  1. Yeah when Cena breaks out the mega STF it's awesome though.
  2. Don't forget the Hawaii match with Flair/Kerry. Flair was Garvin's best opponent I think easily and also Windham's. Flair/Sting from Clash I was the best televised match in their feud IMO.
  3. Wahoo/Johnny Valentine was the feud that made JCP into a singles territory. The deal with Flair was Flair was the guy for JCP until he graduated out after winning the world title. If you notice the territory takes a dip slowly after he quits being a full-time guy. JCP was very interesting to watch between 1982-84 as the roster became more depleted especially in the midcard early then the main event scene in 1984 until Dusty came to town. Flair being heel champ in 1982 didn't work out the best as yeah he still drew but the fans didn't want to boo Flair even back then. Babyface Flair always meant business for JCP but the biggest business in those years took place during the Kernodle/Slaughter vs. Steamer/Youngblood feud. Flair came back in after losing to Race and he was hot as fire being the babyface Flair of 1980-81 again teaming with Steamer against the Briscos along with aligning with Piper not to mention the Race feud. It wasn't until Flair became more grounded in 1985 that he reclaimed his spot as the guy in JCP again so imagine if Lawler won the AWA title and left Memphis full-time for 4 years I don't think the territory survives. JCP struggled at times but survived and even did bigger than normal business for a stretch.

  5. Let's all laugh at Jeff Gaylord with JC Ice http://twitter.com/JamieDundeeFukU/status/...3665920/photo/1
  6. Race worked for NWA in 1990.
  7. People eh
  8. One of the best promos ever was the promo Bob cut with Lance in the locker room after SMW won ownership of the USWA. Bob was going over the future of the USWA's staff and it was phenomenal.
  9. I thought Bullet Bob & Murdoch as ex-Marines was a great tag team never consumated.
  10. Lawler vs. Rude in 1984 was a pretty damn good feud as well.
  11. There are thoughts that Taker may sit out Mania this year
  12. Show has become one of the premier PPV workers over the past year
  13. The one thing about WWC from the 80's is that they had some of the most godawful TV you would ever see match quality wise but sometimes they would show matches from the stadiums and arenas and it was like holy shit this is a totally different promotion. A problem though was they would clip up the matches which when it came to watching them for the pending 80's set I couldn't nominate quite a few that deserved it because of said clipping.
  14. Some more of Phil Don & Ron Bass vs. Hickerson & Greene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTFEnV3rBCo Hickerson & Shimma vs. Dundee & Lawler Hickerson & Shimma vs. Jarrett & Bubba Hickerson & Shimma vs. Travis & Starr Hickerson & Cactus Jack vs. Brian Lee & Scott Steiner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp_XkbiTHTs PY & Travis vs. Borne & Jarrett http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoJt7IfC1uEp PY Chu-Hi....office linebacker
  15. I love me some Phil Hickerson and it's a shame that he never fully devoted himself to the business because whenever he came around he was easily one of the best guys on the Memphis roster. Hickerson worked regularly in the late 70's mainly teaming with Dennis Condrey in one of the greatest tag teams of the era but footage of that team is extremely rare and when the 80's started Phil disappeared. Phil had outside ventures such as running a night club and being a radio DJ based out of Jackson, Tennessee and he basically took the first 4 years of the 80's off until returning with The Spoiler (Frank Morrell) to start a feud with the New Fabs (Eddie Gilbert & Tommy Rich). This guy hadn't worked since 1979 and came back like a beast having an awesome feud then continued to work fairly regularly for the next couple of years before taking off again and coming back in 1988 where he was a member of the Stud Stable. Phil's most memorable run was becoming PY Chu-Hi for World Class with Tojo Yamamoto in their legendary feud with Eric Embry which by that time Phil wasn't as good of a worker as he was in his prime but he could still go. Hickerson in his prime was amazing for his size as he would pinball around the ring like a man 100 lbs lighter than him and he was basically a poor man's Crusher Blackwell. Hickerson was as good of a promo guy as he was in the ring as he was this badass country strong redneck who would talk shit outside of a honky tonk then backed it up with ease before going back for another bottle of Jack Daniels. I believe if Hickerson would've worked 1980-83 in Memphis or other southern territories, he would've been at a higher level among the hardcores but outside of a select few of us he is a lost treasure. Here are a few videos to peruse Jackie Fargo & Tojo vs. Al Greene & Hickerson (1975) Hickerson vs. Terry Taylor (8/19/85) Hickerson & Lawler vs. Gordy & Hayes (8/26/85) Hickerson courting Lawler Hickerson vs. Jim Hellwig (December 1985) Dustin & JJ Funk vs. Landell & PY Chu-Hi (12/1/89) Hickerson vs. Billy Travis feud (June 1987)
  16. Rock winning the title is an absolute certainty although it may not happen tomorrow....I can see him definitely winning at the Elimination Chamber
  17. What makes 1985 is that we get Flair working basically everywhere and having great matches against a wide variety of opponents.
  18. I'll say 1985
  19. Sounds like California Championship Wrestling......I remember Wildman Jack Armstrong all over TV
  20. Dave upset at the voting on Feud of the Year
  21. That is the most amazing thing to me and speaks volumes about the awards. TNA really.
  22. Yeah I totally blanked on Choshu....he would definitely be in Kengo's spot.
  23. Kerry was the biggest star of the bunch by a mile. David had a short shelf life because of his death while Kevin was on top the whole decade plus was the better worker.
  24. If we are going 80's then Ole doesn't make the cut. There you have a 16 promotion bracket with 4 men making it a perfect 64. The promotions are listed in order of population basically.
