Monday August 30, 1986 Bell Time: 7pm NWA UNITED STATES JUNIOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Armstrong pinned "Luscious" Lanny Poffo w/Woman & Man with a small package to retain the title, a stunned Poffo quickly regained his composure after being pinned and after went over to shake Armstrong's hand…..Poffo when raised Armstrong's hand in victory then clotheslined him and went on the attack locking in the 'PAINacle' as the referee pleaded for him to release the hold! NWA CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP-REMATCH Terry Taylor/Tom Zenk defeated The Electric Blondes ("Crippler" Rip Oliver/"Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal) w/Dark Journey when Zenk pinned Regal following a dropkick off the top rope NWA SOUTHEASTERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Bull Rope Match "Outlaw" Ron Bass w/Ronnie P. Gossett & Duke Myers defeated "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley with interference from Duke Myers to retain the title LOSER OF THE FALL LEAVES CONTINENTAL Bob/Brad Armstrong vs. Johnny/Tommy Rich This match was one of the most anticipated matches on the card based on the reaction of the fans who "boo'd" the Richs mercilessly when they came to the ring for the match and went wild when the Armstrongs made their way out to 'Bad to the Bone'. At one point the referee got knocked down which brought Davey Rich running down to ringside to try and interfere but he was quickly cut off by Steve Armstrong who ran down and made the save…..Davey and Steve fought at ringside while Brad was in the ring fighting with Johnny, and Bob was in the ring fighting with Tommy. Brad locked Johnny into a figure leglock, while Bob locked Tommy into a sleeperhold….but there's no referee…..this brought Peggy Rich down to ringside, Ms. Peggy was in a neckbrace and not getting around too good as one could imagine…..she came over to ringside to try and wake the referee seemingly to help the Armstrongs get the win….after trying to shake the referee…..Peggy had apparently shook him too hard as she was suddenly clutching him neck…..seeing this, Bob released the sleeper and came over to check on Ms. Peggy who suddenly reached into her purse and pulled out a can which she sprayed into the eyes of Bob Armstrong….Armstrong fell backwards clutching his eyes! Peggy screamed at Tommy who crawled over and covered Bob Armstrong, Peggy shook the referee violently who now started to stir and make the three count……1-2-3! Your winners are Johnny & Tommy Rich! Thanks to Peggy Rich!! The fans are livid!! They are throwing things at the Richs as they quickly retreat! BUNKHOUSE MATCH "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes pinned Blackjack Mulligan after a bionic elbow from the 2nd turnbuckle to get the win! SEMI-MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP "Dr. Death" Steve Williams/Ted Dibiase defeated The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) when Dibiase pinned Hickerson with his feet on the ropes MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP RUSSIAN CHAIN/I QUIT MATCH Nikita Koloff vs. Magnum T.A. A hard hitting brutal affair from the moment these two were chained together and the bell rang. Ivan Koloff was barred from the building so were promised a one on one encounter. Magnum looked good in the early part of the bout but after a while, the champion was firmly in control using his "Russian Chain" to his advantage but no matter how much the big Russian brutalized Magnum, he would not utter the words 'I Quit'! Both men were a bloody mess after about 14 minutes of action….Nikita landed a 'Russian Sickle' on Magnum but couldn't get him to submit, Nikita charged in for another sickle but Magnum side stepped him wrapping the chain around Koloff's neck as his momentum took him over the top rope…..Magnum has the big man hung over the top rope….he won't submit but eventually the big Russian passes out…..the referee checks his arm as if goes down three times…..the referee has to stop the match and award the title to MAGNUM T.A.!!

MONGOLIAN STRETCHER MATCH Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeated Tatsumi "The Dragon" Fujinami after once again spewing the green mist in his eyes then coming off the top rope with a knee to his throat…..not once…..but TWICE. Gossett Even though this match was not officially a street fight or anything of the sort the referee allowed a lot of leeway knowing all the bad blood involved….eventually the referee got knocked down and all hell broke loose everyone ended up fighting on the floor except Magnum T.A. and Jerry Stubbs…..from out of nowhere a HUGE muscular man wearing what appeared to be a 'Mr. Olympia' mask slid into the ring and leveled Magnum with what could only be described as a 'Russian Sickle'. Stubbs made the cover as the masked man made a quick exit as the ref finally recovered just in time to count down Magnum for the 1-2-3! Gossett's crew gets a HUGE win going into Beach Brawl!
