Ustinov gets called back to the motherland but Zhukov finds a suitable replacement in Shasta. Big Money Marcus gets his first win in Memphis. Rogers keeps this up and Jarrett is gonna have to beef up security. Ron Wright getting political. I like it. Aww, that's so sweet of Dutch to offer his winnings to a con ar...er I mean... disabled old man. Solid win for White Lightning. Jim Crockett Promotions would like to remind Mr Landel that there are laws against slander in this country. Wright tries to pass Dutch a weapon but Douglas bonks him in the head with it. Unfortunately the ref catches that last part so Wright gets his money after all. Love the fire from Douglas in the post match promo.

The masked Terrors get one up on Lou. Dancing Wolf keeps his head against the Headhunter. Ash could be in line for a big push in his home state. Tojo and Reno have a wild one to close the show.

First TV. Synergy get us off to a hot start & let Badd Company know they're coming from them. Dream Machine continues his pitch to Johnny Rich. But it seems The Wild One isn't buying. Kirchner gets some payback on Charland. The Fortune Ones win one for the Gagne Gang. United Kingdom take advantage of the craziness to get one over on The Gunslingers. Perez isn't letting his losses to the champ get him down. Putski ain't afraid to wrestle a Grizzly. The Gange Gang leave Canek, Mando & Rich laying. On to Title Night 2. I'm sure the San Juan crowd was thrilled to see Chicky. Rheingans gave it a good try but the TV title is staying in Larry Land. The OG Midnights get DQ'd meaning we're definitely getting more with these two teams. Idol retains in a blink and you'll miss it match. Kelly & Peterson win the tag titles almost by accident! This is gonna be fun. Bad News: Brown & Colon go to a double C.O. Good news: Morrow wastes no time signing the rematch for Champagne Slam.

I like that you're starting out with house shows. Really gives it a authentic feel.

From the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham Alabama. Airing live on the USA Network on 2/18/88. On Commentary: Gordon Solie To become the Inaugural NWA Heritage Champion. "Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller defeats "Pitbull" Kerry Brown. Brown had Fuller in position for a Powerbomb when Jimmy Golden ran down and distracted the ref allowing Tough Guy Inc to sneak in and hit a double Lariat. The ref turns around to see Fuller making the pin and counts to three. The Renegade Warriors (Chris & Mark Youngblood) defeat The Moondogs (Rex & Spot) w/"Number One" Paul Jones when Chris pinned Spot with a top rope sunsetflip. The Moondogs jumped the Renegades after the bell starting a brawl that security had to break up. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal)(c) defeat The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi & Cocoa Samoa) when Champion pinned Afi with his feet on the ropes. "Rugged" Ron Garvin & the debuting "Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard defeat Radiance"Jimmy Del Ray & Chic Donavon" w/ Precious when Prichard pinned Donovan with a Super kick. Southern Street Fight. "World's Strongest Man" Bill Kazmaier vs Black Bart These two brawl all around the arena & batter each other with chairs, chains and even the ring bell. The finish sees Bart lay Kazmaier on a table and go up for the "Texas Trash Compactor". Kazmaier gets up and crotches Bart on the top rope. He then pulls the table closer before putting Bart through it with a second rope powerslam to finally claim a win over the dangerous outlaw. The Paul Jones Army (Matt Borne, The Great Kabuki & Abdullah the Butcher) w/"Number One" Paul Jones defeat Super Strong Machine and The Zero Fighters (Keiichi Yamada & Hiroshi Hase) when Abby jabbed Hase in the throat with a fork then pinned him with the "Sudanese Meat Cleaver" *Before the main event, we see a graphic reading "Crockett Cup 88"* Main Event. NWA World Tag Team Titles. The Rock n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson)(c) vs The Commonwealth (Adrian Street & Bill Dundee) w/Ms Linda We close the night with the highly anticipated rematch for the tag titles. The champs don't have the element of surprise this time & the challengers are extra focused. We get about 25 minutes of intense action with everything from southern style brawling, technical wrestling and some high speed offense from the champs. The Commonwealth isolate Morton who plays face-in-peril like only he can. Eventually he makes the tag & Gibson comes in like a house of fire. The end sees Street holding Gibson while Dundee comes off the top with a axhandle but Gibson moves & Dundee takes out his own partner! Morton comes in & the champs hit a double dropkick to retain.

IPW doesn't waste time as we're off & running. Fun fact, when I first got into the game I strongly considered running a territory in the Ozarks so it's pretty cool to see someone step in here. Speaking of my early days, I had a lot of fun writing for Tojo. Glad to see Papa-san already causing trouble. Nice touch having your first show be a fundraiser. I understand that promotions used to do this frequently and it'd be a great way to build goodwill.

I've been watching some Music City Wrestling on YouTube so I'm actually pretty familiar with Bert Prentice. Looking forward to seeing International Pro brings to Arkansas.

