I don't know I've seen a fair bit of Cena and he only ever seems to hit finishers to me. It's like his entire offensive arsenal is built around the idea of the false finish. Product of the time I guess, but as I've watched more 70s wrestling, I've become less and less enamoured at the very concept of a finisher and here's a guy who seems to be only finisher. I did enjoy the match, but I had it at **** and others seem to be talking about it in MOTY terms, so I'm guessing I'm lower than most. Part of me also wonders if that was Scott Steiner circa 1992 or Kurt Angle circa 2002 throwing 20 German suplexes people might not be going so ga ga over it. But Brock seems to get a pass. But you know me, I love suplexes! I didn't think Rollins was very good in the match, and the stretch with Cena brought it down a fair bit. I had the three way at 4 stars too. It was real good, but a lot of aspects I hated. A final singles match between Brock-Cena would had been better. So, where do they go with Mania? Brock-Roman Triple H-Sting Rusev-Cena Rollins-Orton Outside of Rusev-Cena that is a shitty upper card. What are they doing with Dean, Dolph, Bryan who are the main over guys on the roster. Bray? What a mess.

Don't worry Bryan will win under the bunny outfit

How cool would it be with Rusev being alone in the ring, Rock comes out and then Rusev throws him out immediately?

Over here I am booking the WWE in 2015 and I thought this would be a good place to post my Royal Rumble card. WWE Royal Rumble, 1/25 Live from Philadelphia, PA Pre-Show Match: Divas Royal Rumble (Emma, Brie Bella, Alicia Fox, Naomi, Charlotte, Paige, Rosa Mendes, Summer Rae, Cameron, Layla, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Alexa Bliss & a Mystery diva) A normal Rumble match. The mystery diva is AJ Lee. The NXT girls look good and the final four come down to Brie, AJ Lee, Paige & Charlotte. Charlotte tosses Brie as we are out of time on the Pre-Show and the main Royal Rumble show is starting. The show starts as the final three of Charlotte, Paige and AJ Lee are in the ring. AJ is able to toss Paige which leads to a finishing sequence where Charlotte gets the win and will go on to WrestleMania XXXI to face the Divas Champion. Michael Cole, JBL & William Regal welcome us the Royal Rumble and talk about the upcoming show. Renee Young interviews Natayla, Cesaro & Tyson Kidd about their upcoming matches. 1) WWE Tag Team Titles Match: The Usos © vs Cesaro & Tyson Kidd The Usos get the victory with a diving splash on Tyson Kidd in about 15 minutes. After the match Cesaro attacks and lays out Tyson Kidd for being the loser. 2) WWE Divas Title Match: Nikki Bella © w/ Brie Bella vs Natayla Natayla gains the victory in about 9 minutes cleanly. A video package showing what happened on Raw with The Authority and how Sting has been hired by the share holders to keep the Authority in line. 3) Winner Enters the Rumble Street Fight: Big Show vs Roman Reigns A wild and out of control brawl that goes about 14 minutes. At one point Kane came out to help Show, but Sting chased him off. Roman hits the Superman punch and is setting up for the Spear, when The Stooges appear from under the ring and grab his leg allowing Show to hit the knock out blow which Roman kicks out of. Roman hits the spear and beats Show to enter the Rumble later tonight. A video package shows the history of Brock vs Cena and what this match means. 4) WWE World Heavyweight Title Match: Brock Lesnar © w/ Paul Heyman vs John Cena Brock Lesnar makes John Cena submit to the Brock-Lock in the middle of the ring cleanly in about 17 minutes. 5) Royal Rumble Match (Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Luke Harper, Titus O'Neill, Curtis Axel, Bad News Barrett, Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Goldust, Stardust, Damien Mizdow, The Miz, Ryback, Kane, Fandango, Justin Gabriel, Diego, Fernando, David Otunga, Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods, Erick Rowan, Adam Rose, The Bunny, Rusev, surpise entrant, & Roman Reigns) Number 1 is Dolph Ziggler, number 2 is Luke Harper and number 3 is Dean Ambrose. The first portion is all about Ambrose, Luke & Dolph running through people. Kofi Kingston does his wacky spot in the middle portion. Big E eliminates him and Woods. Stardust accidentally eliminates Goldust. At number 14 out comes Rusev who eliminates a LOT of guys. At 15 is Roman Reigns who teams up with all of the remaining folks Dolph, Luke, Sami Zayn & Big E to throw out Rusev. Daniel is out next and we are heading towards the finishing sequence. When we are at number 30, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Dolph Ziggler, Luke Harper, Kane, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are in the ring. After a long pause, Randy Orton comes out and goes right after Seth Rollins and throws him out. Orton goes after him to brawl through out the arena, when Triple H appears on the ramp. He says that Orton is not a part of the match and the real number 30 is SHEAMUS! Sheamus and Kane team up to toss Ambrose. The final four come down to Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Sheamus and Kane and it turns into a tag match of sorts. Bryan tosses Kane and as Kane is on the outside he throws a fire ball at Roman which allows Sheamus to dump him. At this point the rest of The Authority come to ringside as it is Sheamus & Bryan left. The announcers talk about their past. As The Authority tries to trip up Bryan, Sting appears and chases them off leaving Bryan and Sheamus alone. Bryan tosses Sheamus after a long sequence for the win. He completes the come back and will head to WrestleMania XXXI to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Title in the main event. Royal Rumble 2015 Results 1) Charlotte wins the Divas Royal Rumble by last eliminating AJ Lee. 2) The Usos defeat Cesaro & Tyson Kidd when Jimmy pins Tyson to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles. 3) Natayla makes Nikki Bella submit to win the WWE Divas Title. 4) Roman Reigns pins Big Show in a Street Fight to enter the Royal Rumble. 5) Brock Lesnar makes John Cena submit to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title. 6) Daniel Bryan wins the Royal Rumble by last eliminating Sheamus.