  5. IN HOPES OF NOT GETTING ANY FURTHER BEHIND, I'M GOING TO POST LAST WEEK'S TV AND MONDAY NIGHT SHOW.......WE'LL SAY TV WAS PREMPTED THIS WEEK AND THEN I'LL POST BEACH BRAWL.......THEN HOPEFULLY I CAN MANAGE TO GO THROUGH AND READ EVERYONE ELSE'S SHOWS AND GET CAUGHT UP ON FEEDBACK OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.....THANKS! (BTW, Covid sucks, I don't recommend it to anyone) ====================================================== Continental Championship Wrestling TV Saturday August 21, 1986 Hosted by Gordon Solie Ring Announcer: Freddie Miller Interviewer: Joe Pedicino From the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama (The opening montage plays set to the tune of the instrumental version of Eddie Murphy's 'Party All the Time', we then go to the podium to world renown wrestling commentator, Gordon Solie) Solie: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance, I'm Gordon Solie and we have a great show in store for you this week as we're just one week away from Beach Brawl '86 and we'll have some major announcements this week as it pertains to that event. We have a great main event for you here this week as we'll see one half of the Continental tag team champions Terry Taylor taking on one half of the team who will challenge for the belts this Monday after winning last week's battle royal, "The Crippler" Rip Oliver with Dark Journey. Right now, let's go to the ring for our opening bout." ======================= MATCH #1: Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink pinned Randy Watson following a knee drop from the 2nd rope Post Match: Humperdink tells Joe Pedicino that this Monday night, Killer Khan will take on Tatsumi Fujinami in a 'Mongolian Stretcher Match' and that this will be the end for the 'Dragon' once and for all!' ======================= (VTR- A furious Bob Armstrong is once again shown outside his home) Armstrong: "I've been in the wrestling business a very long time and nobody and I mean NOBODY has ever disrespected my family and myself like Tommy Rich has! Tommy Rich, just take a moment and think about how much I have to hate your guts to pay a hundred grand to get my hands on you. Now, Les Thatcher has given me the week off and told me not to come to any of the arenas and to save it until Beach Brawl but Tommy, I promise you and your cousin Johnny you two are going to get the beating of your lives In Biloxi! But make no mistake Tommy, YOU are the one that Brad and I are going to focus on pinning or submitting and sending you out of the NWA once and for all! See you at the beach….boys!" ======================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================== MATCH #2: The Dirty White Boys (Tony Anthony/Len Denton) defeated Parker Williams/Buck Spivey when Anthony pinned Williams after a clothesline to the back of the head Post Match- The DWBs told Joe Pedicino that they are focused on winning the four corners match this Monday night to get a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Champions at Beach Brawl but make no mistake, they will be sure to get them a piece of Sato/Goto in the process! ======================== (We cut to Gordon Solie who is being joined by Tommy, Johnny, and Davey Rich) Solie: "Well….it's a day that I had hoped would never come…..I'm joined once again by Tommy 'Wildfire' Rich along with his cousins Johnny and Davey Rich." Tommy: (laughing) "Aww, come on Gordon you hurtin' my feelings saying stuff like that. Let me just say first of all, it's good to be back here with my cousins….and once we get these Armstrongs dealt with…Terry Taylor and Tom Zenk, we'll be coming for OUR belts that we never lost!" Johnny: "Damn right, the only way they could get those belts away from us was to suspend you over something that was none of the promotion's business so they could strip the belts off of us." Solie: "None of the promotion's business??" Tommy: "No it wasn't Gordon Solie, that was family business….nothing for Les Thatcher and Bill Watts to concern themselves with!" Solie: "I beg to differ….you applied a piledriver to a woman on the Continental television show, I would say that makes it their business, we could have been kicked off the air or lost sponsors over that." Tommy: "I'm sorry Gordon…..I didn't know this show was live??" Johnny: "Exactly! Continental didn't have to air that if they were so worried about sponsors….they wanted to show it! So, we don't want to hear that crap!" Tommy: "Enough about that….that's in the past….but speaking of losing sponsors and getting kicked off the air….it's a good thing Beach Brawl won't be televised because I promise you the acts of violence we commit against Bob and Brad Armstrong in Biloxi is going to make me piledriving Peggy Rich look like an episode of A Little House on the Prairie! We're going to hurt them two and send one of them packing for good! Hey, but before we get to Beach Brawl…this Monday night, 'Dangerous' Davey Rich…the most violent Rich of us all…is going to take the U.S. Jr title from little Scotty Armstrong just to set the stage for Beach Brawl!" Solie: "That remains to be seen but I'm afraid we're out of time for this interview so let's go now and take a look at Monday night's card for Dothan, Alabama." Continental Championship Wrestling Houston County Farm Center Dothan, Alabama Monday August 23, 1986 Bell Time: 7:30pm MAIN EVENT EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM MATCH "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes Magnum T.A. vs. "Mr. Continental" Jerry Stubbs "Outlaw" Ron Bass Blackjack Mulligan Duke Myers w/Ronnie P. Gossett SEMI-MAIN EVENT NWA CONTINENTAL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Terry Taylor/Tom Zenk vs. The Electric Blondes ("Crippler" Rip Oliver/"Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal) w/Dark Journey MONGOLIAN STRETCHER MATCH Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. Tatsumi "The Dragon" Fujinami FOUR CORNERS MATCH Winners