Janet Jackson was a combination of so many things:
1.) War in Iraq being such a disaster that the news outlets needed something to cover to divert attention
2.) Election year
3.) Super Bowl being the highest rated TV event most years
Not that anyone saw the actual slip unless they had TIVO (which was in its infancy in 2004 in terms of how DVR's are the norm now)
The censorship that started with the Bush administration and still continues today sucks. The FCC's abuse of power in TV and radio, when all they are suppose to do is regulate frequencies and make sure that one media outlet doesn't get too powerful turned into a debate on "what is right to air on radio/TV"
If anyone listened to the old syndicated version of Don and Mike in the 90's and followed them into the 2000's, the contrast in what was "decent" and acceptable was enormous when Bush took office.
End of rant.
Rosseau is the guy from DVDVR who loves TNA.
Marty2Hotty was the guy at Wrestling Classics who was banned, co-founded VinceRusso.net, abandoned that, ran Russo's facebook page, and now is very quiet for the past couple of months.
I think she is looking at raw numbers that they can use to balance the Neilsen numbers.
"We only pulled a .8 but have another 180,000 DVR viewers who aren't Neilsen certified, so we now have a .87"
But I'm not expert when it comes to DVR's/TIVO and how they are affecting TV ratings.
Schneider and Tom watch everything as well, to top it off - most of it is the full cards. I got shit from them for not watching undercard indy shows in 2003 before You Tube made it easy to just watch the top matches without paying through the roof.
It's not a stretch to put Sano/Shamrock and Sano/Suzuki against two of Tamura's best and see them as equals. Also not a stretch to watch something like Tamura vs. Dick Vrij or Tariel and see Sano get a legit good match out of Bart Vale in 1991 before he started hitting his stride in 1992.
PayPal can be set up to accept a multitude of recurring subscription payments, so I would expect that anyone who signed up at 7.99 will stay there for life unless Dave resets it (and that would most likely be due to a computer mistake unless he wants to piss off the people who started with him first and are still with him).
What's his influence?
Superkicks?
John Walters started the double knees to the back that everyone is doing now, but he isn't influencial......or is he?
Goldberg vs. Jerry Flynn (run multiple times) were fun squashes, with Flynn getting a little bit of offense in most of the matches.
I'm nostalgic for Goldberg, but I also watched every Nitro and Thunder until the bitter end and enjoyed them more than I should have.
Oh, I misread. I thought he was blaming the entire "anti-hero" face thing on Austin - at least Meltzer doesn't give print room to him like he did to Ben Miller in the early 2000's.
Damon's not a huge star but any casual sports fan would know him for the 2004 long hair Red Sox team and his recent Yankees stint. A golf comparison to Damon may be BJ Singh, though I would argue Singh is more well known than Damon -- mostly because Red Sox nation is a myth.
