the crowd. Between the Funks, Zaibatsu, Dev. Inc, The Long RIders, etc, etc, your tag team division is DEEP and really fits well into this territory. Really glad you have jumped in with us. Thanks! WSW is a fun read each and every show.

I really enjoyed the card in Portland. Seeing Hansen and the young Simmons in an all out brawl would be something I would remember for ever. Busick is one of my favorites in the game and I real enjoy what you have done with him. As always, your development of the youngsters is awesome to see. Young Vic in the title match was cool but the Playboy is right where he deserves to be! The Eugene card was also very interesting to see as the development of the youngsters continues to be a focus of PCW. Adams with a nive win. JJ making the most of his tag team situation. Windham seems to be getting on a roll here and your last two matches were big time. Can I ask are your California titles on the line even when the event is not in California?
-
Continental adds Steve Gatorwolf, Ted Allen, Don Bass, Jerry Oates, Don and Ron Harris, JR Hogg. and Billy Joe Travis. This are jobbers for me but if any of you want them for any real angles, please ask and they are yours

Scarlet is having trouble posting his show so he asked me to do it for him. The site seems to be acting up again. Hey there, I hope this works! I’m currently unable to properly access the site. The reply form never opens and all I’m left with is the option to insert an attachment. If possible, could you reply to my thread with this and explain the situation? Thanks in advance! * Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XXIX – 23rd of June 1986 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Lisa Moretti versus Desiree Petersen for the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship This week, the programme opens with a snazzy video package showing off loads of new merchandise, extra footage of Debbie Combs and hype packages for various matches at the upcoming supercard. We then move onto the television title match, with Velvet McIntyre taking on Luna Vachon. The challenger is coached throughout the match by her mentor Medusa Miceli and seems to have greatly improved her in-ring ability but even the guidance and occasional overt aid from the leader of the monsters can’t keep Luna Vachon in the game long enough to really pose a threat to Velvet McIntyre – who seems to have found a new lease of life as TV champion. Velvet McIntyre defeats Luna Vachon in 13:10 by pinfall after a swinging hurricanrana to retain the WWW Television Championship After a brief interlude – this one shilling the new “WWW Magazine” and its inaugural prediction competition – we head to the interviews. All of the monsters are sat with Luna Vachon for a tense dressing down from their leader. Rhonda Singh tries to complain about Luna Vachon being given her spot but is browbeaten by an enraged Medusa Miceli who promises to show them how it’s done in her own match. Velvet McIntyre uses her interview time to politely request that Debbie Combs consider her for a world title match when she “inevitably” crushes Wendi Richter for a second time. A commercial break then takes us through to a tag team match to determine the title challengers on Saturday. The Star Girls are taking on the terrifying pairing of Medusa Miceli and Mad Maxine. The resulting contest is brutal from start to finish as the superior athlete Medusa Miceli takes on a well-oiled machine in the form of Rockin’ Robin and Jamie West almost single-handed as she leaves Mad Maxine on the apron – saving her for clean-up duty. As tiredness eventually wears her down, Medusa Miceli is forced to tag out after pin attempt catches her with less than a second to spare. Once Mad Maxine enters, however, it’s obvious who’ll win. Rockin’ Robin takes a big boot that sends her soaring from the apron, colliding violently with the guard rail, and Jamie West goes up for a devastating gorilla press slam. Medusa Miceli & Mad Maxine defeat Rockin’ Robin & Jamie West in 14:32 when Mad Maxine pins Jamie West after a gorilla press slam After another brief interlude, we head to the interviews. The Star Girls, beaten and bruised, swear they’ll find a strategy for neutralising Mad Maxine the next time that the two teams clash. Medusa Miceli, on the other hand, rants at the interviewer, the audience and her own stablemates – declaring herself to be the most dominant competitor in the company and promising to have every title belt in the company around the waist of a member of her faction by the time the summer’s over. A second commercial break then takes us to the main event. With her stablemates there to cheer her on and no one in the champ’s corner, Desiree Petersen has the morale advantage and, in the early goings of the match even appears to have tactical advantage. Once the feeling out process is complete, however, Lisa Moretti sinks her teeth in and proceeds to torture the challenger at every turn. The champion is utterly merciless and uses the contest, seemingly, to prove a point. The babyface breaks out occasionally, even going on extended runs from time to time but, without variation, is brought to heel before she can seriously threaten an upset. Lisa Moretti defeats Desiree Petersen in 15:07 by pinfall after a powerslam to retain the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship

The Masked Avenger is going to be an awesome angle. The Highlight of the show was the Corny interview. Wonder if he is just talking or if he really knows about the Avenger? Hacksaw vs Playboy... Going to be fun!!

Awesome TV show this week. I wouldn't want to go head to head with you in a Dawn of War Trivia contest. That back stroy about The Wild Bunch was spot on. Also loved the backstory of Mantell in Vietnam. Stories make this game! Jumbo is one tough dude. Tojo was correct. Both Mantell and T.A. better be READY! Nice win for Jimmy Jack. The Funks are starting to roll in their territory. To the Sports Arena: AWESOME CARD! Like Shaska being the opening heel. Gets the fans throwing some heat right away. Great use of the stipulation in that Partner Handcuffed to the ringpost. No problem... take off the turnbuckle! Very creative. Scott Irwin over Super D... Interesting! then Bill Irwin survives the next bout with a DDQ against Brooks. Jumbo is on a roll! Can he take the World Title... We will have to see!

Awesome show as we head towards WrestleRock The Golden Boys angle has me very interested. Can't see what role Vin Man plays in all of this. Another angle that I can't wait to see play out is El Canek vs Giant Haystacks.... something must give here... might even be the ring if in is not re-enforced BattenRock looks like trouble for Southern Justice The tag team division is deepere then ever... RnR, Fab Ones, Bruise Brothers... that's a lot for the fans to cheer for. Love the Bruise Brothers going to the pawn shop to sell the Billionaires title. Don't be nervous. This might be the best day yet in the history of Dawn of War! Really love these southern type brawls to end the AWA shows.

Dawn of War would like to welcome Jeff5819 to our game. He will be writing for Smoky Mountain Wrestling! His roster is up and ready to go!

