Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. XC – 17th of August 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Velvet McIntyre versus Debbie Combs for the NWA United States Women’s Championship We open hot this week, with Babyface Nellie facing off against Penny Mitchell. The two are relatively evenly matched and the result is a brutal back-and-forth that reduces both women to absolute wrecks by the end, covered in sweat and nursing their bruises. There is little opportunity for cheating, given the pace of the match, so we get a clean contest for the most part. The finish comes when Penny Mitchell misses a spear attempt, crashing into the turnbuckle post, having nowhere near the strength necessary, after that, to kick out of a solid pin. Babyface Nellie defeats Penny Mitchell in 14:03 by pinfall with a small package to retain the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the main event then plays us through to the first round of interviews. Penny Mitchell angrily blames her loss on the absence of Candi Devine. Babyface Nellie talks up her opponent and declares herself to be “on a roll”. A commercial break then brings us our first season match, with Peggy Lee Leather facing Judy Martin. The narrative here is obvious from the start. Peggy Lee Leather has the technical edge, and plays the face, but Judy Martin has the Glamour Girls at ringside to constantly interfere. Peggy Lee Leather holds her own for as long as she can but, eventually, she is worn down. The finish comes after she is tripped by Leilani Kai and stumbles into a waiting Judy Martin. Judy Martin defeats Peggy Lee Leather in 12:33 by pinfall after a fireman’s carry powerslam in a Season Match A promotional video then plays, covering the Monsters, before we get to the interviews. Peggy Lee Leather is outraged and takes her frustration out on the interviewer with a vitriolic rant and some choice words that have to be censored. The Glamour Girls cackle about the match but Leilani Kai concludes the interview by threatening Babyface Nellie, telling her to watch her back. Another commercial break then takes us to our next match, with KC Houston taking on Winona Little Heart. Whilst the early goings are fairly competitive, this contest eventually morphs into a showcase for Winona Little Heart as she takes firm control. KC Houston very occasionally manages to regain control of the match but never holds on for more than a handful of moves. Winona Little Heart defeats KC Houston in 10:50 by pinfall with a victory roll in a Season Match We get a sponsor-filled promotional package after that, before moving on to the interviews. KC Houston delivers an impassioned rant but largely fails to convincingly explain her loss. The Giant Slayers gush over and hug Winona Little Heart and they use the interview time to talk about their upcoming rematch with the Monsters, which they now know will come with a “no disqualification” stipulation. Another commercial break then brings us through to our penultimate match, a season match pitting Despina Montagas against Rhonda Singh. Once again, the narrative in this one is very clear. The Glamour Girls are a constant source of irritation for Rhonda Singh and her partner at ringside Reggie Bennett. However, unlike earlier in the night, the Glamour Girls are unable to turn their behaviour into a winning strategy. As the proceedings devolve into a brawl, Rhonda Singh demolishes the Glamour Girls one by one. In the end, Despina Montagas finds herself vulnerable and alone, unable to stop her rampaging opponent. Rhonda Singh defeats Despina Montagas in 12:16 by pinfall after a splash in a Season Match One last video package plays, this one hyping up the upcoming cage match between Medusa Miceli and Lisa Moretti, and then we move to the interviews. The Glamour Girls moan and complain, all of them nursing some kind of hurt until they are interrupted and chased off by the Monsters who promise to break the Giant Slayers into a million pieces when they face them next. A commercial break then brings us to our main event. After elaborate entrances befitting the status of the new title they’ll be fighting for, Velvet McIntyre and Debbie Combs shake hands and settle into a clean and comfortable rhythm. This technical back-and-forth sees them through the commercial break and past the twenty minute mark when, as their bodies begin to tire, they each go for riskier moves. In the end it is the world champion, Medusa Miceli, who turns the tide. Whilst she doesn’t get directly involved, her well-timed words of encouragement and yelled advice ensure that the champ consistently avoids being caught by any big moves from the challenger. Velvet McIntyre defeats Debbie Combs in 27:11 by pinfall after a swinging hurricanrana to retain the NWA United States Women’s Championship After hugging a wary but ultimately accepting Debbie Combs, a jubilant Velvet McIntyre then rushes over to her partner who beams with pride and raises her arm up high. * P.S. Hey everyone, things have been really hectic again on my end! It should settle down shortly, though!

