I nominated Fidel Sierra days ago but he doesn't have a thread. Missed it, sorry. You are going to have one awesome and bizarre list. Not sure if i'll submit a ballot. You've nominated like 20 tag teams and a bunch of solo guys.

I really disagree with your use of great.

Yeah if you are considering voting for someone (or a team) and there is three reviews up you can point to, nominate.

A highly praised match, that I don't think I have ever seen. However, after the last great AJ match (vs Joe) that I watched I need more 2005 AJ in my life. This match starts off hot with AJ diving out of the cage onto Abyss during his entrance. They then brawl through out the arena. Strange choice for a cage match, however it is the main event of a show where every match is in a cage, so they probably needed to change things up. Finally it looks like AJ is going to get into the ring and he gets the cage door slammed into his back and then viciously into his face. Way more vicious than I have ever seen. It might had been the great bump AJ took, but it looked brutal. AJ is busted open and then Abyss goes to work on the cut. This match feels more like a grudge match than any match the WWE has had in years. I miss this TNA. Before they lock themselves in the cage Abyss brings a chair, chain and a bag of thumbtacks. Abyss' destruction segment is fun with AJ being rammed into the turnbuckle which has the chain on it and just being tossed into the cage like a sack of potatoes. AJ's comeback starts by countering a gorilla press into a DDT, which looked great. His comeback is destroyed after a minute or so with an INSANE Black Hole Slam! That gets two and now the thumb tacks are brought out by Abyss. He goes for another Black Hole Slam, but AJ counters. He tries to power bomb him into the tacks, but ti's countered into a Styles Clash right onto the tacks. Surprisingly that is not the finish. AJ goes to the top of the cage, but Abyss chucks the referee into the cage knocking AJ down to hang outside. Abyss goes to the top with the chain and hangs AJ. He chokes him, but AJ counters and sunset flip power bombs Abyss into the tacks for three. This was really good, but not on the level of Joe-AJ. It felt like it went a few minutes too long at the end and the crowd brawling at the beginning could had been short. None the less, great stuff. ****1/2

Considering the roster they have, it is really sad. We could be getting some phenomenal, new match-ups & instead get three month block rehashes. It's depressing, really. I guess WWE see Brock as above making new guys though, since he's making so much. That MSG Big Show match really pissed me off. It could had been anyone, but it was a rehash of the Big Show.

Lesnar/Reigns and Lesnar/Rollins and Lesnar/Kingston weren't rematches. Lesnar's return career: vs John Cena (Extreme Rules) vs Triple H (SummerSlam) vs Triple H (WrestleMania) vs Triple H (Extreme Rules) vs CM Punk (SummerSlam) vs Big Show (Royal Rumble) vs Undertaker (WrestleMania) vs John Cena (SummerSlam) vs John Cena (Night of Champions) vs John Cena vs Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble) vs Roman Reigns (WrestleMania) vs Kofi Kingston (Japan) vs Seth Rollins (Battleground) vs Undertaker (SummerSlam) vs Big Show (MSG) vs Undertaker (Hell in a Cell) Sure no all his matches are rematches, but damn what a waste.

