  1. No Cagematch sucks...I just couldn't remember what site it was you told me that you use. I just knew I've been watching a ton of stuff on youtube of Ayala wrestling well past 1986 so I figured I would ask. Thanks.
  2. Is CageMatch.net the website we're using to base our retirement dates on? Hercules Ayala is listed to retire at the end of '86 on here but he wrestled full time through the 90s in Puerto Rico. His big heel turn down there didn't even happen until 87. I looked and yes, they list less than 10 matches in '87 and '88...but it seems they only list title changes for him....unless he only had 6 matches and EVERY match he wrestled was a title match which doesn't seem likely.
  3. Twin States drops Nick Kiniski and Frankie Lancaster and picks up Doug Gilbert
  4. Great job hooking everyone with the announcement of today's main event, as well as making sure I make plans for next week's show before this one even gets going by announcing Dusty/Mike George against Terry Funk/Jimmy Jack...um I mean Jesse Barr! BIG main events here in the USWA!! Hard Knocks and Powerage brawl their way right out of the tournament! There going to be kicking themselves over that for weeks to come I'm sure! Pulling for Bodacious to make it into the tournament, loving the bad singing bit and the group hugs...classic heel heat!! Great stuff! Super D is here with Jones to take out the Spoiler! This is going to be fun! I'm a big fan of both! The Technicians rub Karachi Vice the wrong way.....the Vice have a death grip on the titles lately, and seems like they are going into this one with something to prove! I was pretty happy to see Slater in the Beauty Shop but was genuinely blown away by the shocking appearance of Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll!?! I can't wait to see these guys square off for the title! Much like the Luscious tease on Texas All-Star.....I'm very interested to see who this new "King" is going to be! Nord the Barbarian has arrived! I have think all the managers have their eye on the big man for their stables. Greg Gagne calling people nerds is yet another highspot in the game for me each time it happens lol. WOW! The Stud Stable has made their presence known with a big win over the Fabs!! This means WAR I'm sure!! Now let's head to Evansville! Nice tag match to start things off with the RPMs drawing with Gagne/Savoldi! Morgan continues to look like a monster as he destroys two guys.....I'd love to seem him tie up with Nord the Barbarian at some point. Jimmy Jack Barr gets questionable win...but a win just the same. Mr. Magnificent gets a count out win but at what price as Big Man Steel gets a little revenge afterwards....poor Vinnie. "Soulman" gets the win over TNT and manages to avoid the post match attack! King Curtis will not let this go I'm sure. YES YES YES! Champagne comes through and Bodacious heads to the tournament! Kamala puts down Strong thanks to some timely interference....but they don't get to punish him thanks to Rocky Johnson...who has to be very high on their hit list after tonight! Holy crap! What a way to cap the night off for the fans of Evansville...an unexpected title change as The Technicians take the straps off the Karachi Vice! Great stuff as always!
  5. Great way to kick off the show with a win from the Texas Tag champs with the help of Dark Journey! The tension continues to build with the weekly tease of LUSCIOUS! I like the Texas Rangers tag team....I look forward to them eventually crossing paths with Tatum/Victory. The "stupid gringo" line might have been my favorite this week! Akbar and Nagasaki on the Fiesta Garden was much more fun than it had any right to be....Madril is money! Loved the shots at the Beauty Shop! Fun stuff! Loved the questions at the end...lol. If for nothing else ever....this game was worth every minute we've all put in it....for the visual of Ray Candy and Skip Young coming out to New Edition's 'Candy Girl' in those outfits as "Good & Plenty'! Holy shit, words can't express how entertained I am by that....I can't wait to see them compete in the tournament! I hope they win! Getting in the "Candy man can" line popped me again in the promo! Great main event that's going to lead to a Gunslingers/Cartel match, loved the fired up promo afterwards....especially Sunshine's line "I have several words right now Marc, but none that I am allowed to say on television!" Awesome show as always man!
  6. Twin States Wrestling Episode #27 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday January 23, 1986 From: the airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart Before we go to the normal opening, we see footage of how last week's main event ended: (VTR- Olympia seems to have things going his way when he goes to shoot Landel into the cage but Landel reverses it and rams Olympia directly into the referee knocking him into the cage leaving the referee down and out……after a few moments, Olympia hits Landel with a DDT and goes for the cover but the ref is stilll out…..another referee runs down to ringside and unlocks the cage so he can replace the other referee but once he unlocks the cage and goes to enter it, he's pushed out of the way by Eric Embry and Steve Regal who enter the cage instead and attack Olympia…..within a few moments, the other two "Mr. Olympias" enter the cage and it's a wild six way brawl. Platt: "Fans, this has completely broken down now that Landel forced them to unlock the cage after taking out the referee." RPG: "That was clearly an accident Platt, it was not intentional." Platt: "I don't believe that…..either way we're out of time and there's no way the referee will regain control of this title match, tune in next week to find out what the ruling is and who ends up walking out the Twin States Champion!" -END VTR) (Show opens with a montage of Twin States Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello wrestling fans and welcome once again to Twin States Wrestling, I’m Charlie Platt along with Ronnie P. Gossett, and Ronnie we just saw the craziness at the end of last week's main event, thanks to the Platinum Club." RPG: "It wasn't JUST the Platinum Club, the Olympias were involved as well." Platt: "They came to the aid of Mr. Olympia, they certainly did not initiate this fiasco." (Buddy Landel comes strolling out to the set with the Twin States title belt) Landel: "The point is Charles, I'm still your Twin States Champion." Platt: "Well that unfortunately is the case but I understand that Les Thatcher has a big announcement in the Twin States event center this week about a big match that's going to happen at Gulf Coast Clash involving you and your Platinum Club buddies." Landel: "Oh I'm sure Les Thatcher and Jerry Jarrett have spent all week long plotting and scheming some kinda way to stick it to the 'Nature Boy', just like they thought they had last week….but as you can see, not even a steel cage can contain the Platinum Club…..besides, if it weren't for the footage I'm sure you'd have no recollection of what happened last week, I'm sure you were completely hammered by the time the main event went on." Platt: "Are you really going to continue this ridiculous accusation every week that I'm an alcoholic, when I don't even drink?" RPG: "Well Platt, are you going to continue to insinuate every week that our champion, Buddy Landel and the Platinum Club are cheaters." Platt: "I don't have to insinuate anything, there's footage to prove it." Landel: "Come on now you lush, it's 1986…you guys can do all sorts of trickery with that video to make it look like WE cheated….ya'll probably edited the tape to make it look like Embry and Regal ran in the cage first instead of the Olympias." Platt: "That's what happened, everyone saw it as it aired last week." Landel: "Platt, you know darn good and well this show isn't live….you guys can edit that stuff before it ever airs….like I'm sure they just edited it where it sounds like I said darn instead of damn a minutue ago." Platt: (flustered) "But they just heard you say it right now, plus if we were going to edit something out, why wouldn't just edit everything you just said out of the show?" Landel: "I don't know that you didn't? We're taping this right now….I'm sure none of this will air….you'll just show the doctored footage that makes it look like Embry and Regal entered the cage first, when in reality….the other two Olympias came in and attacked me first, then Embry and Regal came down after they were already in the cage and saved their beloved partner and noble champion, your's truly….and Charlie Platt, you know that's the God's honest truth, cross my heart and hope you die." Platt: (throws his hands up) "Maybe I should start drinking…." RPG: "Not yet Charlie, we're not even five minutes into this thing." Platt: "I meant in general…good lord. Anyway, Buddy if you'll excuse us we have a show to do here….fans, we have another great show in store for you today as we'll have the two semi-final matches in the USWA World Championship contenders tournament. Joe Pedicino will announce more matches for Gulf Coast Clash, as well as four more teams from Twin States that will enter the David Von Erich Memorial tag team tournament plus we'll see the debut of the Sheepherders and more. Let's go to the ring for our opening match and see Chicky Starr in action who will be challenging his friend Scott Armstrong in a rematch for the USWA Southern Junior heavyweight championship at the Gulf Coast Clash." ==================== MATCH #1: Chicky Starr pinned Eddie Wilson with a crucifix ==================== (After the match, we go to Joe Pedicino with a young man in the interview area) Joe: "Charlie, I'm sorry to interupt but I have a young man here who says he wants to apoligize on behalf of his family, Les Thatcher asked we allow him the time, he tells me this is Davey Rich, cousin of Johnny and Tommy Rich." Davey: "Thank you Mr Pedicino, I want to thank you, Mr. Thatcher, and Mr. Jarrett for allowing me this time to speak on behalf of the entire Rich family." Joe: "You're welcome Davey, tell us what's on your mind." Davey: "Well, as you may or may not know I just recently broke into the wrestling business and had been looking forward to joining my cousins Johnny and Tommy in the USWA back around Thanksgiving and I just couldn't believe the way they had been acting…..I mean Johnny had gone sideways quite a while ago with this whole 'Memphis Mafia Man' nonsense and Tommy promised he was going there to "talk some sense into him"…..then Tommy showed up and was acting as bad or perhaps worse than Johnny and quite frankly it was embarassing our entire family. Myself being young and brand new to the wrestling business, I didn't want to associate myself with them due to how they were behaving so I talked to Mr. Les Thatcher about coming here to Twin States after the first of the year rather than going to the USWA…then Johnny and Tommy attacked Brad Armstrong and Wendell Cooley and suddenly made their way here so I didn't really want to come here since they were now here dragging the family name through the mud with their reprehensible actions…..but Mr. Pedicino, a couple of weeks ago they took it too far, the things they said about not only the state of Texas but also the Von Erich family were just too much. Members of our family and myself sat them down and had a talk with them and they've seen the error of their ways and they truly do feel terrible about what they've said and done since coming here. I gave a tape to the production truck and if you wouldn't mind I'd like you to please show it to the people right now as they would really like to give a heartfelt apology to everyone they've offended in recent weeks." Joe: "Um…ok…I haven't seen this tape so as a disclaimer let me just state whatever views are expressed in this video do not nessecerily reflect those of Twin States Wrestling." (VTR: A camera has very tight shot on the faces of Johnny and Tommy Rich, it looks like one of those hostage videos and they are clearly reading these statements as they show no emotion whatsoever) Johnny: "Good evening everyone….I would just like to state for the record…that myself and my cousin Tommy Rich are very very sorry for all the bad things we have said and done in recent weeks. I don't know what got into us but we should not have said the awful things we said about the state of Texas and the Von Erich family. The things we said in no way reflect the views and opinions of the Rich family or anyone else involved in professional wrestling. Please accept our sincere apologies." Tommy: "That's right Johnny. Having attempted to read through the mountain of misspelled hate mail we got from Texas and then listening to the very confusing, angry answering machine message that we thought was from George 'the Animal' Steele but turned out to be Mike Von Erich, we were able to see the error of our ways. So, I would just like to echo what Johnny just said and also extend my sincere apology to anyone in Texas who we may have offended and any of the Von Erich family who may have been effected by our cruel words. We hope that everyone accepts our apology and allows the current Twin States Wrestling tag team champions to compete in this prestigious tournament. We'd also like to thank our cousin Davey for helping us understand why we were wrong. Thank you for listening and bless you all." ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== Platt: "I'm not sure how I feel about that apology from the Richs….I mean…is their cousin Davey being genuine? because I certainly didn't think anything that the two of them said was." RPG: "Charlie Platt, how could you question them? They come on this television show that they'v been callously banned from and pour their hearts out with sincere, heartfelt apologies and you have the nerve to mock and question their sincerity?" Platt: "Did you hear the comment about Mike Von Erich?" RPG: "Have you heard Mike Von Erich talk recently?" (Before Platt can respond, George Barnes and Lord Jonathan Boyd rush the desk) Barnes: "Who cares about the Richs!?! I wanna talk about that snot nosed punk, Jeff Jarrett! That entitled little mama's boy decides he wants to join the family business so they just throw him out there as a referee? Not just in any match, mate…but in MY World title tournament match! Then the little no good spoiled yank, gives a fast count and costs me my shot at the World title….and now that no good backstabber Bill Dundee is training him to wrestle because Jerry Jarrett thinks he's just going to let this kid wrestle because he wants to?? Bill Dundee, Jerry Jarrett, and especially you little Jeffery Jarrett….you better listen and listen good! You better learn everything you can boy from Dundee, from your daddy, Adrian Street….ANYBODY you can….because when you step across that ring from me…it will be your first and LAST match!" (Barnes storms off) Boyd: "Ronnie Gossett, everyone knows I'm Lord Jonathan Boyd….LORD of the Sheepherders! I have brought in my boys from New Zealand since George Barnes is preoccupied with Jerk Jarrett…I've brought in my brothers Butch Miller and Luke Williams and they're going to be looking to enter that big Von Erich tag team tournament and bring home the money! Take a look at what's about to happen in this ring right now!" ----------------------------------- MATCH #2: The Sheepherders (Butch Miller/Luke Williams) w/Lord Jonathan Boyd defeated Slim Jefferson/Randy Watson when Miller pinned Jefferson after the "Battering Ram" ===================== (Brad Armstrong is standing in the dressing room with Joe Pedicino) Joe: "Brad, it's good to see you back, we haven't seen you or your partner Wendell Cooley since you guys lost the Twin States tag team titles right here on television a couple of weeks ago." Brad: "Well Joe, we made a couple of mistakes. The first mistake was trusting Johnny and Tommy Rich when they extended their hands in friendship after the first match we had with them….the second mistake was letting our anger overcome our good sense and accept that match on television when Wendell was still obviously very injured….those mistakes cost us the tag team titles, but my Dad taught me there's no shame in making a mistake, the shame is to not learn from them. We're going to be in this big tournament coming up out in Texas and right now, Wendell is off recovering so that we know he's 100% when he steps through those ropes in Dallas. However Mr. Pedicino, we just hope and pray that we cross paths with the Richs in that tournament but trust and believe if we don't cross paths with them in Texas, we damn sure will here in Twin States! ===================== MATCH #3: The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated Bubba Monroe/Ronnie Jenkins when Davis pinned Monroe after a legdrop off the top rope following a tombstone piledriver from Wayne After the match, Danny Davis got on the mic and said that he and Ken Wayne are sick and tired of being attacked by the Moondogs and they are more than happy to face them in a first blood match at the Gulf Coast Clash, and that the Moondogs might just be surprised at what depths they'll stoop when they have to make somebody bleed! ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== When we return from the commercial break, "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski is in the ring with a microphone, he says that he is exactly what he claims to be….the greatest PRO WRESTLER in Twin States Wrestling. He says last week he was screwed out of the USWA World title tournament by the punching, kicking, and brawling of Bob Armstrong and that isn't wrestling……but once again he's issuing an open challenge to anyone who wants to WRESTLE him. After a moment or two, newcomer Todd Morton comes down to ringside and accepts the challenge. ------------------------------------- MATCH #4: "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski pinned Todd Morton with a bridging German Suplex ======================= (We then go to Joe Pedicino in the Twin States Event Center) Joe: "Welcome back to the Twin States Wrestling Event Center, I'm Joe Pedicino and I've got some big news about some upcoming events here in Twin States and throughout the USWA. First I want to announce the next four teams representing Twin States in the David Von Erich Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament. The number five team is the former Twin States tag team champions 'Wildcat' Wendell Cooley and Brad Armstrong. The sixth team will be the tag team of 'Superstar' Bill Dundee and 'Exotic' Adrian Street along with Miss Linda. Team number seven will be 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong and Terry Taylor, and team number eight will be the Twin States Tag Team Champions Johnny and Tommy Rich. This leaves two spots left to represent Twin States in the tournament and we will fill those two spots next week with two qualifying matches. The match to determine team number nine will be Bart and Brad, The Batten Twins facing The Sheepherders, Butch Miller and Luke Williams. The match to determine team number ten, the final team to enter….will be the team of Fire and Flame taking on The Armstrongs, Scott and Steve. That means if Scott and Steve are able to qualify, all of the wrestling Armstrong family will be competing in this tournament." (We see a highlight reel of all the teams announced tonight in action) Joe: "Last week we announced the following matches for the Gulf Coast Clash on Sunday January 31st in Biloxi, Mississippi: USWA World Championship Terry Funk vs. The Winner of the USWA Contenders Tournament BUNKHOUSE MATCH Blackjack Mulligan w/Kendall Windham vs. Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink First Blood Match The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink USWA Southern Jr. Heavyweight Championship 30 Minute Time Limit Scott Armstrong vs. Chicky Starr Joe: "Tonight, we can confirm that the match has been signed with George Barnes taking on Jeff Jarrett in his very first pro wrestling match. Now after what happened last week, Les Thatcher has been in meetings all week with Jerry Jarrett trying to decide what to do about the issues between The Platinum Club and the three Mr Olympias…..let's hear from Mr. Thatcher, right now." Thatcher: "Thank you Joe, We really didn't expect things to play out the way they did last week but I've sat down with Jerry Jarrett this week and I think we have come up with a scenario where things will get settled in the cage this time around. So here's where we're at. The main event at Gulf Coast Clash will be a six man tag team Steel Cage match with The Platinum Club of Buddy Landel, Eric Embry, and Steve Regal with Johnny V taking on Mr Olympia 1, 2, and 3. There's going to be some special stipulations in this one….first there will be TWO referees inside the cage to make sure we don't encounter what happened last time…but more on that in a moment. Here's the special stipulations….If ANY of the Olympias get pinned, the one who gets pinned or submits will have to remove his mask before leaving the cage and they will have to leave Twin States. If Eric Embry or Steve Regal get pinned or submit, they will have their head shaved AND they will have to leave Twin States….however if Buddy Landel gets pinned or submits, he will lose the Twin States Championship and LEAVE Twin States! One more detail though…the one referee inside the cage will be referee Larry Brock….the other referee inside the cage will be special enforcer…..BRUISER BRODY!" ======================= (Camera cuts away from the Event Center and over to the desk) RPG: "Has Thatcher lost his ever loving mind??" (The Platinum Club come out to the desk, all beside themselves) Landel: "What in the hell is going on here?? You can't just make insane stipulations like that….the boys get their head shaved AND leave town? I lose my title AND leave town? But more importantly, when did Bruiser Brody become a referee or even work for this company??" Embry: "He ain't been to referee school! He is not qualified to referee a match! I object." Platt: "Well Mr Embry, this isn't court….this is Twin States Wrestling and unfortunately for you guys what Les Thatcher and Jerry Jarrett says….goes….so whoever it is that gets pinned at Gulf Coast Clash…well, I can't say we'll miss you." Landel: "Do you think this is funny, Platt? Do you think is some kinda joke? They're screwing with people's lives here…..this isn't funny at all! Bruiser Brody is a lunatic that doesn't like me….this is a conspiracy to run the Platinum Club out of Twin States." Platt: "That's a real shame." Landel: "I wish I could say what I really want to say right now….but that's fine Charlie Platt, you and all these idiot redneck fans out here laugh it up…and just remember you thought you had me last week but the 'Nature Boy' always finds a way….and Gulf Coast Clash will be no different….and if Brody gets in my face, I'll slap a figure four leglock on him and send him back to wherever he came from!" ======================= MATCH #5: USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Semi-Finals "Bullet" Bob Armstrong pinned Hercules Ayala w/Downtown Bruno when Ayala tried to charge Armstrong in the corner right as the bell rang and Armstrong managed to side step Ayala and catch him with a school boy roll up for the surprise quick win! ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== MATCH #6: MAIN EVENT USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Semi-Finals Terry Taylor vs. Bad News Allen w/Slick A great back and forth match that went on for several minutes….with Taylor starting to get the upperhand….he managed hit to Bad News with the "five arm" and looked to have him beat when Bad News got a foot on the ropes….Slick laid his cane down on the ring apron and then jumped up on the opposite side of the ring and began to argue with the referee…..As Taylor went over to pick Allen up off the mat, Allen jabbed Taylor in the throat with the cane….Taylor went down and Bad News covered him as Slick got off the ring apron and the referee counted 1-2-3!! Platt: "Well that's unfortunate for Terry Taylor but…that means we will now see Bad News Allen face 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong right here on televsion next week in the finals of the tournament with the winner facing Terry Funk for the USWA World Championship the following day at Gulf Coast Clash!" RPG: "What a roller coaster ride of a show here today Platt…..from the tear jerking heartfelt apology from our beloved Twin States tag team champions to the absolute screwing of the Platinum Club by Jarrett and Thatcher….it's been a crazy show." Platt: "Well next week promises to be great as we'll not only see Bob Armstrong vs. Bad News Allen, we'll also have two qualifying matches for the David Von Erich Memorial tag team tournament as The Sheepherders face the Batten Twins and the Armstrongs face Fire and Flame…..I was also just informed that Bruiser Brody will be here in person next week, and that Blackjack Mulligan will be here as well …so for Ronnie P. Gossett, I'm Charlie Platt, we'll see you next week for more….Twin States Wrestling!" © 1986 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions

Twin States Wrestling Episode #26 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday January 16, 1986 From: the Mississippi Fairgrounds Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett Interviewer: Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rick Stewart (Show opens with a montage of Twin States Wrestling footage with a voiceover saying "Welcome to Twin States Wrestling bringing you the best professional wrestling action from across Alabama and Mississippi sanctioned by the USWA", we then go to the set to our hosts Charlie Platt and Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello and welcome once again to Twin States Wrestling, I'm your host Charlie Platt and of course I'm joined as always by the one and only Ronnie P. Gossett." RPG: "Fresh off last week's amazing title victory by Johnny and Tommy Rich, tonight I'm excited to see our champion Buddy Landel finally defeat Mr Olympia once and for all inside the steel cage." Platt: "Speaking of the Rich Cousins, they got themselves in a lot of hot water with their comments here on television last week and they are currently suspended from appearing on television for two weeks and may potentially be fined for some of the things they said here last week." RPG: "That's ridiculous Charlie Platt, there's a little thing called freedom of speech, but I guess according to Les Thatcher and Jerry Jarrett, that freedom doesn't apply to our new Twin States tag team champions." Platt: "Well, moving on from that…..we do have an exciting show for you here tonight as Ronnie Gossett pointed out, we have that incredible main event inside a steel cage with Buddy Landel defending against Mr. Olympia, we also have the four second round matches in the USWA World Championship contenders tournament, as well as a tag team challenge match where Scott Armstrong will team up with Chicky Starr against the Fabulous Blondes, Eric Embry and Steve Regal along with their manager 'Luscious' Johnny V." RPG: "I understand that we'll also be hearing from Joe Pedicino in the 'event center' telling us more matches being signed for the 'Gulf Coast Clash' coming up on Sunday January 31st in Biloxi, Mississippi and we'll also find out who the first four tag teams are that have secured their place in the big David Von Erich Memorial Cup Tag Team tournament coming up in February out in Texas and airing live on the USA Network." Platt: "We certainly will….but with all this action we have on tap, let's get to the ring for our opening bout." =================== MATCH #1: USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Round 2 "Bullet Bob Armstrong defeated "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski when Kiniski caught Armstrong with a belly to back suplex, both men's shoulders were down as the referee started to count but Armstrong got his shoulder up on the two count while Kiniski's was still down, making "Bullet" Bob the winner! =================== (We go to Joe Pedicino in the Twin States Event Center) Pedicino: "Good evening wrestling fans and welcome to the first Twin States Event Center of 1986! I've got a lot of big news for you this week including the first four tag teams from Twin States that will compete in the David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament. I can confirm right now that despite being the new Twin States Tag Team Champions, it's still up in the air on whether or not Johnny and Tommy Rich will be allowed to enter the tournament after the derogatory and disrespectful remarks made about the Von Erich family here on television last week. With that being said, here are the first four tag teams who ARE confirmed for the tournament. Team number one is a team that has been on a roll as of late, The Dynamite Duo of Brickhouse Brown and Norvell Austin. Team number two is the team of the Moondogs, Rex and Spot managed by Sir Oliver Humperdink. Team number three are the first ever Twin States tag team champions, The Nightmares, Danny Davis and Ken Wayne, and Team number four is the Fabulous Blondes of Eric Embry and Steve Regal managed by Luscious Johnny V. Now our next big event will take place in Biloxi, Mississippi on Sunday January 31st and it will be called 'Gulf Coast Clash'. Matches signed so far will be:" USWA World Championship Terry Funk vs. The Winner of the USWA Contenders Tournament BUNKHOUSE MATCH Blackjack Mulligan w/Kendall Windham vs. Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink First Blood Match The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) vs. The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink USWA Southern Jr. Heavyweight Championship 30 Minute Time Limit Scott Armstrong vs. Chicky Starr More matches to be announced soon (End of Event Center) =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #2: USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Round 2 Hecules Ayala w/Downtown Bruno defeated Ronnie Garvin with a half Boston Crab after working on Garvin's injured knee for several minutes, he hooked Garvin in the half crab with Garvin refusing to submit until he blacked out forcing the referee to stop the match and award it to Ayala =================== (VTR- We cut to the dining room of the "Mansion of Carl Fergie" as we see Fergie, Bad News Allen, and Slick sitting around the table) Slick: "Mister Money, thanks again for having us over for lunch….but where's the dude you want us to meet?" Fergie: "I sent a limo to pick him up from the airport, he should be here any moment. Allen, hope your hungry….My personal Chef has been in the kitchen preparing steak and lobster all morning." Slick: "Um, Carl….he prefers to be called Bad News." Fergie: "Of course, my apologies Mr Bad News." Bad News: "As long as you keep paying me, you can call me whatever you want….but I'm getting tired of waiting…let's gets this meal started." (Just then Frank Morrell enters and says, "Mr Fergie, your guest has arrived." With that 'Champagne' Gerry Morrow enters carrying a bottle of champagne) Fergie: "Gerald my friend! How was your flight?" Morrow: "Carl, it's always wonderful in de first class my friend. It's good to see you again and of course, I've brought de best champagne money can buy." (He hands the bottle to Frank Morrell who pours a glass for Carl, then Gerry, then Slick, before he can pour any for Bad News, he grabs the bottle and chugs directly from it as Morrow looks on in horror) Morrow: "Carl….what's de matter wit dis man? Has he no class?" Bad News: "What the hell did you just say?" Fergie: "Gerald, can I speak to you in the kitchen?" (Fergie/Morrow go into the kitchen alone….where there's another camera on them) Fergie: "Gerald, I'm so sorry about that….Listen, this guy is completely uncooth and beneath us….he's from the ghettos of Harlem, New York….but listen, he does ALL my dirty work….he's got the mean, if you've got the green…..get what I'm saying?" Morrow: "Ohhh, so he's a paid thug? He works for you?" Fergie: "No, he works for US! He's our insurance policy in Texas to make sure we walk out of there with that cup and the cash. He's also going to win this World title contenders tournament and when he beats Terry Funk for the title…he's going to sell it to ME!" Morrow: "I like dat! Perhaps I need to pay him to come to USWA to help out with this George Wells situation." Fergie: "Say the word….and I'll get him there…..but enough business for now….let's go enjoy some steak and lobster….and of course….some champagne…" (END VTR) =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #3 USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Round 2 Terry Taylor pinned "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony w/Downtown Bruno following a "five arm" (As Taylor is heading back to the dressing room, Ronnie Gossett waddles over to the aisle with a mic and stops him) RPG: "Terry Taylor, I'd like to get a quick word with you…..I wanted to offer you a moment to speak without getting steamrolled by Bob Armstrong….and I'd also like to know if you would like to comment on the fact you advanced in the tournament last week solely because of an obvious fast count from that greenhorn Daddy's boy, Jeff Jarrett." TT: "First of all, I wasn't steamrolled by my partner Bob Armstrong….so don't come out here trying to stir things up or claim there's smoke where there's absolutely no fire. Secondly, as for the so called 'fast count' by Jeff Jarrett, he may have gotten a little over zealous being it was his first time reffing a match and maybe his count wasn't consistent….but that's not on me….I just pinned the Dirty White Boy and there's no disputing that and if George Barnes wants another match with a different referee…I'll be more than happy to beat him again anytime they wanna sign the match…..now if you'll excuse…we're done here." =================== Platt: "Well there you have it from Terry Taylor, he's putting any rumors to rest that there's any tensions between he and his partner 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong. He also mentioned the incident last week with referee Jeff Jarrett…..his father Jerry Jarrett has some words about that situation….let's here from Mr. Jarrett right now." (VTR- Jerry Jarrett is sitting at his desk in his office) Jerry: "You know I sent my son down to Twin States Wrestling to be a referee while he trained to be a professional wrestler in hopes that he wouldn't encounter any issues related to being my son….but after an honest mistake with a count in his first match, he's already got George Barnes attacking him. It was my intention to fine and suspend George Barnes just like I would any wrestler that attacked any referee but Jeff has come to me and asked me, man to man to not fine or suspend George Barnes for his actions. He's also asked to stop being a referee and to begin his career as a pro wrestler….I don't feel he's ready for that just yet but I do agree that it's probably best if he stops being a referee. He's requested a match with George Barnes, again I don't feel he's ready for that….however, a guy who would like nothing more than to see George Barnes get beaten by a rookie, 'Superstar' Bill Dundee has agreed to come off the road and spend the next few weeks training Jeff one on one to get him ready for this match….so I'll keep an eye on his progress and announce right here on television when I feel Jeff is ready to make his debut against George Barnes." (END VTR) RPG: "Well I'm glad to see that at least Jerry Jarrett can admit he's raised an idiot who can't count and has no business being a referee….but if wants to get the kid killed, a gun would be quicker and less painful than letting George Barnes get his hands on him in a wrestling match…this will be a legalized murder." Platt: "We'll see about that….Jeff Jarrett is an athlete and he just may surprise you….especially with a great trainer like Bill Dundee." RPG: "Oh sure, if Jarrett was going to be facing Lord Littlebrook or Sky Low Low, there's no one better to train somebody than Bill Dundee….but to face a grown man….and a dangerous man like George Barnes…he's leading a lamb to slaughter…..and I couldn't be happier!" =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #4 USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament Round 2 Bad News Allen w/Slick defeated "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda by submission with the cross armbar after ramming Street's shoulder into the ringpost =================== Promo airs for the USWA David Von Erich Memorial Cup Tag Team Tournament =================== MATCH #5: Scott Armstrong/Chicky Starr fought The Fabulous Blondes (Eric Embry/Steve Regal) w/Johnny V to a double count out =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #6 MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH Twin States Heavyweight Championship "Nature Boy" Buddy Landell w/Luscious Johnny V vs. Mr. Olympia A wild hard hitting main event as Olympia came in looking for revenge….it appears to be Stubbs in the match after all. After 16 minutes of back and forth action, Olympia seems to have things going his way when he goes to shoot Landel into the cage but Landel reverses it and rams Olympia directly into the referee knocking him into the cage leaving the referee down and out……after a few moments, Olympia hits Landel with a DDT and goes for the cover but the ref is stilll out…..another referee runs down to ringside and unlocks the cage so he can replace the other referee but once he unlocks the cage and goes to enter it, he's pushed out of the way by Eric Embry and Steve Regal who enter the cage instead and attack Olympia…..within a few moments, the other two "Mr. Olympias" enter the cage and it's a wild six way brawl. Platt: "Fans, this has completely broken down now that Landel forced them to unlock the cage after taking out the referee." RPG: "That was clearly an accident Platt, it was not intentional." Platt: "I don't believe that…..either way we're out of time and there's no way the referee will regain control of this title match, tune in next week to find out what the ruling is and who ends up walking out the Twin States Champion!" © 1986 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions
  8. Dusty kicks off the show this week after that huge battle royal win for the USWA World title shot but here comes Ron Fuller to rain on his parade by pointing out he wasn't in that battle royal....a match between Rhodes/Fuller to determine the challenger for Funk....I like it! A lot!! Powerage are going to get a shot at getting in the tournament.....with the way things have gone for Hard Knocks lately it would seem like a foregone conclusion but you can't underestimate those two. Great promo by Karachi Vice putting over the tournament and get even more heat on themselves in the process.....when they eventually fall....you have to assume it's going to be hard! Still very anxious to see where Nord the Barbarian lands here in the USWA! Looks like we'll find out next week. King Curtis has built a dangerous stable so far, and I'm sure he's not done yet....Colon/Johnson/Strong are all in for a lot of trouble. Chic Donovan and Doug Sommers have arrive and it's revealed they are the "Bodacious" team that the Vin Man has been referring to....what a fun a way to debut them with the sing along....this is going to be a team to keep an eye on for sure! The Devil's Duo continues to look strong.....I can't wait to see who Paul Jones has lined up to take out the Spoiler! YES! Mr. Money and the Billionaires Champ finally come together in person and what better place to do it than the Beauty Shop! Great promo, I'm so excited about these two teaming up in the tournament! Going to be fun to watch! Hard hitting match between Rocky Johnson and Mark Lewin....that ends with Lewin trying to choke Johnson to death....thank goodness for his buddy George Wells making the save. The Fabs get their hands on Fuller/Golden next week.....they're going to be out for blood! I don't know who has the nerve to come to Memphis and claim to be the new "KING" but I can't wait to see who it is!! Great card for Louisville Gardens! I'll be getting my ticket for sure!!
  9. Finally! Texas All-Star is back on the air and coming from the Sportatorium! This feels right! Two huge title matches to get us back into the swing of things. Brian Adias manages to retain the TV title in a rematch with Joel Deaton and the 'Outlaw' is outta here! Great job having Dusek give the full rundown of how the David Von Erich Memorial is going to go down....it's a huge undertaking but I'm excited about it! Should really be a great boost to all of our tag team divisions. Jeff Gaylord gets a win over Snake Brown and then business really picks up....I love Santana and Sierra in their roles along with "El Jefe" as the Cartel! Estrada's promo was a homerun! "I've been in dumps nicer than this" was the line of the night, and believe me there was some great ones! Holy shit! Things take a hard left turn when Estrada instructs them to break Gaylord's arm.....if the humor in the promo made anyone think this was being played for fun, that all goes out the window when this happens....the Cartel means business and as of now may very well be the most dangerous threat in Texas! Great debut for "White Lightning" Tim Horner.....I have to think he'll have his eyes on the USWA Southern Jr Heavyweight championship, sooner or later. We get a tease for 'Luscious' coming soon.....this should be interesting! WOW! Johnny Mantell coming in hot this week and ready to square off with "El Jefe".....he might want to "put some respek" on Estrada's name or he might be the next guy with his arm in a sling! The Cartel are clearly not bullshitting here. The Fiesta Garden RETURNS!! I'm not gonna lie, I've been stoked about this ever since you picked up Madril from the AWA....and it was SO worth the wait! If there's anything I need to work on in this game that you and some of the others do great at....it's setting the stage and describing the scene where you can literally see this unfold as you read it. Madril gets his heat right out of the gate using his usual charm while insulting the fans and the entire state. Having Madril interview himself with the chair switching back and forth in the return was a stroke of genius as it puts all the heat and attention on him and really gets it over right out of the gate. Burying Gagne, Jarrett, and their kids was hilarious, and the crack about Dusek "skimming" was the runner up for line of the night! I'm hoping these all end with Madril and his "What did I do?" face, lol. Great stuff, I'll be looking forward to more of these! You couldn't ask for a better main event to make sure that everybody tunes back for the return of Texas All-Star.....A Texas Heavyweight title match.....in a cage....with a Funk as the challenger! The match delivered and helped further establish that Scott Casey is the real deal and is capable of carrying the ball he's been handed.....Awesome show as always, man!

  11. You can never go wrong kicking off a show with 'the American Dream'! If anyone was on the fence about heading out to the Dunn Center for the Battle Royal....this had to convince them! The Bruise Brothers have been on fire here recently, they have to hope that momentum carries over for the big DVE tag tournament King Curtis/Kamala/TNT have quickly established themselves as one of the most dangerous stables in the entire USWA- Colon/Strong better watch their backs at all times! Looks like Kevin Kelly's confidence is through the roof after taking out Tom Magee....however Big Man Steel may be a much bigger than challenge than he and the Vin Man realize The long awaited debut of the Fabs gets ruined by Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden! I'm so excited to see Fuller/Golden here...and along with the Tennessee Stud who seemingly ran Jerry Lawler out of the territory....they've all three started out with a bang here! I'm excited to see where Nord the Barbarian fits in here in the USWA, so many different directions he could go! The "Soul Man" has arrived! So many new faces flooding into the USWA it's a fun time to be a fan! I like the swerve of Jones making everyone think that the Spoiler was going to be a part of his Army but the Spoiler has other plans which plays well off of his last angle in Texas recently. Holy s***, I was just saying how dangerous King Curtis' crew was.....and now we add 'Maniac' Mark Lewin to the mix! Bad news for Colon and Billy Jack but it looks like they have some solid back up in Rocky Johnson. Nice win for Afi/Samoa....Hard Knocks just can't seem to get it together. Another great Terry Funk promo.....as he shows he's nuts by not only agreeing to put the USWA World title on the line at the DVE tourney show but insisting that he and Dory enter the tournament as well......I'm not betting against him in either endeavor. Great TV as always......on to the Dunn Center! Some fun six man tag combinations here! Jesse Barr gets the pin on Lance to get a much needed victory for himself and the Devil's Duo! Even in defeat.....I'm a big fan of the Morrow/Kelly/Vin Man team. Having watched a good bit of "Champagne" Morrow on Stampede Wrestling on Youtube recently, I'm an even bigger fan of him here....you've done such an amazing job getting him over! I'm not sure I've ever disliked a three man team more than St. Clair/Gagne/Savoldi.....well played! Kamala/TNT/Lewin vs. Colon/Rocky/Strong ended the only way it could at this point....looking forward to much more of this feud! Karachi Vice retain over the young Powerage team.....it seems the Vice have a stranglehold on those titles! YES....the battle royal comes down to Rhodes/Morrow.....the Common Man and the Champagne Man.....great way to end this one....and now we know we've got the Dream challenging Funk for the USWA World title at the DVE Memorial show! What else could you ask for in a World title match!?!