MAY 24, 1986 BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA Gordon Solie: Thank you. Thank you so very much and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest and largest sanctioning body the world over. We are back stronger than ever after a two week hiatus due to Atlanta Braves baseball here on the Superstation but we more than make up for it. I guarantee you that. Mr. Olympia will be in action tonight as he takes on Rotten Ron Starr. Buddy Landel has a tough one tonight against Chief Joe Lightfoot as he tries to prepare for his Southeastern Title shot against Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley at the Great American Bash. Also, hoping to continue his push towards the Bash and his NWA World Title shot against Magnum T.A. is the Masked Superstar who will be taking on the former World Jr. Heavyweight Champion in White Lightening Tim Horner. Jimmy Garvin will be taking on The Assassin while Killer Khan will be involved in a handicap match. If that is not enough folks, listen to the main event. It will be Bob and Brad Armstrong taking on the Tennessee Studd Stable … Jimmy Golden and Robert Fuller! That and much, much, more. Our timekeeper is set to go so let’s get to the ring! MATCH: Mr. Olympia defeats Rotten Ron Starr with the Sleeper Throughout the match Gordon Solie reminded fans that Mr. Olympia will challenge his long-time friend Dick Slater for the Continental Heavyweight title at the Great American Bash. Solie reminds us that the relationship between the two has been strained of late as Mr. Olympia failed to show up for a few tag matches and Slater was left to fend for himself and then Slater, frustrated with Olympia, recently sucker punched him with a big right hand. As far as this match goes, the crowd was divided. Half seemed to blame him for the situation with Slater while they others cheered him as if he did nothing wrong. In tonight’s match, Olympia played it by the books until he got fed up with the questionable tactics by Starr and then he the brawl was on. After the sleeper ended the bout, Olympia roughly slapped Star across the neck to bring him back to the living. Post-Match Interview: Gordon Solie: Mr. Olympia, I must ask what is going on between you and Dick Slater. Mr. Olympia: Gordon, honestly, I used to call Dick Slater my friend. I could count on him to do the right thing but when he punched me last week, everything changed. The title has gone to his head. He thinks everyone owes him something. He blamed me for him looking bad. I tried to explain to him that I had car trouble and I was sorry for missing the match. I mean has he never had a situation come up? He started yelling that he is the Continental Champ and that I needed to do better! Do better….. you bet I will Slater. At the Great American Bash in Pensacola on July 4th, I will do better and take that Continental Title home with me! COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR BOTH THE BASH & MONDAY @ THE BOUTWILL AUDITORIUM MATCH: Nature Boy Buddy Landel with Ronnie P. Gossett beats Chief Joe Lightfoot with the Corkscrew Elbow This bout showed Landel is near perfect form where he needed little help Gossett to beat a really game Joe Lightfoot. Solie was very impressed with Landel and reminded fans that Wendel Cooley better be on his best game if he is going to defend that Southeastern Title against Landel at the Great American Bash. Post-Match Interview: Ronnie P: Gordon, Gordon, Gordon! Have you ever seen a wrestler with more pure skill than my man, “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel! Gordon Solie: I will admit that he was very impressive today. Buddy Landel: Today? I am always impressive. I am the perfect wrestler and at the Great American Bash, I will become the new Southeastern Heavyweight Champion. Gordon Solie: Folks, remember this bout will be a Title and Contract On A Pole Match so if Buddy Landell can’t climb up and grab the title, he will no longer be a part of Continental Championship Wrestling. Ronnie P: I thought for once Solie you had come to work without going off on one of your benders but that you even think for one minute that The Nature Boy could loose to that long haired hippie your drunker then ever honey! As Landel and Ronnie P walk off laughing Solie wonders what life could be like if it was Ronnie P. in a contract on a pole match because there is no way that he would ever make it up a pole without some sort of crane! COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR BOTH THE BASH & MONDAY @ THE BOUTWILL AUDITORIUM As we come out of break, we see a video from the most arrogant man to never win a match…. Dangerous Danny Davis. All 6’0, 175 pounds of Davis are seen in the gym lifting some pathetic weights and flexing his not so big muscles all the while saying that women have no business being in the ring and that he is going to wipe the floor with Reggie Bennett. When the video is over, Reggie Bennett is with Gorson Solie. Gordon Solie: Reggie, what do you make of what we just saw from Dangerous Danny Davis Reggie Bennett: I find it funny and sad at the same time. Funny, looking at Davis is a gym. Funny at him thinking that he could beat me at anything and sad that he has such a lack of respect for women in general. I can’t wait until the Great American Bash in Pensacola when I show him what real muscles can do! MATCH: The Masked Superstar defeats “White Lightening” Tim Horner by submission with the Cobra Clutch Masked Superstar II accompanied The Masked Superstar to the ring but was just a spectator here tonight. Horner gave it his all and had a few roll-up pin attempts but he was giving away nearly 80 pounds in this contest and just got worn down with big move after big move. Post-Match Interview: Gordon Solie: Very impressive, very impressive Superstar, Masked Superstar: Gordon, very soon when you refer to me, you will refer to me as the Superstar. The professional wrestler. The man who defeated Magnum T.A. The NWA World Heavyweight Champion. You just saw that the Cobra Clutch is the most devastation, inescapable move in professional wrestling and once I lock these arms around the neck of Magnum T.A., there is nothing he can do about it! Gordon Solie: Well Superstar, I must admit that in all my years of professional wrestling, Magnum T.A. is one of the best I have ever seen. I do not think it will be as easy as you say it will be to take the world title off his hands. Masked Superstar: I take nothing away from Magnum T.A. He is a very, very good wrestler. I have seen him beat the likes of Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff, and Tully Blanchard. The only thing is that I am better then all of them and he won’t beat me. The two Masked Superstars walk away as Gordon reminds the fans that The Great American Bash will be very trying on all of the NWA World Champions as they are going to be defending their titles three times in three different cities in three nights against the best the NWA has to offer and the Masked Superstar is definitely one of them. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR BOTH THE BASH & MONDAY @ THE BOUTWILL AUDITORIUM HANDICAP MATCH Killer Khan with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie crushes Rob Veasel and Bubba Mayes This bout shows the 300 pound monster billed from Mongolia just beat the two jobbers from pillar to post. When he was done punching, kicking, choking and kneeing his opponents, Khan simple stacked them on top of each other and stood on them both at the same time for the three count. Post-Match Interviw: Gordon Solie: Sheik Adnan Al Kassie… I will admit that your man is extremely tough but it seems that your anti-American comments have upset U.S. Marine Terry Daniels and he vows to defeat your man on Independence Day at the Great American Bash Shiek Adnan Al Kassie: masaa' alkhayr. anaa saäiid jiddan bimuqaabalatak kayfa Haluk Gordon Solie: I will admit that I have no idea what you are saying Sheik. Sheik Adnan: Not to worry about that now. Everyone wants to know where Sheik Adnan Al Kassie has been. Well I have been back in my hometown of Baghdad, Iraq and I have been getting updates on all the evil things that America has been doing. I decide it was time to wage war on America. I used some of my riches to hire a mercenary and he is coming to take over American wrestling. What you just saw in the ring a few minutes ago is only the beginning. I warn you Terry Daniels… DO NOT SHOW UP FOR THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH! Gordon Solie: It will take a lot more than words to get an American Marine to back down. I assure you that! COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR BOTH THE BASH & MONDAY @ THE BOUTWILL AUDITORIUM MATCH Jimmy Garvin with Precious defeats The Assassin with sit-down jawbreaker This was a really tough match as Garvin couldn’t seem to control the big man and failed to hoist him up for the Brainbuster. Garvin coming up with the jawbreaker for the win allowed Gordon to hype up just how talented he is and that he can beat you in many ways. During the entire match, Solie reminded fans that it would be Garvin vs Lanny Poffo at the Bash in a Loser Wears A Dress Match. In the post-match interview, Garvin said kept saying that how beautiful he was and that most beautiful people look even better in a dress but he guaranteed everyone that it would be the UGGLY Lanny Poffo wearing the dress at the Bash and not his. Precious gets involved in the interview as she opens up her purse to pull out a Moo Moo which se claimed was the only dress she could find that would fit Poffo’s personality. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR BOTH THE BASH & MONDAY @ THE BOUTWILL AUDITORIUM MAIN EVENT: Bob & Brad Armstrong vs Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden with Ronnie P. Gossett As so many of these big TV matches do, we get a wild finish! We get exactly what you would expect from these 4 men…. BRAWL, BRAWL, BRAWL! Unfortunately for the Armstrongs, when the action spilled outside, Gossett tripped Bob and CRACK… Fuller with a Chair shot on Papa Armstrong. The bell sounded giving the Armstrongs the DQ win but that was of little importance as the attack was still on. This left the Studd Stable with a 2-1 advantage over Brad and they worked him over pretty good. The crowd exploded… Gordon Solie: Here comes the calvary. It’s Tommy and Johnny Rich! Wildfire with a big right hand on Golden. Johnny and Fuller are trading punches in the middle of the ring. Here comes Tommy. Wildfire grabs Fuller and tosses him to the corner. Wildfire up on the middle rope and he is pounding on Fuller. Folks, I hate to do this but we are out of time. So long from the Heart of Dixie.