Portland night 1. Furnas pushes Mr Backlund to the limit. The Demon claims a chunk of Bloom's hide on his way to victory. Cactus & Cyrus are a frightening addition to the PCW tag division. The Iceman puts Smothers on ice. The Playboy Club take out Hall's knee in their quest to claim the California title. Portland night 2. Enos & Armstrong avenges his partner's honor. Damaging the knee is already paying off for the Club. Hart retains but Bull can honestly say that if the bout had been one fall he'd be the new champion. Windham knocks the Bulldozer off the road. Finally Eugene. The Force put a Stake in the Vamps. The Animal pounces on Blackman. Owen and PCO have a successful first outing as a team. Flowers gets dirty to beat Snow. Cheetah Kid takes Flyin'Brian to a draw. St Clair wins one for the British Invasion but he still has to deal with Neidhart.

Super D & Poffo get some shine. The Barbarians beat down Murdoch to bail out Rotundo. JYD Thumps Gilbert as Steiner leaves his "teacher" high & dry. Speaking of Steiner, he captures the TV title and while Eddie boycotts the celebration Missy seems to be happier about it. Steiner & Hercules retain over the grizzled veterans. Kassie/Akbar help Debiase retain the Louisiana title. Reed pins the champ and gets some side eye from Williams.

Hope your kid has a happy birthday. Gordy won gold in Japan and now he & Hayes are gunning for more at Triumph. Snuka pays Ware back by helping fend off the wildmen. Twin Towers get their shot at Triumph. The Rockers have so many potential challengers Bockwinkel has to make a decision. Konnan gets a showcase while Pegasus cuts a fire promo. We get a chaotic ending as Race & co put a beating on Rhodes and Spivey.

From the Center Stage Theater in Atlanta Ga. Previously recorded & airing on 2/11/88 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Gordon Solie Ring announcer/interviews: Sean Moony Match #1 "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi vs Chris Champion The other half of the NWA United States Tag Team Title match go at it tonight and pick up where their partners left off last week. We get an energetic opener which sees Champion stretch the rules as far as he can without breaking them. Afi pushes through and his trusty Jumping Headbutt is able to bring victory home. Match #2 The Moondogs (Rex & Spot) w/"Number One" Paul Jones defeat The Atlanta Falcons with a Backbreaker elbowdrop combination on Falcon #1. Paul Jones & The Moondogs join Sean Moony after their match and cuts a searing promo on the Renegade Warriors. Says he's got The Moondogs ready to tear "those stinking Injuns to bloody chunks on national television". Says he's got two rabid killers that will tear through the tag division until they bring him the tag titles and the Youngblood's are just the first victims. Match #3 "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers defeats "Marvelous" Mike Mulligan with the "Hangman's" neckbreaker. Match #4 Robert Gibson vs "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms Linda We continue our build to the main event at SuperBrawl with a intense back-and-forth between two of the headliners. Gibson tries to use his speed to overwhelm Street while the British grappler looks to wear Gibson down with a series of submission holds. Gibson starts to pick up steam but as he's running the ropes, Ms Linda pulls them down while the ref is checking on Street and Gibson crashes to the floor. Gibson is in rough shape and just barely breaks the count only for Street to pounce on him and slap on the Cross-face Chickenwing. Gibson struggles with all he's got left but it's not enough and the Tag champ has to tap out. Match #5 "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious defeats "Pugnacious" Peter Jackson with a Brainbuster. After the match, Garvin cuts a promo where Mooney points out what he did to Ron in Charlotte with footage being played of Jimmy delivering the Brainbuster on the concrete floor. Jimmy just shrugs and says if Ron actually had friends they could've stopped him. But Ron has nobody which is why he knows his boys Radiance will be able to put on the finished touches at SuperBrawl. Match #6 "World's Strongest Man Bill Kazmaier vs Black Bart never gets started as Kazmaier meets Bart in the aisleway and the two brawl around ringside with Kazmaier grabbing a chair to fend off Bart's bullwhip. Main Event. NWA World Television Title. "Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller(c) vs "British Magician" Steve Wright Wright had a memorable run with the TV title and know stands to become the first two time holder in the NWA's modern era. That combined with the fact that the winner of this match will not only go down in history as the last NWA Television champion on top of having a chance to become the first Heritage Champion, the stakes are quite high indeed. Jimmy Golden accompanies his cousin to ringside but the referee ejects him before starting the match to the champs frustration. Though this throws him off for a bit, Fuller is able to adapt and we get a tightly contested main event. The end sees the two trading punches but when Wright lands a right hand, Fuller grabs at his face like something hit him in the eye. The ref tries to check but Fuller won't move his hand. Wright tries to press the advantage but the ref moves him back while Fuller "loads up" his boot. As soon as the ref moves away from Wright, Fuller charges forward and nails the challenger with a big boot for the 1..2..3. Robert Fuller is heading to SuperBrawl.