get a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles next Monday night at Beach Brawl '86 The Dirty White Boys (Tony Anthony/Len Denton) vs. Akio Sato/Tarzan Goto w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) vs. The Hangmen (Bobby Jaggers/Dirty Rhodes) NWA UNITED STATES JR. HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Scott Armstrong vs. "Dangerous" Davey Rich LUSCIOUS LANNY'S PLEASUREDOME CHALLEGE "Luscious" Lanny Poffo w/Woman & Man vs. Whoever accepts the challenge Surfs Up ("California Kid" Allen West/"Surfer" Ray Odyssey) vs. "The Winner" Johnny Rich/"Wildfire" Tommy Rich w/Davey Rich Steve Armstrong vs. The Spoiler w/Dark Journey ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================= (As we return from commercial break Joe Pedicino calls Dark Journey out to the interview area…..the song 'Electric Avenue' plays as Dark Journey leads out "The Crippler" Rip Oliver and "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal, both men are wearing fancy blue ring jackets with gold lightning bolts on them with matching trunks, The Spoiler is following behind them as well) Joe: "First of Dark Journey, I guess I should congratulate your team of Rip Oliver and Steve Regal on winning last week's battle royal to earn a tag team title shot this week in Dothan." DJ: "First things first Pedicino, from now on you will refer to his team as 'the Electric Blondes' and after Monday night, you'll refer to them as the Continental Tag Team Champions." Rip: That's right, Terry Taylor is going to get just a little taste of what's coming Monday night just a little bit later in this TV show, we're taking home the gold and that's all there is to it!" DJ: "Speaking of taking home gold….The Spoiler has been racking up wins everywhere that Continental goes but yet he's barely had any title matches….so we're calling out that paper champion Buddy Landel, right now! We want a shot at your title and we want it on this show next week!" Joe: "Wow, ok we'll see what Buddy Landel has to say about that. Let's go back to the ring!" ============================ MATCH #3: The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) defeated Ray Purchase/Howard Moon when Duncum pinned Moon after a powerslam As the referee is raising the hands the Highwaymen, The Hangmen (Bobby Jaggers/Dirty Rhodes) hit the ring and attack the Highwaymen……quickly followed by Akio Sato/Tarzan Goto who are seemingly attacking both teams….but only for a moment as the Dirty White Boys hit the ring and all four teams are going at it! Solie on commentary: "This has quickly gotten out of hand as all four teams who will be in the four corners match this Monday are all fighting each here…..it seems these Hangmen can't help themselves from attacking the Highwaymen whenever they see them and by the same token The Dirty White Boys and the Japanese team of Sato/Goto are constantly attacking each other back and forth….the question will be on Monday night, will these four teams blind hatred of each other hinder their chances of getting a shot at the World tag teams titles? We're going to try to restore order here, we'll be right back!" ============================== (VTR- Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A. are standing in front of a CCW backdrop) Dusty: "Dis Monday night, Magnum and myself are gonna team up with Buddy Landel and Wendell Cooley to take on Ronnie P. Gossett's so called men in an eight man tag team match if ya weel….and that's just fine, we'll get the job done as we always do. However, what I really wanna speak on is da Beach Brawl in Biloxi. Blackjack Mulligan, don't think because some time has passed that I've forgotten what you did to me….don't think I've forgotten what a backstabbin', low life egg suckin' dog you are! When you step into MY match..that's right baby, the Bunkhouse match is MY match! When you step into that Bunkhouse match wit da bull of da woods if ya weel……you gonna wish you had never crossed the Dream, unnastan? Now Mag, tell 'em what you gonna do to that big Russian Nightmare." Magnum: "Let's make one thing clear, I'm not underestimating Nikita Koloff….while I do consider the 'I Quit' match my match….I do know that locking myself to Nikita with a 'Russian Chain' is border line insane…..the man is a machine who barely registers pain, but Nikita…what I'm counting on is that you'll underestimate ME! Yes, I do feel pain and I'm not excited about being chained together but I promise you this Koloff, you'll have to KILL me before I'll say I quit…and believe me….I'm willing to do the same to you to get my title back!" ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== (As we return Woman, Man, and Luscious Lanny have joined Gordon Solie) Woman: "Hi Gordy……did you miss me?" Solie: "Well…sure it's always a pleasure to see you Woman." Lanny: "Awww…what about me Gordy, did you miss me too?" Solie: "Um well, I don't know that 'miss' is the word I'd use…" Lanny: "I get it Gordy, miss just doesn't describe it. That's sweet." Woman: (stroking Gordon's cheek) So Gordy, how's things coming along on Luscious' title match?" Solie: "Well again Woman, I don't have control over those types of things, I'm just an announcer." Woman: "Gordy, don't underestimate your……'stroke' (Gordon blushes) You're the 'Dean of Wrestling Announcers', of course Les Thatcher and the NWA will listen to you….we're not asking for a shot at the World title….just maybe the U.S. Jr title or the Continental title." Solie: "I honestly don't have any influence…you would need to talk to the matchmakers." Lanny: "I would consider it a 'personal' favor, Gordy." Solie: "I'll see what I can do." Woman: (kisses Gordon on the cheek) "Thank you so much Gordy, I'll really owe you one…..maybe even two." (Gordon wipes his brow) Lanny: "Meanwhile….these matches have been boring me….I want to liven things up. I want to see who has the guts to step into my 'PleasureDome'. So this Monday night I'm offering up the first 