No problem needing some personal time. This is always for fun around here. I have to agree with Autistic Dragon... that one is worth using. Like when I know that I am going to get more Wendy Richter soon! This rematch should be fun. Maya Singh might never learn but I think she has found a gimmick that could work for years to come! Thanks for continuing with this creative promotion.

Two great events for Pacific. For me, you continue to be the master at help building the starsof tomorrow. Giving JJ, Severn to help teach him the ropes was a perfect idea. The Midnight Express conitine to roll of late. While the fans are not to happy with Playboy being back on top in Pacific, it gives me the feeling that everything is right in the world of wrestling. Nice job!

Awesome show as we head towards WrestleRock I thought you did a great job with your interviews this week as you really captured the character of your wrestlers. Unnistan from Duncan and Rezzy from VIn Man had me going! Great Job. It's going to WAAAR.... from Iukea would have sent chills down my spine. He was one scary dude with all that blading to his forehead. Hennig and Adias are becoming Perfectly Arrogant! Let's Go RNR Express! Great match for RnR Express vs Pricless.... You hyped up so much here.... the Express came out looking great while the Brusie Brothers and Priceless heat up their feud! WOW... Moretti puts the Dog Collar on Sunshine.... I smell REVENGE coming! Poor Lothario. It will be fun to see how you write up the match between El Canek and Haystacks. Some one is MOVING UP THE LADDER! I was really looking forward to see who came out on top between the Maniac/Crippler vs The Superflys.... I should have figured out that the Cartel wasn't going to let that go the distance. ON TO LOUISVILLE Great overall card with all the big names continuing their push to WrestleRock. That main event would sell some MAJOR TICKETS! Glad Wahoo joined the AWA as you know just how to use him.
-
-Great week for the NWA! Thanks for joining in on the Great American Bash. Very creative with your jobbers names... Catahecassa Sullivan, the Moondogs and the Devil's Duo along with so many of the heels in Western States are starting to hit their stride. I think this works really good in this type of territory. Nice win for Al Perez. I like how you are using him and he is becoming a perfect upper midcard baby face for you. AWESOME ENDING TO THE TV SHOW... Jumbo and his letter to Mantel-san. I like how he wanted to read it to make sure not to let Tojo change the words. Jumbo is one smart dude! Looking forward to the big title bout. Great week at the Sports Arena. Huge win for Scott Irwin over Whatley. They way Whatley has been making the money for Slick and Irwin getting the win shows just how big Irwin is going to be for you. Chicky over Dory... Dory shows he is willing to do anything to help his company. I could see a Bull Rope Match in the future! Jimmy Jack gets the nice win over the foreign invader. The El Paso crowd would have loved this one. Mantell with the win a little taunt with the belt for Zaibatsu.... Nice ending

