  1. It becomes an issue because in this day and age, if you want to be an alternative to WWE then you should not remind your audience that you are ripping off a very WWFish gimmick.
  2. I didn't get that vibe from Foley's book at all. Put it this way... when Foley and Austin were with WCW, they were floundering in the midcard. When Vince gave them a chance, they both became successful draws. In WCW, they were never given the chance. Foley reinforces that point time and again and he is right. IF he was given the chance and failed then whatever. Foley just wanted the chance.
  3. I don't think that will happen anytime soon.
  4. Rey was right there at the end too. How hard would it have been for Henry to charge at Rey, Rey drops down, pulls the top rope down and Henry tumbles over. The underdog triumphs. Eddie's friend triumphs. I start watching SD! again. Now, none of those things happened.
  5. I really don't see anything in Abyss to like. I HATE his costume. THe only matches of his I have found entertaining are the gimmick matches and even those weren't exactly good.
  6. It is about the ratings when you are trying to determine if more people are tuning in or tuning out. It is also a relevent item when the Fed even felt it was necessary to post it on their website.
  7. It isn't how high the rating is this week. It is how high (or low) the rating remains in the weeks following to see if it had any real impact.
  8. I love bloody brawls in old buildings with dim lights. Maybe this is why I am more involved with old school bloodletting and don't really care about the blood flowing down a current WWE star's face while the bright lights and colorful ring serve as a background. The sole exception might be the Eddie-JBL bloodbath from Judgment Day. I love the Eddy-JBL match from Judgment Day
  9. What this shows is a complete lack of faith in their current SD! roster.
  10. You know, I think now is the time to end the brand names. SD! has had a death, an inury to its World champion, its U.S. champion, and arguably a major defection (Christian). We might worry about the guys on bottom getting less air-time but lets face it... most of the undercard is really weak anyway. Fuck it, end the brand split so you can only have to worry about one champ, one tag team division (which could possibly increase the chance more guys are being used), one lower level belt and a bunch of possibilities.
  11. The biggest problem I see with this is that Vince's ideal of wrestling is so warped that I don't see him shifting his paradigms in an attempt to seem legitimate.
  12. Is that at $5 a disc?
  13. New World Champion: MArk Henry!
  14. I loved it when I was watching a shitty RF tape and I sawthe end and I saw the RF Video clip of the Ganso Bomb for the first time. I kept rewinding it because it was the most painful move I had seen at the time. I have since seen worse but I was completely taken off guard whenI saw that. The same clip had Dragon Kid doing the 450 Rana which I also thought was pretty cool. I loved Dynamite Kid's book. I am still hyped up after reading it. I love making lists of wrestling matches and arranging them in an order I think I would like to see them in.
  15. Where was this quote taken from? That is nuts!
  16. Unless the WWe shifts its focus to a more MMA-oriented style, there is no way MMA could benefit WWE.
  17. You must be new to the internet
  18. Strummer, you forgot the best part of that whole thread....
  19. I love old Ric Flair promos. I do not like Ric Flair promos for WWE. Wait... no negativity... no negativity.... no negativity...
  20. I think it is a horrible idea to have an MMA storyline. The more you focus on MMA, the more it reminds people and reinforces the fact that most of your product looks fake as f**k.
  21. I am loving the hell out of 2005 lucha. Right now, I am only up to April but someone is either goin g to get a huge chunk of money from me or a nice part of my collection.
  22. I like coming onto wrestling message boards and learning about matches I may have missed out on if not for the internet. Then after acquiring said matches, I like to watch the matches and see if my opinion is similar to other internet geeks. THen I like arguing with others who's opinion does not match mine.
  23. Dude, this is what I had envisioned you doing with the WCW comparison thread. I was hoping you could make direct comparisons with modern-day WWE with the Death of WCW like this example.