Rip Rogers. Can't say he's made much of a impression from what I've seen of him but I can see him getting heat in a place like Memphis. Jarrett said the line! Plus his promise to bring in the big stars is off to a good start with Dick Slater Dutch gets a pass on his bullrope, ONCE. He'll need to come up with another trick when he steps in the Franchise. The Lightning Express get a win while the Russians get to complain about corrupt American officiating. Everyone wins! Also I think Dutch has Zhukov confused with someone else.
-
Mean Streak vs The Glamour Boys is a natural feud. Kirchner & Charland kick it up a notch. Venomous said he was ready for whoever won the battle royal but I don't think anyone was ready for Peterson & Kelly to be the winning duo. Stevens isn't afraid to put Oliver back on the shelf. The "tune up" blows up in Gagne & George's faces. The Ultimate Warrior arrives at Champagne Slam! Bad News lays it out for Colon. Takes more than knowing how to fight to beat the champ.
-
The Road Warriors bring the International Tag Team Titles back to WCW but the Twin Towers look to make their reign a short one. Spivey and Madness are solid additions to the Race/Rhodes feud. Konnan vs Pegasus one more time, title vs title, mask vs mask! The Freebirds put Steamboat on notice but Savage is still hot on their trail. Muta is on a roll. The Sheepherders look to have the belts in hand but we'll have to wait till next to find out!

Victoria. The Cheetah Kid builds of his Aloha win by beating the always scrappy Crash Holly. Dustin puts up a spirited fight against the Widowmaker. The FoJ carry their feud to the other tag team of the Playboy Club. PCO saves Owen from the Wild Things. I think we're about to find out just how Tough Neidhart is. Vancouver. St Clair begins his crusade against the Knights Templar with a win over Candido. The DC knock down the Golden Guns. Hall overcomes the boss of the Playboy Club but Rose doesn't look finished. Flowers takes a dirty pin on PCO. Rough night for the Club as the SCS fall to Coast 2 Coast. Another Hennig defense ends in chaos courtesy of the NoE. Kelowna. Looks like the Cuban Assassin wasn't ready for Prime time. Unfortunately for Brookside, Eddie was feeling froggy. Spicoli taps to Perez. The Vampires put the Lethal Weapons in the ground. Bob Holly puts Pillman through the ringer but Flyin' Brian retains. Bret & Buzz get lost in the brawl.

Huge main event announced for March 6th in New Orleans. Dr Death & Hacksaw v Luger & Vader in a steel cage. Super Destroyer is getting tired of waiting for his shot at the TV title. Between all the craziness, The Genius picks up a solid win. Rick becomes #1 contender to the TV title, some might say in spite of his teachers. After their "glowing endorsement" of their student, I hope Rick wins just so Eddie can pout about it. Dibiase escapes JYD with his title but the Snake strikes him down in the aftermath.

I've never heard of a wrestling company airing a special show for a single match but considering it's Jumbo v Fujinami 2 I'd say it was worth it.

While the four beat the fire out of each other, The New Breed simply shrug, collect their titles and leave. Eventually Kabuki and SSM join the frey leading to.... Super Strong Machine and The Zero Fighters (Yamada & Hase) defeat The Paul Jones Army (Kabuki & The Moondogs) w/"Number One" Paul Jones when SSM pinned Rex with a "Machine Lariat".

The Bruise Brothers defend against a wildcard team and the big one, Carlos Colon goes for the world title on his home island. Blackwell & Gagne are definitely gonna have a plan for Canek. Chicky has a successful first match in the Diamond Mine thanks to Kelly and the Vin Man. Charland accepts the Corporal's challenge. Adams reaps bloody vengeance on Nikita. Los Guerrero's with a nice showcase. Rich finds out that as annoying as he is, Dream Machine was right about needing some friends. Ash is ready to sick his savage on Busick. Rheingans is going to Larry Land.

Taking wrestling back to "a time of yesteryear"... Dutch taking potshots at a promising rookie...Ron Wright in a wheelchair...Smokey Mountain has come early! Well technically we've had a version of Smokey Mountain in the game but this just captures the spirit of it so well. I like the touch of your bigger jobbers putting up a fight. We tend to think of our squash matches being totally one-sided but watching the old shows some of them would get some good shots in. It's been said before plenty of times but you really can't go wrong having a pair of Russians in your first proper feud. Lightning Express are a fine All-American pair to take them on. Memphis wrestling is back baby!

Muta makes for an exciting opener. Snuka gets some backup in his feud with the wildmen. The Twin Towers make a painful example of the Killer Bees. Pegasus and Konnan get carried away beating each other's asses. The Rockers win the battle of the bad guys. Mark Madness certainly surprised the Dream. The Freebirds bail out their brother Hayes against the Macho Man. Steamboat cements himself as the top guy in WCW. I thought for sure Bigelow was gonna snap but he took his L like a man.