Nice bit of chaos to kick off the show! Great win in a big man contest for Barry Windham! Cool little bit of tension there between Jim Neidhart and Gary Young. Love everything that's happening here with the Harts! Akira Maeda versus Dean Malenko is such a neat match to put on! Intriguing to see Gary Hart fail to support Badd Company! Amazing six-man main event! Loved the finish!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXIX – 10th of August 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Penny Mitchell versus Medusa Miceli in a Season Match We start this week’s programme with a brief rundown of the new title schedule before heading to our traditional television title opener, as Leilani Kai is set to defend her title against Babyface Nellie. From the very beginning, the narrative of this one is clear. Whereas Babyface Nellie possesses a clear technical advantage, Leilani Kai has stacked the odds in her favour with her interfering stablemates at ringside and her devilish cheating tactics. Things seem to be going the champions way until she takes her tactics a little too far and tries choking her opponent on the ropes. Not only does the referee give Babyface Nellie a chance to recover, the affair sends her into a rage and she proceeds to beat the champ with merciless vigour. With a blazing fire lit under her, the challenger demolishes her opponent and sends the annoyances on the ring apron sprawling to the floor one by one before ending the match with her signature move. Babyface Nellie defeats Leilani Kai in 14:03 by pinfall after a running knee drop to win the WWW Television Championship A hype package for the end of the month’s proposed cage match between Medusa Miceli and Lisa Moretti then plays before we head to the interviews. The Glamour Girls are outraged and Leilani Kai makes a big deal of showing off the fat lip she got from “that wild animal”. Babyface Nellie, for her part, relishes her win makes the same promise her opponent made a week ago, that she’ll use title to springboard herself to the world title. Our first commercial break then brings us to a heel contest, with Candi Devine taking on Princess Delta Dawn. The ensuing fight is a chaotic mess of dirty tactics and interference, with Penny Mitchell and Malia Hosaka both at ringside. Before the finish, the referee threatens to throw the whole thing out on numerous occasions. In the end, Penny Mitchell manages to beat Malia Hosaka down and make herself the decision-maker when she trips the big woman up. Candi Devine defeats Princess Delta Dawn in 12:11 by submission with a rear chinlock in a Season Match A promotional music video then plays, playing up the recent dominance of the Monsters, before we head to what should be the interviews. Instead, an enraged Princess Delta Dawn and her partner hunt down Candi Devine and Penny Mitchell. The latter flees, to preserve her health heading into the main event, and the former is subsequently beaten savagely until staff can swarm into break it up. Another commercial break then gets us to our next match, as Misty Blue Simmes takes on Reggie Bennett. The match plays out fairly traditionally, with staff crowding around ringside to prevent Rhonda Singh from doing anything illegal – much to her annoyance. In the end, brain beats brawn when the Monster has her attempt at a clothesline turned into a crucifix pin. Misty Blue Simmes defeats Reggie Bennett in 13:39 by pinfall with a crucifix in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then transitions us to the interviews. The Monsters rant and rave, in their usual style, and issue an unending torrent of threats. Misty Blue Simmes, by comparison, is an island of tranquillity and says she believes that the Monsters’ days as a dominant tag team are numbered. Another commercial break then takes us through to our fourth match, as Lady Apache takes on Wendi Richter. Rather than the rout that the commentators expect, we actually get a fairly competitive match here, as Lady Apache is given plenty of time to shine and Wendi Richter is shown to let her overconfidence get the better of her. In the end, however, Lady Apache just takes one too many chances and meets her doom as her attempt at hitting a hurricanrana from the top rope is transformed in brutal fashion. Wendi Richter defeats Lady Apache in 11:09 by pinfall after a powerbomb in a Season Match When then get an advertisement for the merchandise catalogue before heading into the interviews. Lady Apache is joined by her partner and she explains that she’s actually proud of her performance against such a formidable opponent. Wendi Richter belittles her opponent and becomes offended by the interviewer’s line of questioning, abruptly ending the interview with an inaudible but apparently shocking utterance. After another commercial break, we get to see Selina Majors and Liz Chase square off. The Giant Slayers and Glamour Girls are all out in full force which means we get a massive brawl towards the end of the match. Inside the ring, the action is an intense back-and-forth as Selina Majors is shown to have improved her technical abilities and Liz Chase is exposed as relying far too heavily on outside interference. The finish comes somewhat out of the blue and the two factions continuing fighting through the bell. Selina Majors defeats Liz Chase in 09:44 by pinfall after a jawbreaker in a Season Match Instead of interviews, the chaotic brawl outlasts another hype package for the main event and takes us into the commercial break before staff can bring it to an end. Our main event kicks off as soon as we return, with Penny Mitchell fighting like a woman possessed, desperate to get a win over the world champion. Though the match is a non-title affair and Medusa Miceli already has her next opponent locked in, there are still stakes beyond pride as the match is a part of the season. With Velvet McIntyre in her corner and Candi Devine battered and bruised from her early encounters, there is no question of outside interference. Penny Mitchell cheats here and there but these tactics regularly backfire when applied to Medusa Miceli, who is all too familiar with them. In the end, it has to come down to which woman is the superior wrestler and on that score there really is no contest. Medusa Miceli defeats Penny Mitchell in 15:04 by pinfall after a German suplex in a Season Match and the NWA World Women’s Championship does not change hands We end, once again, on a shot of Medusa Miceli and Velvet McIntyre with their arms around one another’s shoulders.

