I am putting 8/8/88 in purgatory. No more 8/8 talk until the errata set. It was boring. MOve on.
To be clear, we nominated a ton of matches. We had to make cuts. Just because a match doesn't appear doesn't mean we didn't like it. Alot of the matches above were nominated. However, we think the ones on the set are better.
Dusty-Backlund was nominated. I was the lone Backlund rep on the panel and the sole reason there is any Backlund on this thing. Backlund-Hogan was left off because that match will be represented on WWF. I thought Hansen-Backlund was good enough to go on and I loved Backlund-Choshu rolling around on the mat... more then the low-level endorsement I gave Backlund-Dusty.
We enjoyed the 1982 Choshu-Fujinami matches but the match-up appears 7 times in total. Those were the weakest of the two.
We put 4 DK-TM matches on there. I think that is a pretty damn good representation of what the feud is about. I liked the 10/21 TM-Kobayashi match. It didn't have enough support to make it on and I wasn't going to use a personal pick on it when we already had the matchup twice.
I am in no way, shape or form part of the Fujiwara is the Best camp. On this set alone, I like Fujinami, Choshu, Murdoch and Liger /Yamada better. I think Jumbo is a better wrestler. However, the majority of those Fujiwara matches are pretty fucking great. Maybe 5 or 6 are ones I wasn't crazy about.