[2005-12-11-TNA-Turning Point] Samoa Joe vs A.J. Styles
Grimmas replied to Loss's topic in December 2005
This was during the period when I was ordering TNA ppvs and thought they were clearly the top promotion (over the horrible WWE at the time) haven't watched this match since. Holy shit this match is awesome. Joe and AJ work INSANELY stiff from the beginning. With kicks, dropkick, chops, snap suplexes, senton and a swing into the guardrail. Just super intense Joe being a murderer and AJ wanting revenge for what Joe did to Daniels. Seriously the kicks by Joe are out of this world here. Joe's control segment was so great. AJ finally gets an amazing hope spot, that had me rooting for him as he catches the face wash and shoves him off. He then goes for the discuss punch, only to get countered and AJ going back to be murdered. AJ does another great hope spot, getting himself onto the apron, but he gets caught again. Still on the apron, he finally looks to have a comeback, but his springboard his caught into a power bomb. I never realized how great AJ was at hope spots in a baby face setting, but he is superb here. AJ gets lucky and Joe goes to the floor. He can barely get up and he gathers up the strength to pull out an insane dive. He maintains his control by hitting this HUGE flying forearm with so much force, he almost out jumps him. This is a freaking war. Joe hits one of the nastiest snap powerslams you will ever see, DiBiase would be envious. AJ then tries the Rocky strategy of covering up and avoiding and letting Joe punch himself out. Joe finally seems winded as both men are bleeding from the mouth. Power Bomb by AJ gets two. They both are dead, but AJ actually dies when Joe hits THIS INSANE LARIAT for 1? Power Bomb by Joe for two, and AJ FIRES UP and Joe looks in shock. Joe then gets in the sleeper, but AJ slides out. Some big hits by Joe only to be met by a Pele Kick. AJ and Joe fight on the top and AJ finally gets him down and hits the STYLES CLASH for 2 and 99/100th! AJ tries a roll up, Joe grabs the tights and puts Joe in the choke sleeper. He fights it and gets real close to the ropes, but he passes out. Holy shit what a match. This might be the greatest match in TNA history. **** 3/4.- 12 replies

Your fondest Survivor Series memory (1987-1999)?
Grimmas replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Pro Wrestling
1989 is my favourite show ever. From the amazing what you are thankful for open to the great great great Warriors vs Heenan Family main event the whole show is just fun. It might be Gorilla and Jesse's greatest night as well. Plus it's the only night with the perfect format of 4 vs 4 all night with no stupid finals match. -
Clash of the Champions XXXVI "The Big Bang" May 7, 2001 in Greensboro, North Carolina Greensboro Coliseum Shown live on the USA Network The show begins with a video package going over the history of the Clash of the Champions we go to the announce booth where new WCW commentary team of Joey Styles and Don Callis welcome us to the show. Tonight we see the dawn of a new WCW universe here at the classic Greensboro Coliseum. Tonight we will see the return of Goldberg. We will find out who is the number one contender for the WCW World Heavyweight Title. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will make a statement about his future, but first we have the debut of Crazy MAX. Crazy MAX (CIMA, SUWA & Big Fuji) vs Rey Mysterio Jr., Billy Kidman & 2 Cold Scorpio Styles puts over 2 Cold Scorpio huge talking about his past as a former WCW World Tag Team Champion and a former ECW World Television and World Tag Team Champion and how he was one of the original innovators of high flying wrestling. Crazy MAX have a big entrance and taunt the crowd with their poses. This was a highly competitive match where everyone was able to shine. The bulk of it was a long face in peril sequence with Rey Jr. was Crazy MAX triple teamed him with triple team moves and poses. Rey made the hot tag to Scorpio who hit some amazing offense. Lots of great dives and a very high paced and exciting contest to start the show. CIMA hit Kidman with the Schwein for the win. Winners: Crazy MAX @ 13:55 Scott Hudson is backstage with Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper. They brag about being the hottest tag-team in WCW history. Tonight they will prove it by beating The Jung Dragons. United States Title Tournament: First Round Kanyon vs Rob Van Dam Joey Styles put over "The Whole Damn Show" Rob Van Dam huge talking about his ECW World Television Title reign that lasted 700 days. A lot of cool innovative moves in this one, but RVD hit the Five Star Frog Splash for the win. The promo ends with a figure appearing and spitting green mist over the camera lens. WCW Cruiserweight Tag-Team Titles Match: The Jung Dragons (Kaz Hayashi & Yang) vs Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper © Romeo and Skipper dance their way to the ring. A fun contest that helps to establish Romeo & Skipper as a top tag-team. Play of the Day by Skipper on Yang ends the match. Winners: Kid Romeo & Elix Skipper @ 5:09 Joey Styles is in the ring and he runs down what happened at the end of the final Nitro. Where Steve Corino, Barry Windham and CW Anderson attacked Ric Flair and Sting. He introduces the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair to talk about his future. Flair comes to the ring slowly and says that is not the way the last WCW on Turner Broadcasting should had ended. He knows all about double crosses and this was a good one. New guys coming in and wanting to talk out the Man is nothing new to him, but Windham his Horsemen buddy joining him pissed him off. Styles points out that Corino is a former ECW World Champion and he should not be underestimated. Flair says if Corino wants to be a wannabe Flair and CW Anderson wants to be a wannabe Anderson and they want to be a wannabe Horsemen as a group it is what it is. Flair says he may not be in his prime or competing each week, but he does have a few good fights left in him. Flair says he will get a team together and challenges Corino, Windham and Anderson to a match at The Great American Bash. WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Shannon Moore vs Shane Helms © The two former partners of 3 Count go at it here and they need each other well, countering a lot of moves. Moore put up a great fight, but the Vertebreaker finished him off. Winner: Shane Helms @ 6:41 Backstage Scott Hudson is with Booker T & Diamond Dallas Page. He asks how they could possibly be a team tonight knowing that if they win they will be squaring off for the WCW World Title at The Great American Bash? Booker says they are friends and it would be an honour to face DDP for the title at the Bash. DDP lets it be known that he is long in the tooth and this may be his last chance at the WCW World Title and he will not let that slide away. Kwee Wee vs Goldberg Goldberg dominates early, but Kwee Wee's Angry Allan persona comes out giving him a few seconds of offense, before Goldberg destroys him for good. Spear. Jackhammer. Winner: Goldberg @ 2:52 Scott Hudson jumps in the ring and asks what is next for Goldberg in the new WCW? Goldberg starts to say that he will run through anyone put in front of him, but he is interrupted by Ken Shamrock. Shamrock puts over his shoot fight pass and let's Goldberg know that he has never faced a real competitor. Shamrock challenged Goldberg to a fight at The Great American Bash to which Goldberg accepted. Decision Match: Lance Storm & Mike Awesome vs Booker T & Diamond Dallas Page if Booker & DDP win then DDP gets the WCW World Title shot at The Great American Bash if Storm & Awesome win then whoever scores the fall gets the title shot Storm and Awesome are a more cohesive team, so they have a big advantage. Booker is the face in peril which sees some nearfalls for both Storm and Awesome. The hot tag to DDP has Booker & DDP take the advantage back and a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere defeats Awesome. Winners: Booker T & Diamond Dallas Page @ 9:55 After the match Booker T and Diamond Dallas Page celebrate, but Page is seen starring at Booker T's title as the show ends. Recap: 1. I like them, but MNM, Hardys and Briscoes are easily ahead of them.