This roster is stacked with talent! I really like the idea of British Steel putting themselves in the title picture with this performance! Bret Hart versus Bob Backlund is such a great match, especially running it in 1987! Nick Bockwinkel has a lot of things going for him but he can't handle a two-on-one scenario against these two beasts!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXVIII – 3rd of August 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Velvet McIntyre versus Linda Dallas for the NWA United States Women’s Championship This week we open with a conference panel, as the commentators bring in Pat Patterson to briefly talk about the state of the company and tease more news about a decision that has been made about the championship schedule. We then move onto a six woman match for the trios title, with Wendi Richter reforming an uneasy alliance with the Monsters to challenge the champions. Before the commercial break, we get a traditional back-and-forth with Misty Blue Simmes, Heidi Lee Morgan and Babyface Nellie giving as good as they get. After the break, however, the match takes on a nastier tone, as the heels begin to target Heidi Lee Morgan regardless of whether she’s her team’s legal woman. This creates, in effect, a three on two scenario heading into the finish. Wendi Richter & Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett defeat Misty Blue Simmes & Heidi Lee Morgan & Babyface Nellie in 32:04 when Wendi Richter pins Babyface Nellie after a powerbomb to win the WWW Trios Championship After a brief hype package for the main event, we get to the interviews. The former champs angrily demand a rematch on their terms, calling for Texas Tornado rules. Wendi Richter dominates her team’s interview to rant and rave about Medusa Miceli, blaming her unfair work schedule for her loss to the world champion last week. Another commercial break then brings us to segment with Pat Patterson and Medusa Miceli. He announces that the company is instating new rules regarding its myriad singles titles. Going forward, no one woman can hold multiple singles titles and winning one will automatically vacate any lower tier title she might hold. Medusa Miceli responds to this news graciously and hands over three of her four titles. Pat Patterson then announces that the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship are being retired, in favour of the NWA United States Women’s Championship – a title which will entitle its owner to a world title match after five successful defences. Similarly, the WWW Television Championship will now entitle its holder to a US title match after two successful defences. We then get a promotional video with snazzy graphics clarifying these changes in easier American-accented English and showing clips from past matches commemorating the now retired titles. Just before we go to another commercial break, we get a more involved sit-down interview with Medusa Miceli who says she formally accepts Lisa Moretti’s challenge and will happily meet her in a steel cage. After the commercial break, we get to the television title match, with Vicky Carranza taking on Leilani Kai. We get a fun match, here, with plenty of ringside brawling between Lady Apache and the Glamour Girls and a high spot from Vicky Carranza. In the end, however, Leilani Kai takes a shortcut and it pays off. Leilani Kai defeats Vicky Carranza in 10:03 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes in a Season Match to win the WWW Television Championship A video covering another one of the company’s charity drives then gets us to the interviews. Vicky Carranza gives a very shouty Spanish-language interview, whereas Leilani Kai is quite subdued and proclaims the new company rules to be her ticket to the world title. Another commercial then brings us to our penultimate match, with Rockin’ Robin taking on Luna Vachon. This one is clean and fast-paced, allowing both women to get some good moves in. In the end, however, Luna Vachon just can’t seem to put her opponent away and Rockin’ Robin is able to capitalise on her frustration. Rockin’ Robin defeats Luna Vachon in 08:56 by pinfall after a bulldog in a Season Match Another hype package for the main event plays before we head to the interviews. Luna Vachon is shocked to find herself joined by the Star Girls who say they admire her commitment to fighting fair and then offer to train her themselves. Somewhat taken aback, she eventually accepts. One last commercial then takes us to our main event, for the United States title. The match is highly competitive, with Velvet McIntyre holding the technical edge but still struggling with periods of hesitation and Linda Dallas cheating like her life depends on it. We get a little bit of drama at ringside but it ends soon enough when Medusa Miceli drives Kat LeRoux into the ring steps. The finish comes when Linda Dallas is successfully baited into taking her opponent into the corner. Velvet McIntyre wastes no time in making her pay for it. Velvet McIntyre defeats Linda Dallas in 15:09 by pinfall after a swinging hurricanrana in a Season Match to win the NWA United States Women’s Championship We end on a shot of Medusa Miceli gushing over her partner and holding her hands high as her new title is wrapped around her waist.