  12. Twin States picks up Butch Miller and Luke Williams, The Sheepherders and Ricky Gibson
  13. Twin States Wrestling Episode #25 Pre-Recorded Airing on: Saturday January 9, 1986 From: Montgomery Civic Center Montgomery, Alabama airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Welcome once again to Twin States Wrestling, I'm your host Charlie Platt along my co-host the one and only Ronnie P. Gossett." RPG: "Platt, we've got a huge show tonight as we'll be showing highlights of the other six first round matches in the USWA World Championship Contenders tournament." Platt: "That's true and in our main event, we'll see Brad Armstrong and 'Wildcat' Wendell Cooley defend the Twin States Tag Team titles against the two men who literally stole the belts from them at Santa Slam the night after Christmas, Johnny and Tommy Rich." (As Platt says this the tag team champions come out carrying the title belts, Cooley is limping badly and looks pretty worse for wear) RPG: "Not sure what you're talking about Platt, looks like they have the belts right there." Armstrong: "Shut your mouth Gossett, you know good and well those two attacked us after the match and stole the belts, Les Thatcher just gave them back to us as he told them there was not going to be a title match tonight if they didn’t return the belts they stole." Platt: "Are you guys sure you shouldn't postpone this match? Wendell, you still seem to be feeling the effects of being rammed crotch first into the ring post." Cooley: "Oh, I'm certainly feeling the effects, Mr. Platt. I can barely walk and I've been urninating blood for two weeks….but we've waited long enough to get our hands on those two jerks and I don't care if Brad has to carry me to that ring tonight, we're getting our revenge." Brad: "That's exactly right…..yeah, they took advantage of our good nature…and maybe we were a little naïve to accept their apology and open ourselves up to be attacked in Huntsville….but tonight, you better believe we know exactly what kinda guys they are….and we let our guards down once but you tonight we won't stop until we beat them to a bloody pulp in that middle of that ring!" Cooley: "You got it, Brad! Fool us once….shame on us! But you're the fool if you think you can fool us twice! Tonight, we're going to end you two and send you back to Tennessee where you belong!" Platt: "Let's go check out the third first round match in our World title contenders tournament." ================== MATCH #1: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 Ronnie Garvin defeated Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink by DQ when Khan was relentlessly working over the injured right knee of Garvin, the referee tried to step in and back him away and Khan gave the referee an overhand chop to the head…..and went back to work on the knee of Garvin until the fans started to go wild as suddenly Blackjack Mulligan appeared for the first time since Thanksgiving!! Mulligan was about to go in the ring when his son, Kendall Windham came running down to ringside and stopped him. Khan now distracted by Mulligan/Windham stopped his attack on Garvin. While Mulligan calls for a microphone. BJM: "Humperdink…..I want you and Killer Khan to listen to what I have to say…..I saw what yall did to my good friend Jerry Brisco and I've promised him that's not going to stand. I'm here tonight for one reason, boys…..I'm here to challenge Killer Khan to a bunkhouse match at the Gulf Coast Clash on Sunday night January 31st in Biloxi, Mississippi!" (In the ring Humperdink has been handed a microphone) Hump: "We came here to collect that bounty on you and we won't stop until we are paid every penny of it! So, yes Killer Khan accepts your challenge…anywhere….anytime!" =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== (As we return from the break, Downtown Bruno is standing in the ring) Bruno: "Last week, I introduced you to the first member of the 'Downtown Connection', the 'Dirty White Boy' Tony Anthony….now this week I introduce you to the monster that I'm about unleash on Twin States…and the man who is about to destroy this midget, Bill Dundee….he is HERCULES AYALA!!" ------------------------------- MATCH #2: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 Hercules Ayala w/Downtown Bruno vs. "Superstar" Bill Dundee Dundee used his quickness in the early stages of the match to get the better of the much larger Ayala…but after a distraction from Downtown Bruno, Ayala was able to get his hands on Dundee and control the remainder of the match and eventually get the win with a 'backbreaker' to advance in the tournament =================== (VTR- Terry Funk is seen at his ranch getting out of a pick up truck wearing his USWA World title belt, he flashes a clearly phony smile as he looks up and see the camera) Funk: "Well howdy there folks, welcome to the Double Cross Ranch here in beautiful Amarillo, Texas. I'm sure you've never seen such beautiful scenery with you being stuck there in Alabama and Mississippi, why I guess you folks haven't had the chance to see a real athlete and champion such as myself either. No, you poor people have to see egg suckin' dogs like Bob Armstrong, mask wearing goofs like Mr. Olympia, prancing sissies like Adrian Street, and sawed off wannabes like Bill Dundee. (spits on the ground) Now word around the campfire is Jerry Jarrett is letting them have a tournament down there where a bunch of these clowns are going to compete to see who gets to wrestle the Funker for the USWA World Championship…..can you imagine that? Why would a bunch of second rate, no talent losers want to compete to see who gets to LOSE against ME? I guess no one has told them that I'm the guy who beat up Jerry 'the Queen' Lawler so bad that he packed his bags and left the territory! Well that's just fine, you have your little tournament….and whoever the unfortunate soul is that wins the thing will have to face me and I'll beat their brains in so bad that they'll wanna leave the USWA too! Now get the hell outta here, the champ has things to do!" (END VTR) ===================== Before the next match, Joe Pedicino interviews a young Jeff Jarrett who says he's been training to wrestle for the past several months and has also been training as a referee because his Dad, Jerry Jarrett wants him to break into the business as a referee and eventually wrestle, but not around Memphis where some wrestlers may try to take out their grudges for his Dad on him. Jeff says he's getting ready to ref his first television match right now as part of the big tournament. ===================== MATCH #3: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 Terry Taylor vs. George Barnes Before the match referee Jeff Jarrett shakes hands with Terry Taylor and attempts to shake hands with Barnes who just slaps his hand and away and says, "ring the bell ya twit." Barnes broke the rules throughout this match, Jeff being the new ref had trouble enforcing the rules but the newcomer to Twin States, Taylor managed to get his knees up when Barnes came off the top rope with a splash then quickly rolled Barnes up for what seemed like a sorta fast three count! Barnes was making a case in the ring that Jarrett counted too fast but Taylor and Jarrett both quickly exited the ring. RPG: "What the heck was that Charlie Platt? Clearly that was the fastest count in wrestling history! Jerry Jarrett's stupid kid is a terrible referee! Not to mention, why would he let this entitled little snot nosed punk's first televised match he's ever refereed be a prestigious tournament match?? Why couldn't he ref a match that doesn't matter, like a Scott Armstrong match or something?? This is a travesty!" (Joe Pedicino stopped Taylor for a comment as he came back by the interview area) Pedicino: "I didn't get a chance to speak with you last week Terry but welcome to Twin States." Taylor: "Thanks Joe, I'm excited to be here….I'm super excited to be in this tournament and I'm going to fight with everything I've got to get that USWA title shot against Terry Funk. Hey, and I'm also looking for a partner for that David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament!" (Bob Armstrong comes walking out) Bullet Bob: "Hey Terry, I just wanted to say congrats on the great win and welcome to Twin States! I also wanted to tell ya, if you're looking for a partner…I'm your guy!" Taylor: "Wow? Seriously? I would love to be your partner!" Bullet Bob: (shaking his hand) "Well my friend, consider it done. Not to take away from your time here Terry but I just wanted to mention that I'm so happy that the Armstrong Family is now whole here in Twin States as my boy Steve has returned from the Pacific Coast and he has a match in this tournament tonight and he's going to be teaming with his brother Scott in that tag team tournament so the gang's all here!" Taylor: "Awesome, thanks Mr. Armstrong and I'm looking forward to winning that money with you out in Texas!" Bullet Bob: "You got that right, brother! Just one more thing…..Bad News Allen, your butt is mine son….you understand me, sooner or later, you and I are going to have a match and when we do, I'm going to show you what 'Bad News' really is!" ==================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ==================== (Buddy Landel comes out to the desk and interupts) RPG: "Look Platt, what a pleasant surprise…our reigning Twin States Champion is here!" Buddy: "It's great to see you, Ronnie….still dropping weight I see….you look skinnier everytime I see you, unlike Charlie Platt over here who is ballooning up a little more each week….might wanna switch to light beer there chubs." Platt: "We have a lot going on this week and you aren't scheduled to be out there." Buddy: "Is that any way to speak to a champion? I think not, anyway…here's what I wanted to say Ronnie. I just wanted to point out that I think it's great that ever since I left the NWA, the so called Diamond Club has gone to hell in a hand basket. Tully Blanchard lost his title, Baby Doll was suspended….Dibiase and Williams barely have anything to do with them anymore…." Platt: "What does that have to do with anything going on in Twin States Wrestling? Why are you out here talking about people who don't wrestle here, a lot of the fans watching this show aren't aware of who they are." Buddy: "Ok, so I'll school them…..Tully Blanchard is a pathetic Buddy Landel wannabe, and if you've never seen Baby Doll, just picture Barry Windham in drag…" (Platt cuts him off) Platt: "If you insist on being out here, why don't we at least talk about how you got pinned in that six man tag match last week and how you have to defend your Twin States championship against Mr. Olympia next week in a cage on this very program." Buddy: "Charlie Platt, I would normally slap the hell out of an announcer for that level of disrespect but I know it's just the booze talking so I'm going to give you a pass, but you really need to go get some help, because people care about you…I mean..I don't, Ronnie doesn't…and none of the Platinum Club cares about you but I'm sure some of these sad sacks that watch this show do……so if not for yourself, go get cleaned up for them." Platt: "For the last time, I DON'T DRINK!" Buddy: "Take it easy Platt, nobody likes an angry drunk." Platt: "I'm not drunk, I don't drink at all." Buddy: "Sure you don't Platt…..you don't drink and I'm sure Norvell Austin doesn't steal stereos out of people's cars and Kendall Windham isn't bulimic. Anyway, I have nothing to say about last week and I all I have to say about next week is…..no matter who puts that Mr. Olympia mask on and enters that cage next week…I promise you I will walk out still the champion!" ==================== MATCH #4: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony w/Downtown