I totally get the "production reason why", but it's dopey. A viewer will go , "Hey, look at the guys in costumes" for about 30 seconds tops over the course of a minute of WWE quick cut shooting and then go back to watching the ring where things are going on. It's worrying about nothing. No one is ever going to watch This TV and not notice what's going on in a shot because people in the background look wacky.

I agree...that's what I'm saying. I really think that anything any fan does in sight of the camera that production thinks might distract the viewer is going to get removed...fans in costumes, clowns, whatever. But how long is guys in costumes going to distract people during a three hour show unless they have the short term memory of a gnat with Alzheimer's?

Right on. I'm picturing ticket takers making a shitty wage having to count Daniel Bryan signs. Haha. Though I still think it was shitty about the costumes.

I dressed as 1992 Shawn Michaels at a Halloween party and got laid after. Then I sold the costume on eBay for 400 dollars. It was awesome. That's totally different. That's wearing a costume to a costume party. Being a grown adult and dressing up like a wrestler when you are going to a live event, especially when you know the event is going to be televised, is basically just trying to bring attention to yourself - it's the equivilent of standing on your chair and screaming "hey everybody, look at me!" In other words, quite lame, in my opinion. Rumor has it that it was Kevin Dunn who ordered the costumed fans removed. From everything I have heard/read about Kevin Dunn, he is a jerk and I have little to no use for his decisions and opinions on pro wrestling. However, in his capacity as a television producer, he made the right decision in this case. When you are broadcasting a live event, you remove anything from the shot that is distracting the viewer from focusing on the action at hand. What those costumed fans were doing was the same as somebody walking up behing a reporter who is doing a live remote, and making faces at the camera, or jumping up and down. They were taking away from the shot, so they were stopped from doing so. Dunn wanted people at home watching the ring, not trying to figure who the guys in the outfits were, what they were doing there, and if they were part of the show.
  5. Pro Wrestling is totally a Soap Opera. And that's not an insult. I've always felt that way.
  6. You should just do a show called Exile On Badstreet from now on just about The Freebirds. Do a half hour to an hour show on just one match and segments with guests. Basically, The Freebirds Podcast. There's a wealth of footage and things to talk about. It could be a running series. Shit, I listen to a show called Star Wars minute where guys do a podcast where each show they talk about one minute of screen time from a Star Wars movie.
  7. That's amazing. And it's not a HHH bash, it's a hilarious explanation of his character while also being a declaration of why Pro Wrestling is awesome to people who don't get it. That's the premise. Everything in there that's also an Internet trope about why people hate him is shown clearly to be part of this TV Character the host loves. And most importantly, it's really funny and it's making fun of people who still bash wrestling for not being "real". "Wrestling Isn't Wrestling" is the best tag line ever.

Yeah, that sucks. Here's a letter one of the guys posted. "As a life-long fan of your product, I was very excited to attend your show last night (Des Moines 3/16/2015). I had secured 10 tickets in the front row at $100 a ticket. By my math that is $1,000 that we paid the WWE to attend your event. The seats were in the front row. Being a huge fan, I made sure to invite 9 other rabid fans and we all made the decision to pay tribute to our favorite wrestlers and dress like them. Within 10 minutes of the show starting, we were told that our outfits were "too distracting" and to change clothes, or we would be moved. I assure you none of the members of our party were being in any way unruly or belligerent. You can watch the taping and see for yourself. We were merely watching the show. Now, I have heard rumblings in the past of people being booted from their seats for costumes, but I always sided with the WWE and assumed that those fans HAD to have done something else to lose their seats, and WWE wouldn't boot people for simply dressing up. Now I know that they indeed will do that, regardless of how respectful you are. This seems to contradict your "Be a Star" promotions (which ironically enough was running on the screen as we were being scolded by WWE producers) that seem to encourage fanaticism.I guess at the end of the day, all I am looking for is an explanation as to why you would boot fans who spend the time, energy, and money on advocating your product. Seems like just the kind of people you would want in your corner. For the record, I am still in your corner, however disappointed I may be. Thanks for your time, Matt Sheridan PS - Had we all been dressed as John Cena or Roman Reigns would the outcome have been different? Please advise so I can let the other 9 guys know for future shows"
  9. So this past weekend at Frozen Dead Guy Days, a festival I help run every year, we got to see a crowd turn on a Coffin Race team and turn them heel based purely on them being undefeated for the previous five years. I was announcing and played up how no one has been able to beat them. This year they won again, beating Team Luchadores in their final heat. The crowd totally turned on them and my announcing sorta helped. They never cheat, they just can't be beaten.
  10. Memphis from 1982-1987 is my choice.
  11. Where's "Very enthused because it's Mania and friends and family will be with me as we have a good time enjoying a show and each other's company while eating lots of pizza and wings and drinking beers" ?

