  4. I lost my glasses last week so I'm having a hard time reading the font, but from what I can make out, all great stuff loved the TV main event with Patera running in Steamboat leading to the big tag match in Greensboro!
  5. Going to be spend some time going back through and catching up on Maple Leaf Wrestling, liking what I see so far!
  6. CWA Championship Wrestling TV From the WMC TV-5 Studios on Union Avenue in Memphis, TN. Airing live on WMC TV-5 at 10am cst on Saturday April 3, 1981 and on tape at various times on various stations throughout Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana, and Arkansas Sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance Announcers: Lance Russell & Dave Brown Referees: Jerry Calhoun, Paul Morton, and Tommy Marlin (The opening montage rolls and we go to the desk with Lance Russell and Dave Brown) Lance: "Helllooo everybody, Lance Russell and Dave Brown right along ringside for another BIG day of Championship Wrestling!" Dave: "A big night of action at the Mid South Coliseum last Monday night as Tojo Yamamoto's team of Onita and Fuchi managed to take the NWA Southern tag team titles away from the Dream Machine and 'Superstar' Bill Dundee under some very questionable circumstances to say the least." Lance: "That's putting it mildly, we'll show you some footage of that bout a little bit later on in the program here today, also last Monday night…'the King' was taking on Dory Funk Jr who got disqualified when he brought a bullwhip in the ring and starting choking Jerry with it in there, because of that…Lawler asked for a rematch this week and he wanted it to be a 'Southern Streetfight' but I'm told there's an announcement to be made about that match a little bit later on as well." Dave: "That's true, it has been confirmed that the 'King' will be in action today in our expiration of time main event as he'll be taking on an ally of Dory Funk Jr, 'Outlaw' Ron Bass." Lance: "Well that one should be a dandy for sure. We'll also be seeing 'the Dutchman', 'Dirty' Dutch Mantel defend his CWA Television title against big Phil Hickerson." Dave: "We'll be seeing the debut of one of the most bizarre wrestlers to ever step foot in a wrestling ring…the 'Exotic' Adrian Street will be in action today and we'll also be seeing the father/son team of 'Bullet' Bob and Brad Armstrong in there taking on Tony Falk and Sonny King." Lance: "Speaking of debuts, we're going to be seeing one of the most popular wrestlers in the United States today…the one and only Junkyard Dog. (loud cheers from the studio audience) All that and more so let's get to it, we're going to take a quick time and be back with our opening bout in just a moment." ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================= MATCH #1: "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda defeated Sammy Hall by submission with a 'Boston Crab' (Lance apprehensively invites Adrian over for an interview) Lance: "Well Mr Street, I must say I'm quite impressed with your in ring skills…that was a great win." Adrian: "Pardon me if I don't blush over that compliment coming from a guy who thinks this Jerry Lawler guy is the 'King of Wrestling', he wouldn't last five minutes in the rings I started in." Lance: "Be that as it may, I think you'll find the competition here in the CWA and throughout the National Wrestling Alliance to be more than formidiable." Adrian: "Well, I wouldn't count on that….I mean they've got me wrestling some chap called Cocoa Puff this Monday night." Lance: "It's Koko WARE and I can promise you that he will give you all you can handle in there for sure." Adrian: (winks) "Oh…well I do like the sound of that Mr. Russell…but I'm not sure that little Koko is ready for what he's got coming to him…..I'm going to make a statement in that ring on Monday night and that statement is……there's a new Queen in town….and he's quite exotic!" (prances away) ========================= Lance Russell runs down a list of upcoming events ========================= MATCH #2: "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong defeated Tony Falk/Sonny King when Bob put Falk down with a sleeperhold (Bullet Bob and Brad Armstrong come over to the desk) Lance: "Bob, it's good to have you back here in Memphis and we're excited to see you and your son Brad in action here." Bob: "Lancer, it's sure good to be back here and Monday night we've got a tall, tall task ahead of us in the Midnightt Express. I'm not sure if you're familiar with these guys but they are as tough as the day is long and will stoop to anything to