'PleasureDome' challenge…..it's open to anyone who wants to accept and if I don't make them submit to the 'PAINacle', Man will pay them five thousand dollars." (Man fans out the cash) Woman: "Bye for now sweetie." (brushes Gordon's cheek) Lanny: "Ta ta Gordy." (brushes his other cheek) Man: "Title match……make it happen!" (followed by his usual wink before leaving) Gordon looks blankly into the camera: "Let's go back to the ring." ================ MATCH #4: NWA Continental Champion "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel defeated Fred Garvin by submission with the figure four leglock Post Match- Joe Pedicino approaches Buddy Landel at ringside Joe: "You've got a lot going on right now champ, everything with Ronnie Gossett, Jerry Stubbs, and that whole bunch….and now you've been challenged for next week's TV show by the Spoiler." Landel: "What?? The Spoiler?? He's still around?" Joe: "Still around and still winning matches." Landel: "Sure, whatever……I'll wrestle the Spoiler. Look, I know we've got this big eight man tag team match on Monday night with Gossett's goons….but I want a match one on one with Jerry Stubbs. Not just any match….I want a 'Southern Street Fight' with Stubbs at Beach Brawl." Joe: "We'll need to approach Les Thatcher with that but I'm sure that….." (Duke Myers rolls Ronnie P. Gossett out in his wheel chair) Landel: "I know good well you don't still need that wheel chair, at this point you just like him rolling your lard a** around so you don't have to actually walk." RPG: "First of all, I'm still injured and the Doctors don't know if I'll EVER be able to walk again….and quite frankly I'm insulted that someone I once considered to be my best friend would say something so hurtful and personal even on a wrestling show." Landel: "Gimme a break Gossett…" RPG: "I came out there tonight to offer you an olive branch! I wanted to end this foolishness and get us back on the same page. You know as well as I do that you don't like Wendell Cooley and Magnum T.A. and you sure as hell don't like Dusty Rhodes." Landel: "I don't have to like any of those guys to be able to team with them in a wrestling match, but the fact of the matter is I trust any of those guys more than I trust you, Stubbs, or any those lowlifes you associate with!" (Before Gossett can respond Jerry Stubbs comes out of nowhere and attacks Landel from behind, he rams Landel face first into the ring post and then gives him a DDT on the concrete floor! Wendell Cooley runs down with a chair which sends Stubbs running for cover. The camera gets a shot of Landel as Cooley turns him over and he's bleeding profusely from the head that's busted wide open) ======================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ======================= MATCH #5 MAIN EVENT "The Crippler" Rip Oliver w/Dark Journey & Steve Regal pinned Terry Taylor w/Tom Zenk after Dark Journey handed Oliver some knucks while the referee was distracted by Regal and Zenk who are brawling at ringside © 1986 Continental Championship Wrestling/National Wrestling Alliance
  6. Great tournament for the North American title, super happy to see Butch Reed win the title! Great stuff with Gordy at the end. Gotta wonder how Buddy Roberts is going to react to getting hit with the loaded purse by Hayes.... Great TV leading to a fun card at the Lake Front Arena! I like the stips for the Patriots matches. Race/Reed vs. Jake/Leduc will be a wild one for sure! Love the stips on the World Tag title match....Dibiase or Dr Death either one would make a great challenger for Nikita...meanwhile imagine Nikita holding the World title AND the World Tag Team titles!
  7. Either way, CCW would like to pick up Hercules Ayala....drop Nick Kiniski...and also Soldat Ustinov shouldn't be on my roster. Thanks!

  12. Like the others have said, great job with this week's TV building up the Labor Day show, so much to look forward to there! Al Perez would make an awesome TV champ, though I'm loving Whatley as champion with Slick by his side. The Gang has been built well, he looks like a monster who could take the title from Nikita when given the chance. The Brass Knux title will be a perfect fit here with all the roughhousers you have on your roster! I'm hoping Chicky manages to not leave town....but if he does he could certainly have a home in CCW! Embry is a heat machine! I like how the "Crybaby" chant is catching on. Great win for Terry Funk to close the show! Solid card at the Sports Arena that keeps building us to the Labor Day show! Great work!
  13. A fired up Doc and Dibiase means trouble for the Freebirds...however Hayes and Roberts could use their overzealousness to their advantage and steal the titles. Ernie Ladd manages to trip up Ross with facts...I love it! Great first round matches for the NA title...hard to call a winner here! Purse....Precious....interesting.....
  14. Show starts out hot with the World Tag titles on the line! The Beasts get some payback! Can't blame Adias for not wanting to stir things up with Cabin Fever when they are already have the World titles! Wahoo vs. Bock with the winner getting a title shot...I know who I'm pulling for... Jerry "Alright" Allen is coming along here, you are the king of finding a gimmick to add some much needed personality to these middle and undercard guys....I need to work on that myself. The "Vin Man" is back with a new and even bigger and better family! I for one am I excited to see him back! Idol to defend against the winner of a battle royal....this is always fun! Heel Idol is always great on the mic! Looking forward to seeing the Iceman in the AWA!! The Fabs vs. The Rock & Roll Express has so much potential...I can't wait for these two teams to go at it in the ring! The Great Gagne retains! Hell yeah!! I still can't believe you've found a way to make Greg Gagne entertaining...lol, kudos my friend! Steamboat/Billy Jack could go either way....I'm intrigued to see who comes out as champion here! Great show as always bud!