Watching RAW on Hulu: - I love that J and J are the only ones who know Orton is gonna fuck them over. Noble is gold. - Big Show's goatee = someone realized "No play for Mr. Grey" - Truth is a blast on commentary. Man, Cole just coming off all wet blanket with his "Dekembe reference is dated" joke killer. Nice quick little Bryan/ Barrett match. I wanna see them have a longer one. - I gotta pick up that WWE/ Flintstones DVD for my nephew. - I hope they keep Truth on TV after Mania, I've always dug him. - Jesus , I needed half a box of tissues during the Connor segment. I couldn't care less that they took The Homophobic Warrior's original idea and did this with it. - Hah, nephew just walked in, saw Brock on TV, and said "Oh....that's the monster." 😀 - Ok, I've been reading people going on about how Heyman's promo was racist. Ehhhh....saying "one generation away from cannibal" is dopey but I don't know. Bad guys say bad things. I do want to see the payoff to who's turning off his mic. I'm hoping it's Vince in full "Hidden Power" face. -I love Trash talking Big Show, "STOP CHANTING THAT STUPID STUFF!" -The Sting voice is goofy. I do love that they made it clear that Sting wants HHH because HHH represents the type of people who "killed WCW", especially considering Hall and Nash are HHH's pals. But that voice thing, Oy vey. -Cena/ Rusev is great shit. Agreed that it's the best thing going leading into Mania. And it's my favorite WWE program in awhile. -Axelmania rules. I hope he wins the Andre Battle Royal. - Rollins' whole "Why would Randy explain his plan to my face?" bit tells me he's never seen a Bond movie. - Fuck the haters, I love Bray Wyatt and I'm digging this. When I was in my early twenties I hated Taker and all this kind of stuff but now I love it. I marked for the gong. And I like how there is a logical reason for Wyatt to want to beat Taker. And apparently Taker hates rocking chairs. -Did they censor Orton's double bird on the live RAW? Cause they showed a shot on Hulu with his hands out of frame. - I'm digging the Orton beatdown on Rollins. "How stupid are you?" "Take a picture!" I guess the Hulu show left out Wiz K. I can't stand his music but I guess there was a fun Mizdow bit I missed. Based on the 90 minutes I saw this was basically a studio show that was angle heavy and in ring wrestling light. Worked for 90 minutes but I don't think three hours of that would have been something I'd have dug.
  13. I'm a dope. I wasn't logged in on my new phone.
  14. I just upgraded to iPhone 6 and the network won't play anything on it. Anyone else have this going on?
  15. Maybe TV is different, but at house shows they all completely play to the crowd. Shit in the Rollins/ Cena match I saw last month Rollins grabbed the mic in the middle of the match to fuck with the crowd, and Cena was interacting with the kids at ringside.
  16. Yeah, you'd think people would read all the details before going on about how training is supposed to be rough, which this shit went way, way beyond. When guys like Bob Holly say "Where there's smoke there's fire", you might want to keep keep your yap shut.
  17. Dylan would obviously know more, but from everything I've read and saw in shoots and such, I'd imagine every main ROH roster guy gets trans taken care of. So, maybe Cheeseburger isn't getting trans paid for, but probably almost everybody on the last iPPV likely got a plane ticket. Same thing w/ most 'name' indy guys - it's usually $x,000 amount + trans & hotel. Wow, that's a big change from ten years ago.
  18. I'm imagining HHH leaning into Bryan's ear saying, "Just stick with me, and be patient, you're gonna be my Bret Hart." 😀
  19. So the guys in ROH have their travel paid for by Sinclair ? I mean,I get it if it's a Star they're bringing in for a few shots, but the regulars get that now?
  20. What Indys pay for travel and rooms?
  21. That's Jackie Mason. His tag partner in the Limey/ Jewish Express.
  22. Jesus, did Del Rio tower over Strong? That's almost a size difference ala Del Rio vs Rey. I do want to see that match. I totally dig Alberto and was always a fan of Strong back in the Gen Next days when I was watching ROH.
  23. I've been laughing at this thread all day since it was obviously Parv wanting to rant about Alice but he realized he had to cloak it in a thread about "Who Annoys You?" Fucking Ray Charles could see that, and he's blind AND dead. Worth it though, just to see that MMA Jarrett vid again.
  24. Wrestling was a joke long before Vince was on the scene. I love the stuff, but realistically, that's true. I'll nominate Michael Hayes. A good ol' boy racist who thinks he's not, and has probably damaged multiple careers thus. Wrestling was not a joke to me or alot of other people before McMahon took over the WWF. People in the South loved wrestling , it was part of our lives . . Nobody was dropping their pants on TV and having other adults kiss their ass. or committing their wife to an insane aslyum Wresting was presented as a sport , not as The WWF/ E is the joke , not pro wrestling. Yes, who can forget the serious sporting events featuring Lawler fighting a Frankenstein.