get the win." Lance: "I'm not real familiar with Randy Rose but Dennis Condrey, we know all about and I've heard a lot about this Midnight Express from their exploits over in Southeastern, which I know you guys spent a lot of time there as well." Brad: "We sure did Mr. Russell and we've been in the ring with these guys many times….we know what they are all about but I promise you and all these great fans here in the CWA we're going to do our dead level best to beat these guys and to go after those Southern Tag Team titles that Tojo's Japanese team holds." Bob: "Take it easy, son. Let's not get ahead of ourselves…..let's deal with the Midnights…and then we'll look towards the titles. Thanks Lancer!" Lance: "Sound advice from Bullet Bob to Brad, let's take another time out and we'll be back in just a moment." ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== (As we return from the break, 'the King' is already at the desk with Lance) Lance: "Jerry, you've had some pretty tough battles with former NWA World Champion Dory Funk Jr as of late but last Monday night, he seemed to kinda go off the deep end when he attacked you with a bullwhip and choked you causing the referee to disqualify him." King: "Yeah, which is kinda out of character for Junior, he's usually more of a competitor than that….that's the kinda nonesense you'd expect out of his lunatic brother moreso than Dory." Lance: "It's funny you should mention that, I was told before we went on the air today that there was a tape sent in from Amarillo that you'd probably like to take a look at. So if I can get someone in the booth to please roll that for us now." (VTR- Terry Funk is wandering around the Double Cross Ranch with a camera following him) Terry: "Well hello there to all you egg suckin' dogs in Memphis! Jerry Lawler, I hope this video finds you ill you no good piece of ****! You are such a low life and a cheater that you drove my beloved brother who is one of the greatest technicians in the world, a straight up technical wrestler…..you with all your underhanded tactics and having the referees and promoters in your back pocket drove my poor brother over the edge and caused him to stoop to your level and get himself disqualified last week. So, I told him Junior, don't soil your hands and your reputation any further with this idiot, you let me go to Memphis and do what I do best! You see Lawler, I'm not a technical wrestler any more….I like to fight…I like to make people like you bleed and I would like nothing more than to come back to Memphis and kick your *** one more time. So, I asked Jerry Jarrett what kinda match I could get with you and he said how about a Southern Streetfight and I said you sign that match and I promise you it will be the last match that Jerry Lawler ever wrestles, so get ready Lawler….I'm coming to Memphis on Monday night and I'm not coming to win a match…..I'm coming to hurt you! I'm coming to end you….and I won't stop until I've done just that!! See you in Memphis, Lawler….you coward!!" (END VTR) King: "Awww, well look at that Lance, Dory Jr couldn't take the heat so he had to go get his goofy brother to come fight his battles for him. Well that's just fine, Terry….we've done this before and I'm not afraid to do it again in a match where I can pick up anything I can get my hands and bash your head in with it! A Southern Streetfight is right up my alley and if your brother or any of your buddies like this Ron Bass that'll I'll be facing later today want to try to get involved, I'll make sure to have people watching my back, I can assure you of that!" ====================== MATCH #3: CWA Television Championship "Dirty" Dutch Mantel pinned Phil Hickerson with a small package (As Mantel leaves the studio, Jimmy Hart and Wayne Ferris make their way out) Hart: "Lance Russell, tell me something baby, why is Dutch Mantel out here wrestling guys week in and week out that don't deserve a title shot when my man Wayne Ferris should be the one getting the shot at the television championship? Tell me why!