  15. Continental Championship Wrestling TV Saturday August 14, 1986 Hosted by Gordon Solie Ring Announcer: Freddie Miller Interviewer: Joe Pedicino From the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama (The show opens with highlights of the ending of last week's Continental title match between Buddy Landel and Tatsumi Fujinami: after over 20 minutes of action it looked like Fujinami had the match won as he had Landel locked in an abdominal stretch…..however Landel after a long struggle did manage to make to the ropes with out submitting…..when he reached the ropes he leaned over and spat right in the face of Humperdink at ringside, this caused Humperdink to jump up on the ring apron, as the ref ran over to get Hump off the ring, Landel immediately turned behind the ref's back and kicked Fujinami square in the nuts! Humperdink got down and Landel quickly covered Fujinami while grabbing a handful of tights…..and got the 1-2-3 to retain the championship! Landel grabbed the title belt and sprinted away to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Back in the ring, Humperdink berated Fujinami for losing…..Fujinami began to berate him back in Japanese before finally shoving him to the ground……as this was happening, Sato and Goto hit the ring and attacked Fujinami….they put a pretty good beating on him until the Dirty White Boys hit the ring and started brawling with Sato/Goto! Amidst all the chaos, Humperdink grabbed the microphone and promised that Fujinami would regret putting his hands on him! We go to the opening montage set to the instrumental of Eddie Murphy's 'Party all the time' and we then go to the set with our host world renown wrestling commentator, Gordon Solie) Solie: "Hello and welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, sanctioned by the National Wrestling Alliance and we have another exciting event for you this evening as we'll be speaking to the Continental Heavyweight champion, Buddy Landel to see if we can get an explanation for his recent actions in the ring, we'll also see Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami in action, we'll hear from Sir Oliver Humperdink, once again we'll be seeing 'Luscious' Lanny Poffo in action along with Woman and Man, and in our main event this week we'll be seeing a grudge match of sorts as the Dirty White Boys will be taking on Akio Sato and Tarzan Goto! We'll see all that and much more so let's get right to the action as we go to the ring for our opening bout!" ================== MATCH #1: "The Winner" Johnny Rich/"Dangerous" Davey Rich defeated Lucian Sanchez/Rick Dagless when Johnny pinned Sanchez after a fist drop from the 2nd rope. (Post match: The Richs are all smiles as they approach the desk with Gordon Solie) Solie: "Well….you two seem exceptionally jolly this week…" Johnny: "Why wouldn't we be, Gordon? Last week I pinned the 'legendary' Bob Armstrong in the center of the ring….one….two…three!" Solie: "Sooo…we're not going to talk about Rip Oliver's interference and then the interference of a second 'Intern' who broke a coke bottle over the head of Mr. Armstrong." Johnny: "Minor details Gordon that don't in any way change the fact that I…Johnny Rich was the WINNER….and with that in mind I insist from now on to be announced as 'the Winner' Johnny Rich because that's what I am!" Solie: "Fair enough, however I do have some footage you need to see, sent in from a man that's none to happy about any of this." (VTR- An obviously enraged Bob Armstrong appears to be filming this promo in his backyard) Bob: "I'm officially fed up with the Richs…..every DAMN one of them! Johnny, Tommy, and even their little cousin Davey….but most of all that coward Tommy Rich! Tommy Rich, I honestly don't think you should have been suspended for piledriving your mother…..in fact I think she deserved a piledriver for raising a sorry sack such as yourself and if I ever see her again, I may just give her another one for good measure! So Tommy Boy, you think you're real smart recruiting these other guys like Rip Oliver and Matt Borne to dress up like an Intern so that you could sneak in and do your dirty work without getting caught! Well that all ends real soon because Tommy Rich, you've finally broke the camel's back with the Armstrongs….so I've done the unthinkable and you best believe Mrs. Armstrong is none too happy about It but I have gone into our family savings account and taken out one hundred thousand dollars and sent a cashier's check to Bill Watts and soon…very soon you're suspension will be lifted and I'm going to get my hands on you, boy! Don't worry, you won't be here long because Les Thatcher has already agreed to sign a match the minute your suspension has been lifted for Beach Brawl in Biloxi, Mississippi with me and my boy Brad Armstrong taking on you and your cousin Johnny Rich….in a match where the loser of the fall leaves the NWA for good! Oh and in the meantime, Brad and I will be in this battle royal this Monday night looking to get a shot at the Continental tag team titles…and you best believe our first order of business will be to get our hands on Johnny and Davey and toss their butts right outta that ring and make sure nobody named Rich gets anywhere near those tag team titles again….Tommy, get ready because the time for talking is over…the suspension is about to be lifted and I'm gonna take a hundred grand out of your behind at the Beach Brawl and send you packing!" (END VTR) Solie: "How about that guys?" Davey: "Are you kidding? That idiot paid Tommy's fine and he acts like that's a threat? He thinks Tommy is scared of him or any of his punk kids?? That's great!" Johnny: "Dang right it's great….and as for that battle royal….if those Armstrongs know what's good for them, they'll stay away from us….because when it's all said and done…once again…we'll be the WINNERS!" (The Richs leave all smiles) Solie: "About that battle royal that was mentioned, this Monday night in Huntsville there's going to be a twelve team battle royal with the winners getting a shot next week at the Continental Tag Team titles, meanwhile this Monday night…..'Dr. Death' Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase will be coming to town to put the NWA World Tag Team titles on the line against the CCW tag champs, Terry Taylor and Tom Zenk. We'll be back after this commercial break with the man who will be challenging for the Continental Championship this Monday night, 'Wildcat' Wendell Cooley." ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #2: "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley pinned Bota the Witch Doctor with a running bulldog (After the match- Cooley joins Solie at the desk) Solie: "Wendell, congrats on another great victory but I called you up here to show you some footage I thought you needed to see, Joe Pedicino was getting ready to interview Jerry Stubbs and the cameras were rolling and before the interview could start, Ronnie Gossett busted in and asked Stubbs why he volunteered to step aside to give you the first shot….um, well…check out his response." (VTR- Jerry Stubbs is sitting in a chair across from Joe Pedicino as Duke Myers rolls in Ronnie P. Gossett in his wheelchair and he angrily asks Stubbs about stepping aside for Cooley) Stubbs: "Ronnie….think about it. Landel is still the same lying, cheating piece of garbage he's always been….look at him, he's cheated to win every match he's had….now, so far the fans and the other goody two shoes rasslers don't care because he's cheated against people they don't like…..but how do you think the fans will react….not to mention how the other so-called 'good guys' and Les Thatcher are going to react when Landel cheats against Cooley to save his title?? They'll all turn against him and then he'll have no one…..no allies….no one to help him and he'll be all ours to destroy and easily take back my title!" RPG: (nodding) "That's true……that's very true." Stubbs: "Even better than that….since I was the one who suggested it….I'm going to insist on being the "special referee" so I can make sure not to see Landel pull whatever stunt he has planned to make sure he keeps the title so we can take it from him and teach his butt a lesson for screwing us over and stealing my belt and mask." RPG: "Carry on then Stubbs….carry on." (Myers rolls Gossett away) Stubbs: "Alright Pedicino, fire up the camera and let's do this interview." Joe: "I think we've got what we need already. Thanks." Stubbs: "Wait! You were recording that?? No! You can't show that! If that airs, Pedicino..you're a dead man!" (END VTR) Solie: "So….now does it all make sense?" Cooley: "Well, well, well….indeed it does Mr. Solie. But you know what, I'm just fine with that, I'm more than ready for anything Landel wants to throw at me." (Stubbs comes rushing out) Stubbs: "How dare you air that Gordon Solie? I'm going to sue you, Joe Pedicino, Les Thatcher, and any TV station that just aired that!" Cooley: "Good luck with that Stubbs." (Les Thatcher comes out) Thatcher: "So, 'Mr. Continental'…..you want to be the special referee?" Stubbs: (looking surprised) "Yes….yes I do." Thatcher: "Well, I'm willing to give you the opportunity to do that…..but I thought we'd make it interesting. So, I asked both Wendell and Buddy if there could have a special referee for this match, who would they choose…..they both said the same person…Magnum T.A." Stubbs: "Well that's just stupid." Thatcher: "Here's the deal, Jerry. You're going to have a match on Monday night against Magnum T.A. and the winner will be the special referee……oh and not only that the winner will also get the next title shot against the winner between Cooley and Landel." Stubbs: "What?? NO! I get the next title shot…..that can't be part of the deal!" (Thatcher leaves the podium as Stubbs chases after him pleading his case) Cooley: "Whoever the referee is, my only goal is to walk out of there the champion." Solie: "Best of luck, Wendell. Let's go to the ring and see a bit of a grudge match." ========================= MATCH #3: "Big Bad" Bobby Duncum fought Bobby Jaggers to a double DQ when both their partners Phil Hickerson and Dirty Rhodes got involved and it turned into a big tag team brawl at the 4 minute mark ========================= COMMERCIAL BREAK ========================= MATCH #4: Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami pinned Randy Watson with a 'Dragon Suplex' After the match: Sir Oliver Humperdink entered the ring and started berating Fujinami until he grabbed Hump and locked him in a 'Dragon Sleeper', until from out of nowhere KILLER KHAN hits the ring and attacks Fujinami! Khan works over Fujinami until referees, security, and prelim wrestlers hit the ring to break things up! ========================== A highlight video airs of the NWA World Tag Team Champions "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Ted Dibiase in action against a variety of opponents getting the fans ready for their tag title defense this Monday night in Huntsville! ========================== MATCH #5: "Luscious" Lanny Poffo w/Woman & Man defeated Ray Purchase by submission with the 'Painacle' (Crossface Chicken Wing) (Poffo, Woman, and Man approach Gordon Solie at the podium) Solie: "Uhh, Mr. Poffo we don't have you scheduled for an interview this week." Woman: (stroking Gordon's hair) "Ohh, come on Gordy….can't you make just a little time for us…." Solie: "Well, maybe a few moments…" Poffo: "See there (getting uncomfortably close to Gordon on the opposite side as Woman) That's why we like you Gordy…..you always make time for us…..you understand us." Solie: "Well, I don't know if that's a fair statement." Poffo: "Sure you do Gordy….you don't know why but you just know that you like it when Woman and myself are close by…..I think you even have a soft spot for Man here….but let's talk business for a moment here shall