  1. ICW dropped Foley (sent to Memphis), so that brings me to 3 managers at present. I do have a question about someone ... Chick Donovan's wife Pebbles. Does anyone know when she was his valet?
  2. ICW sends JR Foley to Memphis.
  3. Under this system, I will pass but wouldn't it make more sense to do a random draw or base the draw on lottery numbers or something? With this system, no one will make trades for fear of losing their "spot" whereas a random draw can create a flurry of activity before the draft and possibly during the year trading for potential futures.
  4. It's up there. 32 and 2.
  5. 3 people voted for no roster cap? HAHAHAHAHA!
  6. I guess the easiest way I can explain what "expansion" means is looking at the tiered system of the Territories. You had the big ones with JCP, WWF, and AWA. They were just a level up from some of the smaller territories that ran. Look at something like a Memphis, ICW, WWA, All Star, Portland, and Central States. These promotions, while they had their finer points were smaller territories that ran in their areas and did it well. I do like the idea of keeping everything under a umbrella, but to keep everyone at the same level doesn't seem right. I am not proposing a WWF take over and death of territories, but like the system worked out in real life, there were some territories bigger than others. Some territories had bigger stars than others. Some territories ran more shows that others. Some territories were just bigger than others. That is just my push is to allow that to happen organically, rather than putting barriers on that. No need for a national or global style promotion in this world we've created, simply some promotions being bigger than others. I know there is resistance to this, it is simply an opinion. The biggest point to be made out of all this is that some opinions aren't welcomed, which kind of stinks. So it is what it is. Everyone should have an opinion but at the same time there have to be rules in place because it is a league made up of more than one person and there has to be a semblance of fairness. Giving you a bigger roster because you want to "grow organically" doesn't work in a "game setting" because everyone will want the even playing field. I may not have the stars you have but I shouldn't be penalized with a smaller roster and have it explained to me that you can be bigger promotion because you got a big one. There also has to be something said for people to stock their rosters with balanced rosters so you don't get into situations of superstar rosters. That, too, will become a problem.
  7. The ideal is to have full territories with great writers that participate on a regular basis but that isn't reality. The reality is that people sign up with great plans and ideas but for one reason or another don't go through with them. This is a participatory game/writing exercise that requires just that ... if at a certain point or time, individuals are unable to meet the leagues rules/expectations they should forfeit their rosters. You'll go through ebbs and flows of writers coming and going which will be both fun and frustrating.
  8. I have a question ... expansion into what? Is this supposed to work as the territorial system with each promotion running a certain area or is this something more? To me, it looks like that was what was originally mapped out. Is there something more that I am missing? Are there no rules in place already laying out how this all works? Is there one person in charge who had laid the groundwork. If no one is in charge and everyone gets an equal say, nothing will ever get done and any time something out of the ordinary pops up, you'll be back in this situation. Too many chiefs, not enough indians. If you want to look at different systems, look at NWA-Revived, Wrestling Classics or Atomic Giants and how they do things.
  9. You have a good point as to what would constitute the "Top 5" of a promotion being subjective and as I have found out firsthand in my short time here what each of you place on your pieces as their value ranges widely though I think that in this position, it would be the 5 guys who would be picked purely on name recognition and future value because those 5 pieces might be the pieces that will be used as trade bait to shape their promotion to fit their writing needs based on whatever their criteria might be - for some it might be based purely on the geographical considerations, others might just like to hoard as many "Stars" as possible, others might take a totally different approach. I do know that unless there are some "sparkly objects" to attract new writers, you might be hard pressed to bring in new people or at least the ability to be attractive certainly lessens. Now, the question becomes ... how do you do that? Asking 5 persons that question, you'll probably get 5 different answers. Here is my take on it ... 