  1. Now there's a show I'd like to see. Even moreso than the bizarro-world matchup of Lawler/Fujinami, I can't even imagine what a Devine/Nagayo match would look like. Candi is like the southern dollar-store version of Moolah, progessively leading the way with the laziest of hair-pulling and snapmares, while Chigusa is the prototypical Joshi superworker. Did this make tape? EDIT: also, thanks for typing up that whole steroid essay. How many of Dave's questions were eventually answered definitively, would you guys say? Clips of Candi v. Chigusa from the Cotton Bowl on the 15th made an AJW commercial tape called Chigusa: World Revolution. A nothing match as you can imagine.
  2. Rumor has it, one of said women was Terri Runnels. I first heard the gay rumor on New Jack's first RF shoot and then I believe Missy Hyatt of all people dropped Terri's name in the mix.
  3. November 15, 2006 issue is the start of the book review/history of WCW. It goes 5 1/2 pages w/ to be continued... November 20, 2006 - this is the following weeks issue and it picks up with another 5 1/2 pages and another to be continued. November 27, 2006 has an additional two pages which is now more of a WCW history piece than book review. December 6, 2006 issue returns with 3 1/2 more pages after taking the previous issue off. It ends just before '99 gets going, but that's the end of the history of WCW as Dave moves on.
  4. Sharon Sidello being Fifi was a false rumor. I guess my sarcasm didn't shine through on that but the whole Sharon Sidello rise in the company was pretty interesting. Sharon Sidello was Ole's girlfriend, but wasn't Fifi. Fifi was Wendy Barlow. (Spelling may be off on the last name)
  5. Found the following on Dan Ginnetty's List: Joshi #156 – TV shows JWP documentary: Wrestlers training, shopping, daily life, etc. + clips (Sato vs. Kandori) Joshi Mix - Volume 193 [4hrs] -JWP Handheld 1987 Jackie Sato vs Shinobu Kandori (end cut) The first is probably Kandori's debut, but the second my very well be the match in question. The hand held on that same tape is from Oct. 1987 so it's feasible that this is the 7/1987 match.
  6. Really? I thought it was February 1986? When the belt "changed" hands at Starrcade 1985 it was still the globe belt. He didn't reveal Big Goldie on television until February (maybe taped in January) around the time of Battle of the Belts 2.

  9. Is there any truth to this rumor or is it DVDVR sleaze thread tomfoolery? I don't get it. Could someone explain?
  10. The late 1985 Dundee heel turn is perhaps one of the best in history. It was made that much more sweet by what followed for the next 10 months. Without a doubt, it was Dundee's best run of his career.
  11. Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling Trailer Beefcake and Knobbs as trainers.

  16. Just a thought ... War Games? Punk/Cena/Cryme Tyme v. JBL/Edge/Hawkins/Ryder
  17. The only two people to pin Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart on two, consecutive PPV's were: Arn Anderson (Summerslam 1989 (Bret), Survivor Series 1989(Shawn)) and Sid Vicious (Survivor Series 1996 (Shawn), In Your House "It's Time" 12/96 (Bret)) and, as we all know, Arn and Sid share another wrestling story as well ...
  18. While I have in the past and still do occasionally, I really dislike watching wrestling in groups. I find I get more out of matches watching alone. I'm the same way with movies and, for the most part, television. I also dislike dictating into a recorder. I think watching it a couple of times and rewinding is the best method. Thanks for your thoughts.
  19. Just wondering what methods you use to review a show or match. Do you watch and then type out your thoughts later? Do you record comments on a tape recorder? Do you write as you are watching? Every time I decide to review a show/match I always find it difficult because I either forget what I want to say after the match is over or I get distracted from the match by "reviewing" it as I watch it. So what do you find is the most effective method without losing quality?
  20. Over on Crazy Max an accurate list of 5 star matches in the 80's (as rated by Dave) is being worked on but 1985 is the year we can't verify since I don't have any issues other than the 1984 yearbook (1/10/85 issue). Anyone who has the set and is willing to go through and extract any matches Dave rated 5 stars it would be most helpful. There are only 20 issues to go through for '85. No real rush but any help would be appreciated. One match that has been listed but isn't verified is: Tiger Mask II vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi (All Japan 3/9/85) Although their 6/12/85 match won that years MOTY. Other possibilities I'm thinking: Devil Masami v. Chigusa Nagayo (8/22/85) Jaguar Yokota v. Lioness Asuka (8/22/85) Ted Dibiase v. Hacksaw Duggan (No DQ, Loser Leaves Town, Coal Miner's Glove on a Poll, Tuxedo, Cage match ) (3/22/85) And possibly others from Mid South, AJW, AJPW, and NJPW especially. Thanks!
  21. While going through WON's from the 1980's I came across another Luger v. Steamboat match that was rated * * * * 3/4 from 7/11/1989 in Chicago by a reader. I know nobody has had any luck locating the 7/22/1989 match from Philly (Dave rated it * * * * 1/2) but possibly the Chicago one can be tracked down?
  22. An example: Workrate Cru I've lurked around wrestling boards for nearly ten years and there are names you constantly run across, but I never hear anyone mention these guys. When I first noticed them (2000ish) I thought they were arrogant asshole's and I'm surprised I've never heard any criticism of this site or praise for that matter. I see that Snowden does MMA commentaries on the WON site but as far as wrestling goes ... he seems M.I.A. This is just a start, I was curious of thoughts/memories of those who've came and gone in regards to wrestling boards/chats in the past 12 or 13 years.