…Dutch Mantel is ugly, he shouldn't even be allowed on television when Wayne Ferris looks like a star…..he looks like someone who should be on tv every week not that half shaved ape Dutch Mantel." Ferris: "I'll tell you exactly why Jimmy….because Dutch Mantel may be ugly, but he ain't stupid he knows that if he EVER put that title on the line against me that he'd soon be an ex champion." (Mantel comes back out) Mantel: "What are you out here babbling about? Listen, I've got no problem putting this title on the line against whoever Eddie Marlin says is a contender…..now I can't put the title on the line Monday night at the Mid South Coliseum because it's not on television, but I'll be more than happy to wrestle you and if you can beat me….I'll put the title on the line here on television next week." (Matchmaker Eddie Marlin comes out and says if Ferris agrees to the match then it will added to Monday's card, to which Jimmy Hart agrees to before Ferris can respond) ======================= Lance Russell runs down the card for this Monday night CWA Championship Wrestling Mid South Coliseum Memphis, Tennessee Monday April 5, 1981 Bell Time: 7:30pm MAIN EVENT NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship Southern Streetfight Jerry 'the King' Lawler vs. Terry Funk SEMI-MAIN EVENT NWA Southern Tag Team Championship-Rematch Fuchi/Onita w/Tojo Yamamoto vs. Dream Machine/"Superstar" Bill Dundee Special Challenge Match Junkyard Dog vs. "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol w/Jimmy Hart "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong vs. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey/Randy Rose) "Dirty" Dutch Mantel vs. Wayne Ferris w/Jimmy Hart The Nightmares (#1/#2) w/Jimmy Hart vs. Eddie Gilbert/Stan Lane "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda vs. Koko Ware Steve Keirn vs. The Intern ========================== MATCH #4: Junkyard Dog pinned The Intern with a 'THUMP' powerslam After the match JYD is invited over to the desk by Lance, Dog says he's happy to be here in the CWA and says that he knows that when he faces Idol on Monday night he knows he's going to have to watch his back for Jimmy Hart……this brings out Jimmy Hart who gets in Dog's face and says that Austin Idol will destroy him in the ring……after some more trash talk, Hart slaps Dog across the face which prompts Dog to grab him by the throat and lift him up in the air but from out of nowhere, Idol runs in and hits JYD across the back with a steel chair causing him to drop Hart and fall to the floor…..Idol jabs the chair into the ribs of the Dog until the Armstrongs and Dutch Mantel run out to make the save! ========================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================== VTR: Highlights of last week's Southern Tag Team title match are shown where Tojo Yamamoto hit Dundee in the head with the kendo stick while the referee was putting Dream Machine out of the ring, allowing Onita to cover Dundee for the title win! ------------------------------------------ MATCH #6: NWA Southern Tag Team Champions Onita/Fuchi w/Tojo Yamamoto defeated Buddy/Ken Wayne when Onita pinned Ken after a knee drop from the top rope. After the match Onita/Fuchi continued to attack the Waynes as Tojo came in and started to beat on Ken with his kendo stick until Dream Machine and Bill Dundee hit the ring with kendo sticks of their own and went to town cracking Onita, Fuchi, AND Tojo until they fled the studio as the crowd goes wild! ============================ COMMERCIAL BREAK ============================ MATCH #7: MAIN EVENT Jerry 'the King' Lawler pinned "Outlaw" Ron Bass with a school boy roll up in 8:32 Lance Russell announces that there's only two minutes left in the show so there won't be time for another fall, but as he's saying that Dory Funk Jr hits the ring and attacks Lawler from behind, as Lawler starts to fight back, Bass recovers and joins in for the two on one…..just then PLOWBOY FRAZIER come through the curtain and enters the ring to make the save as the show goes off the air
  7. I always thought JYD would have been perfect for Memphis, a brawler who's more style than substance....however you're dead on with Dibiase, I'm hoping he can even things out with some great wrestling to help train the Memphis fans to appreciate something besides brawling and gimmicks....lol

  9. CWA picks up One Man Gang and Tony Falk.
  10. Both solid cards for sure, I would lean towards the Spartanburg card overall but Piper/Steamboat vs. The Andersons would make me want to drive to Charleston as well! Good stuff!
  11. I've written the first Mid South Coliseum show and the first week's house show loops but I'm going to write and post my first TV this weekend.
  12. CWA picks up Rick Casey (Wendell Cooley) and King Cobra
  13. CWA sends Hacksaws Butch Reed and Jim Duggan to MACW for Bob Orton and Ron Bass.
  14. CWA picks up Don Bass and Phil Hickerson and drops Nelson Royal.
  15. LOL Sounds like RL Memphis.
  16. My bad, I meant to post the Spoiler but a Mr Wrestling 2 match was on the TV at the time I posted this lol. Sorry bout that.
