Fun, different little concept to hype Doom/Steiners. Personally, I'd like to hear more about Teddy Long's houseboat.

I was barely paying attention to this match, checking emails and such, as this seemed like a pretty shitty match and I wasn't immediately sure why this even made the set. Then I hear the crowd chanting "MISAWA, I look up, and Tiger Mask suddenly isn't masked anymore. So I rewound, watched it, thought "Hey that was pretty cool," and went right back to checking emails. Not a good match, but hey, the unmasking was pretty cool.

Grizzly is a real creep, but mama doesn't seem so bad. This is a nice segment, it's just too bad that their dad exists. Notice that they didn't claim Rockin Robin as the 5-Star Wrestling women's champion, just the World Women's Champion, which is technically correct, as she never lost the WWF Women's title.

Why didn't we get a SummerSlam payoff for this feud anyway? As it was, they gave Boss Man a lot to do on that card without actually wrestling a match, refereeing Jake vs Bad News for some reason and replacing Tugboat as Hogan's second against Earthquake. I guess they didn't want to beat either guy since DiBiase was moving on to Dusty and Boss Man was moving onto Rude, but it is a shame we didn't get a blowoff match on either SNME or SummerSlam between these two, as I imagine it would have been quite good.

I immediately checked out of this when one of the ladies kicked out of a piledriver on a 1 count in the first minute of the match. It was certainly action-packed and fluid, but hitting big moves (especially the piledriver) early in the match without really selling them is a good way to make me not care about the match. Maybe that's just the joshi style and I'm not exposed enough to it to appreciate it, but for this match at this point for me, it was enough for me to not care about the rest of the match.

I feel like Jeannie botched the trip on the suplex to a degree too (Austin may have contributed towards this). Not a great match, but it does move things forward.

My goodness. SID VICIOUS IS DRESSED IN A TUXEDO CUTTING A PROMO ON ROBOCOP. This is fucking Pro Wrestling. If I die, and somebody cares to make a wrestling tribute video in my honor, this goes on there.

Once somebody pointed out to me that Luger is always making the "L is for Loser" shape with his hands during his promos, it ruined Lex Luger promos for me forever. That said, this is a good fired up promo, but I see him still making the L shape with his hands and I start laughing, which is probably not the reaction you want from a top babyface.

This is simple, yet great stuff. Jerry Lawler is an asshole who visits a boarded up old house and claims it's Valiant's mothers, then interviews Valiant's mother at a laundromat. Valiant has enough of Lawler's assholery and runs him off, cutting the first serious promo on the Yearbook about how his mother passed away and how he's going to kick Lawler's ass on Monday. It's simple, great stuff to make Valiant sympatheic and make Lawler an asshole... ...yet it doesn't work, because the crowd still prefers Lawler over Valiant. The Memphis fans just do not want to cheer Lawler and prefer him to Valiant, even if they otherwise like Valiant.

For a promotion that seems to be pushing that they are getting away from fuck finishes, the Memphis branch of the USWA sure seems to be running a lot of fuck finishes. This looks much better in clipped form than what I imagine it looked like in full.

I like both of those things. But the one thing I really like is batshit crazy fans who throw piss at the heels. Does Puerto Rico have that as well?

The 80's are officially over - Rick Rude has cut his hair. I might be in the minority, but I think I preferred long haired Rude, as it made him look sleazier and more conniving. Short haired Rude looks more serious for sure, but nobody thinks a serious Rude can beat Warrior. A sleazy Rude relying on Heenan? That might (and did!) beat Warrior. This might not make any sense, but it's late and it's been a long day.

Dusty does a really good promo here talking about kissing Savage's foot. Have to give Dusty and Savage credit, they haven't had a ton to work with here in this little midcard feud, but they're both doing what they can to make it seem important. Sapphire stiffs the hell out of Brother Love, who is acting so obnoxious (even for him) that you know he's getting his by the end of this segment.

I think WCW had a few runs on the Feud, no? Fun stuff. I'd rank them Scott Steiner, Sting, Luger, Animal, Rick Steiner in terms of answers, but could easily be convinced to switch the last two. And the GLOW women do not appear to be very smart at all if they lost 4 out of 5 to this crew.

Flair seems pretty confident that the Horsemen will come out on top thanks to the acquisition of Sid. Gordon Solie insinuates that Woman fucked Sid to get him to join the Horsemen, which Woman doesn't really deny either. Jim Ross says Paul E. Dangerously is back next week, so I guess he's gone from ICW at this point, which is a shame, as I'd like to have seen more of him with the Lethal Weapons.

Sid's promo on RoboCop makes me sad that we never got a Sid/RoboCop match. C'mon WCW, you didn't need Peter Weller in the actual suit for the match! Put Mike Thor or somebody in there and nobody will ever know the difference.

A good match turns into a great brawl. It's a shame something this unique doesn't have more of a reputation nationally, especially since I think this aired on ESPN nationally (I could be wrong about that). The one thing I thought was off is that Kerry seems to get lost a little towards the end of the brawl, blatantly locking up with Borne to call some spots since he doesn't know what to do, but that's a minor quibble and this is a great fight. Looking forward to seeing more of this feud.

Oh, and to build on Loss' point about DWB, in Foley's book, he mentioned that Cornette was trying to pitch the booking committee on the idea of bringing in Anthony to team with Cactus and be managed by Brian Hildebrand. I really wish that had happened as it would have been really interesting. My guess is they wouldn't have been pushed at all, but I bet they would have had some good TV matches.

Great tag team match. Travis is another guy who was hurt by the territories dying, as I could see him having a good career as a journeyman working all over the south with healthy, vibrant territories to work. Instead, he mostly worked Memphis and outlaws around Memphis (actually, surprised that Cornette never brought him in). Damn shame, as he's as good as a face here as he was as a heel earlier in the set. Have to say, I HATE how much heat they put on Gossett post-match. Not only is he not a worker, but he's not even athletic enough to have a manager's match, like Cornette. They put all of this heat on him, and it's very unlikely he ever gets his comeuppance. I'd rather see DWB and Tatum get the heat than the unathletic non-worker.

Everything these guys did was just smooth as silk. Really well worked match. I didn't sense a ton of hatred in this match myself, as it seemed Satanico and Dandy are still technicos, but who don't particularly like Azteca too much...or something. There is a language barrier here so I'm not sure I totally got the story, but the match itself was a ton of fun.

I've definitely felt like there was a HHH-esque quality in Lawler to bury second tier opponents like Chris Champion and Mike Awesome, which would only make them look bad when they came up short of winning the Unified title. He doesn't bury Valiant here and treats him with respect, since he has a long history in the territory, although Valiant is completely done at this point.

Never let it be said that Savage and Sherri didn't give this gimmick their all. They are playing it full tilt, completely bonkers as king and queen and it's great. It's definitely a midcard gimmick, but they are making the most of this midcard gimmick, more than I suspect most would.

So if the Hall of Fame sells out, can Bruno count that as another MSG sellout?
