From the Dorton Arena in Raleigh NC. Previously recorded & airing on 5/6/88 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Gordon Solie. Ring announcer/Interviews: Sean Moony. Match #1 Brickhouse Brown vs Big Daddy Cyrus w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller Before the match, Robert Fuller comes down and introduces the new manager of the Stud Stable, his older brother "The Mastermind" Ron Fuller. Ron wastes no time affecting the match giving advice which several times allow Cyrus to get the advantage over the more athletic Brown. Brickhouse kept fighting and had the bigger man rocking but the ref looking the other way allowed Fuller to reach in and trip Brown which caused him to stumble into a spinning sideslam giving Cyrus the tainted win. Match #2 The Patriots (Firebreaker Chip & Todd Champion) defeat Quinlan Leroi Franklyn & Gabe Archibald Lowe with the "Emergency Situation" (suplex/crossbody combo) on Franklyn. Paul Jones joins Moony and the recap the rough week the Army had last week. Jones says he set out to assemble an elite group of talent and he clearly failed in that regard. Says the kind of setback he suffered would cause a lesser man to give up but he will come back even stronger. Says the rebuilding of the Paul Jones Army begins tonight with his newest client.... KAMALA! Match #3 "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/"Number One" Paul Jones & Friday defeats Mark Russell Beasley after beating him senseless then throwing over the top rope with Beasley failing to answer the 10 count. Match #4 The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi & Cocoa Samoa) vs The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) w/Jr Foley The island duo put up a fierce struggle but were eventually overwhelmed by the unhinged New Zealanders with Afi falling to the double gutbuster. Match #5 The debuting Brett "Hack" Sawyer defeats Oswin Grosvenor Stamp with a German suplex. Terry Taylor & JJ Dillon join Mooney before his match. Taylor says what happened at the Crockett Cup was just the beginning of him running Flair out of the NWA for good. Says Flair will hold the Ten Pounds of Gold again, not because he isn't good enough but because Taylor won't let him. Match #6 "Terrific" Terry Taylor w/JJ Dillon defeats Eli Jayme Tindall with the "Five-arm". Main Event. NWA United States Champion Bruiser Brody & "The Doctor of Desire Tom Prichard vs The Commonwealth (Col Debeers & Rip Morgan) w/Jr Foley Brody & Prichard certainly made an interesting site together with the 80's rock n roll hair of Prichard looking bizarre next to the wildman Brody. To be fair, despite being part of the same faction one got the idea that the disciplined, militaristic Debeers wasn't entirely comfortable teaming with the more manic Morgan. Nevertheless, Foley managed to get his men on the same page long enough for Debeers to hit the face first Piledriver on Prichard for the 1..2..3 while Morgan held off Brody. Morgan wanted to pile on Prichard but Brody grabbed his chain and Foley called a retreat. The show goes off the air with Brody standing tall in the ring while The Commonwealth backed up the aisle, Foley having to restrain Morgan from returning to the ring while Debeers made the best around his waist gesture.

Night 2 is gonna be big.

LA night 1. Niedhart has had enough of Mr Backlund's slide into moral degeneracy. Kinda embarrassed to say I'd forgotten you had Sunshine. But between Haynes and now The Southern Boys she's getting quite the group together. The Blood Syndicate show the Weapons how Lethal they can be. Brookside's quest to prove himself leads to a loss to the Diamond Exchange. Speaking of the Exchange, their muscle taps out to the Hitman. LA night 2. The Demon seems to have awakened something in Cactus. Mr Backlund looks a little flustered after losing his prize pupil. Rhodes with a solid win. Rose steals a win from Owen. Payne is in the doghouse after a loss to the Brigade. Put in a cage, The Beast triumphs over The Animal. Santa Barbara. Jerry Lynn puts a exclamation point on a rough week for the Knights Templar. The Monster pounces on a wounded Snow. Pillman scores a win over one half of the Golden State Tag champs. Footloose put down the scrappy Holly Cousins. Flowers & Cheetah Kid both retain their titles against a pair of tough challengers. Curious to see how Miller reacts to the Crazy Gang being replaced by the NoE. Also to see who makes us Stormfront.