WITH JIM ROSS & BILL WATTS MAY 29, 1986 THE SPORTATORIUM DALLAS, TEXAS Jim Ross: Hey everybody! Welcome to another great episode of Mid-South Wrestling coming to you from the world’s most famous arena, The Sportatorium, from right here in downtown Dallas, Texas. I’m Jim Ross and it’s certainly my privilege to have NWA President, Cowboy Bill Watts as my partner on today’s show. Thank you, Bill, for being with us. Bill Watts: Glad to be here Jim. We have a great show for everyone tonight as Jake “The Snake” Roberts takes on Ricky Gibson. Ron Bass and Black Bart will be taking on Iron Mike Sharpe and The Executioner. We will also have Terry Taylor matching up against the man who has been calling him Theresa for the last few weeks, Gary Young. We also have a huge handicap match for you as Harley Race and Bruiser Brody have challenged Tarzan Goto and Larry Zbyszko to a match where they can pick a wrestler of their choosing to for a 3-2 match. Folks, that’s not all. Listen to this main event. It will be the Russian Nightmare Nikita Koloff vs Blackjack Mulligan. Jim Ross: Bill, that is why the NWA is considered the grand daddy of them all in the world of professional wrestling. We give the fans in the arena and on tv the best matches in the sport week in and week out. Before we get to the ring for our first match, I want to bring everyone back to the end of last week’s show. We see a video of Terry Gordy defeating Krusher Kruschev with a powerslam only to be attacked by Michael Hayes. Hayes tried to clock Gordy with a small chain but Bam Bam blocked it. Hayes took off running for his life with Gordy in hot pursuit. Jim Ross: To tell you the truth, we had no idea what happened after that but thanks to the hard work of one of our camera men, we do have footage of the confrontation between the two former teammates. Fans, I would like to warn you that what you are about to see is rather violent and you may want to take your children to another room for a minute or two. Again, we go to the video tape where we see that Terry Gordy had caught up to Michael Hayes in the parking lot and the two are really getting after each other. Bodyslams on the hoods of cards. Irish whips into the doors. Heads being slammed into the trunk. Give Michael Hayes his due as he doesn’t back down and is giving it as good as he is getting. The video ends with both men bloodied and being separated by about a dozen men. Jim Ross: Bill, I’m unsure what to say. That is one of the most violent encounters I have seen in all my years in the sport of professional wrestling. That is way to personal if you ask me. Bill Watts: I agree with you and it is obvious that these two men will need to settle this inside the squared circle. We will be hearing from the Mid-South Champion, Terry Gordy, a little later in the show and we will get his take on this serious situation. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH: Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeats Ricky Gibson with the DDT In the post-match interview, Jim Ross asks The Snake about last week’s confrontation with Iceman Parsons where he used the DDT on Iceman on the concrete floor. Jake Roberts: Last week I told Parsons that he should shut his mouth and stop wasting everyone’s time. He refused so I shut if for him. Some people stay clear of Snakes while others go searching for them. Be careful when you find them Iceman. Some are poisonous. Jim Ross: You know Iceman spent most of this week in the hospital as a result of your attack? Jake Roberts: I guess this snake is one of the poisonous ones. Tell Parsons stay away. The next snake bite might be deadly. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN SAN ANTONIO Before we get back to the action, we see an emotional interview with Terry Gordy. Terry Gordy: Michael Hayes… you talk about family. You talk about a brotherhood. Why don’t you just say the truth. You sat there while Buddy Jack and myself did all the work. Once a week or so you would step into the ring on night where we might not have had the toughest opponents and then you would come on TV and talk about how after you were crackin heads and partying down on Bad Street, you made the Freebirds the greatest tag team in wrestling. Listen up BRO-THER… you did nothing but ride my coattails and anytime you feel like you can hang with me in the ring, just sign your name on the dotted line and I’ll be there. MATCH Terry Taylor vs “Gorgeous” Gary Young Young was already in the ring when Taylor entered to a thunderous ovation. WHAM… Pearl Harbor attack by Gary Young. He tosses Taylor out of the ring. WHAM… Young slams Taylor into the steel girder. WHAM… Young with a chair shot on Taylor. DJ Peterson and George Wells rush down and help protect Taylor from any further attacks. The ring announcer says since the bell never sounded to start the match, this bout has been declared a No Contest! Gary Young rushes over and grabs the mic from Jim Ross: Gary Young: It’s not often that the Gorgeous One is wrong but last week I misspoke. I said it would take me about 5 seconds to beat Theresa Taylor. Well, it took 0 seconds before I beat her so badly, the ref called for the bell. A note to the NWA, stop wasting my time! Give me some competition. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN SAN ANTONIO When we come out of break, we get a quick but fiery interview from Terry Taylor where he demands a rematch next week in San Antonio against Gary Young and Bill Watt’s quickly grants it. HANDICAP MATCH Harley Race & Bruiser Brody vs Larry Zbyszko, Taran Goto and “Mr. Orient” Ron Slinker Zbyszko introduced Slinker as the mystery partner in a pre-match interview where he praised Slinker for being like himself, a master of the martial arts. Slinker and Zbyszko do a rather impressive knun-chuck demonstration at the podium while Goto just sat there;stone face ready to attack anything that moved. Watts said that he had spoken to Race and Brody in the back earlier and asked them why they agree to a handicap match against the formidable duo of Zbyszko and Goto and Harley Race explained that Zbyszko is such a weasel it is better to have him put his cards on the table before the match then to wait for him to cheat during it. As for the match, Zbyszko and Slinker made Goto do most of the in-ring action but he was soon worn down by Race and Brody. Slinker was next up and he was not very impressive without his knun chucks and Brody and Race were taking him to the woodshed. Slinker went for a tag but Zbyszko jumped down to the floor so not to be tagged in. WHAM… Mauling knee smash be Brody… tag to Race. WHAM… Diving headbutt by Race and that is all she wrote for Slinker. Zbyszko threw his hands at Slinker and motioned to Goto to leave Slinker there. Zbyszko stopped by the interview desk where he was very disappointed in Slinker for false advertising about being a martial arts expert and that he was done with the inept “Mr. Orient.” COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN SAN ANTONIO Before our next bout, Cowboy Bill Watts lets us know that the Funk brothers out there in Western States Wrestling have yet to return the NWA World Tag Team Titles to Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams so the champs have headed out there to “get them back by any means necessary.” “Outlaw” Ron Bass & Black Bart defeat Iron Mike Sharpe & The Executioner after Bart hit the Texas Trash Compacter (Tope Rope Double Leg Drop) on Iron Mike In their post-match interview, Bart and Bass were praised for their success and the fan favorites said they are one of the best tag teams in the industry and would love to have a chance at wearing some championship gold again. The Mid-South Tag Champs, Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan were heading to the ring for Mulligan’s singles match against Nikita Koloff and stopped by to congratulate Bass and Bart as well as insult the Russians. Ron Bass took control of the interview as he reminded Dusty Rhodes of his words from last week when he said that he and Mulligan were the baddest cowboys in all of wrestling and that they would never allow any NWA Gold Belts to head back to Moscow! When Dusty Rhodes heard this, he was thinking that Bass was liking this comment as any American would as it was against the Koloffs. Rhodes was a little taken back when Bass said that he didn’t want the belts going back to Russia either but that he and Black Bart had an issue with Rhodes saying they were the baddest Cowboys in Wrestling because everyone knows that he and Bart are pretty “bad” themselves. Rhodes tried to clear the air but there still seemed to be some tension between the champs and Ron Bass and Black Bart. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN SAN ANTONIO MATCH “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff vs Blackjack Mulligan Mulligan is the one man with the size to deal with Mulligan, but he became distracted by Kruscher Kruschev who rushed out and joined Ivan Koloff to attack Dusty Rhodes who had accompanied Mulligan to the ring. Mulligan goes out after Ivan. Ivan retreats around the ring. Wham…. Russian Sickle by Nikita on Mulligan…. Mulligan is down. The Russians are attacking 3-2 and they are all over the Mid-South Tag Team Champs as the ref calls for the bell as Nikita is disqualified! Jim Ross: Here comes the cavalry…. We hope! It’s Ron Bass and Black Bart. WHAM… Bart and Bass attack…… the …… Russians! Eventually with it 4-3, the Cowboys (Bass, Bart, Rhodes and Mulligan) take control of the brawl and the show ends with the fan favorites in control of the ring! Jim Ross: What a night of action we just saw! Be sure to be with us next week in San Antonio for another night of great wrestling. So long from the Lone Star State! DARK MATCHES One Man Gang crushed Frankie Lancaster with a 747 Splash George Wells defeated Lord Jonathan Boyd by DQ when Boyd hit Wells with the New Zealand flag.

