We recap all the great things that happened last week and find out this week is going to be a barn burner as well with DUSTY AND THE FABS vs. THE STUD STABLE as the the main event!! WOW!! There's no way that 9 year old me in '86 is leaving the tv with that main event coming up! Tony St. Clair continues to be unstoppable as the TV champ....you have to wonder if ANYONE is going to be able to take it away from him! Iaukea's monsters is pretty accurate but if anybody can hang with these guys it's the Stomper! It's great seeing him here in this role! Very cool to see the 'Superstar' coming "home" to where he did the biggest things of his career to challenge Funk for the World Championship! Haha, Funk makes sure he doesn't forget anybody in his promo! Great stuff! On paper, Spoiler/Rocky vs. Super D/Morrow looks like the oddest tag team match ever, but with everything that's been happening it makes perfect sense.....looking forward to it! A tag team title shot upcoming at the big event AND they manage to sing 'We Are Family' on the air....a pretty stellar week for the Vin Man and company! Whoa!! The long awaited debut of the new King is going to happen on the Beauty Shop next week!! Suck on that, Alvin!! Holy crap, Ox Baker has put together Nord/Morgan as the Beasts of Burden with himself as their manager! ALL the tag teams in the USWA better be on high alert with this two running rampant! Curt Hennig is back!! and already has heat with the "Great Gagne".....I have to admit this heel Great Gagne gimmick is a guilty pleasure of mine....I know in reality Greg Gagne is not highly regarded by many fans but this is just fun stuff...then thrown in the "Duker" and it's a highlight for me each week. Much like the Continental main event this week....there's just too much bad blood for this to get settled....let's see what happens in Memphis! Harts Afire once again make short work of some locals....I predict these guys will work their way up the card quite quickly Stomper gets the win in the midst of the chaos but something is going to have to give soon.....I see a cage in their future! My guy 'Champagne' Gerry gets the pin over Johnson in a wild tag match....I think he's still looking to pair that Mid America title with the Billionaires title! The Fabs vs. the Stud Stable seems to be another match that a conventional just can't seem to hold....looking forward to seeing where this leads! To no one's surprise.....the rest of the gang gets involved with Carlos vs. Kamala.....I feel like this will all end in a very bloody conclusion! Thankfully, The Bruise Brothers managed to retain the tag titles.....one has to wonder where the Karachi Vice will go from here after a dominate run as tag champs. Awesome Bullrope Match sees Dusty get the win when he manages to get the Stud one on one! A solid effort from the Superstar but the Funker retains...I wonder if the Dream is going to be looking for another shot soon?

What an amazing way to kick off the first episode of Texas All Star Wrestling on the USA Network with a TV title change as "Wild" Bill Irwin wins the title making the Wild Bunch even that much more important after the big tournament win for Bart/Bass recently....and Adias manages to stay over in the process. Well done! I agree that Dusek is well played here as he's a believable authority figure, and even though he's going back on his previous ruling, it's clear that Brooks has provoked him and gotten under his skin and I don't think the fans will mind at all...especially if it goes the Wild Bunch's way tonight. Luscious tease continues....(Damn you and Spaldoni! next week is going to be a big week for Texas All Star and USWA...after all this buildup you guys better deliver lol) The transformation of Jose Estrada to 'El Jefe' has been so entertaining to watch....I can't wait to see him get his shot at Casey! Ah, only in the 80's could the line about Jeff Gaylord not get Estrada "cancelled" and taken off television....a simpler time. Another great promo! I enjoy the fact you think to include the small details that help get folks like each one of the Cartel staring down Lowrance as they walk away, I honestly often overlook these sort of things...and really need to work on that. Johnny Mantell gets a nice win and as if being partners with the Texas champ isn't a nice enough rub, Mantell has a win over the World Champion in his back pocket to cash in at some point, I look forward to them meeting again. I love that the Rich Cousins acknowledge their brief stop over in the USWA and use that to give their motivation to show up here in Texas, and it's also an example of something we'll all have to consider going forward now that we're all "on the USA Network", we sorta have to acknowledge people's history when they go from one of our three territories to the other...where that wasn't really the case before....not an issue, just something I just realized will have to be a consideration. Goddammit...Al Madril delivers as always....the black eye joke is a classic and I could see Madril getting away with this.....not to mention I love him taking credit for getting Texas All Star getting the gig on USA Network! Ron Slinker is perfect for this role, his total lack of personality and charisma plays right into Al's act...I love it! Great interaction with Madril and Casey to set up a match with Estrada, but I love Madril throwing up the past at Sunshine and of course Sunshine responds in the only way Sunshine would....Slinker interjecting to stop the 2nd slap is perfect and Madril's reaction of never selling anything and just smiling has to be driving the fans absolutely nuts! Another homerun! Another great showing for the Wild Bunch in the main event and the moment would knew had to be coming finally happens as Miller has enough of Brooks and nails him....leading to a loss and it looks like the "Killer Gang" may finally be done here in Texas All Star. Great show my friend! Can't wait to see what Luscious is all about next week!!

Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #5 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday February 27, 1986 From: Birmingham, Alabama Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Continental wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from throughout the Continental United States sanctioned by the USWA", THE CAMERA PANS THE ARENA TO SHOW A STEEL CAGE AROUND THE RING WITH HERCULES AYALA STANDING INSIDE, we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, I’m Charlie Platt along with Ronnie P. Gossett, and Ronnie….do you know what's going on? Why is there a cage around the ring…and why is Hercules Ayala in the cage?" RPG: "I don't….but I know someone who does…" (with that, Chicky Starr comes out) Starr: "Hola, Senor' Gossett. I wanna invite 'Mr. Money' to come out right now." (After a few moments, Carl Fergie is lead out by Slick) Fergie: "What's going on Chicky? I heard Bad News is here and I haven't been able to find you." Starr: "Sorry bout that….I was busy meeting with Les Thatcher along with a translator who was going over the contract you signed last week." (Les Thatcher comes out) Thatcher: "Carl, is that your signature?" Fergie: "Yes it is." Thatcher: "Do you have any idea what you've signed?" Fergie: "Of course, Hercules Ayala and Chicky are going to be my bodyguards to protect me from that psycho, Bad News Allen." Thatcher: "No Fergie, I'm afraid that's not what you signed." Fergie: "What? Then what the hell did I sign??" Thatcher: "You signed for a Steel Cage Match against Hercules Ayala." Fergie: "WHAT??" Thatcher: "Oh…it gets better. A Steel Cage Match where if you lose, Chicky Starr wins you ENTIRE fortune AND you have to leave Continental! However If you somehow win, you keep the money….but you STILL leave Continental." Fergie: "That’s not what I agreed to!! Slick, you told me to sign the damn thing….FIX THIS!" Slick: (Chicky hands Slick an envelope) "Sorry Cuz, I'm afraid you're on your own. Stick and move, you'll be fine." (Slick turns and leaves) Fergie: "This can't be legal….I'm not doing it….NO ONE can make me do it!!" (At that moment Bad News Allen comes out, Chicky hands Bad News an envelope and he then chases Fergie down to ringside, in an attempt to get away from Bad News, Fergie climbs the cage and into the waiting…Hercules Ayala) ================== MATCH #1: STEEL CAGE MATCH If Ayala wins, Chicky Starr gets ALL of Fergie's money AND Fergie leaves CCW If Fergie wins….he keeps ALL of his money, but still leaves CCW Hercules Ayala w/Chicky Starr vs. "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie This is EXACTLY what you think it would it to be…..a brutal beating of poor Carl Fergie that goes on for several minutes, Ayala rams his face repeatedly into the cage until Fergie is a bloody mess. Eventually, Ayala mercifully puts Fergie in an over the shoulder backbreaker allowing Fergie to submit and end this massacre. Winner: Hercules Ayala ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== MATCH #2: Nick Bockwinkel defeated Ray Purchase by submission with a figure four (Post match- Charlie Platt invites Nick Bockwinkel over to the desk on his way back to the dressing room) Platt: "Nick, I know we spoke to you in Dallas, but congrats on your in ring debut here in Continental and tomorrow is the big day as you'll face off with Tommy Rich in the opening round of the tournament." Bockwinkel: "I'm looking forward to competing with Mr. Rich, I know he's certainly not a well liked individual these days but all his opinions aside, he's a skilled wrestler and a former World Champion in his own right." Platt: That is very true, there's some very strong competitors in this tournament including former NWA World Champion Dory Funk Jr, Blackjack Mulligan, Bruiser Brody, Mr. Olympia, Bob Armstrong, Bad News Allen, and the list goes on…is there anyone in particular you hope to cross paths with…or not cross paths with?" Bockwinkel: "I'm game for any challenge, I'm focused on my goal of becoming the USWA World Champion, and the first step down that path is to win this tournament….the next step on that path is to defeat Buddy Landel to become the Continental Champion." (Gossett interjects) Gossett: "Hold on pal, you better not make the mistake of looking past Tommy Rich in the first round…and if you somehow beat Tommy Rich…and you then somehow make it through this tournament….there's no chance in the world that you will beat the Nature Boy!" Bockwinkel: "First of all, Mr. Platt….I don't appreciate this portly gentleman interrupting our conversation." Gossett: "Who the hell are you calling portly?" Bockwinkel: "Sir, if you have a mirror in your home, you have to know how rotund you are….now, I understand you can't just look down and see on account of the number of chins that you have blocking your view but surely at some point you've waddled your way in front of a mirror." (Buddy Landel comes storming out) Landel: "Look here paw-paw, you don't come out here insulting my good friend, Ronnie P. Gossett." Bockwinkel: "That's why I called him 'portly', I thought that's what the 'P' stood for." Landel: "Well, the old man's got jokes huh? I'll tell you the real joke is that you think your old butt has a chance in hell of winning this tournament…..much less a chance of beating me if you somehow did….then if you somehow cheated or got lucky and beat me…there's no chance you'd survive a match with Terry Funk!" Bockwinkel: "First of all Mr. Landel, I want to make it abundantly clear that I would never try to out joke a man such as yourself, obviously anyone who has the nerve to claim he's the 'Real Nature Boy' when Buddy Rogers and Ric Flair still exist has a much better sense of humor than an 'old man' like me. As far as my chances in this tournament, I'd say they're better than average. My chances of beating Terry Funk, that remains to be seen. However, my chances of beating you….well, I have no doubt that I could get the better of a wannabe 'Nature Boy' who hangs out with a fat blowhard who wouldn't know a great wrestler if he came across this desk and slapped the twinkies out of his mouth!" (with that security and Les Thatcher run out and get between Landel/Bockwinkel) Platt: "This is getting out of hand, let's go to Jed Pedicino in the Event Center!" ===================== (Joe Pedicino in the Continental Event Center runs down tomorrow's tournament) Continental Championship Wrestling Continental Championship Tournament VFW Fairgrounds Carrollton, GA. Sunday February 28, 1986 Bell Time: 4pm Round 1: Dory Funk Jr. vs. Terry Taylor Ronnie Garvin vs. Lord Jonathan Boyd Blackjack Mulligan vs. Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink Bruiser Brody vs. Hercules Ayala w/Chicky Starr Nick Bockwinkel vs. Tommy "Wildfire" Rich "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda vs. Tatsumi "the Dragon" Fujinami "Maniac" Matt Borne w/Luscious Johnny V. vs. Mr. Olympia "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. Bad News Allen Bonus: Non-Tournament Tag Team Match Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley vs. Johnny/Davey Rich Pedicino: "What a line up that is and before we wrap this up I have some huge news to announce, it was announced earlier in the week that Texas All-Star Wrestling will now be airing on the USA Network on Saturdays at noon as a part of a new sports block, well it's my privielage to announce that Continental Championship Wrestling will be airing on the USA Network at 1pm immediately following Texas All-Star starting next Saturday!" ===================== MATCH #3: Ronnie Garvin pinned Rusty Jones after the 'knock out punch' In his post match promo, Ronnie Garvin says he's been working hard to rehab his injured knee and that tomorrow's tournament is a chance to make up for the time he's lost due to injury and to fast track himself to the top of Continental by becoming the champion! ===================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ===================== (Cut to the interview area where Joe Pedicino is joined by The Richs) Pedicino: "Thanks for joining me guys, I know the fans have wanted to hear what you have to say about that the humiliating loss you suffered down in Texas." Johnny: "Humiliating loss? What humiliating loss?" Pedicino: "When after all the awful things you said about Texas and the Von Erichs, The Wild Bunch beat you." Tommy: "Are you kidding me right now, boy? Why should we feel humiliated about anything that happened in Texas? We went down there and beat everybody they put in front of us……and they knew damn good and well that Black Bart and Ron Bass, The Sissy Bunch couldn't beat us…so what did they do? They flew the stinkin' Von Erichs in from New York to help 'em! So, fat boy you mean to tell me that Johnny and I should feel humilated that it took FIVE Texans to beat us?? Watch the damn tape, there's no disputing it! They cheated us and it took five of them to do it! We didn't get beat….we got screwed! We got bamboozled! We got the shaft and no, we aren't ashamed or humiliated…if anything we're vindicated and it just proves they know for a fact that TWO Texans can't beat TWO good ol' boys from Tennessee so they had to stack the deck and cheat…case closed….I don't want to hear another word about Texas, it can fall off into the Gulf of Mexico or hell as far we're concerned!" Johnny: "Damn right! Let's talk about the fact that Tommy is going to be in that tournament tomorrow in Georgia and when it's all said and done, we'll not only be the Continental Tag Champs, but he'll be the Continental Heavyweight Champ too…..then Davey can win that Junior title and we'll have ALL the belts!" Pedicino: "Yeah, we're getting to that….so Tommy, you've got to face one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, the former AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel in the first round." Tommy: "So what? You think I care that he was AWA World Champion? Whose the AWA World Champion now? Nobody, cuz it don't exist no more! I was a former NWA World Champion….the NWA still exists so that gives me the edge! Not to mention that Bockwinkel is a bit 'long in the tooth' as they say." Davey: "He has long teeth?" Johnny: "It means he's old." Tommy: "I'm gonna walk right through that tournament just like we did in that place we shall not speak of anymore….SOMEBODY SAY SUMTHIN' BOUT THA CONTINENTAL CHAMP!! now excuse us, Tubby….I'm going to go show these people what to expect tomorrow about Nick Bockwinkel." ----------------------------------- MATCH #4: Tommy "Wildfire" Rich w/Johnny & Davey Rich pinned Randy Watson with the 'Thesz Press' RPG: "Great win for Tommy Rich, just like the one he's going to get over that old fart, Nick Bockwinkel tomorrow! Plus, everything he said about what happened in Dallas is true, you can't dispute any of it, Platt!" Platt: "Well…somewhat." RPG: "Which part wasn't true?" Platt: "Let's go to the ring to Downtown Bruno and his new tag team." ====================== (Downtown Bruno is in the ring with Tony Anthony, newcomer Doug Gilbert, and the Mighty Goliath) Bruno: "Last week I introduced you to the biggest, baddest man in wrestling, the Mighty Goliath! Now, I want to introduce you to the team who would have won that Von Erich tournament if I had put them together sooner, The Dirty White Boys…Tony Anthony and from the world famous Gilbert wrestling family, Doug Gilbert! So, bring those goofy Armstrongs out here cause right now we're going to beat them like a drum, cuz it's like Mama says, it beez that way sometimes!" ------------------------------------ MATCH #5: Scott/Steve Armstrong defeated The Dirty White Boys (Tony Anthony/Doug Gilbert) w/Downtown Bruno & Goliath when Steve pinned Doug Gilbert after a dropkick off the top rope As the Armstrongs are having their hands raised, the Mighty Goliath and Tony Anthony blast them from behind! Goliath gives Scott Armstrong a big splash, he's about to give Steve one when Bob and Brad Armstrong along with Brickhouse Brown and Norvell Austin all hit the ring to make the save! ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= MATCH #6: IWGP Heavyweight Championship Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami pinned Akio Sato with a 'Dragon Suplex' ======================= PROMO from "Bullet" Bob Armstrong talking about tomorrow's tournament, he says he's looking to get some revenge on Bad News Allen in the first round and then he hopes to encounter Dory Funk Jr at some point in the tournament as well, and then he'll be more than happy to face 'big mouth' Buddy Landel to become the Continental Heavyweight Champion! -------------------------------------- MATCH #7: MAIN EVENT Bruiser Brody/Mr. Olympia vs. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel/"Maniac" Matt Borne w/"Luscious" Johnny V. As Brody/Olympia are making their way down the aisle, they are jumped from behind by Eric Embry and Steve Regal….they begin to fight them off but Landel and Borne quickly join them and it's four on two at ringside…..The Nightmares run down to help, but The Moondogs and Killer Khan join the fray, followed by the Armstrongs…. Platt: "This is completely out of hand, let's take a commercial break and see if we can restore some order and try to get this match in the ring in the short amount of time we have remaining this week." ======================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================== (we return from the break to the desk with Charlie Platt & Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Fans, we apologize but we were unable to restore order to the point that we can get this week's main event tag team match in the ring, Brody and Olympia were jumped by Embry and Regal and all hell broke loose from there." (George Barnes comes storming in and grabs the mic from Gossett) Barnes: "Charlie Platt, you listen to me and listen good….you tell Les Thatcher that I want that little snot nosed punk Jeff Jarrett in the ring….anytime, anywhere! He cost me that match last week and if he thinks he's going to get away with that, he's bloody crazy! So either give me a match with him….or I'll get my hands on him wherever I can, whether it's in a hotel lobby, a Waffle House, or in a parking lot! That bloody no good Yank is going to regret ever stepping foot in a wrestling ring! Sign it Thatcher, make it happen!" Platt: "There you hear it from George Barnes, we'll see what happens with that. Let me remind you once again that starting next Saturday we will be airing at 1pm on the USA Network following Texas All-Star Wrestling and don't forget tomorrow in Carrollton, Georgia…the Continental Heavyweight Title tournament, also next week we'll have news about the upcoming Corvette Key on a Pole Battle Royal where the first man to climb the pole and retrieve the key, will win a brand new corvette!" RPG: "A brand new Corvette? Heck, I may have to enter that! Also, I just want to say that I hope George Barnes gets his hands on that little weasel Jeff Jarrett after that stunt he pulled last week! Also, I confirmed during the last commercial break that Chicky Starr has granted me an exclusive interview next week where he says he will introduce me to his brand new 'Starr Corporation' which he says is now funded by 'a generous grant from the now Mr No-Money Carl Fergie'….and last but not least…I'm happy that the USA Network was so impressed with my performance at the David Von Erich Memorial show that they decided to give us a spot on the Network." Platt: "I'm not sure that's what made the decision for them, but sure…whatever gets you through the day. So, please join us next week for another exciting program and hopefully we can bring you that tag team match in the future, but we do know for sure that next week we'll be seeing a 'Nightmare Cage Match between The Nightmares and The Moondogs, we'll also see the television debut of Jeff Jarrett in the ring, as well as that Continental Championship match between "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel and the winner of tomorrow's tournament…. so for Ronnie P. Gossett, I'm Charlie Platt, we'll see you next week for more Continental Championship Wrestling!" © 1986 Continental Championship Wrestling

Wow, Tully Blanchard has taken out Dick Slater! That's big! Hate to see Slater out of the picture, but I'm excited to see Rocky Johnson vs. Morrow for the Mid America title! As if things weren't bad enough between the Fabs and the Stud Stable, now Fuller and Golden cost Lane/Keirn their big shot at the USWA tag team titles! I can't wait to see what the Fabs do for revenge! What's more exciting than a match with A mystery partner??? A match with 2 mystery partners....can't wait to see who each side brings! Curt Hennig returns next week!! Also, we have to wait one more week to find out who the new King is! So much suspense in the USWA right now! I've enjoyed this slow transformation of Jesse Barr here.....regardless of whether you go all the way with the Jimmy Jack Funk name, I liked that look for Barr and this has been a great way to get there. AWESOME Beauty Shop segment! I've never been a fan of Greg Gagne but I've enjoyed his heel run here in the USWA but this outing in particular may be my favorite thing yet. "The Great Gagne", I love him going so far as to knock his father saying he's done more than any other Gagne....lol. I also love that as soon as his "friends" go by the wayside here he immediately replaces them. This time he's got "The Duker" and the "Harts Afire"....this should be a lot of fun! Super D w/Paul Jones vs. Spoiler has been built up nicely, looking forward to seeing them square off in a match Fuller vs. Dusty! My ticket is purchased! What a way to end the tv show with the Bruise Brothers winning the USWA World tag team titles! They currently have all the tag team gold! These guys are OVER!! Such an awesome job building them up as a tag team! Let's hit the road to Cook Convention Center! The Harts put on a clinic with some locals and show what they're bringing to the table! Looks like the 'Lone Wolf' has taken out Mike George.....hopefully. Super D gets the win over the Spoiler thanks to Paul Jones.....this can't be over The Fabs get a win over the Stable....but much like the previous match, I just don't think we've seen the end of this. Kamala and Lewin bring Kendo Nagasaki as their partner.....but I have to say, I was both shocked and happy to see Colon and Strong bring THE STOMPER as their partner....if you're fighting monsters....that's exactly what you need to is a monster! Awesome stuff! The Tennessee Stud gets a HUGE win over the American Dream thanks to the cowbell (well, plus Rob and Jimmy) After crushing the fans hopes with a Ron Fuller victory over Dusty Rhodes....what better way to send everyone home happy than Rocky Johnson victory for the Mid America title over the Champagne man! Great stuff as always Spaldoni!

Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #4 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday February 20, 1986 From: Pensacola, Florida Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling coming to you from beautiful Pensacola, Florida…..I'm your host Charlie Platt and with me as always is my co-host Ronnie P. Gossett, Ronnie…what a weekend it was in Dallas, last week." RPG: "Well, it was a pretty great weekend until it took FOUR men to beat Johnny and Tommy Rich….it was the biggest travesty in the history of wrestling and I hope it never gets mentioned on this program again!" Platt: "I'm not sure if that will be the case, however right now let's talk about what's happening on this week's show, we're going to see 'Maniac' Matt Borne in singles action for the first time here, we'll also see Terry Taylor in the ring as well as the television debut of 'White Lightning' Tim Horner." RPG: "More importantly, George Barnes is going to murder Bill Dundee in a Southern Streetfight tonight!" Platt: "We'll see about that, also in our main event tonight we'll see Blackjack Mulligan and Kendall Windham taking on the Moondogs with Sir Oliver Humperdink, but right now Les Thatcher is joining us with some exciting news." (Les Thatcher enters) Thatcher: "Thank you Charlie, I know we announced some things about the championships here in Continental recently, however due to some new opportunities that have to come to light this week stemming from last weekend's huge event, there's been some changes to those plans. First of all, we are retiring the Gulf Coast Championship effective immediately, Carl Fergie has been asked to surrender the belt by the end of this program. Second, the tournament to crown a Continental Champion will now be a sixteen man tournament that will take place on Sunday February 28th in Carrollton, Georgia at the Fairgrounds. However, the winner of that tournament will not be the champion, the winner of that tournament will face 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel here on television on Saturday March 6th to crown the Continental Heavyweight Champion as we are also retiring the Twin States Championship effectively immediately as well. As for the Junior Heavyweight Championship, it's now back to being the United States Junior Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Chicky Starr. The Twin States Tag Team Champions, Johnny and Tommy Rich are now the recognized Continental Tag Team Champions as the Twin States Tag Team titles have been retired as well. We'll have a very exciting announcement as it pertains to this television show right here next week. Also, next week our main event will be a tag team match as Mr. Olympia will team with Bruiser Brody to take on 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel and 'Maniac' Matt Borne! Also, stay tuned after the main event as we'll rundown all the first round tournament matches for Carrollton." Platt: "Wow, that's a lot to take in but we'll be looking forward to the tournament and what a great main event next week! Let's go to the ring and see Matt Borne in action!" ================ MATCH #1: "Maniac" Matt Borne w/Luscious Johnny V pinned Nate Warner with a Saito Suplex Post Match: Borne/Landel/Embry/Regal/Valiant join Joe Pedicino in the interview area Pedicino: "Guys it looks like.." (Landel grabs the mic and cuts him off) Landel: "Shut your fat mouth, Joe Cappuccino! What the hell is going on around here?? So the Richs Twin States tag titles just suddenly morph into Continental tag team titles…..but this Twin States title (throws it on the ground) just goes away and now I have to wrestle the winner of some tournament of random people to prove what I've already proven…that I'm the best wrestler here!?!? This is ridiculous…this is ludicrous, daddy! They have Nick Bullwinkel out there in Texas talking about how he's coming here to use MY Continental title as a 'stepping stone' to Terry Funk and the USWA World Title? They've got some goof who is supposedly some kinda champion in Japan coming to be in this tournament? What's he called 'So-sue-me Foo'd-ja-mommy'? What kinda a name is that for a person? This is America, call him Tom Smith or something, don't expect me to learn Japanese so I can say the name of some Tokyo job boy! Last but not least, why on earth are me and Matt Borne having to wrestle Special Olympia and Loser Brody here next week??" Pedicino: "Because Mr. Thatcher has booked you and 'Maniac' Matt Borne to face…" (Borne snatches the mic and grabs Pedicino by the lapels) Borne: "Who are you calling 'Maniac'? Who said my name is 'Maniac' Matt Borne? I'm not a maniac!" Pedicino: "Says the man who is grabbing me and threatening me!" Borne: (lets go and straightens Joe's suit back up) "You're right Joseph….those types of actions would make one look like a 'maniac' and unlike Mr. Brody that we will be facing next week, neither myself or the 'Nature Boy' are maniacs…we're professional wrestlers, in fact we're the best professional wrestlers in this promotion and next week we'll prove it when we beat these two and then go on to face each other in this tournament." Landel: "Now I'm sure if it comes down to you vs me, you'll do the right thing." Borne: "Buddy, I promise you….only a 'maniac' would go against the leader of the Platinum Club….I will absolutely do the 'right thing'." Landel: "What's with the finger quotes?" Embry: "Come on guys, y'all have a tag match to prepare for next week, let's get out of here." (They all leave as Landel looks suspicious towards Borne) ================ COMMERCIAL BREAK ================ MATCH #2: Terry Taylor pinned 'Big' Bubba Monroe following the 'Five Arm' Post Match Promo: Taylor says he's focusing all his energy on the upcoming Continental Heavyweight title tournament and that he will do whatever it takes to be the Continental Heavyweight Champion! ================ (Cut to the interview area where Downtown Bruno has a microphone) Bruno: "I know all you people saw Chicky Starr come out here two weeks ago, and just outright stole my monster Hercules Ayala, now I could have went home and cried the blues….but that's not my style you understand…so I just went out and got an even bigger…..and even badder monster…this MAN, the Mighty Goliath….not just a heavyweight….but a SUPER heavyweight….come on Goliath, let's go down to the ring and show these folks what you can do! Haha, I know you folks hate it that nobody can get over on Downtown Bruno but it's like Mama says, it beez that way sometimes!" --------------------------- MATCH #3: The Mighty Goliath w/Downtown Bruno pinned Randy Watson following a "big splash" ================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ================= (We cut to the dressing room where 'Mr. Money' is having a meltdown with Slick) Fergie: "It's all falling apart Slick….first me and Gerry spent all that money last weekend and still got screwed out of the tournament! Then they just go and retire my Gulf Coast Championship! Plus, we still got Bad News looking for us, who knows what he's going to do when he catches up to us!?!" Slick: "Fergs….you got to calm down brutha! It's gonna be alright." Fergie: "How's it going to be alright? It's just you and me now! Frank Morrell just up and quit because he's afraid Bad News is going to kill us….I've been having to drive myself! Hell, I had to get my own lunch today!" (Chicky Starr and Hercules Ayala enter the room) Starr: "Hola! So Ese' I hear you've got some troubles with Bad News Allen?" Fergie: "That's just it….we don’t know for sure, but the last time we saw him, things didn't go well." Starr: (nodding) "I see….well…you see this man right here (points at Ayala) Does he look he's scared of Bad News Allen? Does he look like he's scared of ANYBODY for that matter?" Fergie: "No…not at all….this man is a monster." Starr: "Damn right he is, amigo! So, I'm here with a business proposition. I've got an exclusive contract here, for myself and Hercules Ayala to offer you around the clock security and I promise you, Ese'….as long as Mr. Ayala is watching your back…you don't have to worry about nobody! All we need is for you to sign this contract and you won't have a worry in the world!" (hands Fergie a contract) Fergie: (looks it over) "Mr. Starr, this contract is in spanish…" Starr: "Of course it's in spanish, that's our first language." Fergie: "Well, I don't speak spanish…so I have no idea what I'm signing." Starr: "You can see right here is your name, there's my name, and most importantly there's Mr. Ayala's name." Fergie: "Yeah I can read those…but I don't know what any of the rest of it says…" Starr: "Ok, so you don't trust us? I just told you what it says, it says we will protect you…hell, we're even going to protect your buddy Slick here at no extra charge….but since you don't trust us….screw you guys, you can fend for yourselves…let's go Herc." (turns to leave) Slick: "Hold on guys….we trust you…don't be hasty. We're all friends here. Go ahead, Fergs…sign it!" Fergie: (hesitates for a moment ,then signs it) "Sure, we trust you….so if Bad News shows up….you guys will handle him?" Starr: "Listen amigo, if Godzilla shows up….Hercules Ayala will handle it! No worries!" (shakes hands with Slick and Fergie) ================= MATCH #4: "White Lightning" Tim Horner pinned Eddie Wilson with the "Natural Bridge" Post Match interview: Horners tells Pedicino that he has come to Continental for one reason, that's the United States Jr Heavyweight title and he will be working his way up the ladder until he earns a shot at Chicky Starr! ================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ================= MATCH #5: Southern Streetfight "Superstar" Bill Dundee vs. George Barnes Both guys are in jeans and cowboy boots and it's a wild brawl from the moment that Dundee steps between the ropes! They fight around ringside and eventually make their way back into the ring….As soon as it looks like Dundee is in control….suddenly Butch Miller, Luke Williams, and Lord Jonathan Boyd all hit the ring and go after Dundee….but within moments Brickhouse Brown, Norvell Austin, and Adrian Street all hit the ring to even the odds…..the referee can't call for a DQ due to the streetfight rules…after a few moments everyone brawls their way out to floor except Barnes and Dundee…..Dundee is down, and Barnes climbs up to the top rope and gets ready to jump off for his "Bombs Away" finisher….but before he can jump, Jeff Jarrett runs down and shoves Barnes off the top turnbuckle causing him to stradle the top rope before falling off into the ring….Dundee crawls over and puts an arm across Barnes…the referee counts 1-2-3!! Winner: "Superstar" Bill Dundee ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT GRUDGE TAG TEAM MATCH Blackjack Mulligan/Kendall Windham defeated The Moondogs w/Sir Oliver Humperdink when Mulligan pinned Spot after a powerslam Platt: "Big win for Blackjack Mulligan and Kendall Windham, right now let's take a look at the first round matches that will take place in the tournament next Sunday in Carrollton, Georgia." The David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament
GeneJackson95 replied to Blehschmidt's topic in Programming
Guys, thanks so much for letting me be a part of this tournament, it was a huge undertaking for everybody but it came together surprisingly easy because you guys are so easy to work with. I think all the teams came out of this better than they came in, and all three promotions were well represented. I'm not going to back through and recap everything that happened as it's been pretty well covered here.....I just want to say that even knowing what was going to happen, the finals came off perfect! Everything that had built over the past several weeks culminated perfectly with the Von Erichs showing up to humble the Richs, I can't even imagine how the fans in Dallas would have reacted to this in reality as I honestly had goose bumps reading it! I hope we can collaborate on more big events in the future....perhaps a late summer event or maybe something similar to the Great American Bash tour. -

Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #3 David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Special Broadcasting LIVE on the USA Network on Saturday Feb 13, 1986 From: Reunion Arena in Dallas, TX. Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of highlights from this morning's first round matches, we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Welcome back and thank you for joining us once again for the David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament! We're coming to you live from Reunion Arena, here in beautiful Dallas, Texas." RPG: "Beautiful Dallas, Texas? Talk about killing your credibility right out of the gate!" Platt: "Don't start this already Gossett….We have some great second round matches happening tonight and rather than talking about it….we're going to get right to the action. Let's go down to the ring!" ================== MATCH #1: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The South Pacific Connection (Sivi Afi/Cocoa Samoa) vs. "Hollywood" John Tatum/"The New Jersey Heartthrob" Jack Victory w/Dark Journey Texas All-Star Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Texas Tag Team Champions heard the boos as they made their way down to the ring. Tatum took the mic and pointed out, "We're the home team, you people should be cheering us!" which only brought more boos…."I know the real wrestling fans in California and New Jersey are cheering us right…who needs you stupid Texans!" The South Pacific Connection came to ring looking ready for business and didn't pay any mind to the shenanigans of Tatum and Victory. Sivi/Cocoa controlled the majority of this one until the end when Afi planted Tatum with a bodyslam and ascended to the top rope for the big splash, just as he started to climb, Dark Journey jumped up on the apron yelling at the referee who came over to get her down…..allowing Victory to shove Afi off the top rope sending him crashing to the mat away from Tatum who managed to crawl over and make the cover…..Cocoa Samoa went after Victory just as the referee got Dark Journey down in time to see the cover and count 1-2-3! Winners: "Hollywood" John Tatum & "The New Jersey Heartthrob" Jack Victory ===================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ===================== MATCH #2: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Bruise Brothers (Porkchop Cash/Snowman) vs. The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) Much like in the opening match of this round, the Texas fans know the Highwaymen and reacted accordingly. The Bruise Brothers once again got a great reception and this one got underway quickly. The Bruise Brothers looked great in the opening minutes of the match until The Highwaymen capaitlized on a mistake by Cash and the spend the next several minutes working him over on their half of the ring….until Duncum climbed up on the 2nd rope and went for a splash, Cash managed to move out of the way and got the tag to the Snowman who came in and started cleaning house on both of the Highwaymen….as the referee was trying to get order restored, Hickerson pulled a chain out of his boot and knocked out the Snowman, he tucked it into his armpit and made the cover, referee Ron West counted 1-2-3! West went to raise the left arm of Hickerson but he refused and insisted West raise the other arm….the fans are screaming that Hickerson "hit him with a chain"….An argument insues between West and Hickerson when Cash runs over and raises Hickerson's left arm causing the chain to fall to the mat, as soon as West sees this he grabs the chain off the mat and runs over to ring announcer Rick Stewart…..Stewart announces that West has reversed his decision…..The winners are the Bruise Brothers by DQ!! As soon as the announcement is made Bobby Duncum blasts Ron West from behind with a clothesline….Hickerson gives him a couple of stomps before they leave to a chorus of boos. Winners: The Bruise Brothers by DQ ========================= PROMO for tomorrow's championship matches ========================= MATCH #3 David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn/Stan Lane) vs. Johnny & Tommy Rich w/Davey Rich Continental Tag Team Champions The Rich Cousins come down the aisle to the tune of 'Tom Sawyer' by Rush surrounded by eight security guards as fans are trying their best to get their hands on them while throwing things. Once they get in the ring, Johnny removes his ring jacket to reveal a t-shirt with a picture of Sloth from the Goonies with 'Mike Von Erich' printed under it, meanwhile Tommy removes his jacket to reveal a t-shirt that reads 'I SURVIVED THE ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING TOUR 1984', while last but not least Davey takes off his jacket to reveal a t-shirt that that has the classic WCCW Logo except it reads 'No Class Championship Wrestling'…at this point the fans are ready to damn near riot but luckily "Everybody wants you" plays over the PA as the fans prepare for the arrival of the Fabulous Ones…but as the song is nearly over…there is still no sign of the Fabs. RPG: "This song is awful, I wish they would hurry up and get out here!" Platt: "Wait a minute, I'm getting word in my headset here that we've got a camera that has just went in the locker room of the Fabulous Ones and there seems to have been an attack on both Stan Lane and Steve Keirn." (They cut to the locker room of the Fabs where Lane and Keirn are laid out and bloodied) RPG: "Oh my God, Platt! It appears the Fabulous Ones got into some sort of altercation with each other in the back and have taken themselves out of the tournament!" Platt: "What? That can't be what happened! I'm willing to bet that either the Karachi Vice or the Stud Stable attacked them….but regardless, it doesn't look like they'll be able to compete." Les Thatcher comes down and let's the referee know what has happened. The referee calls for the bell to start the match and then begins the count, after going through the arbitrary ten count, Johnny and Tommy Rich are declared the winners by count out. The fans are beyond livid that the Richs have been able to advance in the tournament without having to wrestle Winners: Johnny & Tommy Rich RPG: "Platt, they better get some security to police out here for the Richs if they're going to make it out of here!" Platt: "I think you're right, let's go to commercial break!" ========================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== Platt: "Unbelivable…the Richs advance, thanks to the actions of another team who attacked the Fabulous Ones, how can they be proud of that?" RPG: "A wins a win, Chuck. Do you know how great it will be for Continental to have our tag team champions win this tournament!" Platt: "Trust me, it won't be great for ANYONE, if the Johnny and Tommy Rich win this tournament." ------------------------------------------- MATCH #4: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Technicians (Brad Rheinghans/Bob Roop) Before the match the two teams shook hands and agreed to a fair technical match. RPG: "Only a couple of idiots like the Nightmares would agree to have a technical match with a team called the 'Technicians'. This should work out well for them." Platt: "The Nightmares don't have to take a backseat to anybody when it comes to technical wrestling." The opening moments of the match sees a lot of chain wrestling with the Technicians getting the better of the Nightmares of most exchanges when suddenly from out of nowhere….THE MOONDOGS hit the ring and attack the Nightmares….the referee calls for the Disqualification…..Roop and Rheinghans are PISSED and they go after the Moondogs and end up fighting them all the way up the aisle and out of sight…as the Nightmares are laid out in the ring. Winners: The Nightmares by DQ ====================== Highlights are shown of another competitor in the upcoming Continental Heavyweight Championship tournament, Tatsumi Fujinami ====================== MATCH #5: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) w/Lord Jonathan Boyd vs. "Champagne" Gerry Morrow/"Mr. Money" Carl Fergie w/Slick As the Sheepherders and Lord Jonathan Boyd pace around the ring…..Morrow and Fergie repeat their elaborate entrance from the night before, but before they remove their suits, Slick asks for a microphone. Slick: "Greetings and salumatations yo' Lordships….I don't think we've been formally introduced…My name is Slick and these here are my business associates, Carl Fergie and Gerry Morrow. (Morrow offers Boyd a glass of champagne, Boyd grabs it and downs it in one gulp….Morrow and Fergie are both visably taken aback) Good stuff, huh? Anyways, we've got a bit of a business preposition if you will. Now, I can only assume your Sheepherders are only in this tournament to win the money, Amirite?" Boyd: "The bloody hundred grand and to beat people up!" Slick: "Exactedely. Now what if….these two gentlemen could pay you the same amount of money you would get if you won this tournament….right now….just to walk away." Boyd: "That down sound to bad, yank…..but then they get to beat anyone up. Give me moment to speak to the boys. (Boyd/Miller/Williams confer over in the corner for a moment…then Boyd returns) Alright mate, if give us the hundred grand…..plus another twenty five grand to make up for not getting to beat anyone up….you've got yourself a bloody deal." Fergie: "Sold!" Boyd: "Oh and we want whole bottle of champagne too." Morrow: "No problem my friend, 'ders plenty more where dat came from." (hands over the bottle) Boyd snatches the bottle away from Morrow as Fergie writes out a check and hands it to Luke Williams who starts to eat it before Boyd snatches it away and they exit the ring Platt: "I can't believe this….what a ridiculous display going on here." RPG: "Hey Platt, as Morrow often says….it doesn't get any better than this….and he's not talking about that awful Old Milwaukee you and the Dynamite Duo drink out behind the building during intermission." Winners: "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie & "Champagne" Gerry Morrow by forfeit ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= MATCH #6 David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Gunslingers (Scott Casey/Johnny Mantell) w/Sunshine vs. The Dynamite Duo (Brickhouse Brown/Norvell Austin) While The Dynamite Duo had their fair share of supporters, the crowd was solidly behind the Gunslingers…despite the fact there were a few very tense moments in this match, cooler heads always prevailed and it was a very clean, evenly contested match that ended going to the full 20 minute time limit. Neither team was happy with the result, but they shook hands afterwards and got an ovation from the crowds afterwards and got an ovation from the crowd. Winners: Time Limit Draw ==================== Advertisement is shown for the USWA's next closed circuit event. Friday...April 2nd...Market Square Arena... USWA presents "The Happening" ==================== MATCH #7: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 The Wild Bunch (Black Bart/"Outlaw" Ron Bass) vs. The Fabulous Blondes (Eric Embry/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V. Once the Wild Bunch made their way to the ring, Black Bart demanded a microphone. Bart: "Let me tell y'all somethin'! We been back thar' watchin' all these matches and seein' all the dadgum bullcrap that's been happenin'…and if you two are gonna have Lushus Johnny Valium out here then you can bet your butt that we gonna have somebody watchin' our back to make sure don’t no dadgum bullcrap happen to us! So, Wild Bill….get yer tail down here! Johnny, if you even look like you're going to interfere Irwin is going light you up with that bullwhip, boy!" "Wild" Bill Iwrin comes down the aisle cracking the bullwhip and chases Johnny V around the ring for a moment before the match gets started…..Buddy Landel has once again joined in on commentary…with these being a few of his highlights: "Hey Platt, help us out….you're an idiot hick, what the hell does 'dadgum' mean?"/ Black Bart is the worst wrestler I've ever seen….well, I wrestled a guy named Rick Harris a few times that was worse, but I don't know what happened to him." / "You know I had hoped to be a guest on the Fiesta Garden tonight but I guess Madril couldn't get out of his shift at Panchos." / "You know I'm quite sure my teammates Embry and Regal are going to win this thing, but if something happens and they don't….I'm pulling for the Rich boys, such great guys! I know their Mamas must be so proud of them!" / "These goofs think that bringing Bill Irwin down here is going to worry Luscious Johnny? Johnny V will take that whip away from Irwin and reinact a scene from Roots, 'What's your name boy?' 'Super Destroyer two!' Their chance of winning is slimmer than Kendall Windham!" Meanwhile in the ring…..the match goes as you would expect with these two teams….at one point, the match breaks down into a four way brawl in the ring….Johnny V jumps up on the apron and is about to throw powder in the face of Ron Bass…but just as he was dumping the powder in his hand, Irwin cracked the whip scaring Valiant causing him to throw the powder in his own face……Bass whipped Regal into Johnny V knocking him off the apron then catching him with a school boy roll up for the 1-2-3! Winners: The Wild Bunch =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #8: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 2 "Bullet" Bob Armstrong/Terry Taylor vs. The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden) Fuller and Golden enter the ring to a ton of boos just like the previous night. As Armstrong and Taylor make their way down to the ring, Fuller demands a microphone. Fuller: "First off, let me just say it's a damn shame what happened to those Fabulous Ones, I was hoping we'd get a chance to rassle them at some point in this thing, anyway…listen here Bob Armstrong, I know there was a truce between the Armstrong and the Fullers for a while in Twin States, but guess what? Twin States is dead and gone and so is any truce we may have had! Terry Taylor, I suggest you just turn and walk away rigth now because you're about to get caught in the middle of a family feud that you don't want no part of son and there's no reason for you to get involved!" (Armstrong grabs a mic at ringside) Armstrong: "We can agree on one thing Robert Fuller….that truce is over and I'm more than happy to come in that ring and whip you and your cousin….tournament or not!" (Taylor grabs the mic) Taylor: "You know Robert, You're exactly right this family feud has nothing to do with me and there's no reason for me to get involved…..oh wait…yes, there is…..I don't like you too…so Bullet let's do it!" With that said, Armstrong and Taylor slide under the bottom rope and the fight is on! It takes a few moments for the referee to gain control and get the match started but he finally does. The match goes back and forth until Armstrong has Fuller in trouble…..which brings in Golden who gets met by Taylor….Golden shoves Taylor into the referee knocking him down, Taylor turns around and blasts Golden with a right hand which knocks Golden down and he rolls out of the ring and Taylor goes out after him….Armstrong manages to lock Robert Fuller in a sleeperhold in the center of the ring as the referee struggles to get back up off the mat….when from out of nowhere, Ron Fuller