  17. Memphis picks up Jos Leduc and The Spoiler
  18. Memphis picks up Nelson Royal and Ted Allen
  19. CWA would like to book Terry Funk on April 5th and 12th
  20. Memphis picks up Norvell Austin and Ms. Linda.
  21. Thumbs up from me!
  22. Wow, the Brigade becomes even more impressive. Happy to see Bigelow as the new TV champ.
  23. Nice change of pace with Dark Journey opening the show…..Tatum and Victory challenge The Wild Bunch to a title match…considering the roll that the Wild Bunch has been on….I hope this doesn't backfire on them! Great promo to set up the match from Tatum and Victory! Well shit….it backfired! The good news is….after the big victory in the tournament, Irwin winning the TV title, and now Bart/Bass winning the tag titles…these guys have to be super OVER in Texas! DJ Peterson is back! Looking forward to seeing what's in store for him this time around. WOW, after a LONG tease recently LUSCIOUS is here and it certainly lived up to the hype! You did a great job of painting the picture of the entire scene. Luscious Lanny along with Man and Woman is going to make a lot of waves, not only here in Texas but across the USWA, I'm sure. Fiesta Garden delivers as always, loved the interaction between Madril and Pringle. Rip Oliver is a great contender for the TV title and with Pringle in his corner, he might just take it. Great Main Event…..look like Casey has 'El Jefe' put to bed when the Cartel hit the ring…..Sam Houston has arrived which will be a great help to the Gunslingers who are often finding themselves outnumbered. Another great show! I look forward to seeing who steps up to face 'Luscious' Lanny Poffo and his entorouge.
  24. The happening is going to be exactly that….it was already shaping up to be a huge card but now with Dusty vs. Funk for the USWA World title, it's definetely a can't miss event! Adrenaline Rush vs. Harts Afire is another match I'll be looking forward to at the Happening! So far the Stud Stable has managed to stay a step ahead of the Fabulous Ones in this feud and they've struck here once again! Mid America Champ Rocky Johnson says he's looking forward to facing Gerry Morrow but he better beware because the "Champagne" man I'm sure has a few tricks up his sleeve this time around. Kendo Nagasaki is proving to be a very solid addition to King Curtis' stable….Billy Jack is getting aquanted with that kendo stick The "King" has arrived! I had a feeling Roy Lee was going to be the King here….Ironically, I was just watching some old Continental this past week on youtube and saw a segment where they had a Ronald Reagan voice impersonator putting over Welch, great stuff. I loved the "win one for the Gipper" line as well. I can only imagine the kind of heat this gimmick would generate in Memphis especially with Lawler not being here to confront him! This should be a lot of fun! As if I didn't already think Morrow was a great man of high moral standards, he's reaching out to his friend Carl Fergie in his time of need….I look forward to seeing things play out here! Excited to see the Kansas Jayhawks here, it just feels right but they instantly find themselves on the wrong side of the Karachi Vice! This should make for some wild matches! Can El Canek be the man to dethrone St. Clair?? Maybe, maybe not but either way it should make for a helluva match! WOW, Jerry Jarrett with some BOMBSHELL announcements for the Happening!! The six man steel cage elimination match will be madness considering those involved! Then Dick Slater returns to be involved in a STEEL CAGE TAPED FIST TORNADO STREET FIGHT teaming with the Fabs against the Fullers and Tully Blanchard!! That's going to be a off the charts!! The stakes are high in the 'Mask vs. Mask' match with Spoiler taking on Super D….hard to say which way that is going to go! On to Freedom Hall…….. Stomper vs. Kamala would be worth the price of admission alone! Batte of the Monsters! Kamala gets the win thanks to some help from King Curtis! South Pacific Connection is a great tream but I'd be lying if I said I'm not pulling for the Beasts of Burden! Nice win for Curt Hennig over Keith Hart, even with the "Duker" by his side the "Great" Gagne didn't want any…lol. OH MY GOD what a MAIN EVENT!! Unbelievable star power here in a match I'm sure sold even more tickets to 'The Happening' Great stuff as always!