WITH JIM ROSS & BILL WATTS MAY 22, 1986 LAKEFRONT ARENA NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA Jim Ross: Hey everybody! Welcome to another great episode of Mid-South Wrestling coming to you from Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’m Jim Ross and it’s certainly my privilege to have NWA President, Cowboy Bill Watts as my partner on today’s show. Thank you, Bill, for being with us. Bill Watts: Glad to be here Jim. We have a great show for everyone tonight but first, I would like to bring out the NWA Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase and Dr Death Steve Williams. As the champs come out…. Bill Watts: Champs, not sure what to tell you but another week has past and still the NWA World Titles have not been returned. Ted Dibiase: Bill, I trust you are doing everything in your power to get those belts back, but I think the Funks are playing some games out there in Western States Wrestling. Dr. Death: I totally agree but I also know that the only way the Funks can keep those titles is to run and hide. Problem is Dory…. Terry….. we are not the type of people who will wait and see what happens next. Ted and I will be in Western States Wrestling real soon and we will get our belts back by any means necessary! Jim Ross: Folks there you have it. People out there in West Texas, I have a feeling you are going to see some angry NWA World Tag Team Champions real soon. Bill Watts: Dory and Terry, you better have eyes in the back of your heads. As for tonight’s show we got Gary Young taking on Verlon Biggs. Iceman Parsons will take on the Executioner. Ron Bass and Black Bart will face Jonathan Boyd & Hercules Simms and then we have two big title matches as Terry Gordy puts the North American Title on the line against Kruscher Kruschev and in a Mid-South Title Match, it will be Hacksaw Butch Reed putting his title on the line against the monster, One Man Gang. Jim Ross: And you know whenever One Man Gang is involved, Ernie Ladd will be a factor! Let’s get to the ring. MATCH: Gary Young defeats Verlon Biggs with a spinebuster Jim Ross: I must say Gary, you have been quite impressive since arriving on the scene, but you also have rustled some feather including those of Terry Taylor who has challenged you to a match Monday night in the Sportatorium. Gary Young: It is hard to be as perfect as Gorgeous Gary is and not to rustle some feathers along the way. If Theresa Taylor dares to step into the ring with me, it is her funeral. It will be fun to return to me old stomping grounds up there in Dallas and make some new history. I mean I’m already famous there for beating every single one of those stupid Von Erich boys and now I will set the record for the fastest match in NWA history as it will take me about 5 seconds to pin Theresa. I must say the talent here in the NWA isn’t all that you guys make it out to be! As Gary Young walks away, Cowboy Bill Watts wonders if Gary Young’s head will even fit through the doors of the Sportatorium and let’s everyone know that sometimes when you talk so much nonsense, it just makes your opponent more focused and that might be the case in Dallas. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD DALLAS MATCH: Iceman Parsons defeats The Executioner with the Butt Bump The fans are dancing in their seats at the Lakefront Arena as We Are Family blares form the speakers. Iceman gives another charismatic interview, but it is interrupted by Jake “The Snake” Roberts who says Iceman should shut up and stop wasting everyone’s time. Iceman gets in his face but with the begging from Jim Ross, cooler heads prevail. Or so it seemed. When Iceman waked off to high five with some fans, he was attacked from behind with a sudden blow from the Snake. This first blow was followed up with a devastating DDT on the concrete. Terry Taylor, Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death rush out, but the Snake had already slithered away. Parsons seems to be convulsing on the arena floor as medical attention is being given. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD DALLAS As we come back from break, we see a video of the disgusting attack by Jake Roberts as both Jim Ross and Bill Watts express concern for Iceman but neither seem confident that he will be back anytime soon. MATCH: Ron Bass & Black Bart defeat Jonathan Boyd & Hercules Simms in a physical battle that saw Bass hit the Texas Gourdbuster for the win. The NWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions, Dusty Rhodes and Blackjack Mulligan, along with NWA World Champion, Magnum T.A. joined Jim Ross during this match with most of the discussion centering of the Russian problem here in the NWA. All three where real confident that they would not allow any of their titles to be taken back to Moscow even though Jim Ross did remind everyone that last week they had lost a 6 Man Match to Ivan, Nikita, and Kruscher when Nikita hit the Russian Sickle on T.A. At the end of the match, Black Bart and Ron Bass joined their friends at the podium. When the got there, the Dream had the mic… Dusty Rhodes: Let me tell ya brother…. Blackjack and The Dream are the two baddest cowboys ever to step foot in that ring and we aint never going to let them Russians get the best of us and you can take that to the bank jack! It seemed like the camera caught Bass and Bart with a quizzical look on their face when Dusty claimed him and Mulligan were the two baddest cowboys, but they seemed to let it go as the talk went back on the Russians. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD DALLAS Before our next bout, Ivan, Nikita and Kruscher Kruschev are at the podium to refute the interview by Dusty, Mulligan and T.A. Ivan Koloff: Magnum T.A…. I understand you want to look tough in front of da fans… you want to act like you are not afraid, but we all saw it last week. Nikita left you in da center of da ring. The ref count 1…2….3. and you still flat on your back. Nikita will soon be NWA World Champion. Dusty Rhodes… Da American Dream….you say you the baddest cowboy. I think you just bad. You inferior athlete to Russian athlete. Just look at you and then look at us. The Russian domination will begin in just a few minutes. Kruscher Kruschev will defeat Terry Gordy and take the North American title. Then we will defeat Ted Dibiase and Steve Williams for the Tag belts followed by da big one… The NWA World Title. Russian soon will own the NWA! MATCH: NWA NORTH AMERICAN TITLE Terry Gordy © vs Kruscher Kruchev It seems like Ivan’s plan of total domination by the Russians will have to be put on hold and it was his own fault. Ivan tried to pass a small chain to Kruscher but the ref caught it to prevent the use of the weapon. Kruscher lost focus for a second… WHAM… powerslam by Gordy and he gets the 3 count. Ivan is fuming and in a full argument with the ref. WHAM… the ref had dropped the small chain and even though the fans tried to warn Gordy who was making sure not to be attacked by either Ivan or Nikita, he never saw Michael Hayes hit the ring, pick and the chain and clobber Terry right in the head. The Russians head off as Michael Hayes goes for another chain shot but somehow it is blocked by Gordy. The crowd goes nuts as Michael Hayes’s eyes nearly pop out of his head. Gordy reaches for Hayes’ but he escapes through the ropes. Gordy is in pursuit but the two escape behind the curtain and we have no idea if Gordy ever caught Hayes. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD DALLAS MATCH: NWA MID-SOUTH TITLE Hacksaw Butch Reed vs One Man Gang Hacksaw started with the momentum but when he went for a body slam on the big man, Ernie Ladd was able to grab Reed’s leg causing Gang to fall on top of the champ. Somehow, Reed got a foot on the rope to avoid the 3 count, but Gang took the momentum and came so close to getting a pinfall after each power move. The crowd gets behind the champ and little by little, Reed is getting closer to wrestling from the top. Eventually we get to the two big men trading blows in the center of the ring. The crowd is going nuts. Ladd is on the apron… WHAM… Reed whips Gang to the ropes and he nailed Ladd. Ladd goes flying. WHAM… Football tackle by Reed on Gang who was looking out at his manager. 1…2…3!

