WWE reported it on their site and tweeted it tonight
-
This one is almost as bad Flair over the Funks and Sullivan
-
How does Tommy Rich not even make the list
-
Jeff Hardy count?
-
Yeah I thought it was a personal pick just couldn't remember if it was me or not. We all thought that a Sherri match belonged somewhere
-
Take it from someone who was a ton of shows at that time there were a lot of people still pissed about the way Flair left. Sure Flair wasn't doing lights out business on top he was still the man and him going to WWF was a huge blow. The fans still wanted to love Luger and his heel turn was pretty much a flop. Dangerous Alliance was awesome yes but Rude wasn't a lead heel. Jake Roberts could've worked but we know how that turned out.
-
Plus let's not discount JYD's power in WWF as he firmly slid in Slaughter's spot as the #2 babyface in WWF (when Andre wasn't around) drawing well on his own up until the Orndorff turn.
-
Sorrow brings up a great point about Watts trying to find a new JYD....he went through Brickhouse Brown, Master G, Iceman Parsons, The Snowman, Brickhouse Brown again before finally just saying fuck it Butch Reed is the #1 black babyface. If JYD was a fad then why were they trying to replace him for a year. The Freebirds were brought up here as well.....it can be argued that if it wasn't for the Birds then JYD wouldn't have been nearly as big a star.
-
We always called Horner the Braves version of Arn Anderson because he was Murph's enforcer
-
JYD was brought into all the major territories at least once before he left for WWF GCW, Boesch, JCP, Memphis, World Class, & Florida and he was always portrayed as a huge star.
-
Jon Lovitz maybe
-
What a coincidence from today's WON update
-
One thing that gets brought up in conversations about Watts & Continental were that when they moved their TV from the studio environment to live from the house shows it killed those towns in particular. Birmingham went down big time because their card was being telecast every week with most of the main events being on the air. Tulsa & OKC while we don't have the numbers went through the same thing in 1986 where they started out strong but the more TV the less they came. If these promotions would've been smarter they would've went the JCP route and taped in more locations.
-
The Braves had a few drawing years with Murph (1982-84) and 84 is pushing it but most of Murph's career as the face of the team they were a terrible draw and put on a lackluster product on the field. There were many nights at Fulton County Stadium from 85-90 that the Braves drew about 2,000. Take it from me who lived and died with the team as a kid.

This is what I have crowd wise from the peak era to the end. There were a lot of factors to the demise of Mid-South such as the oil crisis, spending way beyond their means, Ken Mantell's booking, Duggan leaving for Vince....etc..