Bruno vs. Steve Armstrong As Steve Armstrong is coming down the aisle shaking hands with the fans, he's attacked from behind by Bad News Allen! Bad News locks him into a cross armbar on the floor cranking hard on the arm and shoulder of young Steve Armstrong……Bad News breaks the hold and retreats as Bob Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, and Terry Taylor come running out for the save. Armstrong's shoulder is clearly hurt and it's announced he will not be able to compete tonight and that the Dirty White Boy will get a 'bye' into the next round of tournament. Les Thatcher comes out and announces that moving forward in this tournament, ANYONE who interferes before, during, or after a tournament match will be fined and suspended and if they are in the tournament they will be automatically eliminated! =================== Promo airs for the USWA David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team Tournament coming Feb 12/13/14! ------------------------------- (We go to Joe Pedicino in the interview area being joined by Johnny & Tommy Rich) Pedicino: "I see you guys have returned the Twin States tag team title belts to their rightful owners." Tommy: "It's only temporary Pedicino, we'll be taking them back home with us tonight….but we'll get to that in a minute…now, tell me something Pedicino, I hear you're a stooge that has your ear to the door of all the important USWA meetings….tell me why this big tournament is a so called David Von Erich Memorial show, but there ain't no Von Erichs in the tournament?? I realize that Fritz's favorites are up in New York, but hell, they couldn't at least get the fake cousin from Memphis to be in it?" Pedicino: "Come on Tommy…." Johnny: "What about the one that's slow now? Can he even wrestle anymore?" Tommy: "From what I saw he never could rassle….hell, get old man Fritz in there and let him try to squeeze our heads with that claw…..we'll send him to go be with David for good!" Pedicino: "That's disgusting….can we please talk about tonight's match!" Johnny: "Ok big guy….let's talk about it. Let's talk about the fact Wendell Cooley can barely walk right now yet he demanded to wrestle us tonight because he's upset we stole their belts and rammed his wee wee into the ring post." Tommy: (laughing) "That was hilarious….they thought we would really apologize to them like that….they deserved everything they got and tonight, we're going to get what we deserve when we win those belts right here on television in front of God and everybody!" Pedicino: "Tommy, I certainly hope that's true….I honestly hope you guys get EVERYTHING you deserve tonight, right here on tv." Tommy: "Well thank ya, Joe…..I can promise you we will….and when we're done tonight with that half crippled Cooley, they may have to make it the Skinny Von Erich/Wendell Cooley Memorial Tag Team Tournament….then maybe they'll move it out of stinkin' Texas cause you know all they have in Texas is steers and " Pedcino: "CUT! We're done here!!" (The Richs walk away laughing) =================== MATCH #5: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda vs. Lord Jonathan Boyd A hard hitting match, with Street working to lock Boyd into wrestling holds while Boyd is doing his best to turn things into brawl….things go back and forth with neither seeming to be able to get a clear advantage when Street catches Boyd out of nowhere with an 'Oklahoma Roll' and gets the pin fall! =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== (We cut to the "VIP Dressing Room" where Frank Morrell is finishing a phone call as Slick/'Mr. Money' Carl Fergie/Bad News Allen are sitting in recliners) Morrell: "Alright Mr. Fergie, it's all set….Mr. Morrow will be here next week for the meeting you requested." Fergie: "Excellent! Slick, you guys are going to love Gerry! He's a classy guy and he always brings the finest champagne with him." Bad News: "Well make sure he brings a LOT! By the way, I'm going to need some more cash for taking out Steve Armstrong earlier." Fergie: "Actually Allen, I didn't ask you to do that….I don't really have an issue with Steve Armstrong.." (Bad News springs up out of the chair) Bad News: "Look Dummy! You have a problem with Bob Armstrong, what better way to mess with his head and take him out off his game than to beat up his stupid son his first night in…Do you wanna have an issue with me??" (Slick jumps in between) Slick: "Woah woah….hold on now my brother…there's no need to get heated over this. I'm sure now that you've pointed out the benefits of what you did, Mr. Fergie will be glad to pay you for your services tonight." Fergie: (hesitant) "How much are we talking?" Bad News: "Not a lot….I'd say fifty grand should cover it." Fergie: "Fifty grand?? Are you crazy??" Bad News: "Slick, I'm about to show this fool what crazy is…" Slick: "Now hold on Bad News….Listen Mr. Fergie, you're a damn millionaire….why are we squabling over a measely fifty grand? Have you forgotten how Bad News saved your title at Santa Slam? That's chump change to a man like you." Bad News: "Good point Slick, I'm gonna to need at least a hundred grand or I might just coming looking for that Gulf Coast title myself." Fergie: "No no…take it easy Allen. I have an even better proposition for you. How about…if you win this tournament, I'll pay you one hundred and fifty grand to give me your USWA World Title match." (Slick's eyes light up) Bad News: "That's not bad….but I have a counter offer….see I know business lingo too. Since we both know there's no way you could beat Terry Funk for that belt, how about you give me two hundred grand not IF I win but WHEN I win this tournament….and WHEN I beat Terry Funk….I'll GIVE you the USWA World Championship!" Morrell: "That's a good deal boss!" Fergie: "Shut up Frank! Mind your business! Ok, Allen…you've got yourself a deal." Slick: "Of course I'll get my thirty percent." Bad News: "Get it from him….my money…is MY money!" (Bad News turns and leaves) Slick: "See ya later, Champ…..we've got a first round match to win!" ------------------------------- MATCH #6: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 Bad News Allen w/Slick vs. "Iceman" King Parsons Iceman makes a good showing for himself but Bad News manages to put him away by submission with his new cross armbar he debuted earlier in the night in the aisle against Steve Armstrong. (Afterwards, Bad News grabs the house mic in the ring) Bad News: "Bob Armstrong, you old coward…..come on out here and face me….you gutless old man. Look what I did to your boy! I'll do you, Scott, and Brad the same way! Bring their old ugly mama down here and I'll break her arm too!" (Bob Armstrong has heard enough and is headed down the aisle but is being held back by Scott Armstrong, Terry Taylor, and the Nightmares) RPG: "That's brilliant Platt, Bad News knows after that announcement from Thatcher that if Armstrong manages to lay a finger on him in that ring right now he'll be fined, suspended, and out of the tournament." Platt: "I know it was before the ruling but Bad News should be fined, suspended and out of the tournament after what he did to Steve Armstrong earlier tonight." (the babyfaces manage to talk Bob down and get him back to the dressing room) =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #7: MAIN EVENT TWIN STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP- Rematch Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley vs. Johnny/Tommy Rich In the closing moments of what was a wild main event, All four men were fighting in the ring. Brad tossed Tommy to the floor and continued the fight on the outside, referee Ed Brock followed them out to try and get them back to their corners……Cooley hooked Johnny for the running bulldog but Johnny gave him a vicious low blow and Cooley crumbled to the mat, Johnny quickly covered Cooley and hooked both legs, the referee spotted the cover and slid back in and counted 1-2-3!! Johnny and Tommy are the new Twin States Tag Team Champions!! As the show prepares to go off the air, both Johnny and Tommy Rich hold up their newly won championship belts with their left hands and make a "Claw" with their right hands while getting right in the camera and poorly singing "Yellow Rose of Texas" RPG: "Charlie, have I told you how much I LOVE the Rich Cousins?" Platt: "No, but I can tell you this…..they might not make it out of Texas alive if they keep this up….fans we'll see you next week for more….Twin States Wrestling!" © 1986 Twin States Wrestling Inc/Jarrett Promotions
  14. Twin States picks up Todd Morton
  15. and the last piece falls into place....Texas Wrestling returns to the Sportatorium! 1986 should be the best year yet in this game!!
  16. The New Year's Eve special starts out STRONG with a big win for Billy Jack, that brainbuster is going to be tough to beat! Very excited about the tag team tournament! It should serve as a great showcase for all three promotions! Rip Morgan is consistently becoming one of the most dangerous men in the game! The Fabs arrive next week! I'm interested to see who they set their sights on or someone already has their sights set on them! The Nightmares are having a tough time lately....between the Moondogs back home and getting blasted by a foreign object in their big title shot......they are going to come to Texas with something to prove for the David Von Erich Memorial tag tournament. Dream Machine telling the crowd he hates them and hopes they have a miserable new year made legit laugh out loud....I love the Dream Machine! Dick Slater however....does NOT love the Dream Machine...he gets a little revenge here but he's looking for more when they step in the ring! Big Bubba Steelmaster is coming! I enjoyed his work in Memphis IRL during '86 with Downtown Bruno and Mighty Goliath so I'm looking forward to his run here in USWA! If Savoldi was able to say that Greg Gagne is his hero with a straight face he deserves an Academy Award...lol.....I do like this tag team though and the Technicians are the perfect team for them to feud with. A fun Beauty Shop segment with Mike George that was entertaining while managing to recap what's gone down with George and Jesse Barr. Great way to bring back George Wells with the mask and getting a quick disputable win over Morrow.....with the backstory these two I have I'm looking forward to seeing this play out. "The Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller returns by getting a win over "the King" on television! WOW! That's making an impact! I love it! I'm huge fan of Fuller and I can't wait to see where this leads! I'm happy to see Paul Jones turn up here in the USWA, I've have fun using him in this game in the past and I think he's a perfect fit with the Devil's Duo and the Spoiler will certainly fit right in as well!! WHAT A MAIN EVENT! Terry Funk retains the title over Carlos Colon in the midst of interference from TNT and KAMALA!! Billy Jack Strong comes to Colon's aid and this is going to be a wild feud I'm sure! NEW YEAR'S DAY! Nice to see the Technicians get the win over Gagne/Savoldi! Looks like Mr. Magnificent and the Vin Man have taken out Tom Magee Billy Jack Strong gets a count out win over TNT but I'm sure this is far from over Sivi Afi finds a very likely partner in Cocoa Samoa fresh off his brutal match with Estrada in Texas......poor Hard Knocks are having that Hard Knock Life Barr gets a little revenge with a handful of tights! Morrow sets things straight with Wells.....you don't cross the Champagne man!! The Devil's Duo are going to be determined to take those titles....Jones will not settle for defeat....the Bruise Brothers may need somebody in their corner soon Slater retains but you know the Dream Machine will still have something to say about it! Great way to end '85 and kick off '86! Awesome shows!!