slides in, pulls out some knux and blasts Armstrong in the back of the head causing him to fall backwards with Robert landing on top of him, Ron slides out as the referee turns over and sees Fuller on top of Armstrong…and counts 1-2-3! Winners: The Stud Stable ===================== Platt: "Well Ronnie, it's been an incredible evening here at Reunion Arena…" RPG: "Hey look! It's Mr. Pro!" ---------------------------------- (Suddenly, "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski enters the ring and with a microphone) Mr. Pro: "Get a referee out here right now! I want all you people in Texas and all you people out there watching this show on the USA Network to see some WRESTLING…not all this fighting and disqualifications and count outs you've seen tonight…I want you people to say you saw the best WRESTLER in the world in an actual WRESTLING match…..so I'm calling out anybody in that dressing room right now who wants to come out here and get a WRESTLING lesson….come on out here and accept my open challenge!" With that Mr. Pro throws down the mic as referee Ed Brock enters the ring….moments later….'Immigrant Song' by Led Zeplin blasts through the PA and everyone in Reunion Arena rises to their feet…..as BRUISER BRODY comes tearing down the aisle towards the ring!! -------------------------------- MATCH #9: Mr. Pro's Open WRESTLING Challenge "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski vs. Bruiser Brody The fans are chanting "BRO-DEE BRO-DEE" as Bruiser steps between the ropes….he tosses out his furry vest and chain and stomps towards the middle of the ring and just stands there staring down Kiniski who after a moment shoots behind Brody and attempts a german suplex…..Brody just looks annoyed and nails him with a back elbow and then turns around and blasts him with a big boot to the face! Brody then tosses him out to the floor and gives him the tour around ringside slamming Mr. Pro into the ringpost, then the apron, then the ringside table, then hurling him back into the ring…he then whips him into the turnbuckle and follows him in with a big clothesline…..as Kiniski staggers out of the corner Brody scoops him up and gives him a running powerslam! Kiniski looks like he's done but Brody is not….he picks him up and give him a big jumping piledriver in the center of the ring….Kiniski looks like a corspe laying motionless at this point….Brody hits the ropes and comes down with a huge leg drop and covers for the 1--2--3!! Brody grabs the house mic on the way out and yells, 'Hey boy….thanks for the lesson!" and heads back up the aisle flailing his chain around. Winner: Bruiser Brody ================ Platt: "What a wild way to end things here tonight after all the things we've seen here at Reunion Arena, make sure you tune in tomorrow and see what's sure to be a thrilling conclusion to this tournament as well as the two huge title matches that will take place….good night from Dallas, Texas!" © 1986 Continental Championship Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions -

Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #2 David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Special Broadcasting LIVE on the USA Network on Saturday Feb 13, 1986 From: The Sportatorium in Dallas, TX. Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of highlights from the previous first round matches from last night, we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling coming from the historic Sportatorium here in Dallas, Texas as bring to you the final matches of the first round of the David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament, I'm Charlie Platt alongside Ronnie P. Gossett….and Ronnie, what a great first round it's been so far." RPG: "It's been amazing and I can only imagine how excited the fans are to have someone as insightful as me here calling the action after sitting through listening to that geriatric Lance Russell and that cure for insomnia Marc Lowrance." Platt: "The show just started, this is our first impression with the fans watching on USA Network and you have to start the program out speaking ill of our wonderful colleagues from USWA and Texas All Star?" RPG: "I'm not saying they're bad people….just that Lance Russell is borderline senile and that Marc Lowrance has the enthusiasm and charisma of a funeral director." Platt: "Anyway, as I was saying….a lot of exciting things have happened so far…we've seen the Fabulous Ones advance by defeating the USWA World Tag Team Champions the Karachi Vice. We've also witnessed John Tatum and Jack Victory the Texas Tag Team Champions advancing, as well as The Bruise Brothers the Central States Tag Team Champions…." (Gossett interupts) RPG: "Most importantly to me, the Continental Tag Team Champions Johnny and Tommy Rich advanced with an amazing victory over the Indian Express." Platt: "I believe you mean Tribal Nation." RPG: "Potato….potatoe." Platt: "Well perhaps the most exciting result thus far in the first round has been The Gunslingers exciting victory over the USWA World Champion Terry Funk and his brother Dory Funk Jr eliminating them from the tournament." RPG: "Speak for yourself Platt, I was not at all excited about that….it was quite disgraceful how that harlot Sunshine distracted the champ costing the Funks the victory….and speaking of disgraceful, I was absolutley appalled when those two lowlifes from Kansas assaulted their very own manager, my good close personal friend Percival Pringle the third." Platt: "Well, clearly we weren't watching the same show……Percy brought that on himself." RPG: "First of all, you don't know him well enough to call him, Percy…..Second of all, he had every right to do what he did after those two losers embarassed him here in front of these awful Texans…..but none the less, if you want to talk about the most exciting thing we've seen thusfar in this tournament, it has to be the incredible victory of 'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie and Gerry Morrow over Brad Armstrong and Wendell FOOLEY! I'm going on record right now…those two gentlemen will run the table and win this whole thing!" Platt: "I found that to be a disgusting display….but that's enough talking from us, let's get to the action and finish out the first round and see who else will advance in the David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament." ===================== MATCH #1: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 1 The Dynamite Duo (Brickhouse Brown/Norvell Austin) vs. High Fly'n Fever (Greg Gagne/Joe Savoldi) The team of Gagne/Savoldi were not well received here in Texas while Brickhouse and Norvel got a very warm reception as they made their way to the ring to the tune of Jermain Jackson's 'Dynamite'. A fast paced match to start but eventually Gagne/Savoldi took control and slowed things down while taking the heat on Austin for several minutes until he got the "hot tag" on Brickhouse who managed to get the pin on Joe Savoldi with a sunset flip. Winners: The Dynamite Duo ======================== A promotional video airs about tomorrow's non-tournament matches featuring Dick Slater vs. Tully Blanchard w/Baby Doll for the USWA Central States title as well as Terry Funk defending the USWA World Championship against the "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes! ======================== MATCH #2: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 1 The Texas Rangers (Longhorn/Lonestar) vs. The Fabulous Blondes (Eric Embry/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V. (Buddy Landel joins Platt and Gossett for commentary on this one…some of his highlights include: "You know I have it on good authority that those Texas Rangers are actually Kevin and Kerry Von Erich with masks on, they're just too ashamed to show their face around here these days."/ "I was originally going to enter in this tournament and compete without a partner but the USWA ruled it wouldn't be fair to the other teams." / "Platt, you must really be excited to be seen on a national cable channel, this is the closest I've seen you to being sober." / "Embry and Regal are the greatest team in wrestling today, Daddy! They should just go ahead and cut them the check for the hundred grand and save these other teams the embarassment of getting beat."/ You know the only way the USA Network would agree to air this tournament on their channel was if 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel appeared on the show, so I'm out here right now as a favor to everyone else…you're welcome!"/ "Dusty Rhodes bragged in a recent interview that he's the highest paid wrestler in the USWA, I had no idea Jerry Jarrett paid by the pound.") The Texas Rangers who were heavily the crowd favorite to say the least dominated the first portion of the match until Johnny V tripped Longhorn coming off the ropes….allowing the Blondes to take over for a bit…however eventually later on in the match, it looked like Lonestar had things well in control and was about to put Embry away but when he went to hit the ropes, Regal pulled down the top rope sending him crashing to the floor and hitting his head on the ring apron on the way down……Longhorn helped him back in the ring but the damage was done, Embry rolled him up and got the pin Winners: The Fabulous Blondes =============================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =============================== MATCH #3: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 1 The Wild Bunch (Black Bart/'Outlaw' Ron Bass) vs. The Devil's Duo (Doug Vines/Jeff Sword) w/Paul Jones There was bad blood between these teams going into this one….the fans were all over the Devil's Duo as soon as they entered the arena, and Paul Jones did not endear himself to anyone as he was screaming at fans as they came down the aisle…..The Wild Bunch however got a rousing ovation as they made their way down to the ring, as soon as Bart/Bass stepped through the ropes…they were attacked by Sword/Vines and the fight was on….surprisingly the referee called for the bell even though all four men were in the ring fighting…..as the referee was putting Jones out of the ring, Sword tossed Bass out of the ring to the floor, then came up behind Bart and hooked his arms behind his back…..Vines went up to the 2nd rope and came down with a double axe handle but Bart moved and Vines took out his partner! Bart clotheslines Vines out of the ring and quickly covered Sword as the referee turned around just in time to count the 1-2-3!! Platt: "WOW! The Wild Bunch manages to grab a quick victory here and Paul Jones is beside himself!!" RPG: "As well he should be….that match never should have been started! All four men were in the ring, why did they ring the bell??" Platt: "Well, it was the Devil's Duo who jumped the Wild Bunch at the bell so it serves them right!" Winners: The Wild Bunch ====================== (We go to the interview area where Joe Pedicino is joined by former AWA World Champion Nick Bockwinkel) Pedicino: "Mr. Bockwinkel, it's a pleasure to have you here in attendance for this great tournament…what has been your thoughts so far?" Bock: "Needless to say, it's been nothing short of spectacular….collectively the USWA, Texas All Star, and Continental seem to have the greatest collection of tag teams in the world today. Thirty two tag teams and so far not a bad pairing in the bunch, I obviously didn't expect much out of this Carl Fergie and Gerry Morrow team going in…but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with the way they were able to manipulate that situation and pull victory from what should have been certain defeat." Pedicino: "I can't say I was happy, but it was impressive….I had no idea Carl Fergie was such a great actor….however, beyond the tournament I would like to ask you if the rumors are true that you will be competing in the upcoming Continental Heavyweight Championship tournament?" Bock: "I typically like to play my cards close to the vest, however since this is such an important event and we have fans literally watching from all over via the USA Network, I will take this opportunity to confirm those rumors and tell you that I will in fact be competing for the Continental Championship, I intend to use it as a springboard to the USWA World Championship currently held by Terry Funk." Pedicino: "That's certainly exciting news and we wish you the best of luck in that endeavor, thanks for joining us here in Dallas and enjoy the rest of the tournament." ====================== MATCH #4: David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 1 "Bullet" Bob Armstrong/Terry Taylor vs. Bodacious (Chic Donovan/Doug Sommers) w/The Vin Man Bodacious and the Vin Man make their way down with all three wearing ill fitting cowboy hats to a chorus of boos, all the while waving and smiling as if the fans were cheering. They enter the ring and the Vin Man takes the microphone from the ring announcer. Vin: "Thank you….thank you! I know you are all excited to see us….I know for weeks and weeks there's been a lot of buzz all across Texas about the big arrival of BODACIOUS for this tournament and don't worry, people have smartened me up to the fact that not only do you want to see Chic and Doug wrestle…what you really want is to hear us sing! Now, I guess we could be mean and make you wait until after match to hear us sing….but I'm sure the guys will be tired after the beating they are going to put on these two losers we're about to wrestle, so guys…let's give 'em what they want…..right now!" All three gather in the center of the ring with the mic between them, "WE ARE FAM…." Before they can continue, the opening chords of 'Bad to the Bone' hit and the crowd goes wild as 'Bullet' Bob and Terry Taylor make their way