  1. The part where they had an elaborate conversation about tombstone piledrivers, tiger drivers and X-Factors, etc., in MMA, for a least a couple of minutes. That had me chuckling.
  2. I might have exaggerated that a tad, but here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzYY797iphA
  3. On the new WOR Dave and Bry interview Chael Sonnen. In a funny moment Dave asked Chael if he watched pro wrestling promos and if it helped his fighting. Chael explained how one is fake and one is real. The answer sort of elicited a short but noticable pause from the duo.
  4. Good god I hate the IWC's love for Shelton. Wont be able to move for the crying the next few days. Has anyone ever done so much in a match (MITB) and never gotten over one iota extra as a result of it. The Mickie furor is going to be a million times worse. I remember when Molly Holly was released (well, actually she quit) There were multi-page threads everywhere demanding the boycott of WWE. http://www.ctpost.com/news/article/WWE-fan...eats-472869.php
  5. Judging from the language, I'm guessing it was terrestrial radio. If it was his Sirius show or the internet, there would have been some F-bombs, and probably some C and N-bombs as well.
  6. I haven't really paid much attention to TNA since, well, ever actually. So what happened? TNA brought in Schivone in to feud with Tenay?
  7. I'm going to pretend I didn't see those last two sentences. As for the rest - it's more ammo for wrestling ≠ boxing/MMA. I don't recall the greatest pro wres show ever getting consideration from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
  8. Why is it that a pay-website that costs over $100 a year, still has tons of adverts? Though this one made me chuckle today:

    LOL Strike Force

I'd say it was closer to a No Contest than a DQ.

    WWE's coming fall

So, it's been three years, and the Benoit tragedies are practically forgotten (Who? Ben-what?) or forgiven by fans. Congress and the media long ago lost interest. A very successful WM took place last month. It's possible that Linda will at least win the primary for a US senate seat this year. So to modify Cook's original question a bit, if Benoit was little more than a speed bump for the company, is there any one thing that could happen that would actually cause the WWE to fall?
  13. I was bored so I looked at Simmon's youtube page. It's possibly noteworthy that there's almost no positive feedback. The ubiquitous pro wres fans and libertarians skew the averages probably, but it still doesn't look good for him. For example: Front page "WrestleMania VII" video comments "WWE Sex and Violence Always Sell" [video of the HLA angle from 2002, where the lesbians get assualted by Rosey and Jamal.] "Sexy Bitch" video
  14. I was listening to Hogan radio show, and he mentions something about Curt Hennig's death that sounded new. He said Jimmy Hart put Curt in a hotel away from the boys. And some unnamed wrestlers came by with "a ton" of coke and somas. We know how accurate Hogan is, but he spent a few minutes recounting other wrestler deaths and they sounded more-or-less correct (e.g. Adonis, Kerry VE, Awesome, Sherri) I looked up the WON report and found: "There has been a police investigation into Hennig's death centering on the belief that the scene of the crime was tampered with before police were called, as well as based on attempting to find who supplied the cocaine for his death. Hennig had arrived in Tampa the night before."
  15. I was more perturbed with the part about Kanyon being told he was so ugly that he needed to wear a mask to get over.
  16. It's being reported that Kanyon is dead at age 40: http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/12867/ Edit: Not to say this doesn't deserve it's own thread.
  17. I wouldn't go that far. Judging from his WM star ratings, he enjoyed the show much more than me. (I was half-comatose before the main-event.) I think it's clear he likes MMA more, though. I'm not kidding about the board, btw. David Hume never would have called the Crusades the "single most monumental folly in any nation or era," if he had been around to see that board.
  18. Alverez IS a bad influence it seems It's more the board, I think. Just the other day, Meltz got major pissed that some members were bashing him because he didn't praise Michaels' retirement enough. I mean, how dense does someone have to be to think Meltzer is biased AGAINST SHAWN MICHAELS~!
  19. I've been listening to some of the "Livecasts" recently. The one from last night had an amusing query: Caller: "I think the last caller made a lot of good points. I want to ask what your opinion on bestiality is?" WK: "(pause) That was great. Um, Jason..." Caller: "The act of fucking animals!" Powell started to give an answer but Keller cut him off and went to the next caller.
  20. Apparently Alvarez is going to Wrestlemania, while the editor of the Wrestling Observer is going to some UFC thing this weekend. What's the world coming to?
  21. I was looking at some old WONs and found that there were 'Best of the Half-Decade' (2000-2004) awards. It's sort of interesting how rapidly things change. Angle was Wrestler of the Half-Decade(!) W. Silva and Bob Sapp were also in the top ten. Benoit was Most Outstanding WoTHD. Angle is number 2. Of all the top ten Best Long-Term Drawing Cards, only HHH (no. 8) is still relevant. (Sapp placed no. 2.) Benoit managed to win both Best Brawler and Best Technical awards. The Best Promotion of the HD is defunct and mostly forgotten (Pride). WWE was no. 2; UFC, no. 5; ROH, no 6. TNA failed to place in the top ten.
  22. Babbinsack on Mike Graham pulling a knife on an employee: Um...
  23. Surely 1wrestling.com is an exception? ... In other news, on a recent Keller audio dealie, he said that Jerry Jarrett was on the phone with him in 2002 when he (JJ) proposed the TNA name. JJ told him that Russo came up with the name to trick people into thinking they were ordering porn. Not really shocking, but I don't recall JJ actually admitted to it before.
  24. I think DK talked about snorting coke rather than smoking crack with JYD and Bret. I'm not sure if it makes a big difference, but DK definitely says JYD introduced him to the crack-pipe on one memorable night in Miami. (See p. 102 of the book.)