  17. Twin States Wrestling Episode #24 Airing on: Saturday January 2, 1986 From: Expo Hall in Mobile, Alabama airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Happy new year, wrestling fans! Welcome to 1986 and a brand new year of Twin States Wrestling, I'm your host Charlie Platt and while it is a brand new year…some things haven't changed as I'm still joined by my co-host Ronnie P. Gossett." RPG: "And thank goodness for that huh, Charlie. Listen, I realize what you are implying with your snarky introduction but guess what, Chuck….you can't ruin my mood because I'm still on cloud nine after 'Santa Slam'…..we have a BRAND NEW TWIN STATES CHAMPION, my very best friend in the wrestling business the one and only real and true Nature Boy….Buddy Landel! Not only did he take the title but he pulled that stupid sock off of Jerry Stubbs' bald head! It was wonderful! Somebody in the truck, put up that picture I asked for of Mr Olympia unmasked..." Platt: "Ok….so….we're just going to act like Eric Embry didn't dress up like Santa Claus to interfere and cost Olympia the match……we're ignoring that?" RPG: "First of all, that's purely you and those stupid fans at ringside speculating that was Eric Embry….that was NOT Eric Embry, no one can prove that it was, because it wasn't him and to imply that Santa Claus is Eric Embry would completely ruin Christmas for every child watching this program so how dare you, Charlie Platt!?!?" Platt: "I'm not saying THE Santa Claus is Eric Embry, I'm saying after having the Platinum Club barred from the building, Embry chose to dress up like Santa Claus so he could sneak into the building and interfere…" RPG: "Wow, there is absolutely no evidence to back up that claim whatsoever….and I'm going to have to insist we change the subject right now and talk about something else from Santa Slam." Platt: "Ok, would you like to talk about how the Dynamite Duo defeated the Fabulous Blondes? Would you like to talk about the amazing match that took place between Chicky Starr and Scott Armstrong? What about how Bill Dundee brought in Adrian Street as his partner and they beat the Violent Gentlemen…." RPG: "Nope…..let's talk about how Killer Khan ended the career of Jerry Brisco just like he did Blackjack Mulligan! Let's talk about how "Mr. Money" successfully defended his title against Bob Armstrong…" Platt: "Yes, let's talk about HOW he managed to defeat Bob Armstrong…." RPG: "It doesn't matter HOW, it just matters that he DID….there's no details in the pro wrestling record book, it only details WINS and LOSES….and Armstrong LOST!" (Scott Armstrong who is in the opening match comes out to the desk) Scott: "Listen here Gossett! It was a disgrace that Fergie had to have Frank Morrell, Slick, AND Bad News Allen intefere to retain his title…..but I'll let the man himself school you on that later….I just want to say it was a pleasure competing against Chicky Starr at Santa Slam and even though the time ran out I look forward to wrestling him again soon……and I just want to say I don't plan on being a closet champion, I'll proudly defend this title against ANY challenger from across the USWA promotions, sign that dotted line and we'll get in that ring and compete….and unlike Carl Fergie, or that chump Buddy Landel, I'll defend this title with honor and dignity, each and every time!" (Armstrong heads towards the ring) Platt: "There you have it from a true champion, Ronnie." RPG: "True champion? Give me a break Platt…..he's a joke just like the rest of the Armstrongs." Platt: "We'll see about that, before we go to the ring I want to remind everyone that tonight we'll be kicking off our USWA World Championship Contenders Tournament with the first two matches of the first round with the winner of the tournament challenging the USWA World Champion, Terry Funk. The first match in the tournament later tonight will feature a newcomer to Twin States, one of Blackjack Mulligan's sons…Kendall Windham taking on the man who calls himself, 'Mr. Pro', Kelly Kiniski. In the second first round match that will take place tonight 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong will take on a man making his return to the area, and a man Bob Armstrong is certainly no stranger to…The Flame. However right now, let's see Scott Armstrong in action!" RPG: "Is Kendall Windham the one that looks like a mop turned upside down?" Platt: "Keep it up Gossett…..just keep it up." =================== MATCH #1: USWA Southern Jr Heavyweight Champion Scott Armstrong pinned Ned Navarro following a superkick ==================== (Mr. Olympia walks out to the desk wearing his mask) RPG: "What are you doing Stubbs? Why do you have that mask back on? Buddy exposed you at Santa Slam when he took your title!" Olympia: "First off, he STOLE the title thanks to Embry Claus, but we'll come back to that later. As for why I'm wearing this mask…..he's been saying for weeks that I'm Jerry Stubbs, supposedly EVERYONE knows it's Jerry Stubbs under the mask…..so what did he really reveal?" ('We are the Champions' by Queen plays as Buddy Landel/Eric Embry/Steve Regal/Johnny V make their way over to Ronnie's side of the desk while Olympia is over on Platt's side of the desk) Landel: "Let me just say right out of the gate, Jerry Stubbs…..thank you for putting the mask back on because for one, you're as ugly as these stupid fans here in Mobile, and for another I forgot my sunglasses this week and the glare off that bald head of your's would have blinded me….I also want to commend Charlie Platt for even showing up tonight as I'm sure you're still hung over from New Years." Olympia: "Listen Landel, I've had about enough of you implying that Charlie Platt is an alcholic, the man doesn't even drink….and you can make all the jokes you want about my bald head but the fact remains if it wasn't for that imbicile Embry dressing up like Santa Claus and interfering, YOU would have lost just like you did the night I shaved your stupid head…..who was bald that night, Nature Boy?" Landel: "As you can see, Stubbs….unlike Blackjack Mulligan or Jerry Brisco, my hair is BACK and more luxurious than ever, and never leaving again! As for your unfounded accusation about my great friend and compadre Eric Embry, Eric was back at the hotel when our match was going on and there's beautiful young lady who can account for that, if you know what I mean…..it's not my fault you were on the naughty list and Santa whom I don't even know, decided to make you pay for it!" Olympia: "Speaking of 'paying for it', I'm sure if what you say is true and Embry was with a lady at the hotel, then he's got a receipt to prove it." Landel: "How dare you imply such a thing?? Eric Embry gets more dates than a calendar……there's gynecologists that spend less time between women's legs than Eric...." (Platt interupts) Platt: "Hold on….easy now….good grief." Olympia: "Listen, I could come out here and complain and make excuses but what happened…happened and I can't change that but since you seem to have it all figured out, you know who Mr. Olympia is…and you know what it takes to beat me….I've went out and found two partners and I'm challenging you right now to face us right here tonight in the main event…..if you can beat us….not only will I take this mask off for good but I'll leave Twin States forever! However, if we win, I get to choose the stipulation for my return match for the Twin States Championship." Embry: "Well Mr. Big Shot we accept your challenge because we can't lose….we already weeded out the loser at Santa Slam….just ask Chic Donovan what the Platinum Club does to losers!" (Landel cuts in) Landel: "What the hell are you doing? You don't speak for us! I'm the leader here!" Olympia: "What's the matter, Buddy? Afraid you'll be the next to get turned on when you get pinned tonight?" Landel: "Nope….far from it! I'm not saying we don't accept…because when we beat you tonight…that means you're outta here and then there's no rematch at all…..besides who could you get as partners anyway? The Dimwit Duo of Brickhouse and Norvell! We want revenge on them anyway." Olympia: "While those guys would make great partners…..they aren't who I have in mind….do you accept the challenge or not?" (Johnny V whispers something to Landel who smiles and nods) Landel: "Alright tough guy…..yes, we accept and I suggest everyone put on their sunglasses for when you have to take that mask off again and those bright lights hit that shiny bald head!" (Platinum Club leaves) Olympia: "Charlie, they think they have it all figured out with Mr Olympia…..but they're going to see they don't know as much as they think they do." (Olympia leaves) RPG: "What the hell does that even mean?" Platt: "I guess we'll find out later tonight." =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== MATCH #2: The Moondogs (Rex/Spot) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink defeated Frank Reynolds/Roy Munson when Spot pinned Munson after diving headbutt Post match: Humperdink yells into the camera about how the Moondogs aren't through with the Nightmares and his patience is wearing thin waiting to be paid the bounty money! =================== (VTR: A highlight video of USWA World Champion Terry Funk is shown ending with footage of Funk defeating Jerry Lawler for the title) -------------------------------- MATCH #3: USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski pinned Kendall Windham with his feet on the ropes to advance =================== MATCH #4: Terry Taylor pinned Bubba Monroe following a "Five Arm" =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== (As we return from the break, Ronnie P. Gossett is standing over in the interview area) RPG: "Right now it's my pleasure to introduce a new manager that has made his way here to Twin States from the big city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania…..it's my pleasure to introduce Downtown Bruno." (A scrawny young man comes out carrying a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag) Bruno: "First off, thank you Ronnie P. Gossett for being the one to interview me today….Buddy Landel has told me all about you and the so called host, Charlie Platt so I thought I would get in his good graces by bringing him a nice bottle of Boone's Farm wine." (hands it over to Gossett) RPG: "Well, how thoughtful Bruno, I'll make sure he gets it….I'm sure he'll polish it off before we go off the air tonight." Bruno: "I'm sure you're right. Anyway, once again it's a pleasure to speak to you Mr. Gossett but I can't say it's a pleasure to be in Mobile, Alabama of all places. I'm used to being in the big city of Pittsburgh…I'm used to hanging out on Fort Duquesne Boulevard ya see…..so I decided if I'm going to come to the deep south and manage….then I needed somebody that knows what the deep south is all about, so I headed down to Bucksnort, Tennessee and I've found the baddest, meanest man to ever step foot in a wrestling ring….and he's about to step in that ring right now….and that man is none other than the 'Dirty White Boy' Tony Anthony!" (Dirty White Boy walks out and joins Gossett and Bruno) Bruno: "Looks at this man right here Mr. Gossett…..this isn't some bodybuilder that only knows how to pick up and put down weights…..this isn't some amatuer wrestling nerd that only knows how to play by the rules….oh no, they call this man the Dirty White Boy cause that's what he is…he's a fighter, he's down and dirty and will do whatever it takes to get the job done…..now I know there's gonna be a lot of wrestlers and managers that aren't happy to see us here in Twin States, I know there's going to be a lot of these welfare cases out there in the crowd that's not happy we're here…..but you know what Mr. Gossett…..it's like Mama says….it's beez that way sometimes!" ('Dirty White Boy' by Foreigner plays as they head down to the ring) ------------------------------- MATCH #5: "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony w/Downtown Bruno pinned Randy Watson a clothesline to the back of the head =================== (VTR: Joe Pedicino is backstage with Johnny & Tommy Rich who have on shiny new satin jackets) Pedicino: "You guys sure do seem awful happy despite how things turned out at Santa Slam." Tommy: "Joe Pedicino, why wouldn't we be happy? We had a great Christmas and an even greater new year! Speaking of Christmas, look at this fancy new jackets that Santa Claus brought us! Ain't these nice?" Pedicino: "Quite stylish I must admit." Johnny: "Not only are they stylish….but they're pretty darn warm, a little too warm right now….let's pop these things off 'Wildfire'!" (they both unbutton and remove their jackets revealing that they are wearing the stolen Twin States Tag Team title belts) Pedicino: "Guys…you did not win these at Santa Slam…why would you wanna steal the belts?" Tommy: "Well those guys were ok with stealing a win……so why wouldn't we be ok with stealing the belts?" Pedicino: "I saw the match and I'm not really sure why you would say they stole the win, they beat you guys fair and square." Johnny: "That's just your opinion Joe….and you know what they say about opinions…..listen if those two want these belts back so bad….all they have to do is meet us in the ring and come get them!" Tommy: "That's exactly right, we'll be there on television next week and we're challenging Cooley and Armstrong right now to a rematch and if they have an ounce of guts, they'll accept. Oh and another thing…..I hear rumors the USWA have got a big Memorial tag team tournament coming up for that Von Erich that bought the farm over in Japan…..well cousin Johnny and I are letting it be known right now….we want in!" =================== COMMERCIAL for the VHS cassette of Twin States Wrestling's Thanksgiving Thunder '85 =================== (Before he heads to the ring for his tournament match, Bob Armstrong joins Joe Pedicino in the interview area) Pedicino: "Bob, I know you have a lot on your plate as you head to the ring to face an old rival in the Flame in the tournament for a USWA World title shot….but do you care to comment about what went down at Santa Slam?" Armstrong: "Sure, I'll comment on what happened….what happened was I beat Carl Fergie all over that ring like a rented mule and he paid this Bad News Allen guy to come down and interfere so he could hang on to the title he stole in the first place……he only has it because Kamala helped him win it….and he only kept it last week because Bad News Allen ran in and helped him……well Mr. Allen…the Bad News for you is….you've crossed the Bullet and when you do that I can promise you it's not going to be worth whatever 'Mr. Money Bags' is paying you. Now enough about Mr. Bad News….let's talk about this tournament…this situation here is what they call a win/win….because if I can win this thing I can get a USWA World Championship match with Terry Funk…..not only do I want to win that World Championship…..but I've still got a score to settle with Terry Funk over things that took place last year so Terry Funk, you better believe I'm going to be working extra hard to get my hands on you…..and one last thing….the USWA has this huge David Von Erich Memorial Tag Team tournament coming up and their gonna be pairing up like Noah's Ark to go after that money….well you better believe that I'll be finding me a partner for that thing…..it may be one of my sons…..it may be somebody else but you better believe I plan on being a part of it!" (Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood plays as "Bullet" Bob heads to the ring) ------------------------------- MATCH #6 USWA World Title Contenders Tournament Round 1 "Bullet" Bob Armstrong defeated The Flame with a sleeperhold After the match, as soon as the bell rang, Bad News Allen hit the ring and attacked Armstrong but Armstrong managed to fight back and the two brawled all around ringside and up the aisle back to the dressing rooms! =================== COMMERCIAL BREAK =================== As we return from the break, Charlie Platt let's us know that next week…the match has been signed as Johnny/Tommy Rich will take on Brad Armstrong/Wendell Cooley in a rematch for the Twin States tag team titles……we'll see two more first round matches in the USWA World Title Contenders Tournament, and will also see 'Exotic' Adrian Street take on Lord Jonathan Boyd, and much, much more! ------------------------------- MATCH #7 MAIN EVENT SIX MAN TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH (If Platinum Club wins, Mr. Olympia must unmask and leave Twin States/If Olympia's team wins, then he gets to choose the stipulation for his championship rematch) The Platinum Club (Buddy Landel/Eric Embry/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V. vs. Mr. Olympia/Mystery Partners The Platinum Club make a big spectacle out of their entrance and are strutting around and seem to be in a great mood. Mr Olympia makes his way down to the ring as Buddy Landel takes the house mic from the ring announcer and says, "What's a matter Stubbs? Couldn't find any partners could you?? Haha, just forfeit….take the mask back off and leave town!" Olynpia points back to the aisle….as another Mr. Olympia with nearly the same build wearing the exact same mask and gear comes down the aisle, as he gets to the ring, he then points back down the aisle as ANOTHER Mr. Olympia with a similar build and the exact same mask and gear comes down to ringside…..all three Olympias slide into the ring and lay into Landel/Embry/Regal who quickly powder out! Things settle down and we have a great six man tag team match that after about 9 minutes breaks down into a six way brawl and in the midst of it, one of the Olympias pins Landel with a backslide and gets the win! Platt: "There it is, Ronnie…..Mr. Olympia just pinned the champion Buddy Landel!" RPG: "Well one of them did, but was it Jerry Stubbs??" Platt: "I guess it has to be….you guys say Mr. Olympia is Jerry Stubbs!" RPG: "Well clearly all three of them are not Jerry Stubbs! Which one is Landel going to have to defend against??" Mr. Olympia grabs the house mic, "Landel, on January 23rd in Jackson, Mississippi right here on television….I want you in a STEEL CAGE MATCH for the title!" RPG: "Wait a minute, that didn't sound like Stubbs!?! Who is that?? Is that who Buddy will be wrestling?" Platt: "Well….to be fair, the stipulation didn't say that STUBBS would be getting the rematch, it simply said….MR OLYMPIA." RPG: "This isn't fair! Landel shouldn't have to defend against somebody else with the mask on! He beat Stubbs, the rematch should be with Stubbs!!" Platt: "Maybe it will be…..but…..maybe it won't. Fans, tune in next week for more on this situation and many others right here on Twin States Wrestling!" © 1986 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions
  18. Great way to open the show with Lance Von Erich vs. Jesse Barr! Fun match with "Santa" Mike George getting some revenge and popping the crowd giving Lance Von Erich the win. The Devil's Duo manage to not go down to the Bruise Brothers and I'm excited to see these two teams tie up again real soon. Karachi Vice seem to be underestimating the Nightmares.....that could cost them! I like the Mega Man moniker for Tom Magee, it will be interesting to see if wrestling's most notorious underachiever can make it happen here in the USWA Will 1986 really be the year of the "Vin Man"? Just maybe....depends on if "Bodacious" lives up to the hype! Solid Mid America title defense against Duke Meyers for Slater....I've watched quite a few Duke Meyers' matches recently on Youtube, I hadn't seen a lot of him before so it's made ready about him here even more fun. What better way to reintroduce Ron Fuller to the USWA fans than here on the Beauty Shop with Ms. Brenda! Terry Funk is always a highlight for me each week....another fun promo building up to what should be a great title match against Carlos Colon on New Year's Eve! Super excited for Lawler vs. the Tennessee Stud next week.....it feels like the start of something big!