Great tag team action with a solid win for the Savages here! Always happy to see Butch Reed doing well! Intrigued by the Rockers! Jake Roberts versus Randy Savage! This was always going to be good, and this one didn't disappoint! I'm also desperate to see the Macho Man gets some gold around his waist! Lovely brutality with Bam Bam Bigelow and Abdullah the Butcher! Jimmy Garvin having his cheap victory interrupted by Jake Roberts was pretty sweet! Great end to the night here with a big confrontation on the horizon!

"Al, that's free advice and my last favour to you." I really dug that line! A nice bit of revenge for Tom Zenk gives Steve Keirn the win. Great to see! It sells Nick Busick's strength really well to have him catch Scott Putski like that! Loved the ending, the interaction with Bob Armstrong followed by another cavalry charge from Jerry Lawler!
-
Loved the Freebirds promo and the hectic finish to their match! Bill Kazmaier looks really strong here, and that press slam serves as such a cool visual!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXVII – “July Spectacular” – 27th of July 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Medusa Miceli versus Wendi Richter for the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship and the NWA World Women’s Championship The show starts hot this week, with Lisa Moretti squaring off with Susan Starr. Though Susan Starr has her cheerleaders in the form of the Giant Slayers at ringside shouting advice whenever they can, this is obviously Lisa Moretti’s match to lose. The two women keep things clean and have a sprinting back-and-forth but Lisa Moretti retains the edge throughout. Susan Starr tries to go high risk to even the odds but gets caught by her target and planted down with authority. Lisa Moretti defeats Susan Starr in 09:04 by pinfall after a powerslam in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Susan Starr is cheered up by her allies who all express begrudging respect for Lisa Moretti. The interviewer begins a trend by asking who Susan Starr thinks will win in the main event, and the answer here is Medusa Miceli. Lisa Moretti says it doesn’t matter who wins, as she could beat either woman and is long overdue another shot at the world title and she reiterates her desire for a steel cage. A commercial then brings us to our second match, this one between Kat LeRoux – with her partner in crime Linda Dallas at ringside – against Mad Maxine. The large woman is playing a babyface role here, as her strength is neutralised by the relentless cheating of her opponent. Mad Maxine gets a few good moves in and even manages to send Linda Dallas sprawling to the floor. This works to the benefit of Kat LeRoux, however, who takes advantage of her distracted opponent. Kat LeRoux defeats Mad Maxine in 11:37 by pinfall with a schoolboy roll-up in a Season Match After a music video promoting the companies top stars and hard-selling the live tickets, we arrive at the interviews. Mad Maxine appears on the verge of tears and rants about the dirty tactics of her opponent, otherwise ignoring the interviewer. The Nasty Girls cackle about the match and predict that Wendi Richter, despite their mixed feelings on the woman, will win in the main event. Another commercial then brings us to our tag team title match, with Rhonda Singh and Reggie Bennett – who the commentators have decided to simply go back to calling the Monsters – looking to defend against the Giant Slayers, in the form of Desiree Petersen and Winona Little Heart. The match is brutal from the start, as none of the women hold anything back. By the time we get to commercial, Reggie Bennett has a busted lip and appears about ready to murder someone. We return, somehow, to an even more brutal scene, of Winona Little Heart being tortured in the Monsters’ corner. It seems to go on forever before she finally worms her way about of the hold and rushes over for the hot tag. Desiree Petersen manages to knock Rhonda Singh off her feet before climbing to the top turnbuckle. Unfortunately for her, however, Reggie Bennett has had enough and ends the match with a chair shot. Desiree Petersen & Winona Little Heart defeat Rhonda Singh & Reggie Bennett in 29:02 by disqualification but the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship does not change hands