Stick with it DJ, I'm sure you'll get the hang of farm life. Tom Jr gets a good showcase with the American but he'd rather be chasing tag team gold with his brother. We get a proper introduction to pest control specialist, Brandy Mae. The hottest feud are in IPW gets taken to the next level with the introduction of the tag titles. 1 down & 3 to go for Riggins & Wolf.
-
Taylor proved a tough test but the Warrior passed regardless. Bad night for Austin as his men go 0-2. Poffo saves Zbyszko's Mid-America title. The feud with Idol just got even more intense. A lightning fast win by Los Guerrero's leads to the break up we all knew was coming. After another stiff challenge, Brown can still raise the world title high.

Gary Hart must be a hell of a negotiator to get Chono a shot at the European title in his first match. In contrast, Vega just straight up demands a shot at Konnan. Z-Man looks to crash Hayes' party. Johnny Ace is the first to step to U.S champ Spivey. The Rockers are ready to bring the fight to the Towers. Savage may still be hurt but he still wants another shot at Steamboat and the Dragon agrees. Dusty throws down the challenge for the Match Beyond and unleashes his secret weapons..... The Road Warriors!

Poor Lance, the show started out so well thanks to Terry but it all went downhill fast. Ok I really love just how honest Budro was in his promo, he may not be the best wrestler but he gets under your skin like nobody's business! A monthly deal with the Mid-South Coliseum and a plan to crown new Southern Tag champs. Things are picking up in Memphis. Slater is on the warpath. If I were Rich I'd show up in two weeks, seems like the safer option.

Synergy provide an exciting opener. Well Gagne promised muscle and Tony Atlas definitely qualifies. Nikita & Fujinami both look strong heading into the Memorial Day tournament. Speaking of which, Dream Machine is in babay! The Harris Brothers arrive to put in work. Barr & Deaton? Yeah I'd say Unhinged Outlaws is a good description. Kokina sends Busick a painful message. Sawyer vs Colon? Bring on the carnage! Yeah I couldn't post pics here either so I think there's something going on with the thread.

Victory & Tatum are exactly the kind of guys I can see running around with Gilbert and Hyatt. Luger & Woman turn on Vader! Now they've got the monster on their tail. Dr Death is back and calls his shot for the Louisiana title. The Steiner brothers reunion has begun. After losing Hercules, Roberts & Ellering the fans surely loved seeing the faces stand tall to end the night.

Huge changes coming to Ring of Honor. Rumors of a shake-up among RoH top brass have been confirmed. In a press release earlier this week company president Cary Silkin announced he had hired a new head for the company's booking committee as well as a change to the promotion's TV deal & streaming service. Under the new deal, Ring of Honor will air a two hour show every Thursday night starting on 5/18/2023. The episodes will be uploaded to Honor Club 30 days after airing. Likewise pay per views shall now be airing live on Fite TV before being uploaded to Honor Club 90 days after airing. House shows will air live on Honor Club and be archived the next day. To compansate for the reduced amount of live content for the site, Honor Club's monthly fee will be lowered to $6.99. The new era of Ring of Honor will begin on 5/14/2023 with Honor Reigns Supreme airing on Fite TV from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach California. Matches for the event will be announced in the coming days and the company is running a special 2 for 1 deal where purchasing Honor Reigns Supreme will allow buyers to get the following event Masters of the Craft airing 5/28/2023 from Cicero Stadium in Chicago Illinois at a discount. Ring of Honor was founded in 2002 and has been a driving force in the American independent wrestling scene for over two decades. After a scare in which fans were wondering if the company might actually go under, we here at WhatCulture wait to see what awaits us in the new era of Honor.