  25. Continental Championship Wrestling Episode #6 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday March 6, 1986 on the USA Network at 1pm From: Huntsville, Alabama Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Continental Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from throughout the Continental United States sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome to Continental Championship Wrestling, I'm Charlie Platt alongside Ronnie P. Gossett, and if you're a new viewer joining us for the first time here on the USA Network we'd like to welcome you and if you're a long time fan, thanks for tuning in here on our new network and time." RPG: "That’s right, just sit back and enjoy the expert analysis of the greatest color commentator in pro wrestling today and please excuse the man I call, Charlie 'at least he's not Marc Lowrance' Platt." Platt: "Marc Lowrance is a great announcer and is now a colleague of our's so please show him some respect." RPG: "I'm not being disrespectful, I’m just saying Marc Lowrance has put more people to sleep in Texas than the death penalty." Platt: "Good grief…moving on, we have a great show in store for you tonight as we'll be crowning our new Continental Heavyweight Champion tonight as the winner of last week's tournament Nick Bockwinkel will face the final Twin States Champion Buddy Landel." RPG: "I can't wait to see 'the Nature Boy' beat that geezer Nick Bockwinkel and send him to the old folks home where he belongs!" Platt: "Geezer? Are you referring to the man who defeated Tommy Rich, Tatsumi Fujinami, AND Dory Funk Jr all in the same day to win the tournament?" RPG: "I wasn't there so I don't know any of that to be true…..I'm sure he cheated, if it even happened at all." Platt: "We're also going to see the television debut match of the rookie Jeff Jarrett, Tim Horner will be in action, and not only all that…we're going to see The Nightmares take on the Moondogs with Sir Oliver Humperdink inside a steel cage!" RPG: "Sir Oliver Humperdink told me that he's sick and tired of dealing with the Nightmares and if the Moondogs don't beat them in this cage match he's going to fire them!" Platt: "I almost forgot to mention that you'll be talking to Chicky Starr about what took place last week with Carl Fergie." RPG: "You don't want to miss that…..I promise you!" ================== MATCH #1: "White Lightning" Tim Horner pinned Ray Purchase with the 'natural bridge' ================== (Joe Pedicino is in the back with the Platinum Club- Buddy Landel, Matt Borne, Eric Embry, and Steve Regal) Pedicino: "I'm here with the Platinum Club and I can't help but notice that Johnny V is nowhere to be found." Borne: "You won't be seeing him around here anymore because he cost me my shot at the Continental title and he has screwed up time and time again…and there's not going to be anymore screw ups in the Platinum Club!" Embry: "I liked Johnny…did we really have to throw him out?" Regal: "Yeah, he helped me and Embry out a lot…I think that…" (Borne interrupts) Borne: (gets in Regal's face) "I don't care what you THINK Regal because you haven't exactly been doing so hot yourself lately….seems like every time we lose it's your shoulders on the mat!" (Landel gets between them) Landel: "Let's calm down and focus on what's important here….ME winning that Continental title tonight against Bockwinkel….now, in the future Borne, I would like to be consulted before you haul off and attack folks and kick them out of the group, because now I don't have a manager tonight in this title match which would have been helpful." Borne: "Well do you really want one that could screw up and cost you the match like he did me?" Embry: "Good news champ! I went out this week and got myself a manager's license so I'll be your manager tonight…and everynight for that matter." Borne: "Did you not hear what I JUST SAID about screw ups?" Regal: "Embry is not a screw up!" (getting in Borne's face/Landel steps in again) Landel: "Cool your jets kids…..Embry, you're in…but don't you dare do anything to cost me this match. Borne….Regal…get it together…you guys have a six man tonight. Don't embarrass us." (walks away) Borne: (Sneers looking at Regal) "Just stay outta my way!" ================== (Back at the announce desk) Platt: "Wow…I've never seen Landel so serious." RPG: "He means business and there's no way in hell Bockwinkel walks out with that belt tonight." ================== MATCH #2: Handicap Match The Mighty Goliath w/Downtown Bruno pinned Eddie Wilson/Curley Jefferson when Goliath stacked Wilson on top of Jefferson and gave them both a big splash =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== (Joe Pedicino is in the locker room of Nick Bockwinkel) Pedicino: "First of all Nick, congrats on winning that tournament..that was quite an impressive showing." Bockwinkel: "It was a long day for sure, but I hope that silences everyone who is ill informed enough to think that I'm past my prime, I beat three of the best wrestlers in the world that day and tonight I'm walking out of here the Continental Champion!" Pedicino: "I know last week you had some words with Buddy Landel, I just spoke with him earlier and he seems more serious and focused than we've ever seen him." Bockwinkel: "Well, how big of him to finally take something serious rather than treat this like some second rate comedy show with his fat friend out there. Perhaps he realizes now that he's on a national cable network and the stakes are high….this isn't a joke and I'm not here to have fun! I'm here to wrestle and win championships….and that's exactly what I intend to do here tonight. Mr. Landel can take it seriously or he can be the usual jackass that you've all come to know and despise but either way I'm leaving here your Continental Heavyweight Champion tonight and that Mr Pedicino is a fact whether Mr Landel likes it or not." ------------------------------ (back at the desk) RPG: "Who is this 'fat' friend he's referring to?" Platt: "Well I can only assume…." RPG: "You know what they say happens when you assume……you can get punched in the face." Platt: "Then I guess we may never know who Buddy Landel's fat friend is….Anyway, coming up next week our main event will be a 'Bunkhouse Match' between Blackjack Mulligan and Killer Khan! Then the following week, we will have a 10 man Gauntlet Match to crown the first ever Continental USA Network Television Champion, here's a shot of the brand new belt and we'll find out next week who those ten competitors will be." =================== MATCH #3: Jeff Jarrett pinned Ronnie Jenkins after a dropkick from the 2nd rope Post match attack from Barnes and Boyd, save from Street & Dundee =================== (VTR: We go to what appears to be a fancy restaurant as Ronnie P. Gossett, Chicky Starr, and Hercules Ayala are sitting around a table) RPG: "Chicky, this is a pretty swanky place….thanks for inviting me." Chicky: "Nothings too good for you, amigo. It's my pleasure, please…order anything your heart desires, it's on me." (Camera obviously cuts to after they've ordered) RPG: "How generous, thank you so much. So…tell me…how long were you planning what you pulled on 'Mr. Money', it was genius….I wish I had thought of it first!" Chicky: (laughs) "Well, first of all…it's just Carl now…no more Mr. Money….well, except for me….from now on you can call me 'Senor Dinero'. As for how long did it take? Not long honestly…..I could see Slick and Bad News were working on doing something similar but weren't smart enough to pull it off so I approached them and offered to pay them to help me out." RPG: "So, are you guys allies now?" Chicky: "Not exactly…..you see with this money I have started up a new Starr Corporation. Of course, you have myself and my right hand man and one man security detail, Hercules Ayala. Now, next week I will be introducing you to two more members of the Starr Corporation. No, it's not going to be Slick and Bad News….they are not members….more like associates if you will. If I see they can help me, I will pay them for their services otherwise, they are of no use to me." RPG: "Good call, I like it. That being said, what's on the Starr Corporation's agenda right now?" Chicky: "Gold, amigo…we want all the gold! (holds up his U.S. Jr title belt) We've got this one already, when I introduce my two new members next week, you'll see they are after the tag team titles, we'll also be looking to take that new USA Network Television title….however, what we really wanted was that Continental title…and we'll get it soon enough….however that lunatic Bruiser Brody cost us that opportunity for now….so that puts Mr. Brody as number one on our hit list….and that's not somewhere ANYONE wants to be…(the waiter arrives with the food)...but enough business talk…the food is here." RPG: (raises his glass) "To the Starr Corporation! Best of luck in all your endeavors." Chicky: (Slipping a roll of hundred dollar bills in Gossett's jacket pocket) "A little something for your trouble Amigo, thank you for taking the time to speak with us." (END VTR) ------------------------------- Platt: "So now I see why you've been singing the praises of Chicky Starr ever since we got to the arena today, you're bought and paid for." RPG: "No I'm not, you heard what he said, that was just a little something for my trouble…I should get a