  19. Twin States sends Chic Donovan to the USWA and drops the soon to be retiring Jerry Brisco, as well as Larry Hamilton.
  20. Twin States Wrestling presents Santa Slam '85 Von Braun Civic Center Huntsville, Alabama Saturday December 26, 1985 Bell time: 7pm Charlie Platt enters the ring and welcomes everyone out to 'Santa Slam', he welcomes out a special guest, who "just made it into town after delievering presents all over the world", Santa Claus. He announces that Santa will be going around throughout the night meeting all the children and will take pictures with them during intermission. Platt then announces that Larry Hamilton was severely injured earlier this week at the hands of the Moondogs and will not be able to compete tonight, however Norvell Austin has found a replacement partner in Brickhouse Brown! Platt then gets interrupted by "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski who says it's time for his "Pure Wrestling Challenge"! His challenge is quickly answered when "Iceman" King Parsons comes down to ringside "Mr. Pro's Pure Wrestling Challenge" "Mr. Pro" Kelly Kiniski pinned "Iceman" King Parsons with an "Oklahoma Roll" and a handful of tights, Afterwards, Parsons pleads his case with the referee that Kiniski pulled his tights but "Mr. Pro" quickly left ringside and retreated back to the dressing room The Dynamite Duo (Brickhouse Brown/Norvell Austin) defeated The Fabulous Blondes (Chick Donovan/Steve Regal) w/Luscious Johnny V when Austin pinned Donovan with a sunset flip. Afterwards Johnny V and Regal got pretty heated with Donovan until Eric Embry came out and suprisingly once again seemed like the voice of reason……and once it seemed like everything was settled, Embry suddenly turned around and blasted Donovan with a clothesline! Regal and Embry put the boots to Donovan….when Johnny V motioned for them to give him the spike piledriver……they threw Donovan out on the concrete floor and gave him a spike piledriver on the floor and walked off laughing while Donovan writhed on the floor clutching his neck Special Added Attraction Non Title Match USWA Southern Jr Heavyweight Champion Scott Armstrong wrestled Chicky Starr to a 15 minute time limit draw, afterwards Armstrong shook Starr's hand and agreed to meet again soon in an extended time limit title match The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink by DQ when Spot hit Ken Wayne in the back with a steel chair right in front of the referee and hit Davis in the head busting him open once again Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink pinned Jerry Brisco following a knee drop from the top rope, after the match Khan rolled Brisco over face down and gave him another knee drop off the top rope to the back of his neck. Brisco had to be stretchered out as he was completely motionless after the second knee from the top rope GRUDGE MATCH "Superstar" Bill Dundee/Mystery Partner vs. The Violent Gentlemen (George Barnes/Lord Jonathan Boyd) Barnes and Boyd are in the ring laughing it up as Barnes says Dundee has no friends and they took out Ronnie Garvin who was the only person willing to tag up with him. "Superstar" Bill Dundee makes his way down to the ring, Boyd says, "You're as dumb as the rest of these stupid Yanks if you're going to face us by yourself!" Dundee says he made a phone call and found someone more than happy to be his partner to face them tonight! "Imagine what I could do to you" begins to blare through the arena as "Exotic" Adrian Street along with Ms. Linda comes skipping down the aisle and grabs the mic, "So….you boys call yourselves violent gentlemen now? Personally, I think you should stick to calling yourselves the 'Goatherders' or 'Sheeplovers' or whatever you used to call yourselves…..but either way, GENTLEMEN…..Bill Dundee and myself will bring the VIOLENCE!" With that he and Dundee slide in the ring and the fight is on!! GRUDGE MATCH "Superstar" Bill Dundee/"Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda defeated The Violent Gentlemen (George Barnes/Lord Jonathan Boyd) when Dundee pinned Boyd after a 'Bombs Away' splash off the top rope! After the match Barnes grabbed a glass coke bottle off of the time keeper's table and shattered it over the head of Dundee before he and Boyd left the ring Gulf Coast Heavyweight Championship "Mr. Money" Carl Fergie w/Frank Morrell & Slick vs. "Bullet" Bob Armstrong A pretty one sided match as Armstrong dominated Fergie everytime he got his hands on him, whenever Fergie wasn't busy running from him and getting in and out of the ring……finally Armstrong managed to get Fergie in a sleeper hold, Morrell jumped up on the apron causing the referee to go over and try to get him back down on the floor…..while the referee was distracted with Slick joining in with Morrell, Bad News Allen ran down and slid into the ring behind Armstrong and nailed him with a 'Ghetto Blaster' and then rolled Fergie on top of him…..Morrell and Slick quickly jump down off the apron…and referee Mac McMurray turned around and saw the cover and quickly counted 1-2-3!! Fergie retains the title! INTERMISSION: Santa Claus who had been wandering around in the crowd got in the ring and took pictures with fans SEMI-MAIN EVENT Twin States Tag Team Championship Brad Armstrong/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley defeated Tommy/Johnny Rich when Cooley pinned Johnny Rich with a small package to retain the titles. After the match, Tommy Rich grabbed the microphone in the ring as Armstrong/Cooley were leaving. Tommy: "Hey guys….hold up a minute. You know what Wendell Cooley, my cousin Johnny still had some hard feelins about what happened between you two in Memphis a few months ago, and between that and us wantin' to get our hands on some gold, we jumped you guys at RassleStorm, and we're both big enough men to admit we shouldn't have done that. We're also big enough men to admit that you guys were the better team tonight and we're willing to put this all behind us and move on. So if you guys would please allow us to show you the proper respect and shake your hands before we head back to the USWA and try to win us some titles….the right way. Tell 'em Johnny." (Armstrong and Cooley look very skeptical) Johnny: "Guys, Tommy is right. Sure we could act like jerks and make excuses but these fans saw it….you beat us fair and square. You guys are the better team…..we never should have attacked you at WrestleStorm and we really would like to shake your hand, bury the hatchet and head back to the USWA and get out of your hair." (Armstrong and Cooley look to the crowd who give a mixed reaction…after a few moments of contemplation they enter the ring…..Tommy extends a hand to Cooley who shakes his hand, Johnny shakes hands with Armstrong, now they switch sides, Tommy shakes Armstrong's hand…..Johnny extends his hand to Cooley, Cooley hesitates for a moment……Johnny Rich makes a "cross my heart" motion and extends his hand again, Cooley finally accepts it and they shake hands and then hug. Tommy and Johnny then raise the hands of Armstrong and Cooley as the fans cheer loudly……Armstrong/Cooley turn to leave when suddenly……The Richs BLAST them from behind….they take the championship belts once again and attack the champions with them, busting Brad Armstrong's head wide open…..they drag Cooley over to the ring post and ram him crotch first into the ring post, Scott Armstrong, Chicky Starr, Brickhouse Brown, and Norvell Austin all come running down to make the save as Johnny and Tommy Rich grab the championship belts and leave with them! MAIN EVENT Twin States Heavyweight Championship (Johnny V and the Platinum Club barred from the building) Mr. Olympia vs. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel As soon as Olympia stepped between the ropes, Landel attacked him and the fight was on! The match was an all out brawl for the first few minutes until Landel realized it wasn't in his favor and managed to slow things down. They wrestled for around 20 minutes until Landel went to apply a figure four to Olympia who kicked him off inadvertently knocking Landel into referee Larry Brock taking him out for a moment….as Olympia got back up, Landel was pulling himself by the ropes ….when suddenly Santa Claus appeared again at ringside and got up into the ring……he pulled his hat off and sprayed it with some sort of substance and placed it over Olympia's face…..Olympia went out quickly, Santa then tossed Landel on top of Olympia then jumped out of the ring….the referee crawled over and slowly counted 1---2---3! Buddy Landel is the new Twin States Heavyweight Champion…thanks to….Santa Claus??? As the referee called for the bell…..Santa ran up the aisle as fans yelled, "EMBRY!! IT'S EMBRY!!" Landel celebrates alone with the title as Olympia has not moved a muscle in the ring since "Santa" placed his ether soaked hat over his face, with Olympia out cold….Landel does the unthinkable and removes his mask exposing who most folks already knew, as Jerry Stubbs.

  22. Awesome! Two big "EVE" specials to look forward to coming up! Count me in as being excited to see King Curtis show up here.....I came very close to picking him up to manage Kamala but I had too many managers already so I didn't do it. He and TNT will make a lot of trouble for Carlos Colon and I'm sure countless others in the USWA. The original Technicians back together.....I like it! An unleashed/unchained Rip Morgan is going to spell trouble for everyone in the USWA....lord forbid he fall under the spell of King Curtis..... Basserab/Doring should make for a formidable tag team....if some sort of tag tournament was to suddenly develop...this would be a team to watch! Greg Gagne is the last man standing in the Elite....and he has quickly rebounded and found a tag team partner in Savoldi, I like the play on the High Flyers name....this team may have legs. The Devil's Duo with Goldie Rogers may just be the ones to shut down all the momentum that the Bruise Brother have going right now, should be a great match Carlos had a rough night with TNT but it looks like he's just getting started because the "MONSTER" is coming....this can't be good news for Carlos or any of the babyfaces in the USWA! Another great show, and the cards are looking good so far for the two big "EVE" specials coming up!
  23. Great way to start the show with Gaylord getting the win over Sharpe after the nice angle they've had going recently WOW, the Bunkhouse Brawl really delivered...Adrian Adonis and Ron Bass were great additions to this feud but with everything that's gone on with Bart/Brooks/Miller and later Irwin, the expectations were high for this one and it was exactly the wild brawl it needed to be! As mentioned I like that it came down to Bart pinning Brooks in the end. loved the use of the horseshoe! The great thing is, this could be seen as a blow off, or I feel it has plenty more mileage if the story continues with any combination of these guys.....I hope to at least see more of Bart/Irwin/Bass as a team moving forward. The TV title could have went either way and I wouldn't have been disappointed but I like Brian Adias as TV champion, especially as the first one. He's very versatile which I think is needed for that spot. I love Terry Funk getting the heat by shitting on Fort Worth and putting over Amarillo and justifying the placement of the World title match on the card.....which gives him even more heat when he turns up later after making a fuss about getting the hell outta there. I could hear Funk saying every bit of it and could just imagine who pissed the fans would be about his insults towards Sunshine especially! Just classic Funk here that insures that he'll be a draw every time he comes to Texas All Star, champion or not! The match was exactly what World Championship matches were about in the territory days, getting over the local guy and making the fans believe "he could've had it".....leaving the arena thinking, "He'll get it next time, we HAVE to come back!" Great recap by Marc Lowrance afterwards to make sure the viewers got each of the main points of the story. Jones vs. Spoiler was a well written match that got both guys over, it was true to the feud they've had while causing the fans to gain respect for the Spoiler...but allowing Jones to leave Texas with his head held high in the final match of his career (unless someone picks him up out of retirement and continues to use him anyway) Afterwards Akbar/Kendo kick off a new feud with the Spoiler that should be fun to watch in '86 because come on Spoiler, did you really think you could just FIRE Akbar.....in Texas no less....with no consequences?!?! I loved the way this Four Corners Match came together and was very curious how it would play out....The Highwaymen get some revenge on the Youngbloods by putting them out of the match.....I loved the whole sequence that led to the elimination of the Highwaymen here....and I certainly didn't see it coming! I'll be curious to see what comes of this in particular! After the skirmish, Tatum/Victory manage to eliminate the Glamour Girls and become the tag team champions!! The outcome I had hoped for happened, I can't wait to see these two gloat once Texas All-Star returns! Holy shit!! After a very well built angle, Estrada vs. Cocoa Samoa was freaking EPIC....what a match/story here....and I wasn't expecting the interference from Sierra/Santana but I love it! What a trio these guys will be! Cocoa is gone but obviously the fans would be happy to see him return at some point after his recent performances here. Well after a wild night hard hitting night, Scott Casey and Dory Jr had a lot to follow but they pulled it off and then with all the excitement with Terry/Sunshine/Mantell I would say it was a great way to cap off the evening and leave everybody ready for a Gunslingers vs. Funks match after the New Year! Outstanding sir! After an amazing Wrestlestorm and the great card from top to bottom that was Season's Beatings......Twin States is REALLY going to have to bring it this weekend with Santa Slam...which I can already tell you the matches won't be anything close to what either of you guys have put out...I just don't have the time or the patience to write out the matches in the awesome detail that you guys do but hopefully I'll manage to not embarrass the USWA with the show this weekend.