WITH JIM ROSS & BILL WATTS MAY 8, 1986 WILL ROGERS CENTER FT. WORTH, TX It seems like I did somethng wrong and deleted my file, so here is a new one I started. I will repost my other stuff so I have a running history of the NWA when I get the chance. Jim Ross: Hey everybody! Welcome to another great episode of Mid-South Wrestling coming to you from the Will Rogers Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. I’m Jim Ross and it’s certainly my privilege to have NWA President, Cowboy Bill Watts as my partner on today’s show. Thank you, Bill, for being with us. Before we get to tonight’s show, we have a lot to talk about. Bill Watts: Very true Jim and a lot of it is happening out in in our newest territory, Western States Wrestling. Let’s show everyone what we are talking about. We see a short video clip that shows the closing moments of the Western States tag team tournament where Tribal Nation defeated the Moondogs. This is not necessarily the bit of information Mid-South fans found interesting. It was that Kevin Sullivan was managing the Moondogs. Next, we see Dory & Terry Funk defeat Kendo Nagasaki and Mr. Pogo and then walk out with the NWA titles that were stolen by Nagasaki and Pogo from Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death Steve Williams. Jim Ross: Not sure what to make of any of this information. I guess we know where Kevin Sullivan went when he left here but there was no sign of Leon White who Sullivan seemed to kidnap. Sullivan refused to discuss this with Steve Stacks. Bill Watts: And when did the Moondogs enter the picture. Where they the two men in hoods that helped Sullivan take Baby Bull away? Jim Ross: Your guess is as good as mine and hopefully, we will get some answers to that very soon. This is truly a very sick and sadistic individual we are dealing with and to tell you the truth, I very for the safety of Leon White. Now, Bill, we seem to have some sort of Beltgate going on here. First it was Zaibatsu taking the tag belts, then we saw Ernie Ladd and One Man Gang walk off with Butch Reed’s Mid-South title and now the Funks take the already stolen tag belts from Kendo Nagasaski and Mr. Pogo. Bill Watts: This entire situation is very upsetting to the entire NWA Board of Directors. As far as One Man Gang is concerned, he will return the belt tonight to Hacksaw Butch Reed or be suspended. The NWA World Tag Team titles is a little different. We are unsure of what the intentions are of the Funk Brothers. We believe that they just took the titles from Nagasaki and Pogo with the intentions of returning them to Dibiase and Doc but so far, our phone calls to Amarillo have not been returned. Jim Ross: As always Bill, things in the NWA are very interesting! Bill Watts: As is our show tonight. We will see Michael Hayes in action against Mike Graham. It will be Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs DJ Peterson. Terry Taylor will face Larry Cheatum. Harley Race will be taking on Larry Zbyszko in a Texas Streetfight and fans, hold on to your hats. The main event tonight will be “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Blackjack Mulligan and Magnum T.A. vs Ivan Koloff, Nikita Koloff and Kruscher Kruschev. Jim Ross: As we told ya, this is going to be a great night of wrestling here in Will Rogers Coliseum. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH: Terry Taylor defeats Larry Cheatum with the 5 Arm In a quick post-match interview, Terry Taylor is real upset at the arrogance and name calling last week by Gary Young. Taylor talks about this guy being around for like 5 minutes and having the nerve to call out people like himself, Magnum T.A and Hacksaw Butch Reed. He especially took objection to Young calling him Theresa last week and says that if Young has the guts to face him, he will kame sure that Young knows he has been in the ring with a real man. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN NEW ORLEANS MATCH: Michael Hayes defeats Mike Graham by submission with a sleeper? The match had started with Hayes draping a white towel over the ring post in his corner while the ref was checking Mike Graham’s boots for illegal objects. The towel went unnoticed by all until the fans figured it out in the end. Mike Graham pushed Hayes back into the corner and the ref stepped between them and pushed Graham back to ensure a clean break. Hayes rapped the towel around his hand and hid that hand behind his back. WHAM… Knee to the gut by Hayes. Michael Hayes goes behind Graham and catches him in a choke/sleeper with the towel sneaking out of his hand and placed right across the mouth of Graham. Graham goes out like a light and the ref gives the match to Hayes. Hayes quickly tosses the towel away to the floor while the ref checks on Graham. The fans are screaming about the foul play but he never catches on. In his post-match interview, Michael Hayes is far from the somber individual we saw last week when he was upset at the break-up of the Freebirds and his disappointment in Terry Gordy for going after single’s titles instead of putting the Freebirds first. Instead, we get the firery, Michael P.S. Hayes who is all about himself, kicking butt and taking names before partying all night down on Bad Street. He has his eyes set on showing everyone that he was the true leader of the Freebirds and that Gordy as just an hanger-on-er. He vows to take the North American Title from Gordy as soon as he is given a title shot. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN NEW ORLEANS Before the match, NWA Tag Team Champions, Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death stop by the interview area where they are happy that the Funks took their titles from Zaibatsu but they are not convinced if Dory and Terry will do the right things and return their belts. Dibiase reminds everyone that Terry has been a snake for most of his career and that he wouldn’t trust Dory either. Dr. Death says that he would have no problem going back out to Western States and facing the Funks and taking the titles back for themselves. Cowboy Bill Watts reminds Dibiase and Doc not to worry and that they are still recognized as the champs and that their titles will soon be returned. MATCH Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeats DJ Peterson with the DDT It took the Snake a while tonight to figure out how to deal with the power of Peterson but once he did, he was methodical as always until the sudden strike with the DDT for the win. Snake lets everyone know that while he lost the North American title that he will soon be back on top. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN NEW ORLEANS Before the match, NWA North American Champion Terry Gordy stops by the interview desk where he is focused on his match in New Orleans against Krusher Kruschev and laughs at the thought of Michael Hayes being the next North American Champion. MATCH: TEXAS STREET FIGHT Harley Race vs Larry Zbyszko Zbyszko is as sneaky as usual but this does not stop Race from carrying much of the action. The problem for Race was that this was a No DQ match and Tarzan Goto got involved in the action and the big 300 pounder came off the tope rope with a knee drop to the back. The ref didn’t bat an eyelash here as it was within the rules and so was the knun-chuk shot Zbyszko hit Race with. By the time Bruiser Brody got to the ring to aid Race, it was too late, and Larry got a big win over the his old tag team partner. This feud is so personal that before the night was over, it was announced that next week in New Orleans, it would be Race and Brody vs Goto and Zbyszko in a Falls Count Anywhere Bout. After the bout, Ernie Ladd and One Man Gang come to the interview area with the stolen Mid-South Title in hand. Watts threatens to suspend them if they don’t hand over the belt immediately. Ernie Ladd: Once again we see the double standard against Ernie Ladd and anyone associated with Ernie Ladd. First, you allow Kendo Nagasaki and Mr. Pogo to take the NWA World Tag Team Titles from Dibiase and Dr. Death and you do nothing. Then the Funk brothers tag those same belts and you do nothing. My man, One Man Gang, demolishes Hacksaw Butch Reed in a match. Beats Hacksaw Butch Reed and when I leave with a title we won fair and square, you threaten suspensions and fines. If this isn’t prove of the mistreatment I have faced all my career down here in the South then I don’t know what is. Bill Watts: One Man Gang defeated Hacksaw Butch Reed by count out. You know as well as I do, the title does not change hands on a count out and that doesn’t even begin to explain your interference in the match that caused Butch Reed to not be able to get back in the ring. Ernie Ladd: You better have prove before you accuse me of something that never happened. Bill Watts: Enough of your games. What’s it going to be…. The belt now or you and One Man Gang will be escorted from the Will Rogers Coliseum. Ladd reluctantly hands over the title and to his surprise, Watts agrees that One Man Gang has given Hacksaw Butch Reed some tough matches of late and grants him another title match for next week in New Orleans. COMMERCIAL + PROMOS FOR MONDAY’S CARD IN NEW ORLEANS MATCH American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, Blackjack Mulligan & Magnum T.A. vs “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff, “The Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff & Kruscher Kruschev. Unlike so many of these big matches that end in a wild brawl, this one has a clear cut winner. After a wild match that saw everyone get some shine, we see Magnum T.A. working over Kruschev. Somehow, Kruscher catches T.A. with a big bodyslam and then makes the tag to Nikita. WHAM…. Nikita runs at T.A. as he is just getting to his feet and connects with a nasty Russian Sickle. Rhodes and Mulligan hit the ring to break up the cover but they are meet with just enough resistance from Ivan and Kruschev that they can’t make the save. 1….2….3! Jim Ross: Folks… the only thing I can say is that goodness that was not a World Title Match. Nikita Koloff has just cleanly pinned the NWA World Champion. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. We are out of time for now. So long from the Pelican State. DARK MATCHES: Ron Bass & Black Bart defeated Hercules Simmes and The Executioner with the Texas Trash Compacter by Black Bart on Simmes. Brusier Brody defeated Iron Mike Sharpe with a Mauling Knee Lift.