1. Reduce the roster sizes - a hard limit of 32 to 30 guys plus 2 manager types increases the Free Agent pool. 2. Increase the Free Agent pool. 3. Offer Parity Drafts once, twice, three times a year. 4. Do not consolidate territories - allow them to go "dark" if people drop out. Those will be the promotions you will be hoping to fill with new writers. You can ALWAYS offer them up to current writers in case they would like to take over a vacated area and drop their own. In Dawho's case, what's done is done - you consolidated an area, now move forward. As far as a shot in the arm for your roster - if you carry nearly 40 guys on your roster and need a shot in the arm - something is wrong, especially if a trade or the amount of borrowing being done here already isn't enough. Just my two cents.
  10. Sometimes shit happens and life gets in the way of our fun, forcing us to take a break but if you know something is coming, just need a break or don't feel like writing for a bit ... can't you just let the powers that be know? That isn't too hard. If they drop off the face of the Earth, don't drop by the board, don't leave comments or don't participate in any way ... drop them. Of course, a message from whoever is in charge to see if they are still in is okay but it should not be up to the board members to beg writers to write. We are all here because we want to be. As far as what to do with territories ... you want to leave something open so that you might entice new writers. You also don't want all the best available talent drafted up in dispersal drafts until there is nothing good left for potential new writers to choose from. One option might be to take the top 5 guys of a roster and leave them in the territory as untouchable. An expansion of the free agent list might be good, too as well as toning down the roster sizes a bit. Looking over the rosters, there are some bloated ones. Just my two cents.
  11. ICW sends Bill Howard to Southwest Championship Wrestling
  12. Nothing wrong with a streamlined version. Might get you more looks (and hopefully comments). Losing interest is a killer as it becomes a chore but I hope you stick with it. Good stuff going on here with a very solid roster to work with.
  13. I didn't think it was but I will do what I can to make sure you know what deals I've made. I can understand the amount of work needed to keep all the rosters up to date.
  14. ICW 1, Sends Stan Stasiak to the AWA for Bill Cody. 2. Sends Mike Graham to Memphis for Sonny King. 3. Sends Carl Fergie to Southwest for Juan Reynosa.
  15. I can understand that. Once I have all my trades in place, I will make a list of my current roster as well as who I sent elsewhere.
  16. Following ICW's dark days, I am planning on some changes in taking it over and in doing so, the following are up for trade. I have a list of wants from just about everyone involved, so I am sure we can work out some kind of deal for anyone involved. Jim Cornette Arn Anderson Jimmy Valiant Len Denton (Grappler #1) Mike Graham David Sammartino Gene Anderson Eddie Hogan (Dizzy Boulder, Brutus Beefcake, Brother Bruti, The Butcher, The Man with No Name, The Zodiac, The Booty Man, The Disciple) Brett Hart (Barry Horowitz) The Samoans (Tapu & Tio) Stan Stasiak Bill Howard Leroy Redbone Don Anderson JR Foley Hans Schroeder The Alaskan Carl Fergie Johnny Valiant One deal of note, the loan of Tom Lintz from SWCW is longer in place. He returns immediately.

I was waiting to see what it was that Kevinmcfl was talking about before saying anything. If someone was here before me wanted it, I didn't want to step on any toes. If it was something else altogether, then I'll take over ICW.

Nope, jobbers and midcarders are my cup of tea. The listing of the ICW roster as posted isn't bad at all and if trades are allowed, I can tweak to my heart's content. Not much by way of a free agent list. "The Travelling Attractions" are nice - maybe a listing for each and their dates for when and where?

One of the problems I've run into is finding things - rules, available free agents, territories, etc. Things are not in a single place to make it easier on new people looking in.

What territories are open? I've been here for a couple of days and am trying to sort out your rules.
  22. I enjoyed this card. You did well with the characterization of everyone involved and I could see many of them in my head speaking their parts, especially Steve Stack. Good job there. TV did well to promote the Hemisphere show on Sunday with a line-up that has quite a bit of story behind it. How long is your TV? There was the mention of an hour by Tully but I have to think it was longer than that - even with 4 short matches, with all the people that got air time, it sure seemed longer than an hour.
  23. Super Stan here. Took a few days but I finally got the validation.