to the ring and mercifully interupt the singing….as the Vin Man and Bodacious stomp around the ring completely outraged! Things finally settle down and the match gets started, a pretty basic tag match for the first few minutes until the Vin Man gets caught blatently trying to interfere and the referee throws him out….the crowd has a good time taunting him as he's escorted away from ringside. Donovan and Sommers use the distraction to take over on Armstrong and work him over for a bit while swapping in and out of the ring while the referee tries to put Taylor back out….Donovan goes for a big elbow drop off the 2nd rope and Armstrong manages to avoid and get the tag to Taylor who comes in "like a house of fire" and ends up landing the 'five arm' on Donovan to get the win! Winners: "Bullet" Bob Armstrong/Terry Taylor ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #5 David Von Erich Memorial Tournament Match Round 1 The Glamour Boys (Steve Doll/Steve Simpson) vs. The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden) 'All Hells Breakin Loose' by KISS plays as the Stud Stable, Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden make their way down the aisle in their robes looking quite confident. The Glamour Boys, Steve Doll and Steve Simpson come down to a ton of cheers and screams from the female fans. Fuller asks for the microphone. Fuller: "I just want to make something very clear…..my cousin Jimmy and I have come here to Texas to wrestle tonight! Now with a name like the Glamour Boys…..I'm not sure if you're here to fight us….or ask us on a date." (Gives a big grin….Steve Doll grabs the mic) Doll: "Well…here's a clue!" With that, Doll punches Fuller right in the face and the fight is on! All four men are fighting in the ring when both Doll and Simpson dropkick Fuller and Golden out of the ring! (Fuller calls "time out" and re-enters the ring with the mic, approaching Steve Simpson this time) Fuller: "Hang on now….I'm sorry….I'm sorry….we misjudged you. Let's start over." (Holds out his hand for a handshake) Simpson: "Nope…still here to fight!" Steve Doll clocks Fuller as well who rolls out to the floor….and is embraced by Jimmy Golden. Doll: "I'm not sure what you guys came here to do….but we came to wrestle! Now, I know you two are from Tennessee….AND you're cousins….but save that hugging for later!" The fans start chanting things at Fuller and Golden that would not be acceptable by today's standards and they are FURIOUS…Golden rushes the ring and gets a drop toe hold from Doll….and the Glamour Boys are in firm control of the frustrated Stud Stable for the first half of this match. Fuller and Golden eventually get the advantage but not for long as this was a very even back and forth match for the most part that kept the fans on the edge of their seats……it looked like Simpson was about to get the win when he dove off the top rope with a flying crossbody on Golden who managed to roll through and hook the tights to get the pin! Winners: The Stud Stable ====================== RPG: "Great win from the Stud Stable! Those two young punks had the nerve to think they stood a chance against these two veterans?? Not a chance!" Platt: "Well, they came very close and had Golden not pulled the tights, there might have been a very different outcome. What an amazing first round of action it's been across the board! Please join later tonight as we come to you from Reunion Arena to start the second round tournament action, right in Dallas, Texas!" © 1986 Continental Championship Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions -
Wow! We're off with a bang this week with 'the American Dream' in action...then all of a sudden Terry Funk shows up seeking revenge for last week's loss but ends up getting humiliated even worse by getting branded with his own branding iron!! It looks like so far Dusty has really got the Funker's number....that USWA World title might be in jeopardy....especially with Terry splitting his attention between a MAJOR title defense and going for the money in the tag team tournament....Funk could come out a BIG winner....or he might come out a BIG loser....doing double duty may prove to be a huge mistake. The Stud Stable have wasted no time establishing themselves here in the USWA and you have to think with their experience teaming together that Fuller and Golden have a good chance of taking home the cash next weekend....especially if the Tennessee Stud is anywhere in the arena! Paul Jones is pissed! It will be interesting to see if his method of "firing up" the Devil's Duo proves to be effective in the tournament next weekend. Aw man....Gerry gives George Wells a 'Thunderbird bath'....that has to be humiliating to say the least....he may have just managed to motivate Wells for revenge even more than before. OH BOY! Greg Gagne is pissed!! Everybody run and clear out of Gagne's path of rage or else!!! LOL, but seriously...it's been fun seeing a heel Greg Gagne here in the USWA the past few months, let's see if he can back up this tough talk! Curt Hennig is going to be a great addition to the USWA roster....can't wait to see what you have in store for him! I agree that Nord/Rip will be fun either way as friends or foes...or perhaps as crazy these guys are.....a mixture of both! The war of words between Ms. Brenda and "Alvin" continues and it was funny watching Britton try to seduce Lance Von Erich into doing her bidding but it appears she was successful and now The Fabulous Lance is going to confront Alvin Madril...which should be incredible. King Curtis and Kamala are fired up and that can't be good for Carlos Colon and friends (which needs to be a cartoon if USWA ever goes the Rock 'N' Wrestling route) Bodacious and the Vin Man is such a fun team! I'm really enjoying their antics each week. Uh oh....Champagne Gerry isn't exactly the kinda guy who is going to want to be in a 'Ghetto Street Fight' this is going to be interesting. Damn....Slater knocks Tully on his ass.....Blanchard and Baby Doll are not going to take getting humilitated on tv lightly! YES....we at least know when to expect to find out who this new King is!! But when the hell is LUSCIOUS going to be revealed?!?! Kevin Kelly, you son of a bitch! You cost us the TV title run we all wanted and needed from Big Man Steel!! Great TV leading into the tournament next week! Onward to Rupp Arena! Karachi Vice continue to get heat leading into next weekend! Oh my God...if it comes down to Karachi Vice or The Richs, the fans may burn the place down! Barr comes out on the short end again and can't handle it....he may just snap soon and end George's career! WOW...I did not see that coming....thanks to Mr Magnificent and Bodacious, Big Man Steel is outta here! The Fabs get the win and poor Gagne gets assaulted with concessions once again! Just when I thought I couldn't love Champagne Gerry anymore.....he shows up to a Ghetto Streetfight....IN A SUIT! Tremendous!! Just when it looks like Wells can't be stopped....Morrow's new pal Carl Fergie returns the favor from the Gulf Coast Clash and shatters a champagne bottle over Wells' head who is now a victim of his own stipulation! Priceless! (which really should be the name of their team) Things continue to heat up between Carlos & Friends against Kamala/Lewin/King Curtis....this will eventually end up in some sort of cage situation it feels like That my friend is a killer main event! If I'm anywhere in driving distance of Rupp Arena, there's no way I'm not buying a ticket and hitting the road to see those four go at, especially with the great build up on television so far! Baby Doll screws up, Slater pins Tully....EVERYONE goes home happy! Great show!!

Twin States drops Todd Morton, Ricky Gibson, and Frankie Lancaster (I dropped him a while back) which will make room for TNT.

Nice nod to the late Gino Hernandez to open the show Dusek addressing the Wild Bunch and laying down the law that there can only be two members at ringside and competing is a great way to open the show, Bart is quick to let us know he's "Fightin for sure!" Looks like it's gonna be Bass tonight! Nice win for the Cartel that further establishes them as a legit team and not just lackeys for "El Jefe" We get a rundown of all the Texas teams competing in the tournament, you and Spaldoni have both done an amazing job building up this tournament! Not sure if I'm proud or ashamed of the Rich Cousins/Von Erich promo but it certainly dialed the heat up a few more notches...lol. Glad to see Marc Lowrance and Dusek reacted accordingly. The Gunslingers seem more than ready for the tournament and I would think with the home field advantage they have to be favorites to win the whole thing! Now....it's my favorite time of the week...time for the Fiesta Garden! We get some upgrades this week in not only set design but a new bodyguard in karate master, Ron Slinker! (I like it!) I love how Madril always twists the crowd's reaction into aligning with him I.E. they aren't booing the "Texas Trash" line, they're booing them destroying his set lol. I'm loving the back and forth between Madril and Ms. Brenda...the "taking dictation" line was stellar lol.....while managing to bury Greg Gagne for good measure. Ultimately a great lead in to his debut match with Tim Horner, where we establish the imporatance of Mr. Slinker by helping him get the win....great stuff! Classic 80's rasslin tv here with yet another tease of LUSCIOUS! This shit used to drive me crazy as a kid waiting for the reveal! You and Spaldoni both have done a great job teasing LUSCiOUS and the "new" King! Nice win for the Kansas Jayhawks and a great promo from them and PP3! Awesome main event....featuring Texas All-Star's longest running feud Black Bart vs. Killer Brooks.....and it looks like the pairing of Brooks and Mike Miller has run it's course...while it appears Bart/Bass are ready for the tournament next week.....or will it be Bass/Irwin? Bart/Irwin? It will be interesting to see it all play out!

Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #1 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday February 6, 1986 From: Rome, Georgia Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Twin States Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from throughout the Continental United States sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling, I'm your host Charlie Platt and as always I'm joined by the one and only Ronnie P. Gossett….and we welcome all the fans of Twin States Wrestling across Alabama and Mississippi, as well as our new fans joining us this week on our new tv affiliates across Florida and Georgia as well." RPG: "How exciting for these folks to finally get to partake in the genius that is…ME, Ronnie P. Gossett." Platt: "I'm sure they can hardly contain themselves. So, let's talk a bit about some of the action that took place in Biloxi this past Sunday at Gulf Coast Clash." RPG: "It was amazing! First of all, Chicky Starr beat Scott Armstrong to become the new USWA United States Junior Heavyweight Champion! That was great….plus you had George Barnes nearly committing legal homicide in front of a live audience on that little snot nosed punk, Jeff Jarrett to the point that little sawed off runt Bill Dundee had to throw in the towel effectively saving his life, and I'm sure if he EVER gets out of the hospital, he won't ever go near a wrestling ring again! Seeing that was like Christmas all over again! Then my great friend, 'Mr. Money' successfully defended his Gulf Coast Championship against Terry Taylor….which was awesome, then Killer Khan and the Moondogs took out Blackjack and Stringbean, Terry Funk successfully defended the USWA World title against Bob Armstrong….then BEST of all…The Platinum Club were victorious in the steel cage, even with the deck stacked against them, the Twin States Champion Buddy Landel pinned one of those Mr Olympias exposing him as DJ Peterson and sending him outta here….while the other Mr Olympia realized that Jerry Stubbs is a total loser…and he revealed himself to be 'Maniac' Matt Borne and has alligned himself with winners now, the Platinum Club!" Platt: "Well, that's a very slanted view of what took place in Biloxi, only focusing on the results that suited you and twisting the details of others…." RPG: "Tell me how ANYTHING I just said is untrue?" Platt: "Unfortunately, we don't have time to go into those details right now, but I can tell you that we'll talk more about the aftermath of Gulf Coast Clash throughout the program. I can also tell you that we'll have some interesting announcements in the coming weeks about some changes forthcoming as we have transition away from Twin States Wrestling, we'll have some announcements as it pertains to championships in a couple of weeks but I can tell you that we'll be crowing a Continental Heavyweight Champion, and some of top wrestlers from around the world are contacting the office about entering that tournament including some former World Champions. One example of this is the IWGP Heavyweight Champion from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami has traveled to the United States to compete here in Continental Championship Wrestling and he's in the ring right now so let's go down right now to see him in action." ================ MATCH #1: IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tatsumi "The Dragon" Fujinami pinned Rocky Ewing with the 'Dragon Suplex' ================ (VTR- Joe Pedicino caught up with Bob Armstrong in the locker room following his match with Terry Funk at 'Gulf Coast Clash') Pedicino: "Bob, could I please get a word with you about what just took place?" Armstrong: "You sure can….what just took place is Terry Funk just proved once again that he's all talk…that when push