  2. You are absolutely right Haha, I confused them since I always saw them together in Impact. No worries about being that guy, thank you for correcting me.
  3. Oh yes absolutely, I had completely forgotten about that match. Really the epitome of the worst of all the criticisms and the stereotypes of today's style. Crowd absolutely gave no shits about anything they did outside the odd flying move. And Tevor Lee gets such praise from a lot of folks but man this did not make him or Xaiver look anywhere near their best to new fans seeing them for the first time.
  4. I was watching the Shawn Michaels Unreleased DVD set today and while watching a Rockers match, I saw them attempt a double team STO type manouver that looked awkward to set up and I never had seen them do before. It made me think, what are moves you've seen talent do that ended up not sticking in their repertoire and are fairly forgotten about? I also recalled while pondering this, when Raven during his TNA and ROH run in the ealry to mid 00's he started spicing up his moveset by adding in things like an ankle lock and the X-Pac style kicks in the corner ending with a step up kick which after his summer NWA title run seemed to disappear from his moveset. Anyway, what are some of your memories of forgotten manouvers?
  5. What about Kobashi's chops are so bad? He had such a powerful build and threw his whole frame into them, I thought his chops looked way more clubbing and damaging than Benoits. Benoit's chops were loud and crisp whereas Kobashi's were thudding blows, which I always interpreted like a leg kick in MMA, the ones that don't make a loud pop have so much more force and power landing.
  6. I agree on Salina, she has poor promo ability and doesn't seem to have much charisma once you get beyond her look. I get Court trying something different with her basically attempting to almost be a 2018 version of Gary Hart but she seems to not have "it" thus far in my opinion. As for Gotch, whatever he's taking definitely has made a world of difference as the last few months he's had gyno that was creeping up on Jinder's level of unsightly. He does have a heck of a lot of promo ability when he talks though which I never would've known during his WWE/NXT run.
  7. I couldn't find it either
  8. One from Dynamite Kid's book where someone shared the clip due to his recent passing that I've never got to see footage of before, Dynamite Kid gets into a uncooperative struggle with Kantaro Hoshino. Excerpt from his book that the uploader added to the video description, From Pure Dynamite: There was one Japanese wrestler called Hoshino who always wanted to be the big hero in the ring -- well the little prick was only five-foot-four anyway. We wrestled a singles match one night, and all the way through he kept trying it on with me, so in the end, I just opened up on him. Which he didn't like. He had me in a corner, he stuck a grovit on me, and said, under his breath, "You shoot." A grovit is a front facelock, an old Wigan move anyway, but when it's put on you properly, forget it. He would have leaned how to put a grovit on from Karl Gotch, I'm sure. But one thing that I learned from the short time I was at Riley's Gym, was how to get out of one. I reached across for his left elbow and wrenched hard. It took him by surprise, and nearly took one of his fingers off. The next night, me and Bret were wrestling Tiger Mask and Hoshino in a tag match. Before we went to the ring, Sayama came to me and said, "Tommy, no trouble tonight, Please." Hard to see but you can see Dynamite break and peel off Hoshino's hand at around 5:19. Nothing major but interesting to see either way.
  9. Dynamite Kid was from the era before I became a fan but growing up here in Canada you'd hear from older Stampede fans or fans of the 80's WWF boom talk about what an amazing wrestler Dynamite Kid was. Not having any footage of him, as a kid I only read about him in old wrestling magazines and i remember WWF Magazine in 1996 or so ran a feature called "Yo, do you remember" which featured Dynamite Kid in the issue I had. They talked about his legendary ring work and ability along with his physical troubles that led him to leave the WWF(Obviously kayfabing using his real back injury to explain his departure rather than the real Rougeau thing). Finally when I got to see tape of him in the 2000's after reading about him for years I had big expectations and I was still blown away. From then on I spent years collecting and researching everything about him. Obviously everyone knows and has heard of his actions outside the ring and it should not be disregarded but still as a pure talent in ring he is still one of my favorites and it bums me out to hear he's gone. He obviously suffered a lot health wise and most would say he deserved it so thankfully he's out of whatever pain and suffering he was enduring for his choices. RIP.
  10. What does that even mean?
  11. I agree on Havoc, I love MLW but I have not been impressed at all with him and I don't see anything he does particularly well. There are several deathmatch guys (even though I've grown to really not enjoy the style as I've gotten older) who can do much more in the ring and in terms of charisma in both deathmatches and regular bouts than Jimmy.
  12. I know he talked about it during his Back to the Territories Shoot with Jim Cornette from Kayfabe Commentaries.
  13. I don't remember him mentioning it when I reread a bunch of the Observers on the archive, what was the cause of the falling out?
  14. I've only learned of Steve Beverly through his publication being mentioned on Between The Sheets these last few years. From what I've heard/read of his work, he really seemed to know his stuff for that era, why did he leave the wrestling world and why did he get buried like this by other wrestling writers? Jealously or just petty bickering among sheet writers?
  15. Why knock CIMA when trying to make your argument for Big Daddy? Just seems childish.
  16. I've heard Paul Orndorff talk about this before but this is the first time Tony's commented in my memory. So what do some others here think, did Paul whoop Tony and bite his ear or did Tony just cradle and hold Mr. Wonderful and Paul got flustered and bit him in retaliation?
  17. Well said, 100% agree.
  18. Taz was the epitome of a bully, no problem berating a guy like Stevie Richards or his House of Hardcore students but backed down like a coward when anyone remotely tough like RVD when he slapped across the face and challenged him to fight or when 2 Cold Scorpio told him to fuck off when Taz tried telling him that he couldn't wear his orange and black tights because they were Taz's "colors"(If Sting with his spot in WCW gave up on Scorpio getting rid of the scorpion on his tights then like Taz was gonna make Scorpio do shit). Taz really thought because Paul pushed him as their Ultimate Fighter character that he was the real deal and strutted around like it was the truth with his bullshit workout tapes he hawked and his worked win over Paul Varelans. Tazz in WWF didn't have the political stroke to start drama in that era and wasn't really tough enough to do shit, it wasn't until ironically enough he became a coach on WWF Tough Enough that he was able to get his rocks off acting like king shit tough guy wannabe shouting at some kids. Taz is chilled out quite a bit since then but man back then I had no respect for what he was about, real tough guys don't have to go around harassing those weaker or lower than them.
  19. In last weeks Observer, when running down info Dave mentions that Kendo Nagasaki (Peter Thornley) was doing a new book and unmasking tour, then briefly mentions the famous TV unmasking of Kendo and how he was so unsuccessful without the mask they put it right back on him. For those UK wrestling fans who know a lot more than me, is this true? I've read The Wrestling by Simon Garfield and the recent Have A Good Week… Till Next Week by John Lister and don't recall this being mentioned. Knowing Dave's sometimes poor interpretation or knowledge of British wrestling history I was just curious if he was correct here?