pocketful of money everytime I have to sit out here with you, that's real trouble. Having lunch with 'Senor Dinero' was an absolute delight." Platt: "Oh come on….you would eat with Charles Manson if he was picking up the tab." RPG: "How dare you!" Platt: "Let's go to the ring, and see your former buddies the Platinum Club in action." RPG: "They're still my buddies….I mean…I'm objective…I don't have any buddies in the ring." =================== MATCH #4: The Platinum Club (Matt Borne/Eric Embry/Steve Regal) defeated Randy Watson/Frank Reynolds/Roy Munson when Borne pinned Munson after a splash off the top rope….things went pretty smooth but there were a couple of intense moments/stiff tags between Borne and Regal during the match. =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #5 SEMI-MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink This one was a wild brawl and quite the bloodbath to be a part of the USA Network debut. After several minutes, Rex grabbed Ken Wayne and held him as Humperdink pitched the bone over the top of the cage to Spot who got a running start to blast Wayne who ducked causing Spot to lay out Rex with the bone instead…..As Spot tried to check on Rex, Wayne hit him from behind with a low blow as Davis climbed to the top of the cage and came off with a flying legdrop, Wayne covers for the 1-2-3….as Humperdink throws his hands in the air and walks out before the three count is even completed. ================= Local promos for this week's spot shows ================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ================= As we go to the ring for the main event, Buddy Landel is led down the aisle by his new manager Eric Embry who is wearing an ill fitting tuxedo with a large cumberbun, carrying a book that he holds up to the camera titled, 'the One Minute Manager'. Embry smiles wide and points to his head signifying he's some sort of genius….Landel looks annoyed…..Bockwinkel makes his way down the aisle looking cool, calm, and collected. --------------------------- MATCH # MAIN EVENT Continental Heavyweight Championship Nick Bockwinkel - Tournament Winner vs. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel - Final Twin States Champions w/"The Exceptional Intellectual" Eric Embry The bell rings and the two top contenders to the championship meet in the center of the ring and they seem to be having a few words back and forth until Bockwinkel snatches a headlock and the match is underway. Bockwinkel gets the better of Landel in the first couple of exchanges leading Landel to roll out of the ring and to confer with Embry who frantically starts flipping through pages of his book before Buddy slaps it out of his hands and whispers something to him….Embry nods as Landel rolls back into the ring at the 8 count. Embry jumps up on the apron….which distracts Bockwinkel for a moment…long enough for Landel to blindside him and take control. After staying in control for several minutes, Landel goes for his big corkscrew elbow drop but Bockwinkel gets out of the way and starts to make his comeback….Bockwinkel has Landel rocking for a few moments then he locks him into a sleeper….Landel appears to be in trouble….but he pushes backward as hard as he can knocking Bockwinkel into the referee and breaking the hold and now all three are down! Matt Borne comes running down to ringside but before he can intefere, Mr. Olympia catches him and they begin to brawl around ringside. With the referee still down, Embry enters the ring and is quickly joined by Steve Regal, Embry grabs Bockwinkel as he's getting up off the mat and holds him up….Regal reaches into his tights and pulls out some powder and pours it into his hand…he tosses it but Bockwinkel ducks and the powder goes into the eyes of Embry, Embry is rolling around on the mat holding his eyes….by now Landel is back to his feet, he grabs Bockwinkel from behind…..and Regal reaches into his trunks again and this time he comes out with a chain, he wraps the chain around his fist and climbs up to the 2nd turnbuckles and jumps off but Bockwinkel moves again…and Regal accidently blasts Landel with the chain!! Bockwinkel dropkicks Regal out of the ring and covers Landel…as the referee manages to crawl over and count 1…2…3!! The winner and new Continental Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel! RPG: "What has that idiot Regal done??" Platt: "I don't know about Regal, but I can tell you what Nick Bockwinkel has done….he's won the Continental Championship!" RPG: "This is a disgrace! I hate Bockwinkel! I'm not watching this!" (Gossett tosses down his headphones and storms away from the desk) Platt: "There you have it fans, Ronnie P.