WITH GORDON SOLIE JUNE 11, 1986 BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA With all the recent changes to the NWA, I thought that instead of writing a full show, I would update everyone on what is going on in Continental Championship Wrestling. 1. The Great American Bash 1986: This year, the three promotions in the NWA, Western States, Continental and Mid-South will all hoist an event between July 3rd and July 5th. All NWA champions will wrestle at each event which will really test their ability as they will have to travel from Denver to Pensacola to New Orleans in little under 48 hours and defend their titles against the best competition the NWA has to offer for three consecutive nights. The Continental Championship Wrestling event will be on Independence Day in Pensacola, Florida. 2. The Masked Superstar: With the help of Masked Superstar II, The Masked Superstar has risen to the top of the rankings in CCW. This 6’3, nearly 300 pounder seems unbeatable right now and has been given the NWA title shot at The Great American Bash against Magnum T.A. Even when it seems that the Superstar might fall in defeat, Superstar II causes some sort of chaos and The Masked Superstar comes out on top. The duo has even pulled the old switch-a-roo a few times which has left opponents devasted in the center of the ring. Magnum T.A. better have eyes in the back of his head. 3. The Turn of Tommy & Johnny Rich For the past few weeks, we have seen Tommy Gilbert come to the ring and confront Tommy and Johnny Rich. We later found out that Gilbert was asking the Rich cousins to represent Tennessee in the right way and stop the questionable tactics. Gilbert also asked for Tommy and Johnny to turn against the Studd Stable who were ruining the good name of Tennessee. At first, Tommy and Johnny scoffed at Gilbert. Last week, Tommy once again confronted Tommy who was being interviewed by Gordon Solie. The only thing different was that Gilbert brought Tommy’s mother, Peggy, with him. Peggy Rich pleaded with her son to do things the right way and show everyone that he was raised correctly. It seems like Tommy is a Mamma’s Boy as this scolding really got to Tommy. Tommy and Johnny have sense been on their best behavior. In fact, Tommy and Johnny have rushed in to make the save for various opponents, including Doug Gilbert, who were being attacked by the Tennessee Studd Stable (Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden) Golden and Fuller are fuming and are going around calling Tommy Rich, Peggy’s Baby Boy! The question around CCW is if Tommy and Johnny can be trusted. The appears to be YES! Recently, in an Elimination Tag Team Match where the winner got the NWA World Title Shot at the Great American Bash, Tommy sacrificed himself to help save Brad Armstrong. In the end, Fuller locked in the Fuller Leglock on Tommy and he was forced to submit. So it will be Ted Dibiase and Dr. Death (If they survive the first night of the Bash) vs Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden for the NWA World Title. The consolation prize we will have fan favorites, Bob and Brad Armstrong facing off against the newly turned fan favorites Tommy and Johhny Rich for the Continental Tag Team Title! 4. Who’s the Bad Guy… Dick Slater or Mr. Olympia Mr. Olympia’s behavior has been a little erratic as of late including a few no shows or late arrivals. Recently, one of these no shows left Dick Slater and Crusher Blackwell shorthanded in a 6 Man Match against the Superstars and the Assassin. After a pretty sound beating in what became a Handicap Match, Slater confronted Mr. Olympia. Mr. Olympia apologized for his actions but Slater was having nothing to do with it and CRACKED Mr. Olympia with a big right hand. The fans are divided on who to support in this one but both sides are looking forward to this Continental Heavyweight Title at the Bash. Not only is the title on the line but so is the identity of Mr. Olympia. When he demanded a title shot after Slater clocked him, Slater agreed but only if the Mask was on the line also. 5. The Southeastern Title This one is simple… Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley and Buddy Landel have been feuding all over Continental Championship Wrestling. While “The Nature Boy” has yet to win the belt, Continental President, Les Thatcher is tired off all of the outside shenanigans and lack of true wrestling so he has signed the contract for these two to meet one more time at the Bash. This time, it will be a Title and Contract on a Pole Match. That’s right, the Southeastern Title and a CCW Wrestling Contract will be a Top a Pole on one of the turnbuckles. Who ever wins, gets both the title and a JOB! 6. Lanny Poffo and Jimmy Garvin These two have been brawling all over the Gulf for over a month now. The feud has include Woman, Precious and Reggie Bennett. While many fans want to see an Intergender Match as they believe that Lanny Poffo would stand no chance against Reggie Bennet, this match has a twist that has everyone talking…. The winner of the match is the one who can put a Dress on Their Opponent. Oh the Bash has some crazy twists and turns. 7. Speaking of Reggie Bennett One of the biggest egos ever to arrive in CCW is Dangerous Danny Davis. He talks like he is God’s gift to professional wrestling. The only thing is that he has lost every match that he has been in. When he interrupted an interview with Reggie Bennett, Jimmy Garvin and Precious, he might have written his own death certificate. Instead of saying that he was sorry, Dangerous Danny went on to tell Bennett that this is a Man’s Sport and that she should get back in the Kitchen where she belonged. You could almost see the veins bulging out of Bennett’s neck as she grabbed Davis and body slammed him right on the concrete. When Davis came back the next week and said that the only reason that happened was that he wasn’t ready. Davis goes on to say that he was raised never to hit a woman but since Reggie Bennett wasn’t a woman, he would have no problem putting her in her place in a Match at the Great American Bash. As you expect, Bennett, with a huge smile on her face, accepted the challenge. 8. Sheik Adnan Al Kassie has arrived! This Iraqi Sheik has arrived with all of his Anti-American rhetoric and he has said that he has spent some of his millions on signing just the man who will destroy all Americans and that it is none other than the mist spraying giant, Killer Khan. Khan has destroyed all wrestler’s in his path so far but Pvt. Terry Daniels has vowed to stand up for Americans on Independence Day and take out Killer Khan. What a tall task that will be! Back to a regular show next week!