comes to shove you're a coward that can't back up his big mouth….but I'll get my hands on you again in due time….but for now my focus is on that low down brother of his Dory Funk Jr! Dory Funk, you want to come here and stick your nose in my business? You want my attention? Well brother, you've got it! Now, right now I’m going to focus my attention on winning this David Von Erich Memorial tag team tournament because my partner Terry Taylor deserves nothing less than my full attention and effort….but once this tournament is over…..Dory Funk Jr….you belong to me!" (END VTR) ================ MATCH #2: "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony w/Downtown Bruno & Hercules Ayala pinned Randy Watson after a piledriver Post Match Promo: As Downtown Bruno starts to tell Pedicino how Dirty White Boy and Hercules Ayala should be in the big tag team tournament next weekend, Chicky Starr comes out and says something to Ayala in spanish and then hands him an envelope, Ayala pushes past Bruno and Anthony and leaves with Starr. Bruno is dumbfounded, "Where the hell are you going? I paid to bring you here….get back here!" Bruno and DWB leave following Ayala and Starr up the aisle abruptly ending the promo. ================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ================== MATCH #3: "Superstar" Bill Dundee/"Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda defeated Rusty Jones/Oliver Edwards when Street made Edwards submit with a 'Boston Crab' Post match interview: Street talked about how they are going to win the tag team tournament in Dallas next weekend and says that he and Linda will go on a shopping spree with their half of the money. Dundee however was a little less jovial as he called out Barnes for trying to injure Jeff Jarrett at Gulf Coast Clash rather than just beat him….he challenges Barnes to a streetfight right here on television in two weeks after the tournement is over. =================== (VTR: Bad News Allen is standing in front of a CCW backdrop) Bad News: "Every man's goal who steps inside a wrestling ring is to be World Champion….and if you get that opportunity and fail because another man beat you…..then you have to accept that. You might not like it…but you have to accept it. Now….on the other hand…if you manage to earn yourself an opportunity at the World title but you lose that opportunity because you've made the mistake of surrounding yourself with idiots….that's a little harder to accept! I'm not coming to Rome, Georgia this week because I don't know what I might do to Slick and Carl Fergie if I laid eyes on them right now….so I'm going to take a few more days to calm down and think about what I lost….thanks to you two, and I'm also going to think about what YOU'RE going to lose…..the next time I DO see you!" (END VTR) =================== (Joe Pedicino is joined in the ring by the Twin States Tag Team Champions Johnny and Tommy Rich along with their cousin Davey Rich) Pedicino: "Guys, this is the first time you've been live in the arena in a few weeks, please tread lightly." Tommy: "Whatever do you mean? We're just here to talk about how honored we are to be a part of this big prestigious tag team tournament down in the great state of Texas next weekend." Johnny: "Not to mention, the fact that we hold the Von Erich family in such high regard." (Les Thatcher enters the ring and asks for the mic) Davey: "Good evening Mr. Thatcher, it sure is great to see you again." Thatcher: "Did you think we wouldn't find out?" Tommy: "Find out about what?" Thatcher: "Frank Dusek called us…..we know you guys somehow got a hold of the tape and dubbed over the highlight reel with some highly offensive material about Texas and the Von Erich family!" (All three Richs bust out laughing with Johnny literally falling on the mat) Tommy: "Hey, let's show it right now for everyone fortunate enough to not have to see Texas No Star Rasslin', I stole that line from my buddy Percy Pringle…" Thatcher: "NO! They showed part of it before they realized what you did but that tape has been destroyed and it will never air again….ANYWHERE!" Johnny: "What?? We deserved an Academy award for that performance! That's the most lucid version of the Von Erichs that's ever appeared on television! Mike is an inspiration to mongoloids everywhere!" Thatcher: "Stop it…..just stop right now! If you speak another ill word about Texas or the Von Erichs on this program tonight, you'll be removed from the tournament….which you might just want to do because you've got a LOT of teams down there ready to destroy you guys before you ever make it to the ring!" Tommy: "Hey, we ain't afraid of none of those teams down in Texas….and we sure ain't afraid of none of the teams here or in the USWA because we've already beat most of them anyway! You think we're scared of a tag team called the Glamour Boys?? Yeah, scared they might wanna kiss us! Are we supposed to shake in fear over that Indian team, we'll throw some litter on the ground and they'll be too busy crying to rassle! Who else they got?" Johnny: "They got that new team the Candy Asses, or Fat and Skinny..whatever they're called……and then of course they got those masked goofs, the Lone Rangers." Davey: "What about the so called tag champs? The New Jersey Heartthrob? Trust me, there's no 'heartthrobs' coming out of Jersey…and John Tatum wouldn't know Hollywood if you dropped him there out of an airplane!" Tommy: "I don't know about you guys but I'm scared to death of ol' El Jeffrey and the Rotel!" Johnny: "What about the two legends Bobby Duncum and Phil Hickerson? They were on the undercard when David fought Goliath….they're older than baseball." Tommy: "You can't forget the Mild Bunch…..Fat Bart, Yosemite Bass, and Bill 'Scott's little brother' Irving….who barely made it into the tournament beating by 'Our Gang', Captain Caveman Brooks and Ratings Killer Mike Miller that couldn't draw money if you dipped them in glue and dragged them through Fort Knox!" Davey: "Well guys, you have to admit that Dutch Mantell and Bobby Jaggers are a great tag team….I mean, their name sucks." Tommy: "Exactly, what the hell is a jayhawk?" Johnny: "Kansas sucks worse than Texas…..which bring us to those two dime store cowboys, Johnny Mantell and Scott Casey….they make John Travolta in Urban Cowboy look like John Wayne." Tommy: "What about their valet, Sunshine? She's had more Texas rasslers in her than the Sportatorium…." Thatcher: "Go to commercial…NOW!!" RPG on commentary: "Well, technically they didn't badmouth Texas or the Von Erichs…." =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== (We go to the desk with Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett as we return from break) Platt: "Fans, we'd like to apologize for the behavior of the Richs and for anything they said that may have offended some viewers." RPG: "Apologize?? That was the single greatest thing that's ever happened on this show NOT involving my best friend Buddy Landel." Platt: "Yeah I would expect you to enjoy something like that." RPG: "Well, you know they call her Sunshine because EVERYBODY gets…" (Platt interjects) Platt: "Let's go to the ring for the official debut of Dory Funk Jr!" ================== MATCH #4: Dory Funk Jr defeated Buster Scruggs by submission with the spinning toehold (As Funk is leaving the ring, he is approached by Slick and "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie) Slick: "Greetings and salutations Mista Funk. My name is Slick, and this is my business associate Mr. Carl Fergie. Now I can't help but notice that you now seem to have a problem with Bob Armstrong….it just so happens that Mr Fergie and another associate of our's has a problem with Bob Armstrong too….and we were thinking that maybe if we all worked together…we could eliminate this problem for good….ya dig?" Funk: "Mr Slick, the Funk family usually handles it's own affairs…why would I want to associate with you guys?" Slick: "That's a great question….Mr Fergie here has a few hundred reasons you might want to consider it." (Fergie hands Funk an envelope, Funk opens it and counts it's contents) Funk: "Well gentlemen, you've made a compelling offer…..let's talk some more away from all these simpletons." Slick: "Good call my brutha, let's split!" ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #5: Mr. Olympia pinned "Big" Tom Dugan following a DDT As the referee was raising Olympia's hand, Matt Borne hit the ring and attacked him from behind! As Olympia began to fight back….Landel, Embry, and Regal all hit the ring and turned it into a 4 on 1 attack until BRUISER BRODY hit the ring swinging a chain which sent the Platinum Club running back down the aisle! Brody grabs the mic and tells the Platinum Club they've made his s*** list now and there's no corner of the globe they could run to or anywhere they can try to hide that he won't find them and kick their a**! (crowd goes wild) ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= (Once the entrances are done, Lord Jonathan Boyd takes the mic from the ring announcer and says after what happened at the Gulf Coast Clash, "Since these yanks think their so tough….let's make things interesting tonight since this is the first Continental tv show, let's say whoever gets pinned in this match has to leave the territory…do you blokes have the guts to take that challenge?" The Dynamite Duo and Parsons all three quickly agree….the referee says it's official and calls for the bell) ------------------------------------- MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT SIX MAN TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH LOSER OF THE FALL LEAVES TOWN The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams)/Lord Jonathan Boyd defeated The Dynamite Duo (Brickhouse Brown/Norvell Austin)/Iceman Parsons when the match broke down into a six way brawl, as the referee was trying to get four of the guys out of the ring, George Barnes ran down with the flagpole with the New Zealand flag and broke it over Iceman Parsons allowing Boyd to get the pinfall….meaning Parsons now has to leave Continental Championship Wrestling…..meanwhile Bill Dundee comes running down and attacks George Barnes while the Dynamite Duo and the Sheepherders continue to brawl around ringside…. Platt: "Well this is a terrible outcome as Iceman Parsons is forced to leave Continental through no fault of his own…..fans, our time is up for this week's edition of Continental Championship Wrestling, please make sure you join us here next week as well as on the USA Network as we'll be presenting matches from the David Von Erich Memorial tag team tournament, live from Texas!" © 1986 Continental Championship Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions

Twin States Wrestling 'GULF COAST CLASH' Gulf Coast Convention Center Biloxi, Mississippi Sunday January 31, 1986 Bell Time: 4pm Joe Pedicino welcomes everyone to what he says will be the final show "under the Twin States banner" as this week the transition will be made to Continental Championship Wrestling. He announces that the Twin States Championship will remain and a new Continental Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in the coming weeks. Rematch "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski pinned Ricky Gibson with a small package and a handful of tights Grudge Match George Barnes w/Lord Jonathan Boyd vs. Jeff Jarrett w/Bill Dundee The match started out with Jarrett getting in a couple of quick armdrags on Barnes, and then hitting him with a dropkick that sent Barnes out to the floor…and got the crowd solidly behind young Jarrett. Barnes slowly reenters the ring and as Jeff goes to lock up with him Barnes hits him with a stiff headbutt that legit busts his nose and it immediately starts to pour blood…..Jarrett is clearly rattled and Barnes takes him down to the mat and starts to stretch him for a few minutes. Barnes suddenly just lets him go and gets up and starts to stomp him from head to toe similar to the 'Garvin Stomp'. Jarrett crawls to the corner where Dundee tries to wipe away the blood with a towel and tells Jarrett to give it up and fight another day…..but Barnes grabs him by the leg and drags him back to the center of the ring. Barnes straddles him and starts punching him right over the eye busting it open as well…Jarrett is nearly out at this point, Barnes locks him in a 'Boston Crab' but Jarrett refuses to give up as the blood pours from his face…finally as Jarrett is not moving, Dundee throws in the towel to end this massacre! USWA Southern Junior Heavyweight Championship 30 Minute Time Limit- Rematch Scott Armstrong vs. Chicky Starr After about 28 minutes of scientific wrestling and both men being cheered by the fans, Scott went for a superkick, Chicky ducked and Scott caught the referee with it by accident. Scott bent down to try and revive the referee, Chicky came up from behind and kicked Armstrong in the nuts as hard as he could sending Scott crumbling to the mat….Chicky covered Armstrong and shook the referee who managed to roll over and barely count to three…..we have a new USWA Southern Junior Heavyweight Champion and the fans are booing Starr all the way back down the aisle as he holds the belt high over his head! Tag Team Challenge Match The Dynamite Duo (Brickhouse Brown/Norvell Austin) w/Iceman Parsons fought The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) w/Lord Jonathan Boyd to a double countout in a wild brawl that involved all six men which continued up the aisle and back to the dressing room area Gulf Coast Heavyweight Championship "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie w/Frank Morrell & Slick vs. Terry Taylor Before the match begins, Les Thatcher comes out and announces that Bad News