Working on catching up with everyone's shows! Super excited to see Tommy Rich is still hated heel in the game and feuding with the King! The WarGames is going to be wild! Can't wait!

The story I've always heard was....he trained briefly in the early 80's, had one match and got hurt...left the business as quickly as he got in....then rejoined as strictly a manager in '88.....then a few years later he got retrained and started actually wrestling after being told he was "too big to be a manager" towards the end of his time managing the Diamond Studd...which was very late '91, early '92.

(The following interview aired on WTVY 4 in Dothan and will be shown on stations across Alabama and Mississippi where Twin States Wrestling will be airing beginning on Saturday August 27th) (Charlie Platt is seen sitting at the desk of the Twin States Wrestling set at the WTVY Channel 4 studios in Dothan, Alabama alongside the "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller) Platt: "Hello ladies and gentlemen, it's my pleasure to once again join you from the WTVY Channel 4 studios here in Dothan, Alabama on a familiar set for many of you, of course I'm talking about the Twin States Wrestling set and I'm very pleased to be joined here by the man who makes it all possible, the one and only Ron Fuller. Ron, I'm excited to join you here today as you have a big announcement for everybody." Fuller: "Well thank you, Charlie and I do have a big announcement to make here today. I've been asked nearly everyday since it went away, when will wrestling return to the Twin States….the pro wrestling we remember and love. The short answer to that question is, Saturday August 27th here on this station and stations across Alabama and Mississippi, but I feel everyone deserves a little more explanation than that. On two different occasions, I've helped launch 'Twin States Wrestling' out of this studio with the intention of bringing professional wrestling to all the great fans in Alabama and Mississippi. Both times, we eventually as the old saying goes here in the South….'got a little too big for our britches' if you will. We grew to the point of feeling like we needed to expand and both times, that expansion and moving away from where we started led to the downfall of the promotion. So, with that in mind…we're going back to our roots, a weekly studio wrestling show here in this studio in Dothan, Alabama and eventually we'll be running weekly shows in Birmingham and spot shows across both Alabama and Mississippi. I promise you Charlie and the fans, that this time around we will stick to what we know and stick to what works! We're not venturing out of the Twin States and we're not venturing out of this studio." Platt: "Ron, I can't tell you how great that is to hear. Who all can we expect to see in action here in Twin States Wrestling?" Fuller: "Well…now let's not go letting all the cats out of the bag here today, Charlie. (laughing) There's a lot of irons in the fire right now and there's a lot of guys finishing up in their current territories so I really can't go into a lot of specifics here today but I can promise you that you're going to see some new faces along with some of everyone's old favorites as well." Platt: "Ok, Ron….ok. I do understand that Les Thatcher is back with us as the matchmaker and I'm sorry but I have to ask, will I be subjected to one Ronnie P. Gossett this time around?" Fuller: "All I can say for right now is that we did reach out to Mr. Gossett but he's currently tied up out in California, and I guess he's being held hostage as he's not returning phone calls. However, I'll tell you this Charlie. While, I'm not going to say that I'm retired from the ring…..I do think I would be happier on the sidelines, so I'm going to be joining you as the co-host of Twin States Wrestling." Platt: "Well, that's certainly something I'm looking forward to and we also look forward to everyone joining us right here next week on August 27th for the relaunch of Twin States Wrestling!"

You can still write them off. It's fine. I'll wait til you're done. Actually I'm sure I could work around you're schedule in the meantime.

Sorry, I meant to post the Madril for Furnas trade before I left. Yes, the Goliath on my roster was the one who teamed with Big Bubba/Ottman in Memphis who would years later go on to become Moondog Splat.

Wow, Last Stand was a helluva way to close out '86 and officially usher in the UWF! The Rock & Roll Express has arrived! Jake the Snake puts down Rocky Johnson and Rocky is outta here. Holy crap, I didn't expect to see Hayes turn on Garvin! Nicely done! Brody is back and he's pissed!! Look out Cowboy! Nothing I like better than a disingenuous Eddie Gilbert promo! Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Nasty Girls retain, what a great team they are! 1987 is going to be the breakout year for Medusa, no question about it. Wow, I didn't think Combs would pull it off but thanks to Moretti, here we are....I hope it's worth it when Richter gets her back in the ring!

Wow! Christmas Chaos lived up to it's name! What a show! I agree with the others, Flair winning the battle royal is perfect as there can be tension and a story within the Horsemen for as long as you want to draw it out. As predicted Savage/Nikita was a show stealer and you count Savage as another serious threat to Tully's World title. Tully retains over Harley while beating a champion the stature of Race cements Tully as a "real deal" NWA World Champion! Great work!

New Year's Eve is going to be a must see card! Wow! Just like that after that amazing Best of Seven series, the Fabs and the Rock & Roll Express are gone from the AWA! Rich vs. Lawler has been great so far! Can't wait to see the Unsanctioned Loser Leaves Town match!! You just know it's going to be wild! Steamboat vs. Hennig is one of those amazing matches that the game is giving to us that we didn't see IRL in this era....it's going to off the charts I'm sure!

The match started out as a wild melee but the referee finally settled it down to a normal tag match. Considering the four men involved it was a very hard hitting match, that went back and forth quite a bit……until Teijho pulled Garvin off the ring apron to the floor which distracted Rhodes momentarily which allowed Brody to connect with a big boot to the face followed by the "Sudanese Meat Cleaver" elbow drop from Abby who then managed to cover Rhodes for the pin! The crowd was livid as the Starr Corporation strutted away from the ring in victory!

Another great TV episode with the Bob Backlund and Lanny Poffo promos being the highlights for me. "Hercules, if that's even your real name??" is just the Best/Most Bob Backlund line EVER!! The parking lot hit on Sivi Afi was a great way to put more heat on the Cartel while setting the stage for "little cousin" to come in to help seek revenge. Great exchange between the Spoiler and Big Not Yet Evil, in these promos you've managed to interject way more personality into both of these guys than I ever could have...great job! Let's get right on to the War Memorial! Akbar seems to be over Sabu already, but maybe he's just temporarily frustrated. Texas RedDeadman gets the win here in another extremely well done angle that develops Red and gets over the heart punch. Kokina has arrived! Looking forward to watching you build and develop him as your doing with Taker rather than automatically making him 1993 500lb Yokozuna as most folks have wanted to do since he debuted at 300lbs. Poor Steve Keirn has to leave town after a less than "fabulous" run in Florida but I can't wait to hear Tatum gloat over this one!! Good/Plenty retain the titles and I'm looking forward to hearing Chic/Rip's version of tonight's events! I've enjoyed this fued between Hercules/Backlund and the friction between Herc and Akbar has put an interesting twist on things. Luscious makes a statement by sending Backlund outta Florida with something to remember him by....I personally hope we get see Backlund back here someday, as you do such an amazing job capturing "crazy Bob Backlund"! What an epic finale to one of the greatest feuds in the game! The Glamour Boys become Glamour Men as they finally put an end to the Highwaymen! What a nice respectful send-off for Duncum! Great show, enjoy your Christmas break!

Christmas Chaos is going to be huge! When you can land George Strait on Christmas, you must be a big deal! The Andersons vs. The Road Warriors is tough one to call Harley vs. Tully is going to make or break Blanchard here...can't wait! I really think Savage vs. Nikita may steal the show, I could really see Savage going all out to make this match stand out with Koloff looking like a monster and Macho come after him with reckless abandon!
-
Wendi as a psychopath is so much fun! What a main event! Medusa puts down Singh in convincing fashion! Can't wait for the inevitable meeting between Medusa and Richter!
-
Rich is here and already deep inside the King's head....obviously it's not wise for Lawler to face Rich with such high stakes while not physically cleared to wrestle but it's at the Mid South Coliseum so hopefully he can pull it off. I love the supremely arrogant Curt Hennig and why shouldn't he be after defeating Bockwinkel, can't to see him challenge Steamboat. Gagne has a death grip on that TV title! By any means necessary! Great card set for New Year's Eve so far! The Japanese team overcome the Rock & Roll Express this time but they'll be back I'm sure.

Continental Championship Wrestling Presents TAG TEAM TURMOIL '86 Mississippi Fairgrounds Coliseum Jackson, Mississippi Monday December 13, 1986 Bell Time- 7:30pm The Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong/Tracy Smothers) defeated The Desperados (Bill Irwin/Killer Brooks) w/Scott Irwin when Scott Irwin tried to interfere and hit Armstrong with a chair but he hit Brooks by mistake allowing Armstrong to get the pin! After the match Bill Irwin shocked the crowd when he joined Brooks in attacking his brother Scott and leaving him laying in the ring to be carried out on stretcher EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH The Grappler/Mighty Goliath/Billy Joe Travis/The Cobra vs. The Nightmares/Doug Furnas/Scorpio w/Downtown Bruno Order of elimination: Scorpio pinned The Cobra……before leaving the ring Cobra gave Scorpio a low blow allowing Goliath to come in capitalize leading to…… Mighty Goliath pinned Scorpio following a "big splash" Danny Davis pinned the Grappler with a sunset flip off the top rope Billy Joe Travis pinned Ken Wayne with his feet on the ropes Mighty Goliath pinned Danny Davis following a "big splash" Doug Furnas pinned Billy Joe Travis following a powerslam Mighty Goliath pinned Doug Furnas after Travis clipped his knee immediately after getting pinned which allowed Goliath to get the splash on Furnas and get the pin TAG TEAM STRAP MATCH Johnny/Davey Rich defeated Brett/Buzz Sawyer when Johnny tied up Brett's legs with the strap and then rolled him up for the pin. Buzz was livid after the match and vowed revenge on "those wretched Richs" GRUDGE TAG TEAM MATCH Corporal Kirchner/"Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda defeated Killer Khan/"The Great" Al Madril by DQ when Khan spewed the "poison mist" in the eyes of Kirchner EIGHT MAN TAG TEAM ELIMINATION MATCH The Bullet/Scott Armstrong/The New Breed vs. Adrian Adonis/Eric Embry/Starr Power w/Sherri Martel Order of elimination: Chris Champion pinned Mark Starr with a small package Lance Starr pinned Chris Champion after Sherri tripped Champion Adrian Adonis pinned Sean Royal with a roll up and a handful of tights The Bullet pinned Lance Starr with a backslide Scott Armstrong pinned Eric Embry following a 'superkick' Adrian Adonis eliminated Scott Armstrong with a 'sleeper' The Bullet and Adrian Adonis fought to a double count out causing the match to be a declared a "NO CONTEST" with everyone eliminated SEMI-MAIN EVENT Continental Tag Team Title-Rematch Junkyard Dog/Mr. Olympia defeated Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden w/Slick by count out when Fuller/Golden simply walked out once they got in trouble in order to save their titles. Les Thatcher came out and announced that since the Stable don’t seem to want to fight like men based on the interference in their first title match and now this "stunt", At Christmas Clash, Fuller and Golden will have to defend the tag team titles against Mr. Olympia and JYD inside a 'Steel Cage'! MAIN EVENT WINNER'S CHOICE TAG TEAM CHALLENGE MATCH "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol/"Wildcat" Wendell Cooley defeated "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel/Bad News Allen w/ Slick when Idol once again made Landel submit to the 'Las Vegas Leglock' while Bad News was brawling with Cooley in the aisle. Landel was pissed afterwards and was giving Slick grief until Bad News showed back up and Landel quickly calmed back down.

CCW sends Terry Taylor to AWA for Ronnie Garvin

Solid TV heading towards Christmas Chaos that looks to have potential to be a great show. I like what your doing with Mark Fleming, a ton of potential there! Good promo from Tully. My main takeaway is Baby Doll is gone and as mentioned Flair was uncharacteristically quiet here. Honestly since the fans always wanted to cheer Flair in this era and seemed to genuinely hate Tully, there's a lot of fresh stories to tell with Tully as the Champ and Flair chasing him...if things were to fall that way. Macho vs. Nikita is a match we never got IRL that I'm super excited about! Christmas is going to be a huge day here in the game! Can't wait!
-
"Wildfire" has arrived and has already managed to gain the ire of everyone....challenging Lawler to a Loser Leaves Town is a bold move but if he pulls it off, he's a made man! A new Bruise Brother....my interest is piqued for sure! Blackjack is gonna form a posse to go after Syndicate, this should be fun to watch unfold! Hennig beats Bockwinkel and now he will get the shot at Steamboat, even in '86/'87, Hennig vs. Steamboat is going to be a dream match and technical classic! Things are going to continue to be exciting in the AWA as we head into 1987!
-
Another great episode here as you seem to be finding your groove here in Florida as you are really dialed in on the promos. This might be my favorite promo from Tatum yet as he really called Keirn out on last week's promo and you can honestly see why Keirn would agree they can't co-exist in Florida, somebody has to go! Another homerun promo from the Blondes as they are quickly becoming the "must see" tag team of the entire game! The Caribbean Connection will be another fun team that should be a great fit here in Florida. I had my doubts at first but Steve Regal just works here as a babyface. The Highwaymen/Glamour Boys wars will certainly go down as one of the great original feuds that was created entirely here in the game and I'm on he edge of my seat waiting to see who wins this cage match! Backlund vs. Hercules is another one that's too close to call....what a great card coming up on 12/19! How could anyone not like Good & Plenty. The "tootsie roll"....such good shit, pal!! Fun stuff as always! I sincerely hope to see a "If Gordon doesn't cut a rug, we RIOT!" sign in the crowd soon!
