  1. what is this John Tenta 1998 business?
  2. Totally agree. The people's elbow from a spine buster was a weird finish and Punk looked stupid lying there with his eyes shut. The baffling thing is the feed for the Rock Bottom and spinebuster is practically the same...
  3. My problem with the finish was that the elbow wasn't set up well. It's never been a flash win kinda move, it's always been something that Rock used to put someone away after he'd been beating them. For him to put Punk away with it after getting the shit kicked out of him, then set up with just a spinebuster counter didn't feel right. Everything about the follow up on RAW was good, so I can't complain, it just felt uneven. Replace the spinebuster with a Rock Bottom, so the Elbow looks more like Rock showing Punk up after laying him out and it makes more sense. That's my opinion.
  4. I cannot stand most of his work as a baby. He's such a natural slimy heel, and it just feels so phony when he's doing the edgy cool baby routine.
  5. It usually doesn't bother me, but I don't recall seeing it happen in the middle of a spot like it was here.
  6. This was a ton of fun. Blows my mind to see Dragon in there looking so sharp that far back. What the fuck was the deal with the crowd shots? They'd seem to come out of nowhere, and they completely missed the finish in the third fall because of it.

  8. Not many guys that were better at the wrestling part of the job.
  9. Guys were signed to contracts with language stipulating they'd be paid per appearance, with the amount depending on the house, placement on card, etc. So they were still bound by a contract saying they'd only work for WWF, but weren't guaranteed an amount of money. They were willing to take that deal because it was more exposure and the possibility of more money.
  10. He started snoring, and you can hear someone in the background saying "Jerry... talk to me..."
  11. Yeah, you originally freaked me out when you said that weight, because I couldn't picture Iceberg being that much bigger than the last time I watched him.
  12. Giggity.

  15. Kozina was really pretty good back in the day, but the early 2000 indy explosion kind of left him behind. We spent a good 15 minutes talking about guys from the NW scene on Friday night and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy who loved what he did and enjoyed talking about it with people who cared. It's difficult to reconcile that with what happened over the rest of the weekend. Shit, every one of them were fantastic to have in the locker room on Friday, even Davey, other than spending a lot of time bragging about his... conquests.
  16. The situation has been resolved. Not sure how, but that's what Jeremy says. And I'd love for us to bring Eddie in, but I'm guessing trans from the NE is probably too heavy for a guy at that level.
  17. Of course it's "about money". Nearly everything comes down to money. What he's saying is ultimately he doesn't care about the money because he can afford it and life goes on. He's saying the reason he's getting word out now is he wants everyone to know these dudes are scam artists.
  18. No, it's about four professionals taking advantage of a promoter that never had to deal with this before. There's a big difference between compensating someone you told didn't have to show up and having those people show up, tell you they're going to work and run off with the money. If you can't tell the difference, I don't know what to tell you. It's about respect and professionalism.
  19. So you're just arguing semantics and don't have a real point.
  20. I can tell you he had every intention of compensating them for travel had they not shown up. There were a lot of hot heads yesterday, though, so who knows what was communicated. From what I was privy to of the text conversations through the day, both sides probably could have handled everything better.
  21. Pearce is a great dude. One of the most professional guys I've ever encountered in a locker room.
  22. From the promoter on FB