Allen has been escorted out of the building by police to make sure he does not interfere in the match OR the USWA World title match later tonight…though it was not sure which side he would be interfering against after last night's tv endning… Fergie was apprehensive as usual and Taylor controled the first part of the match until Morrell distracted the referee allowing Slick to trip Taylor as he was coming off the ropes. Bob Armstrong came down to ringside and knocked Frank Morrell on his butt, then grabbed Slick by the collar and dragged him back down the aisle away from the ring…..Fergie's advantage from the trip didn't last long as he was distracted by Slick being dragged away….Taylor recovers and ends up landing the 'five arm' on Fergie….Taylor covers for the 1---2---WHAM! A bottle shatters over the head of Terry Taylor as GERRY MORROW just slid in the ring out of nowhere and busts a champagne bottle over the head of Taylor causing the ref to call for the DQ, Fergie loses but retains the Gulf Coast Championship thanks to his new tag team partner! As Taylor is rolling around on the canvas holding his head, Morrow helps Fergie up off the mat and raises his hand as if he'd won, this brings 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong charging back down to the ring as Fergie/Morrow quickly powder out! FIRST BLOOD MATCH The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink in a wild first blood match when Danny Davis managed to bust open Moondog Spot with his own bone that he brings to the ring….however after the match, the Moondogs attacked the Nightmares with chairs and left them laying….and bleeding BUNKHOUSE MATCH Blackjack Mulligan w/Kendall Windham pinned Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink with the claw after a brutal and bloody match…..After the match, Mulligan locked Humperdink in the claw hold as well….until the Moondogs came back out and attacked Mulligan/Windham with chairs…Khan joined in as well and they ended up leaving both Mulligan and Kendall laid out SEMI-MAIN EVENT USWA World Championship Terry Funk vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong The challenger Bob Armstrong makes his way out first to his signature ring music, "Bad to the Bone" as the fans in Biloxi go nuts…..moments later the USWA World Champion Terry Funk comes storming down the aisle swinging his branding iron and yelling at fans….he goes to the announcer's table and demands a microphone. Funk: "Bob Armstrong…you no good son of a bitch! You claim you wanted this….you claim you want to get your hands on me….well, apparently you have a short memory because the last time I came down here to this pissbucket of a state…I beat up you! I beat up all of your sissy sons who can't wrestle and left with my head held high….so if you want more of the same, stay your ass in that ring and I'll give it to you. But if you've got any sense at all, you'll take this opportunity to do that stupid looking knock knee'd dance of your's right back down that aisle and back home to your whore of a wi…" Before Funk could finish his sentence Armstrong jumped out of the ring and nailed him with a big right hand and tossed him into the ring as the referee called for the bell. The match starts out as a wild brawl in and out of the ring….but finally calms down a bit after about 4 minutes and starts to resemble a World title match. The match stays pretty back and forth, after about 16 minutes, Funk hits Armstrong with a piledriver but Armstrong kicks out! Funk is livid as he was convinced the match was over…Funk goes for another piledriver but Armstrong reverses it with a backdrop….Armstrong hits Funk with a flurry of punches and shoots Funk off the ropes and catches him with a sleeper! Funk is in trouble here….he goes to one knee…he's fading fast….the ref checks the arm….it goes down once…..ref checks it again…it goes down again….the ref checks it for the third and final time when suddenly…..WHAM! Armstrong gets blasted from behind with the branding iron by……DORY FUNK JR! The referee calls for the bell, it's going to be a DQ on the champ. Dory repeatedly beats Armstrong across the shoulder with the branding iron until Brad, Scott, and Steve Armstrong hit the ring causing the Funks to quickly retreat! MAIN EVENT SIX MAN STEEL CAGE MATCH If ANY of the Olympias lose, they must unmask and leave Twin States If Embry or Regal lose, they must get their head shaved and leave Twin States If Landel loses, he loses the Twin States title and leaves town Two Referees: Larry Brock and Special Enforcer Bruiser Brody will both be in the cage Mr. Olympia #1/#2/#3 vs. The Platinum Club (Buddy Landel/Eric Embry/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V. Thanks to special enforcer Bruiser Brody, the first 18 minutes of the match functioned as a somewhat normal six man tag team match…as Brody would get in the face of the heels whenever they tried to cheat…but finally at one point Olympia #1 had Landel in a headlock who fired him off into Brody causing their heads to collide and they both went down to the mat….at that point, everyone came in and broke into a huge brawl…..as Olympia #1/Brody tried to shake it off and get back to their feet….Olympia #3 went to the top rope and came off with a flying shoulder tackle on Landel and covered him for the pin when suddenly Olympia #2 dropped on elbow drop right on the back of Olympia #3's head and rolled Landel on top….Larry Brock counts 1-2-3!! The Platinum Club have won and they all including Olympia #2 swarm on Bruiser Brody and attack him, and then quickly exit the cage as Mr Olympia #1 and #3 start to recover. Outside the ring, Olympia #2 voluntarily removes his mask to reveal……MATT BORNE! Landel takes the mic. Landel: "I told you people that the 'Nature Boy' ALWAYS has a plan, now welcome the newest member of the Platinum Club, 'Maniac' Matt Borne! Now, we already know who the Olympia is that got pinned..but go ahead and take that mask off then get the hell outta this company…chump!" (Back inside the cage, Mr. Olympia #3 unmasks to reveal….DJ Peterson who will now be leaving Twin States….another microphone has been brought into the cage) Brody: "Buddy Landel, you bleach blond idiot! Savor this victory, boy! You just made a lifelong enemy out of Bruiser Brody and I won't stop until I take your title…and turn every strand of blond hair on your head….blood red!!" Olympia: "Matt Borne, you sell out….you traitor…..you better look over your shoulder everywhere you go because I'll make you pay for this if it's the last thing I ever do!"

Aww....Jerry Jarrett gives the belts back to Karachi Vice...which is perfect because it piles even MORE heat on them than they already had! Good stuff here! Wells is looking for revenge on Morrow next week for the bottle shot, Gerry might have to call in some favors! I love the format for establishing challengers for the TV title....though I'm not sure anyone is going to manage to get it away from St. Clair who has proven to be just as dominant of a TV champ here as Rick Martel was! Big Man Steel will be a big challenge size wise...but not sure he has the experience to take down St. Clair. I look forward to seeing Kamala/TNT/Lewin meet Johnson/Strong/Carlos in six man tag action! Funk manages to throw a little more gas on an already raging fire on the mic, I love it! Super D vs. the Spoiler is going to be fun to watch, not sure how the Spoiler will offset the advantage of Super D having Jones and the Devil's Duo behind him. Great debut for The Rose Cousins defeating the RPMS....and a solid performance on the mic as well, a great addition to the tag ranks here! Another fun episode of the Beauty Shop.....I like that Brenda acknowledged the remarks from "Alvin"...this is going to be a fun "feud" among the hosts! The Fabs as pissed....some people may think of them as pretty boys....but anybody who saw their wars in Memphis back in the day with the Moondogs and the Assassins know these guys get violent when pressed....the Stud Stable may regret their actions! I can't wait to see who this new KING is! HUGE TV MAIN EVENT!! I can only imagine how wrestling fans were glued to the screen for this one.....and then we get DUSTY PINNING FUNK!! I'm sure the ticket sales just surged for the DVEMTTT as soon as this show went off the air! onward to the house show! Powerage gets the win over Hard Knocks Nice win for BJS over TNT! Colon/Johnson get a win over Kamala/Lewin and then things breakdown for King Curtis and company......TNT gets taken out! Interesting development! Spoiler/Super D are just getting started! WOW...what a wild main event! Worth the price of admission all by itself! Fun times here in the USWA, great work!

We start off with bang this week as Percy Pringle has come home!! He's off to a fine start with the "Texas No Stars" line....as well as getting heat for downplaying the memorial trophy. The Pringle Dynasty will tough to beat with Rip Oliver and The Kansas Jayhawks by his side! The Wild Bunch are a force here in Texas! Rough and tough in the ring and great on the microphone! Bold prediction from Bart that any 2 of 'em could win the whole "Dadgum thing"...they're certainly over but with 31 other teams, it's really really tough to call. The suspense continues to build as the Luscious tease continues. The Highwaymen vs. The Glamour Boys is becoming one of the most established feuds in Texas that may never end! Killer Brooks calling him FAT Bart made me legit laugh out loud. Speaking of established feuds here.....The Wild Bunch vs. The "Killers" Gang may become this era of Texas' version of the Freebirds vs. Von Erichs! Al Madril raised the stakes once again with the Fiesta Garden with the "rat" comment towards Ms. Brenda! LOL. I loved the interview with Dusek...I like the way you're playing Madril with the his whole "What? What did I do?" attitude and the shit eating grin...and the fact he isn't confrontational throughout....he made Dusek let his guard down, then stuck him with the comment about the Richs lol. Then all hell breaks lose with the "Killer's Gang" and the Wild Bunch! Great stuff! Adias vs. Nagasaki for the TV title is a solid main event....but holy shit with Kendo's miscue of spraying the mist in the eyes of Akbar....I can't wait to see what the consequences are!

Are you serious right now Jerry Jarrett? First of all, Bob Armstrong is a no good yellow egg suckin' dog and the last time I went down to that area I whipped him and every one of his mongoloid sons to the point they shut the promotion down for months! As for Mr. Bad News….I hear you fancy yourself some kinda tough guy from Harlem, New York. I hear you think you're a real tough guy because you know judo….well Mr. Allen, I may not know judo….and I may not be from New York City but I'll tell you what I do know…and that's crazy…I will hit you with everything in that arena that's not nailed down and I will beat you just like I did the Armstrongs…..just like my brother and I will do 31 other teams in that tournament….and just like I'm going to do to big fat Dusty Rhodes….and you know why? Because I'm Terry G*****N Funk and I'm the USWA World Champion and there's not anybody in the USWA, Texas All Star, Twin States, or any other place they set up a wrestling ring that can beat me….and if you don't believe me….just come try me!" (END VTR) =================== (Back in the ring, "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski has the mic and says last week some young punk tried to answer his challenge but went down just like all the rest. Gibson accepts. ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== (Joe Pedicino is joined in the interview area by Bruiser Brody) Pedicino: "It's my pleasure to welcome the one and only Bruiser Brody to Twin States Wrestling, Brody…tomorrow night you'll be the special enforcer referee in a six man tag team Steel Cage Match that promises to be a very volatile situation." Brody: "You know something Joe…..I'm not experienced at being a referee…but as far as being an enforcer, I can definitely keep order inside that steel cage…..and while I personally can't stand Buddy Landel, I'll call this thing straight down the middle and NOBODY is going to pull any bull tomorrow night…I promise you that!" (with that Brody storms off) ==================== MATCH #7: MAIN EVENT USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament FINALS "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. Bad News Allen w/Slick Bad News enters the ring first……Bullet Bob makes his way down to the ring and as soon as he steps through the ropes the brawl is on! They fight in and out of the ring for several minutes with neither man getting a clear advantage…..until a distraction from Slick allows Bad News to take control of the match…after working over Armstrong for a few minutes, Bad News locks Armstrong in the cross armbar but Armstrong manages to make it to the ropes to for the break….Armstrong starts to make a comeback, when Carl Fergie comes down to the ring and jumps on the apron and calls the referee over, Bad News cuts off Armstrong and grabs his arms behind him….Slick comes in with the cane, and goes to hit Armstrong who ducks causing Slick to nail Bad News by mistake……Armstrong knocks Slick out of the ring and covers Bad News as the referee breaks free from Fergie to count 1-2-3!! Platt: "Armstrong gets the win and he'll be challenging Terry Funk for the USWA World title tomorrow night in Biloxi, Mississippi!" RPG: "Bad News is starting to get up and he's not going to be happy with Fergie and Slick!" Platt: "Join us tomorrow night in Biloxi for Gulf Coast Clash then join us next week for the return of Continental Championship Wrestling!" © 1986 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions
