  1. "Great Wrestling Cons(Allegedly)" as a Patreon Show needs to happen some day
  2. Great show guys, playing the "Aztec" Jeff Jarrett theme had me in tears. September/October 97 in WCW to me is the period when all the midcard stuff goes to hell, the Blood Runs Cold stuff gets dropped just as the matches get good, the Lucha guys lose the increased TV Time they got under Terry Taylor, the short lived Jarrett/Guerrero/Alex Wright/Debra group is dropped even before Jarrett quits, Benoit and Mongo look like idiots for letting Flair get beatdown by the nWo. You also get pointless stuff like Ray Traylor being beatdown and Spray Painted every week and Scott Hall "putting over" Hector Garza As a 10 year old Bret Hart fan this period of WWF was so depressing, if Austin wasn't there I would probably have stopped watching and just watched WCW. I sound like I hated 1997 but January to August is so amazing and then the dropoff is so rapid.
  3. Not sure how to break it to you Parv
  4. It's crazy that he wasn't even put on the ballot until 2012
  5. Dave in the 11/28/88 WON after going to a WWF TV Taping "The best thing about the show was the ring announcing by Howard Finkel. I've never really paid close attention to that before because I usually concentrate on the matches, but decided to concentrate on everything but the matches here. The guy belongs in the ring announcers hall of fame with Jimmy Lennon, and even Lennon wasn't so meticulously perfect." From reading his comments about him you wonder why Dave doesn't try and put Michael Buffer on the ballot Edit: Got the quote from one of the great summaries Loss did http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/10201-20-years-ago-won-112888/
  6. Paul Jones opening a present from a young fan
  7. I've been doing a JCP 85 watch and I'm at the end of August, in terms of quality Worldwide smokes the tbs show, you get better angles and matches plus those great crowds, the TBS show did improve once we got the Midnights coming in and the start of the Superstation Championship Challenge Series. I'm in love with the Jimmy Valiant/Paul Jones feud, Jones is so over the top, him screaming "Not a Dog Collar Match" as loud as he can with "The Boy from New York City" playing in the background is hilarious, Billy Graham has been off TV for a few weeks so it's lots of Barb and Abby squashes which I'll always appreciate. The Anderson's and Tully against America's Team stuff is also great, Magnum attacks Tully while dressed as a police officer, Sam Houston gets his arm broken and Baby Doll has just returned to Tully after 30 days with Dusty which has "the Highest Paid Sports Attraction in the world" complaining about the $4035 Baby Doll spent in Hawaii I love this stuff so much Favourite Moment of the year: After David Crockett gets Russian Sickled on the interview stage we cut to the Ring for a Barbarian squash and him and Paul Jones burst out laughing at Crockett Close 2nd: A young kid gives Paul Jones a present leading to the Dog Collar incident mentioned above
  8. Did the US ever get the WWF Fab Four Special? It was a series of sitdown interviews with Bret,Shawn,Bulldog and Undertaker before One Night Only in 97 which were slighty out of character and really different than anything else WWF ever did before then Can only find Undertaker's online http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4ftref
  9. Am I crazy or did we have a short period where we were a week behind on the tv? Want to say it was late 96/Early 97 Edit: We did, never knew it got to an 18 day delay for RAW at one point http://www.wrestlingforum.com/classic-wrestling/633200-question-old-school-wwf-e-fans-uk-circa-96-97-sky-sports-centric.html
  10. Few ideas for topics Did any angles ever happen in the 11 year run of All American Wrestling? Your opinions on patriotism angles and use of US Celebs? Being from the UK they always bored or confused me as a kid until the 97 Bret stuff, when they said Lawrence Taylor was a football star I looked through my USA 94 sticker book and was so confused that he wasn't in it, were they lying to me? How long did it take to wonder if a wrestler had left? Seeing guys taken out of the opening for Superstars/Challenge was the only clue I had at the time(or showing up in WCW) WWF production in 94, they started turning down the lights for everyone's entrances and were using buildings for RAW where you could actually see the walls, I hated it so much back then How many WWF shows you would watch in your average week? My 94 would look like Saturday - 12:00pm Mania, Sky One Saturday - 05:00pm Superstars, Sky One Sunday - 12:00pm Challenge, Sky One Sunday - 05:00pm All American Wrestling/Action Zone, Sky One We had no RAW until 95 so had a version of Mania that was all RAW highlights
  11. This was his quote, keep in mind he reviewed the TBS shows from 85 "It was that way all the way back to Landell’s run in 85, where he was doing the exact same act as Flair with the same name and no one ever pointed it out on commentary. You’d think this would set up some kind of a feud or confrontation, but NOPE. It always confused me as a kid, too." Edit: I know the videos from Worldwide but it aired on TBS as well
  12. Vince doing Beefcakes 10 minute RAW promo in 2 minutes is outstanding, shame it's wasted on this really http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xlnrb1_vince-mcmahon-interviews-brutus-beefcake_sport
  13. Toured AJPW in 75 and NJPW in 81/82 from looking at the Clawmaster Archives http://sportsandwrestling.mywowbb.com/forum2/31188.html
  14. The number of panic moves WCW made in in the Spring of 98 is amazing, Bret/Giant/Hall/Luger/Sting were all worse off for turning heel/going nWo, you also get Hogan putting the brakes on the Nash feud which made the Wolfpac directionless for months.
  15. Not sure on the length/value of his contract but you wonder how Savage managed to put up with that role for nearly 2 years, the few times he was given anything to do he was awesome
  16. There are two "tells" in the same way you're talking about the babyface JTTS getting the "crank it up": 1. Heat sequence. As in they'll get one. 2. Getting heat back after "competitive matches" on arena shows, specifically MSG / Boston / Philly / Meadowlands. So let's say Iron Mike Sharpe drops a fall to a low level non-pushed guy like Sifi Avi, he'll probably get his heat back. In 92/93 it's much easier to tell because there's the Virgil/Tito test, beat them and I'd say your at worst a midcarder but if you lost the match you were a JTTS or about to leave the company
  17. Interesting quote from the September 13 Observer "IRS, who was planning on having one month off, was put back on the road replacing Mr. Hughes, who is serving a six week suspension. Adam Bomb replaced Hughes originally, but Bomb was booked in tag matches with Bam Bam Bigelow against Steiners at the next run of house shows, so he couldn't replace Hughes in the singles matches against Razor Ramon, which is the role IRS will take" Makes IRS going over Kid at Summerslam even weirder, the guy about to feud for the IC Title gets beat by a guy with no feud upcoming.
  18. It's so sad listening to all the GCW plans for expansion is so sad in hindsight. the WWF changed so much in 1 year, compare this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVISbkdJ9UI to this less than a year later
  19. One of the greatest commentary teams of all time, and I'm not even joking. Invasion 92 is so great and I wish it was online https://legitshook.squarespace.com/wwf-videos/2016/6/18/wwf-invasion-1992 You wonderful human being
  20. Mr. Hughes is a guy I think Bret could have got a decent 10 minute match out of on TV, loved his backdrop bump which was awesome. The Tunney Rumble 92 dark match deal was an attempt to get him cheered later which failed miserably. I always associate the babyface JTTS with Crank It Up, if you never got to use it then you were pure jobber, heel JTTS was more difficult as you only really had Brawler and Sharpe as long term guys with Horowitz being a guy who'd pop in and out, a lot of guys whose tag partner left became one like Boris Zhukov in 89,Smash,Kato and Blake Beverly If liz taking her dress of in 88 was a 15 here then Sherri 4 years later is an 18+
  21. My problem with the Flair vs. Sting match is that it's 2 identical matches in 1, halfway in they just hit the reset button and do everything again. The Foley Burial was spot on.
  22. One of the greatest commentary teams of all time, and I'm not even joking. Invasion 92 is so great and I wish it was online
  23. Last figures I bought were those awful mini ones they did in 96/97, did have an IC title though which I could have done with years earlier for my hasbros
  24. Thanks for the kind words