Fair for Flair: a mini-series
Grimmas replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in GWE Podcasts and Publications
I really disagree with just picking each guys top 20 matches and then adding up star ratings as a way to rank your list. That completely ignores great performances, longevity, in ring charisma, quality of opponents, etc... -
More information has come out of the Fusient WCW purchase, including the list of contracts that Fusient picked up. This list includes: Ric Flair, Goldberg, Booker T, Sting, Diamond Dallas Page, Shane Helms, Jason Jett, Crowbar, Dustin Rhodes, Sean O'Haire, Chuck Palumbo, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio Jr., BIlly Kidman, Kaz Hayashi, Yang, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Kwee Wee, Kanyon, Mark Jindrak, Jeff Jarrett, Shannon Moore, Jamie Knoble, Elix Skipper, Kid Romeo & Scott Hudson. Steve Corino, Barry Windham and CW Anderson debuted on the final Nitro and Rob Van Dam is advertised for the Clash of the Champions. Word is Crazy MAX coming in for the Clash is part of a bigger deal between WCW and Toryumon. A lot of other talent is rumoured to be coming in for WCW in the coming months. One rumour we can confirm is that Joey Styles and Don Callis will be the commentary team.

Fair for Flair: a mini-series
Grimmas replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in GWE Podcasts and Publications
It is silly to have him 4-10 on my list? Also I think Negro Casas probably has as many top notch performances against a wider range of opponents. Not to mention Lawler. not to me but to some probably, but I dont think Lawlers range was as high as Flairs, I just cant give that kind of credit to a guy who stayed in Memphis 90% of his career, Lawler will be high on my list but he won't be Flair high, Negro Casas may indeed be a better debate, but I will be the first to admit I'm not very fluent with Lucha stuff but I have seen very high praise from many others here about him He had the range of opponents as Flair did though, so how does him having a home territory even matter? -