we? I'm not just here to bring pleasure and pain to these pathetic excuses for wrestlers here in Continental……I'm also here to win GOLD….I want a beautiful belt around my beautiful waist…..don't you wanna see that Gordy?" Solie: "I'm not opposed to you getting a title shot….." Woman: (rubbing her hand against Gordon's cheek) "Come on Gordy, I know you could use your influence to help make things happen for us." Solie: "I don't have much influence on that aspect of things…." Poffo: "Come on Gordy….don't try to downplay your influence….but that's ok….you'll come around in time….so in the meantime I'm going to continue to beat and humiliate everyone who steps in the ring with me and you'll all see that I'm the most extraordinary and EXOTIC wrestler…in the WORLD!" (He blows Gordon a kiss and walks away) (Woman kisses Gordon on the cheek and as always….Man places his hand on Gordon's shoulder and gives him wink) ======================== COMMERCIAL BREAK Gordon runs down the card for Monday night Continental Championship Wrestling Von Braun Civic Center Huntsville, Alabama Monday August 16, 1986 Bell Time: 7:30pm MAIN EVENT NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Ted Dibiase/"Dr. Death" Steve Williams vs. Terry Taylor/Tom Zenk NWA Continental Tag Team Champions SEMI-MAIN EVENT NWA CONTINENTAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Special Referee: "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel vs. "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley TAG TEAM BATTLE ROYAL (Winners will get a shot at the CCW Tag Titles next week) The Dirty White Boys (Tony Anthony/Len Denton) The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) Akio Sato/Tarzan Goto The Hangmen (Bobby Jaggers/Dirty Rhodes) "Bullet" Bob/Brad Armstrong Savannah Jack/"Sweet Brown Sugar" Skip Young Johnny/Davey Rich "Crippler" Rip Oliver/"Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal Surfs Up (Allen West/Ray Odyssey) Blackjack Mulligan/"Outlaw" Ron Bass Scott/Steve Armstrong The Assassins (#1/#2) SPECIAL CHALLENGE MATCH Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami vs. Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink WINNER REFEREES THE CCW TITLE MATCH "Mr. Continental" Jerry Stubbs w/Ronnie P. Landel: "What actions are you referring to, Gordon?" Solie: "Last week, you beat Akio Sato with your feet on the ropes, Monday night you kicked Tatsumi Fujinami in groin to defeat him this past Monday night and there's a few other examples as well." Landel: "What does the 'Bring Buddy Back' campaign have to do with any of that? Go back and watch those ads, go back and read the literature…..I promised to….make Gossett and Stubbs lives hell….check! I promised to tag the Continental title away from Stubbs (holds up the title belt) check! I promised to take that mask off Jerry Stubbs and if you've seen that big shiny disco ball he calls a head out here on tv then you know that too is a big ol' check!! Where did I promise not to cheat? Where did I promise to do the right thing or be a nice guy?? The answer is….I didn't! Sure, I may team up with people the fans like….I may cheat against people the fans don't like but Gordon Solie, Buddy is ALWAYS gonna be Buddy! Like it or lump it, folks…I’m sorry but that's just the way it is. 16. Not a big deal and not totally out of the question that Garvin could have pulled it off....it just made for quite a visual in my head as I was reading it....and it would have really popped the crowd and showed how fired up Garvin was to pull that off.
  17. I agree that you've really nailed the feel of SMW. I'm interested in the Von Erich angle here...it's kind of a fun "what if" here on how fans outside Texas would react to Fritz pushing his "boys" especially Mike and "Lance". In '86 fans kind in this region sorta towed the line on doing what was expected of them reaction wise but considering how awful poor Mike was and how obvious it was that Ricky Vaughn wasn't a Von Erich this could have very well been the way this played out. I'm hoping for a Fritz heel turn at some point. Lol. Savio is green in this era and perfect fit for this new territory. Madril continues to come along as a babyface here. Roy Lee better watch his mouth or the Stomper is going to mess him up! So glad to see Downtown Bruno here, always been a fan of his work.
  18. What a night in Jackson! Garvin has been eating his Wheaties to get Rusty Brooks up for the Brainbuster...he means business! Great use of the snake to get Jake the win over Blackwell! I don't think there's enough Yankees out there to take down Butch! Rocky and Brody are in! This is going to be a helluva tournament! Wow! Hayes gets a measure of revenge on Doc....but at what price?? There's going to be hell to pay for this one!
  19. The Monsters hold it together a little while longer but this thing is going to be epic when the shit hits the fan!
  20. Another great series of shows here! Great heat on Chicky for just walking out when things get tough Nice to see Scott Irwin getting a singles win here! Loved the DQ finish with Slick on Shaska, very creative and it would have driven the fans insane! Wild Bunch sends the fans home happy! Mantell picks up a good win while Embry keeps his fit with the post match hissy fit! Good stuff! Moondogs vs. Funks is sheer madness....this should have happened in Memphis IRL at some point. Can't wait to see Slater get his match with Jumbo!!

  22. Well...it sucks Terry Gordy must be stripped of the title...but rules are rules...but I do enjoy a good tournament! Well Well Well the Rebel turns out to the Buddy Roberts and now Hayes has some back up....and will be challenging for the tag titles, I hope Hayes has another Ace up his sleeve...Buddy "Jack" might not be enough. Bad News vs. Rocky Johnson is going to be a barn burner! I'd have to think that everyone in this tournament is rooting for Ivan Koloff just to keep Brody out of the running!

