    I guess my assumption is that Trips will be trying to play peacemaker, not instigate a feud with Punk.

    I think he would have gone much further if he wasn't so ridiculously out of shape by this point. He had to have been close to 100 pounds heavier than he was 2 years earlier.

    This is my favorite discovery so far on the set. Really fun match, and it's bizarre how much of the current US indy style owes to this kind of thing.

    This is really fun in contrast to the Billionaire Ted skits airing right before it. That whole campaign just reeks of desperation looking at it now. Hogan and Savage weren't all that old and could still really go. In 1996, their runs on top were within a couple years of where HHH, Undertaker, Rey Misterio, Edge, Big Show and Kane are right now, and while they are getting older, no one really looks at them as old men to that degree. I always liked Hulk in WCW because he was a lot of fun against guys like Flair and Arn. I wish he'd used some of his chain wrestling sequences more often, because he was plenty capable of working that style. The money was in the monster challenger formula, so he didn't get to do this kind of thing very often. It's kind of a shame.

    Not bad. Typical Memphis tag, but the lead up was pretty great.

    The biggest thing I picked up with this is how "safe" most of the brawling they did was compared to what you see today. And it still worked just as well as dudes concussing themselves for money in getting over the violence.

    Seems like Meanie's only place was to allow Sabu to get some of his big spots over without completely destroying Richards. Helped to get him over as tough without getting him any more offense against Sabu than he should. I dug it.

    I don't think I ever saw the full version, but the ten minutes on the disc are a lot of fun. I can totally see Mutoh mailing it in and killing the first half though. He seemed pretty legit upset to be losing.

    This holds up very well. Crazy to see the difference in crowd for this and the title match vs the other two matches from the card. Vader slipping off the ramp while trying to intimidate Inoki during the entrance was kind of embarassing, but they played it off well. The German suplex is still awesome.

    This was a huge surprise for me. I never thought much of Yamazaki, but he worked insanely well with Hash. The kick sequence to open the match was beautiful and got me into things immediately. Good stuff.

    I really wasn't into this until the ending. I'm interested to see how NJ Juniors stuff holds up on the rest of the set. I've never been the biggest Kanemoto fan, though, so it may just be an outlier for me.

    Watching this for the first time since it aired, it now blows my mind that they built a halfway coherent match around a list of puns. The amount of time that had to have gone into scripting that is insane to think about.

    Something close to the natural evolution from those matches. Everything was bigger, faster, dumber 10 years later. Less a sense that all of these little things were adding up to the degree that they were with Crazy/Tajiri, but that feels more like a change in ring psych philosophy as a whole.

    Fuck Meltzer, that was the most fun I've had watching wrestling in a long time.