Instead of interviews, we get yet more scenes of violence and chaos as the Monsters attempt to hospitalise their opponents. The other Giant Slayers try to intervene but Susan Starr hasn’t fully recovered from her earlier match and Selina Majors is easy-pickings for the enraged pair. Staff swarm into the ring, with a few taking bumps of their own, before we head to a commercial break. When we return, we get another season match with Jamie West taking on Malia Hosaka. Princess Delta Dawn tries to make some moves on the outside but finds herself neutralised by Rockin’ Robin. The result is a fun back-and-forth, with both competitors getting to show off their signature moves. It could go either way but, in the end, Jamie West has just a bit more technical skill. Jamie West defeats Malia Hosaka in 10:04 by pinfall after a lariat in a Season Match A video package showing off a recent sponsored charity drive by the company then plays us through to the interviews. Malia Hosaka offers up various excuses for her loss before mentioning that she thinks Wendi Richter will win in the main event. Jamie West gushes about her victory with Rockin’ Robin and they both claim to be confident that Medusa Miceli will win. We get another commercial break before heading into our next season match. Debbie Combs is facing off against Heidi Lee Morgan goes somewhat easy on her. The result is a fun match heavy on chain wrestling. When it’s time to go home, Debbie Combs steps up a gear and Heidi Lee Morgan just can’t keep up. Debbie Combs defeats Heidi Lee Morgan in 13:16 by pinfall after a neckbreaker in a Season Match Another hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Heidi Lee Morgan sits with Misty Blue Simmes and the pair briefly comment on the bad conduct of the Monsters before predicting that Medusa Miceli will pull off a victory in the main event. Debbie Combs is much more pessimistic and suggests that Wendi Richter will cheat to win. Another commercial break brings us to our penultimate match, with Goldie Ray taking on Brittany Brown. The two women have their partners and ringside and proceed with a traditional back-and-forth. They each get their time to shine but, in the end, Goldie Ray simply doesn’t have a good answer to all of Brittany Brown’s heel antics. Brittany Brown defeats Goldie Ray in 08:44 by pinfall with her feet on the ropes in a Season Match We get a sponsored-filled promotional video before heading into the interviews. Goldie Ray and Trudy Adams predict a win for Medusa Miceli, whereas Brittany Brown and Ashly Kennedy say they think Wendi Richter has it in the bag. After another commercial break, we arrive at the main event. We get elaborate entrances for both women and no interruptions. Instead, the match starts slow with a feeling out process. The two women are very well acquainted with each other and the result is a build-up to an ever quickening chain of reversals and counter-reversals. By the time we get to the commercial break, neither woman has made a risky move. We return, however, to scenes of a brawl and ringside, which regularly spills into the crowd. Wendi Richter then tries her technique of hitting a powerbomb at ringside but she is thwarted and the move is transformed into a hurricanrana. Eventually the two competitors realise that the match is most likely to end on one big all-or-nothing moment, and they race each other to the top turnbuckle. They beat each other senseless and trade position numerous times. The finish comes suddenly, as soon as the victor senses she has the opportunity to execute her move. Medusa Miceli defeats Wendi Richter in 35:09 by pinfall after a super German suplex to win the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship and retain the NWA World Women’s Championship We end on a shot of Wendi Richter roiling in pain as Medusa Miceli struggles to hold onto the mass of titles she now holds.

-
The Malenkos have done such good work here! Black Tiger versus Sabu is a really fun match, and the chaotic finish fits! Tony St Clair feels unbeatable!
-
Amazing main event! Six-man chaos is always a treat but having Jerry Lawler as the mystery partner turbo-charged the whole thing!
-
Nick Bockwinkel versus Texas Red would've been such an intriguing match to see live! I hope Big Bubba Rogers gets some comeuppance for this!
-
Three great matches in a row to finish the show! Really happy to see El Canek overcome such an impressive challenge in the form of Gama Singh! Great tag team action, with the whole thing left unsettled. I really hope the British Bombers can find a way to tip the balance! Cool main event! Loved the visual of Jerry Blackwell missing his charge!
-
Cool story being told with Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez! Nice squash for Jerry Blackwell! Very excited to see him take on Bad News Brown. Always nice to see a chaotic brawl of a main event!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXVI – 20th of July 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter versus Debbie Combs versus Misty Blue Simmes in a Gauntlet Match for the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship We open hot this week, with a season match pitting Babyface Nellie against Candice Pardue. Within minutes, the mutual respect between the two women broke down as Candice Pardue used every dirty trick she could think of to pull off a victory. Babyface Nellie was initially put at a disadvantage by the unexpected turn of the match but eventually managed to get back in the zone. The result was a tough back-and-forth but one that favoured Babyface Nellie the longer it went on. Babyface Nellie defeats Candice Pardue in 12:11 by pinfall after a running knee drop in a Season Match A hype package for the main event then plays before we get to the interviews. Candice Pardue refuses to apologise for her tactics and suggests that her only flaw was not going far enough. Babyface Nellie expresses disappointment in her opponent before moving on to excitedly discuss the main event. A commercial break then takes us to our second match, which sees Malia Hosaka going up against Candi Devine. This heel programme is nasty from the get-go, with clawing and hair-pulling galore. At various points, the referee seems to consider just throwing the whole thing out. Eventually, however, the match reaches a brutal crescendo. Candi Devine defeats Malia Hosaka in 08:30 by pinfall after a facebuster in a Season Match After a music video we cut to a fight in one of the interview rooms between Candi Devine and Malia Hosaka, blood appears to have been drawn and staff swarm in to break it up before we cut to a commercial break. Our third match strikes a very different tone, as Desiree Petersen and Trudy Adams go through a well-paced and clean match. At various points it almost looks like a training regime for Trudy Adams as she is regularly given time to regroup and allowed to initiate the next set of exchanges. In the end, however, Desiree Petersen brings things to their inevitable conclusion. Desiree Petersen defeats Trudy Adams in 10:45 by pinfall after a clothesline in a Season Match An ad-sponsored promotional video then plays before we get to the interviews. Desiree Petersen shows up during the interview of Trudy Adams to talk her up and they have an amiable chat which doubles as a combined interview. Another commercial break then brings us to our main event, which has been given plenty of time, being the first gauntlet match the promotion has held. Wendi Richter starts in the ring, and so is denied her usual elaborate entrance. Debbie Combs, however, wastes no time, dashing down to the ring and going full force before the bell has even rung. The two women know each other well and fight a highly technical back-and-forth, tiring them both out before even the first commercial break. The desperation Wendi Richter feels to get rid of her first opponent quickly backfires on her as it makes her sloppy. Debbie Combs fights as hard as she can but, in the end, it seems there’s an edge she’s still failed to gain on the champ. The commentators inform us that the elimination of Debbie Combs counts as a victory for Wendi Richter in what would otherwise have been scheduled season match between the two. The next commercial break functions as a brief respite for Wendi Richter before Misty Blue Simmes is sent down. The next fifteen minutes are brutal for the champ, who is sweating profusely and regularly screaming in pain but just when it looks like she might go down she toughs it out and delivers her signature move three times in a row before collapsing herself. Wendi Richter defeats Debbie Combs & Misty Blue Simmes in 51:32 to retain the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship We end on a shot of Wendi Richter sprawled out on the mat, panting heavily but still managing to crack a devilish smile.

Nice to see a squash for the British Bombers! Tommy Rich comes off as such an insufferable heel here. Good job! Really fun main event! I liked the little bit of confrontation we got between Larry Zbyszko and Al Perez! Jerry Blackwell looked so great in this match, and Bad News Brown looks all the scarier for managing to take him out and snatch the prize!