This time I remembered to specify that I wanted *English* names from the random name generator. Yeah, that's what attracted me to the idea of these two feuding. Defending the honor of his people, representing his culture, these are things that would matter to Wahoo perhaps even more than winning a title. Especially since he is getting older and he doesn't want to leave things in the hands of a guy like Lightfoot. Yeah I just remembered you using that in Windy City. I can edit that part out if you want. That way you can use Lethal Lottery while I stick with Battlebowl.

NWA Live @ the Memorial Auditorium in Greenville SC 5/2/88. "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers defeats a local talent with the "Hangman's" neckbreaker. "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride defeats The Great Kabuki w/"Number One" Paul Jones with a inside cradle in a huge upset. Jones shakes his head in disgust and walks off without Kabuki. The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) w/Jr Foley defeat The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi Cocoa Samoa) after Foley hit Afi with his helmet. "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard defeats The Monster" Rip Morgan w/Jr Foley by DQ when Morgan hit Prichard with his chain right in front of the ref before using it to choke Prichard out. Super Strong Machine defeats Abdullah the Butcher w/"Number One" Paul Jones with the "Machine Lariat with barbed wire wrapped around his arm!

Hayes certainly is aiming high. Between the match between Konnan & Silver King next week, as well as the Conquistadors, Lucha Libre is represented very well. Tiger Mask 2 & Azure Dragon are coming to represent Japan. Speaking of Japan, Muta returns next week and he's bringing Gary Hart with him. But they may have already hit a roadblock in Benoit. Dusty promises he's found another partner to stand with him at World at War. Looks like WCW is about to have a snake problem. I smell collusion going on between Bockwinkel & Spivey.

Some very interesting matchups taking place in the Emerald City.

Oakland. An impressive debut for the Army's new Japanese recruits. Mr Backlund is increasingly taking the easy way & Neidhart is not happy. Hmmm, I wonder who could be under the Hangman's mask? Candido put up a fight but Hall was just too much. The Blood Syndicate, most metal tag team name ever. The Holly Cousins have had enough and decided to make some friends in the Diamond Exchange. San Francisco. Christopher just keeps on rolling. A wounded PCO falls to the Monster. The Southern Boys welcome Death Sentence to the tag ranks. Hashimoto scores his first singles win. Rose costs his team and now the SCS have to worry about the FoJ. Windham has to take a cheap win against Pillman. Fresno. Neidhart's hometown continues to be good to him. Rod just paid the Price for standing in the path of the Bulldozer. Cyrus falls prey to Perez's ever growing arsenal of submissions. Eddie gets sneaky to hold on to the Golden State Tag Titles. Candido goes 0-2 over the weekend thanks to Hennig. Flowers retains but the real story is Brookside's frustration.

Poffo & Adidas get solid showcases. A classic angle as Rich & Dream Machine take turns screwing each other out of wins. A thrilling six man tag is always a welcome sight. Canek showing off his power. Busick & Strong come together to fend off Iaukea & Kokina.
-
The Renesto Brothers are together but Tim is still looking for the Zebra Kid. Love the twist on the DJ suspension angle. Now she has to spend the next 3 months working for Jamie and Spazzinsky.
-
I like the bookend with the challenger and champion for the world title match at Title Night. Venomous is ready to inject the OG Midnights with a lethal dose. Baby Doll is looking for a tag team. Maybe Badd Company? They kinda need the help. Dream Machine doing what he does best, running his mouth. Nelson's little dig at Gagne must've felt good. But Gerry gives Greg something to be happy about by promising the Fortunate Ones a tag title shot. Larry Z is such a dick. I hope Idol knock his head off. Vin Man sets the record straight, there is absolutely no dissection in the tag champs and he definitely isn't playing favorites. Norvell helps his man Grizzly land a TV title match.
-
Ole says Hansen can step up whenever he's ready to have his Lariat arm torn clean off.
-
Sorry I don't know what I was thinking.

We get a promo reading "Battlebowl" with commentary promises details next week. We get a pretaped promo from Ric Flair. He's fired up and says that while he intends to get his belt back from Blanchard, first he means to take a piece of Terry Taylor's hide.