It seems the only match currently in my top 5 that is not mentioned is: AJ Styles vs Tetsuya Naito (NJPW WK9) I thought this was a real fun match and the second best match on the Dome show. Anyway, my top 5 list will remain in my signature through out 2015.

With Mascrita Dorada and Espectrito already nominated, Sagrada needed a nomination as well.

A fellow Toronto resident, awesome. 97 seemed like such a huge year for wrestling in Canada with the Bret Hart thing. By the way, I think you should check out SMASH wrestling if you haven't. They have some great talent and bring in a lot of talent.

Negro Casas vs Maximo, CMLL 1/11 I loved this one so much. It is also the PWO-PTBN Podcast Network Facebook page Match Club match for this week I added a lot of thoughts there and there is much discussion.

Did you know that the only reason Atlantis/Guerrero, Shield/Wyatts and Bryan/Triple H made it into the top 10 matches of the year is because New Japan put on so many awesome matches that people forgot to vote for a bunch of them? This irked me, quite an obtuse stance from Dave. The thing is, I love CMLL, think they were by far the best promotion in the world in 2014, and have come to the realization that they have been for many years now. I could see a top 10 where it was nothing but CMLL matches, that would make perfect sense to me. However, when people are submitting their top 10 lists and they are full of non-CMLL matches I don't for a second think, "They must have forgotten some of the great CMLL matches, that's the only reason they have any other promotions on their list." That's silly, and when Dave does it with NJPW it shows a hubris towards the rest of the wrestling world that is hard to stomach. Dave is by all means entitled to his opinion, but the way he so easily dismisses any promotion not named NJPW and siscredits the opinions of others who may not love NJPW, it's, as previously stated, hard to stomach. What's even worse is that even Joe Lanza wouldn't think that. Nobody would ever have that thought, but here is the most respected reporter in wrestling saying that. It just makes everything else he says less reliable.

Being a fan is one thing, stated that the awards are all going to NJ because they are so great they get over looked is insane.

Why can't Taker just be in Bryan's corner when he faces Brock? Taker teaches Bryan how to rule at Mania and keeps his eye on Heyman. Bryan wins, Taker gets some sort of revenge for the streak being defeated, everyone is happy.

Pointing out the matches makes that even more insane. I had 1 match in my top 10 of 2014 from New Japan and that is not because I forgot all the other great matches, it is because they are other great matches.

Define big shows?

It's criminal that El Torito didn't place for most underrated. What a waste of such a talent. As for someone who should had been a main eventer, but was screwed by management I would look at La Parka in WCW. Sure he did it in Mexico, but in America he could had been huge.
-
If Taker's first match back after losing to Brock is on a Battleground type ppv it would probably help more than a Mania. People are going to buy Mania anyway. Of course you would need month's of someone like Bray calling him out to set it up.
-
very strongly disagree the issue as i see it was that the streak had become TOO big to make a new star. doesn't seem like that makes any sense at first...but do you really think the fans would buy a roman reigns or even daniel bryan being the one to end it? giving that honor to a newer guy puts way too much pressure on him - he can't ever job again without it seeming ridiculous, basically, and you don't know whether he'll work out as a top star in the long run. the problem with continuing a winning streak this long is that you leave yourself with almost no credible ways of ending it. a "special attraction" type like brock (or andre in his prime, etc. etc.) is really the only good option there, as you at least know what you're getting with those guys and they haven't been as deeply mired in the 50/50 booking as the rest of the roster has. the only alternative i see an argument for is never ending the streak, which is honestly what i was expecting. Using it to turn Cena heel would had been the best option.

Nakamura had that award wrapped up in September.

Sorry, my wording was clunky. You said standards have dropped since Stephanie won this award. I listed the history of the award. Which winner had a better year than Stephanie's 2014? I think if you put 2014 Stephanie in any of those years (minus the Vince ones) she would still win the award. That is not standards dropping.
-
History of the award: 99 Vince 00 Vince 01 Heyman 02 Heyman 03 Austin 04 Heyman 05 Bischoff 06 Cornette 07 Sweeney 08 Sweeney 09 Vickie 10 Vickie 11 Ricardo 12 Heyman 13 Heyman 14 Heyman Outside of Vince which year was she not better than?

dave He really needs to watch more CMLL. I don't even mind if the top 10 should be all NJPW according to his personal taste, what bothers me is this ridiculous, arrogant, fanboyish notion that the only possible reason any non-NJPW match could make it into the top 10 is because NJPW just had so many good matches that people forgot a bunch of them. Rather than, you know, that people have different tastes and not everyone loves absolutely everything that NJPW puts out. I agree, I was just pointing out I could say the same for CMLL