WITH GORDON SOLIE MAY 24, 1986 BOUTWELL AUDITORIUM BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA Gordon Solie: Thank you. Thank you so very much and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, the oldest and largest sanctioning body the world over. What a show we have instore for you today. It will be Lanny Poffo with Woman taking on Sweet Brown Sugar. Crusher Jerry Blackwell will be taking on the Masked Superstar. “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel will be taking on Norvell Austin with the winner getting a Southeastern Title shot next week in the Boutwell Auditorium against Wendell “Wild Cat” Cooley. We will also see a tornado match between the Tennessee Studd Stable against Bob and Brad Armstrong and if that was not enough, it will be Tommy “Wildfire” Rich taking on “The Rebel” Dick Slater for the Continental Heavyweight title. Speaking of Tommy Rich, I would like to bring out Tommy Gilbert for a moment. Tommy gets a nice ovation as Gordon brings us back to the end of last week where we saw Tommy Gilbert come to the ring and went right up to Tommy Rich after Tommy and Johnny defeated Bob & Brad Armstrong for the Continental Tag Team Title. Gordon said this was where the show ended and he and the fans would love to know what he said to Wildfire. Tommy Gilbert: To tell you the truth Gordon, I just said that I have known him a long, long time and reminded him that he is from Tennessee and that he should be doing the best for the people of that great state instead of taking some of the shortcuts he and his cousin have been taking. I also told him that I could use some help in dealing with Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden; two people who right now are making Tennessee look pretty bad. Last thing I said was that I’ve known his mama a long time and she didn’t raise him to be like this. Gordon Solie: Well Tommy, I’ve also known Tommy a long time and have never seen him like this. I hope you got through to him. Tommy Gilbert: Me too but to tell ya the truth, I’m unsure. Only time will tell but I could really uses him. My son, Doug, has a real future in this business but he’s just not quite ready to deal with the likes of Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden. As Gilbert walks off, Gordon Solie really hopes that Tommy Rich can see the errors of his ways. In a quick pre-match interview Lanny Poffo along with Woman stops by and is full of laughter at his match last week were he piledrove Lisa Moretti in the center of the ring. Gordon Solie knew this interview was a waste of time as Poffo would never see just how disgusting this attack was so Gordon gave on of his, “that be enough of that” comments and sent Poffo to the ring for his match with Sweet Brown Sugar. MATCH Lanny Poffo with Woman vs Sweet Brown Sugar Sweet Brown Sugar starts quickly using a combo of power and athleticism to keep Poffo off guard but eventually Woman is able to trip up Sugar and Poffo takes over. Near the end of the match, we see Woman slip Poffo a small rope which he wraps around Sugar’s neck and beigns to choke him without the ref seeing it. The crowd erupts as “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin rushes the ring. Poffo sees it and lets go of Sugar and confronts Garvin on the apron. The ref tries to keep the two apart as Woman grabs the leg of Garvin and yanks him off the apron. Garvin turns and gives Woman a look that seems to shake her to the core and she starts to retreat. While this was happening… Gordon Solie: What’s this? Is that a construction worker climbing over the steel girder? Not sure but that is one big man. Hold on…. Hold on just a minute. That’s not a man at all. That’s Reggie Bennett. Poffo turns around to Sugar as the ref is admonishing both Garvin and Woman. WHAM…. Bennett grabs Poffo like he is a sack of potatoes, walks around the ring with him and powerslams him to the ground. Then she scoops him up in a Torture Rack and we hear Poffo’s screams echoing thoughout the Boutwell Aud! The ref turns and is confused. He calls for the bell for the DQ win for Poffo but he is unsure what else to do against this 240 pound monster. Eventually Bennett drops Poffo to the ground and she and Jimmy Garvin celebrate in the ring. Woman sneaks in to see if she could comfort Poffo but as soon as Bennett makes eye contact with here, Woman hightails it all the way to the locker room. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR NEXT MONDAY’S CARD IN THE BOUTWELL MATCH: CRUSHER BLACKWELL VS MASKED SUPERSTAR with Superstar #2 Rugged, physical battle here that sees Blackwell connect with the Airplane Drop on The Masked Superstar but Superstar #2 is able to pull his partner out to the floor before the pin attempt. Superstar #2 tries some dirty tactics here as he enters the ring pretending to be #1. He goes to roll up Blackwell but Blackwell is 400+ pounds and doesn’t budge. WHAM… Airplane Drop on #2. Blackwell covers #2…… WHAM…. Top Rope Knee Drop by #1 The ref calls for the bell for another DQ win but the Superstars now go to work on Blackwell and he is left in a bad way when they are done. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR NEXT MONDAY’S CARD IN THE BOUTWELL Before our next bout… Ronnie P. Gossett: Oh Gordon… I’m back. Did you miss me? Gordon Solie: Ummm, what do you think? Ronnie P: That’ s what I thought. Now that I’m back. I got a straighten a few things out. First of all, who does Tommy Gilbert think he is. He was just out here slandering the Studd Stable; talking about how they are making the people of Tennessee look bad. Is he kidding. The only thing that makes the people of Tennessee look good is that Jack Daniels stuff they make up there. I’m sure you know about that Solie. Gordon Solie: Here we go again. Ronnie P: Gilbert is just another parent trying to make excuses when their children don’t turn out like they want. I mean have you seen that Doug Gilbert. He’s on his back more then a lady of the night if you know what I mean Gordon. Gordon Solie: I think you need to head to the ring. Your man Buddy Landel has a big match tonight. Ronnie P: This is just a steeping stone for Buddy. One week from tonight he will beat Wendell Cooley for that Southeastern Title! #1 CONTENDERS MATCH FOR THE SOUTHEASTERN TITLE Buddy Landel with Ronnie P. Gossett vs Norvell Austin Landell tried to attack before the bell but Austin was ready for his shenanigans. Austin takes control of this match from the get go and even though both have some technical ability, it is more of a brawl. Landel uses an eye rake to take control and then it is all Nature Boy with Landel getting the relatively clean win with the Cork Screw Elbow Drop. After the match is over, Landel decides to inflict more punishment on Austin as he locked in the Figure 4. The ref and Solie are pleading with him to release the hold but he just amps up the pressure. The crowd explodes as Wendell Cooley hits the ring and he is all over Landel. Gossett comes to rescue his man. WHAM… Cooley clobbers Gossett and goes back to work on Landel. Somehow Landel is able to escape as Wendell helps his friend, Norvell Austin back to locker room. As we go to break, Solie really hypes up next week’s Southeastern Title match between Cooley and Landel. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR NEXT MONDAY’S CARD IN THE BOUTWELL TEXAS TORNADO MATCH Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden with Ronnie P. Gossett vs Bob & Brad Armstrong All 4 men in the ring for the entire time means complete chaos here and that is exactly what we get. Ronnie P. tried to interfere, but Tommy Gilbert rushed down to ringside to prevent any of his dirty tactics. This distraction is all that “Bullet” Bon needed to hit the Georgia Jawbreaker on Golden for the win. COMMERCIAL BREAK + PROMOS FOR NEXT MONDAY’S CARD IN THE BOUTWELL CONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH Dick Slater © vs Tommy “Wildfire” Rich Last week we saw referee Mac Murray with a fast count that gave Tommy and Johnny Rich the win over the Armstrongs for the Continental Tag Team Title. This week, he is once again in charge of another title bout. Gordon Solie keeps a close eye throughout the bout and admits that he sees no shenanigans and that maybe it was just a blunder by Murray. The bout, as most due here in Continental Championship Wrestling, soon lost all sense of a wrestling match and took on the appearance of a barroom brawl. Slater was completely fine with this and seemed to be getting the better of the action. Rich grabbed Slater by the trunks and tossed him through the middle ropes and followed him out. The brawl continues and like Slater does, he takes it to the next level in a fight and grabs a chair. WHAM! From behind comes Johnny Rich attacks Slater. Ref Mac Murray is back on his game and calls for the bell! Here comes Crusher Blackwell! The Rich cousins-Slater and Blackwell are brawling all over the arena. Gordon Solie: Fans, we are out of time. So long from the Heart of Dixie. COMING SOON:
