  1. Isn't CM Punk liberal? I know he's an atheist, which is even more rare in North American pro wrestling.
  2. Here you go Loss, Tomk's post is on this page: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Goonieschoice/...2164&st=600 But it all started here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Goonieschoice/...;st=420&hl=
  3. He should be arrested for impersonating a good businessman... - Vince McMahon Here's the pretty entertaining video segment with McMahon and Coachman discussing the situation: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4176887&a...egoryid=2378529
  4. I forgot the details of the story, but I do remember Meltzer writing that in 1915, the New York Times talked about how wrestling was fake and gave away certain details about a tournament that took place in New York that year.
  5. Is this the match? There is an awesome "playing possum" spot early on that I don't think I've ever seen out of Bret before.
  6. So far, this is my favorite match of the year. Also, congratulations on your wedding!
  7. I was really impressed by a number of things in this match, especially how awesome the moment was when the technico was taking on three rudos at the same time, then leaping out of the ring. Satanico was amazing, the way he was able to make that matwork look so hateful was brilliant. Also when Ringo and Satanico started swinging punches, Mendoza's punches were awesome and Satanico's selling and body language were some of the greatest things I've ever seen.
  8. Kevin Cook on watching Santo vs Panther:
  9. I'm halfway through this show and it's so awesome. Btw Bix, the Afa vs Dick Murdoch singles match from MSG that Chris Hero is referring to is from 10/22/84.
  10. Has anyone here been keeping up with Dave Meltzer's posts on the F4W board?
  11. I've been seeing some of Atlantis' work from the early 80s and he definately belongs on this list. I was watching the famous Atlantis/Santo vs Rubio/Guerrera match from November of 83, it was really spectacular and according to the luchawiki Atlantis' debut was in June 12, 1983. Sure Fuerza was in there with him, but for such an inexperienced worker, Atlantis looked phenomenal and so did Santo. Another match that really impressed me was Atlantis vs Emilio Charles Jr. from 1984 (ohtani's jacket has an excellent match review on his great lucha blog), which featured some really excellent fast pace matwork and was a match I really loved. I haven't seen as much of Santo's work during this period, but his Arena Mexico debut tag match and the mask match with Espanto Jr. lead me to think that he was also just a natural.
  12. Might be a silly question, but I was wondering what is the earliest recorded footage of someone pulling off an Asai Moonsault? I was watching some 1989 lucha libre, and was really surprised to see Atlantis bust out a great looking Asai Moonsault outside the ring.
  13. Thanks for posting these. That Martin Karadagian bio from the HOF issue was phenomenal, it's the best thing I've read in the Observer this year. Other than that website, is there any other place to get more of Kurt Brown's writing? Btw, Brown is scheduled to do an F4W daily tomorrow, which is really cool news since he was a great guest the last time he was on for lucha week. I love these short clips from Titanes en el Ring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RJxSseC1G0 and this is by far the greatest entrance in pro wrestling history:
  14. So the latest inductes to the WON HOF for 2008 are: EDIT: Oh, also Benoit stays in and Meltzer posts a lot of voters comments. Including one voter wanting Benoit out of the HOF for the EVIL actions of almost getting the government involved in pro wrestling and for making pro wrestling look bad in the media.

  18. Someone sounds a bit bitter. Dave Meltzer's reply to this on the F4W board was pretty funny: I got confused for a while. I was trying to figure out why he called me overweight and silicon-laden.
  19. Lance Storm also attempted to kill Goldberg by running him over in 2003 to build up to Jericho-Goldberg.

  22. Huh? Haven't heard those stories. What happened? Iron Sheik's daughter was murdered by her boyfriend a few years back. Dave brings this up every once in a while as a reason why he doesn't find Iron Sheik's ramblings funny. I don't know about the other story.
  23. I have to admit, the stage self destructing was kinda hilarious.