  24. Tim Horner is quietly racking up the wins here! Savoldi and Putski have a lot of potential here, I'll be keeping an eye on them The Fabs continue to rub it in with the double drop kick...though the fans seem to stick it right back to them with the chants Wow...Beasts of Burden just can't seem to get it together....Ox can't be happy. 25. Continental Championship Wrestling Boutwell Auditorium Birmingham, Alabama Monday August 9, 1986 Bell Time: 7pm "Luscious" Lanny Poffo w/MAN & WOMAN defeated Larry Hamilton by submission with the 'PAINacle' The Spoiler w/Dark Journey pinned Billy Travis with the claw hold NWA United States Jr. Heavyweight Championship 30 Minute Time Limit Scott Armstrong wrestled "Mr. Electricity" Steve Regal w/Dark Journey to a 30 Min TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH Savannah Jack/"Sweet Brown Sugar" Skip Young defeated The Hangmen (Bobby Jaggers/Dirty Rhodes) when Young pinned Rhodes off a distraction from The Highwaymen who came to ringside and started trash talking the Hangmen. After the match, The Hangmen and The Highwaymen got into a huge scuffle at ringside that took several minutes to break up, Phil Hickerson got his head rammed into the ring post and one point and he was bleeding heavily as they were escorted back to the dressing room. Brad Armstrong fought "Crippler" Rip Oliver w/Dark Journey to a double count out GRUDGE MATCH (Davey Rich handcuffed to Steve Armstrong) "Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. Johnny Rich This match started out pretty one sided as 'Bullet' Bob tore into Johnny at the opening bell and wailed on him for most of the match, Davey tried to interfere but to no avail as he was cuffed to Steve Armstrong at ringside…..at one point, Bob locked Rich into the sleeper hold, Johnny was about to go out, the referee was checking his arm, it dropped once….then a second time when suddenly Johnny dropped to his knees while simultaneously lunging forward causing Armstrong's head to collide with referee Ed Brock knocking the referee down and causing Armstrong to release the sleeper, at ringside, Davey waist locked Steve and took him down to the floor, he placed a rag with something on it over Steve's face which seemed to put him out!……with the referee and Steve Armstrong down….the masked 'Intern' rushed the ring and went after Bob Armstrong, he went to apply a piledriver on Bob but he reversed it and gave him a back drop! As the Intern was getting back up, Armstrong grabbed the mask with both hands and snatched it off his head to reveal….RIP OLIVER!! As Bob looked shocked….Brad Armstrong hit the ring and went after Oliver throwing him out of the ring….this allowed Bob to turn his attention back to Johnny Rich! As Johnny begged off into the corner…..a different masked 'Intern' hit the ring and smashed a Coke bottle over Armstrong's head from behind!! The masked man quickly exited the ring as Johnny Rich shook the referee who crawled over as Johnny covered Bob……for the 1--2--3!! Johnny Rich has pinned "Bullet" Bob Armstrong! NWA Continental Tag Team Championship FOUR CORNERS MATCH Terry Taylor/Tom Zenk vs. The Dirty White Boys (Tony Anthony/Len Denton) vs. Akio Sato/Tarzan Goto w/Sir Oliver Humperdink vs. The Highwaymen (Bobby Duncum/Phil Hickerson) Before the match could even get started the Hangmen jumped the Highwaymen on their way to the ring and they fought their way out of the building essentially turning this match into a Triple Threat of sorts, rather than a four corners match. None of the three teams that remained liked each other so it was quite the competitive match….after about 18 minutes of action, Goto didn't notice that Zenk slapped him on the shoulder with the referee recognizing it as a tag, Goto hooked Denton for the German Suplex, Sato hit the savate kick and quickly exited the ring as Goto hit Denton with the bridging German Suplex, however as he landed it, Zenk slingshotted himself over the top rope onto Goto and hooked the leg for a quick 1-2-3! The champions retain as both the Humperdink and The Dirty White Boys disputed it with referee Mac McMurray afterwards SEMI-MAIN EVENT TAG TEAM FIRST BLOOD MATCH "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley/Magnum T.A. vs. Blackjack Mulligan/"Outlaw" Ron Bass w/Ronnie P. Gossett & Duke Myers This match despite being a tag team "first blood" match, it was worked as a standard tag team match through most of it…..until Wendell Cooley was just about to make the "hot tag" to Magnum T.A. who had been on the apron for quite some time when from out of nowhere, Duke Myers yanked him off the apron from the outside causing him to not be there as Cooley dove over to make the tag! As Magnum fired away with right hands on Myers, he was quickly jumped from behind by Blackjack Mulligan and they began to fight on the floor around ringside….while Bass picked Cooley back up off the mat and gave him a backbreaker……Jerry Stubbs ran down to the ring and grabbed one of Bass' spurs out of the corner and tossed it up to Bass! At the same time, Buddy Landel ran down and grabbed the other spur and tossed it into Cooley! Bass didn't see Landel toss the other spur to Cooley…..Bass goes over and grabs Cooley by the hair and starts to pull him up off the mat and slowly measure him for a big punch with the spur on his hand when out of nowhere Cooley rakes the other spur across Bass' face! Bass goes down grabbing his forehead….and when he comes back up he's bleeding profusely! The referee calls for the bell! Wendell and Magnum are your winners of the first blood match! Jerry Stubbs is beside himself as is Gossett, Bass, and Mulligan! MAIN EVENT NWA Continental Heavyweight Championship "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel vs. Tatsumi 'the Dragon' Fujinami w/Sir Oliver Humperdink A solid main event even though the heel challenger seemed to be out wrestling the newly babyface champion…..after over 20 minutes of action it looked like Fujinami had the match won as he had Landel locked in an abdominal stretch…..however Landel after a long struggle did manage to make to the ropes with out submitting…..when he reached the ropes he leaned over and spat right in the face of Humperdink at ringside, this caused Humperdink to jump up on the ring apron, as the ref ran over to get Hump off the ring, Landel immediately turned behind the ref's back and kicked Fujinami square in the nuts!