-
A Freebirds squash is a great way to open the show! Nice way to sell the piledriver! Ray Stevens looks like a beast coming out of this one! Fun angle with Tully Blanchard and Bill Kazmaier! Eddie Gilbert closes the looking like a crooked thug, good stuff!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXV – 13th of July 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Wendi Richter versus Misty Blue Simmes versus Leilani Kai versus Velvet McIntyre versus Rhonda Singh versus Debbie Combs for the WWW Television Championship This week, we open with a video package covering the past few months, focusing on the season matches and what the leader board looks like so far. After that, we get to the opening match between Babyface Nellie and Ashly Kennedy. Tough Ashly Kennedy gets a few solid hits in and her partner Brittany Brown illegally assists her in various ways, Babyface Nellie is clearly in a whole other league and dominates the match. Babyface Nellie defeats Ashly Kennedy in 09:04 by pinfall after a running knee drop in a Season Match An advertisement for the VIP tickets than plays before we get to the interviews. Ashly Kennedy has the cheek to claim foul play but mostly defers to Brittany Brown who uses the time to talk about her own upcoming match. Babyface Nellie is pleased with herself and ends her interview by saying she thinks Debbie Combs has a good chance to win the main event. A commercial break then takes us to the second of our three season matches, with Candice Pardue taking on Goldie Ray. The contest is respectful to begin with but as time wears on without Candice Pardue gaining a significant advantage she shows her darker side, which the fans have come to expect by now. Goldie Ray tries her best to hold her own, with plenty of moral support from Trudy Adams at ringside, but eventually succumbs. Candice Pardue defeats Goldie Ray in 11:39 by pinfall after a missile dropkick in a Season Match Before the interviews, we get a hype package for the main event. Goldie Ray tries her best to shrug off the loss and allows Trudy Adams to talk up her chances of beating Brittany Brown after the commercial break. Candice Pardue, for her part, sheepishly praises her own “quick thinking” to secure the victory. A commercial break then brings us to our last season match of the night. Trudy Adams tries her darnedest to make something happen but, in the end, Brittany Brown is just a little too nasty and devious. What we get, then, is somewhat of a showcase for Brittany Brown and Trudy Adams ends the match getting tossed around like a rag doll. Brittany Brown defeats Trudy Adams in 08:33 by pinfall after a snapmare in a Season Match After an ad-laden promotional music video, he head to the interviews. Trudy Adams is in a bad way, hugging her bruised body, so Goldie Ray speaks for her and praises her effort. Brittany Brown cackles about her victory and says it ought to entitle her to a title match. Another commercial break then brings us to some tag team action, with Deisree Petersen and Winona Little Heart facing off against the Nasty Girls. We get a lot of back-and-forth fun in this one, as both teams are familiar enough with each other to have developed interesting counters and strategies. Whilst at various points it looks like it could go either way, in the end, Winona Little Heart is the one best poised to capitalise on a lapse in her opponents’ focus. Desiree Petersen & Winona Little Heart defeat Linda Dallas & Kat LeRoux in 14:03 when Winona Little Heart pins Kat LeRoux with a victory roll One last hype package for the main event then plays us into the interviews. The Nasty Girls stomp around, barely answer any questions and level a dozen different accusations at their opponents. The Giant Slayers congratulate each other before declaring themselves ready to dethrone Rhonda Singh and Reggie Bennett. Another commercial break then brings us to the main event. Though it’s a battle royal, the opening rounds of the match play out more like a six woman tag match, with the faces and heels forming teams. We get an even showing, with one woman from each informal side going out shortly before the commercial break, specifically Leilani Kai and Velvet McIntyre. After the break, things begin to breakdown and the teams dissolve. Rhonda Singh finds herself on the wrong end of a three-on-one, being hoisted up over and out. Debbie Combs and Misty Blue Simmes then try their hardest to eliminate Wendi Richter but her wiles prove too much. Misty Blue Simmes gets pulled out, crashing hard to the floor, leaving Wendi Richter and Debbie Combs to battle in something that vaguely resembles a singles match. The two wail on each other before both attempting to go high risk. The pair connect in the air, with Wendi Richter just getting the better of the exchange and tiredly picking up and then eliminating Debbie Combs. Wendi Richter defeats Debbie Combs & Misty Blue Simmes & Rhonda Singh & Velvet McIntyre & Leilani Kai in 27:44 in an over-the-top-rope battle royal to retain the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship do not change hands We end on a shot of a victorious Wendi Richter holding up her belts and taunting the crowd. * P.S. Apologies for yet another absence here. I was having trouble accessing the site (although I'm assuming these recent changes might've fixed that), and I've had to switch to a different word processor (which might be obvious, if the formatting change is as stark as it seems). Should be plain sailing from here, though.