  24. Twin States Wrestling Episode #23 Airing on: Saturday December 19, 1985 Taped on: Wednesday December 16, 1985 at Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, Alabama airing on stations throughout Alabama and Mississippi Host/Play by Play: Charlie Platt Co-Host/Color Commentator: Ronnie P. Gossett) Platt: "Hello wrestling fans and welcome to Twin States Wrestling, I'm your host Charlie Platt and with me as always, my co-host Mr. Ronnie P. Gossett." RPG: "You're lucky I'm here after the recent treatment of my good friend 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landel, but it's my understanding that after what happened last week, Mr. Olympia has demanded a match with Buddy next week at Santa Slam in Huntsville and the Twin States title will be on the line." Platt: "That's true, I think now is a good time to mention that next week we'll be pre-empted due to the Christmas holiday so there will be no Twin States television episode next week so get over to Huntsville's Von Braun Civic Center for Santa Slam next Saturday December 26th!' RPG: "That's right, you'll see a great card and then you'll see a brand new Twin States Champion crowned in Buddy Landel!" Platt: "Well, a couple of things you might not be aware of Ronnie…..the first being that Les Thatcher has banned both Buddy Landel and Mr. Olympia from television tonight to make sure we don't see a repeat of last week going into this title match….but perhaps even more important than that…..Johnny Valiant and the Platinum Club are barred from the building during the championship match!" RPG: "WHAT?? That's ridiculous! Johnny V is Buddy's manager and advisor….you can't ban him from ringside!" Platt: "I didn't ban him from ringside, Les Thatcher with the full support of the USWA's Jerry Jarrett barred him from ringside." RPG: "Oh…well I should have known that no good Jerry Jarrett had something to do with sticking it to Buddy Landel…..what a joke." Platt: "Don't go getting all worked up before we even get the show started today, Joe Pedicino will be joining us later in the show with the 'Event Center' giving us the full card for next week's 'Santa Slam' event, but right now….let's go to the ring and see the Nightmares in action as they get ready to challenge for the USWA tag team championships against the Karachi Vice on New Year's eve!" ====================== MATCH #1: The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) defeated the masked team of Rough & Ready when Davis pinned Ready with a legdrop off the top rope As the Nightmares were having their hands raised in victory, The Moondogs (Spot/Rex) hit the ring and attacked them from behind……The Moondogs put a brutal beating on the Nightmares and left them laid out in the ring, with Davis' head busted open from a hard shot with Rex's bone ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== (Before the match we see a quick backstage interview as Chicky Starr tells Joe Pedicino he's excited to be here in Twin States Wrestling and he's got his eye on that USWA Southern Jr Heavyweight title and he'll be watching tonight's main event very closely!) ----------------------------------- MATCH #2: Chicky Starr pinned Ned Navarro with a victory roll ====================== (Backstage: Joe Pedicino is joined by the Twin States Tag Team Champions Brad Armstrong & "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley) Pedicino: "Once again, congratulations on winning the titles at Wrestlestorm 2 in Memphis, but what on earth has caused Johnny and Tommy Rich to come after you guys the way they have, especially considering they don't even wrestle here." Cooley: "You know Joe, that's the million dollar question that Brad and myself have been trying to get an answer to. Granted, I had my issues with Johnny Rich during my time in the USWA, so perhaps it's still bad blood leftover from that….I've never had a cross word with Tommy and neither has Brad….but whatever the reason is…..we've got a problem now…a BIG one, so we've been on the phone with Jerry Jarrett and let it be known we want them in the ring next week at Santa Slam and he told us that they said if we want them in the ring, they demand a title shot….well boys, ask and ye shall receive!" Pedicino: "Guys, the match has been signed and while the Richs aren't here this week as far as we know, they did send in this tape with their comments." (VTR: Lance Russell is standing in front of a USWA backdrop with what appears to be a very happy Johnny and Tommy Rich) Russell: "Boy boy…..look at you two, you look like you're real proud of that stunt you pulled in Montgomery, Alabama last week attacking Brad Armstrong and Wendell Cooley during a title match." Johnny: "Stunt? What stunt? Those boys were shooting their mouth off at the beginning of that TV show saying how they wanted to get their hands on us…..well, we gave them the opportunity and once again Lance, they just couldn't handle us." (laughs as does Tommy) Russell: "Well, it's hard to handle folks who attack you after you've had a gruelling match." Tommy: "A gruelling match? How hard of a match can it be out there fighting Austrailian midgets? Johnny and Me could whip those guys in our sleep." Russell: "Why did you guys attack Armstrong and Cooley? What's your reasoning?" Johnny: "You must have a real short memory Lance Russell. Do you not remember all the problems that I had with Wendell Cooley? Do you not remember that it was ME that ran him OUT of the USWA? Who does he think he is just showing back up here after I ran him out of the territory? He has no business showing his face around here!" Tommy: "That's right! So first we showed him and his damn Armstrong buddy they aren't welcome here in the USWA, and then we decided to give them a dose of their own medicine by showing up uninvited in that poor excuse for a promotion, Twin States Rasslin!" Russell: "Come on now, Tommy…..Twin States is a great promotion that is now part of the USWA and we aren't going to have you out here knocking those guys." Tommy: "Now, now…take it easy Lance……we're going to make that promotion better because we're going back down there next weekend to Huntsville and we're going to beat those two and take their tag team titles….and we may just run them out of Twin States just like Johnny ran Cooley out of the USWA." (END VTR) Pedicino: "Strong words from the Rich cousins." Armstrong: "Oh yeah….they're real strong with words…..they're real good at running their mouth but let's see what happens when they have to face us in the ring face to face and not jumping us from behind after we've already wrestled." Cooley: "That's exactly right…..laugh it up boys….and talk that talk. You can knock us, you can knock this promotion while your standing up in Tennessee talking to the great Lance Russell, but let's just see you back up all that tough talk when you come down here to our backyard and meet us face to face! Next week, the talking is done….take the belts if you think you can but I can promise you this….ain't nobody running us out of Twin States! Least of all….you two punks!" ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #3: Larry Hamilton w/Norvell Austin pinned "Golden Boy" Chic Donovan w/Johnny V & Steve Regal with a backslide After the win, Hamilton and Austin celebrated in the aisle with the fans, meanwhile in the ring Johnny V and Steve Regal took a exception to Donovan losing the match and got in his face about it…..things started to get very heated as Johnny V shoved Donovan who shoved him back knocking him on his butt, Regal then shoved Donovan and as Donovan got in Regal's face, Eric Embry came running down to the ring and got between them and seemingly managed to be the voice of reason, and calmed everyone down and gave each one a hug before they all left the ring together. ====================== Platt: "Looks like things aren't so great with the Platinum Club…" RPG: "Did you not just see what happened, sure Donovan dropped the ball for the team but Eric Embry the great peacemaker he is just came out and fixed everything….so clearly there are no more problems after Embry got everyone back on the same page." Platt: "That remains to be seen…..but where there are a lot of problems is between Bill Dundee and his former partner George Barnes and his new partner Lord Jonathan Boyd." RPG: "Now THAT is true. My understanding is that there was a match signed this week for Bill Dundee and Ronnie Garvin to face the new Violent Gentlemen at Santa Slam but that clutz Garvin had some sort of accident and now he can't wrestle." Platt: "Oh..an accident? That's what you heard. It was no accident, at one of the live events this week, Ronnie Garvin was attacked in the parking lot by Barnes and Boyd and apparently they worked over Garvin's knee with a crowbar and he's currently unable to walk…..however I was just informed by Les Thatcher during the last match that Bill Dundee will have a special mystery partner at Santa Slam and that match WILL happen!" RPG: "Mystery partner? That's not fair, he should have to reveal who his partner will be!" Platt: "Why, so they can attack him too??" RPG: "Yes…..I mean no….." Platt: "Exactly, let's take another quick commercial break and we'll be back with Killer Khan in action." ====================== COMMERCIAL BREAK ====================== MATCH #4: Killer Khan w/Sir Oliver Humperdink pinned Sammy Hall after a kneedrop from the 2nd rope After the match, Humperdink takes the mic and says that next week Killer Khan will end Jerry Brisco's career just like he did Blackjack Mulligan's……he says he doesn't care what Mulligan or anyone else says….Mulligan's career is over and they want their bounty paid….and paid soon!! ====================== (VTR: A highlight video of Hercules Ayala in action plays announcing he will be coming soon to Twin States) ====================== MATCH #5: Jerry Brisco defeated Bubba Monroe by submission with the figure four leglock ====================== (Camera cuts to the dressing room where Frank Morrell is pouring Carl Fergie a glass of champagne) Morrell: "Another bottle of bubbly from your friend Gerry Morrow, boss." Fergie: "Ah yes, Gerrald sent me this to celebrate running that BJ Patterson out of the USWA. He's the Billionaires Champion now you know." (There's a knock at the door, Morrell goes over and answers the door and in strolls the Slickster followed by Bad News Allen) Slick: "What's happenin' fellas?" Fergie: "Just enjoying some fine champagne, would you care for some?" (Bad News grabs the bottle and takes a big swig and hands it back to Frank) Slick: "No thanks, I never drank when I'm doing business…so do you have the cash we discussed last week?" (Fergie signals Frank, who pops open a briefcase full of cash that Bad News quickly snatches away from Morrell then turns and leaves) Fergie: "Hey, where's he going with the money?" Slick: "He's going to count it….he'll be back if it's short….otherwise just know that you'll walk out of Huntsville still the Gulf Coast champion. See you at Santa Slam." ====================== MATCH #6: 'Mr. Pro' Kelly Kiniski pinned Frankie Lancaster with a bridging German suplex Post match: 'Mr. Pro' says he's the last of a dying breed, an actual WRESTLER, not a brawler…not a puncher…not a kicker…and certainly not a cheater….but a PRO WRESTLER and he's issuing an open challenge for Santa Slam for anyone who is willing to WRESTLE him. ====================== Event Center w/Joe Pedicino who runs down the matches signed for next Saturday night at Santa Slam! Armstrong blasted Donovan with a superkick knocking him out of the ring……Armstrong covered Embry as the referee turned back around and counted 1-2-3!! Scott Armstrong has regained the title!! Armstrong grabs the belt and takes off. Regal hits the ring as Donovan struggles to slide back in…Embry pulls himself up by the ropes. Johnny V and Regal are once again berating Donovan….and once again Embry comes over and calms everyone down… Platt: "It looked like the Platinum Club was on the verge of having a major breakdown until Embry who just lost his title came over and settled things down…..for the second time tonight" RPG: "Everything is just fine with the Platinum Club, as long as this loser Chic Donovan doesn't drop the ball at Santa Slam…..but if Eric can forgive him, no reason the others can't as well." Platt: "Well that remains to be seen, but remember fans….we will be pre-empted next week due to the holidays but make sure you make your way to Huntsville to the Von Braun Civic Center for the Twin States event of the year, Santa Slam!" © 1985 Twin States Wrestling/Jarrett Promotions
