  10. They're a bit hard to define. I don't know if I would call them a satellite of JCP. Toronto seemed to be its own territory: it had it's own group of guys who seemed to appear on the MLG cards. It also used JCP talent, and it also used WWF talent. They also would bring in the AWA champ on occasion. Backlund was there all the time up through early 1980. Graham's site is light on full card results as 1980 goes on, before getting fuller again in 1982. It has more of a St. Louis feel: major city, limited local guys, largely drawing from all over the place for big matches. Maple Leaf TV showed JCP studio matches a lot.
  11. Well they are basically brothers in law now
  12. Maple Leaf Wrestling was aligned with Crockett from 1978-84 but used WWF talent at times and it increased in 1982-83 but it was still a Crockett satellite group until Summer 1984.
  13. His attitude killed him more than just about anything else because he came in with this total entitled attitude thinking he was the biggest star in business which he was in Mexico but still this isn't like Mil Mascaras in the 70's calling his own shots this is current WWE where they want you to fit their system not the other way around. Between that and his injuries his time there has been a flop. They were ready to make Kharma a big deal but her situation killed that dead.
  14. WWE was basically the only promotion to do the cooling off stuff and they have done it forever in the big markets but it wasn't really for cooling off back in the day but for curfew purposes. Every other territory booked their cards in order of match status.
  15. Dave is coming more from a live POV but he acknowledges that the internet is the internet when it comes to anonymous bile. I was shocked by how unsophisticated Dave's views on race are. He was trying to argue with me on Twitter and legitimately thought that showing the UFC fan demographic included Hispanic and black fans somehow negated the possibility of racism. Yes, he essentially made the "UFC has black friends" argument. Dave also doesn't believe sports announcers use racially coded language. It was a serious wakeup call for anyone who thinks his expertise includes anything outside the realm of professional wrestling. I know a lot of MMA fans who don't root for Jon Jones because he is "uppity" in so many words. I live in a town that is skewed more black than white but not too much more and all the black guys I know don't care about MMA but love boxing. Back when I actually watched UFC I couldn't get any black guys to watch with me but when it's big boxing then I have a house full.
  16. He used to be the king of the streets in Athens, he would get in many bar room brawls and was notorious for walking around campus with a water cooler like device with beer coming out of it through a pipe in his mouth.
  17. Goldberg got into wrestling late in life. When he was at UGA he was legendary for his off-field antics and would've fit in perfectly in the wrestling business
  18. What was his most successful angle? Who was the biggest star he created? Heyman totally deserves credit for making Rob Van Dam. When push comes to shove he was the biggest star to come out of ECW in the end.
  19. Me & Dylan watched just about every ECW show from 1997-the end and as years the grew the attendances did as well but they were running very small buildings and I'd say those estimates given above sound about right on the average but their PPV shows did fairly well in bigger buildings.
  20. I know George Scott's last couple of runs were terrible but he definitely should've been on that list
  21. Watts booked a lot though on his own right. He booked Florida & Georgia numerous times along with McGuirk & Mid-South.
  22. I voted for Eddie Graham and the main reason why is he was the Obi-Wan Kenobi of wrestling bookers of the modern era. Pretty much all of the bookers in the south except Memphis learned from him and took his philosophy along with their own ideas and made their territories successful. Plus Eddie ran a dominant territory for over 20 years and a territory that was seen as the gold standard of territories in it's heyday.
  23. Sad