Akira Maeda gets a solid win here against stiff competition! Loved the visual of Fit Finlay putting the boots to Buddy Rose! Another epic main event! Nick Bockwinkel is such an impressive champion!

Wonder Women of Wrestling – Episode No. LXXXIV – 6th of July 1987 – Airing Live! – Las Vegas, Nevada Advertised Match: Misty Blue Simmes & Heidi Lee Morgan & Babyface Nellie versus Leilani Kai & Judy Martin & Liz Chase for the WWW Trios Championship We open this week’s programme with a promotional music video covering the gauntlet Wendi Richter ran last week before transitioning to her television title defence against Babyface Nellie. The two women start things slow and deliberate, never overcommitting and fighting defensively. By the time the first commercial break has come and gone, however, the champ has managed to outwrestle her opponent and the proceeding ten minutes serve as a showcase for her power. Wendi Richter defeats Babyface Nellie in 28:31 by pinfall after a powerbomb to retain the WWW Television Championship and the WWW Fighting Spirit Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship do not change hands A brief hype package for the main event then plays us through to the interviews. Babyface Nellie is bruised and groggy and begrudgingly compliments the champ on her considerable skill, saying she'll still have it in her to fight in the main event. Wendi Richter says that the company knows she’d win an all-or-nothing match against Medusa Miceli and that it was unfair of them to make her defend her titles in separate matches last week. Another commercial break then brings us to our first season match, with Reggie Bennett taking on Despina Montagas. The Glamour Girls are out in full force for this one, getting into scraps with Rhonda Singh at ringside but generally failing to interfere with the match itself. Whilst Despina Montagas gets a little shine here and there, the contest largely revolves around Reggie Bennett’s significant power advantage, with predictable results. Reggie Bennett defeats Despina Montagas in 12:01 by pinfall after a sitout powerbomb in a Season Match An advert for the merchandise catalogue then serves as a transition to the interviews. The Glamour Girls spend a little time ranting and raving but soon move onto running down their opponents in tonight’s main event and promising to win back their titles. Reggie Bennett always Rhonda Singh to use the interview time to talk about her upcoming match and she threatens to hospitalise Lady Apache. A commercial break then brings us through to this match. Lady Apache and Rhonda Singh tell a classic David and Goliath story, with Rhonda Singh getting in lots of big moves but ultimately falling to the clever tactics and bold moves of Lady Apache. Lady Apache defeats Rhonda Singh in 14:33 by pinfall after a missile dropkick in a Season Match After the match, a jubilant Lady Apache is blindsided by Rhonda Singh and the sore loser proceeds to stomp a mudhole in her opponent before we cut to commercial on sees of staff members flooding the ring. We return for the main event, which is a wild brawl from the very beginning. The chaos lasts all through the commercial break, with plenty of crowd interaction and even big bump – with Leilani Kai being driven through the announcers’ table at the height of the mayhem. There are several points at which the match appears to be wrapping but the finish only comes once Leilani Kai has been put out of commission and the tide turns in favour of the faces. Misty Blue Simmes & Heidi Lee Morgan & Babyface Nellie defeat Leilani Kai & Judy Martin & Liz Chase in 33:40 when Babyface Nellie pins Liz Chase after a running knee drop to retain the WWW Trios Championship We end on a shot of the faces celebrating with their fans.

Great story told here with the tag team gauntlet! The Killer Bees made a good showing but Giant Haystacks was a step too far! It's cool to see Brian Adidas and the Grapplers making their mark here! Texas Tornado rules always make for a fun match! Loved the finish, very interested to see where Radiance goes from here and if they stay together! Stan Hansen versus Dusty Rhodes! What a match! Really cool finish with the lariat off the rebound! Always a treat to see the Road Warriors in a cage! Excellent post-match angle, as well! Ric Flair versus Tully Blanchard! Wow! What a match to see live! Amazing main event for an amazing show!

Barry Windham looks great coming out of a tough match with Cannonball Grizzly! Fun stuff with Hart family drama! Amazing main event to top it off, and the Pride really do look like a force to be reckoned with!
