Kevin Nash wrestled under a mask as The Master Blaster on that Harrisonburg show. BIGGEST drop-off ever of WCW false advertising: Roanoke, VA show on 3/26/93. Local wrestler Doug Ward (aka Doug Gibson/Marvin Ward) wrestled Brad Armstrong, replacing Chris Benoit. That show was doomed to fail as Vader also no-showed & they had Sting win a battle royal instead.

For those that didn't know, Cornette was in discussions with WWE over the Lost Mid-Atlantic films set before he released it. I talked to him at a convention in April 2014 and he told me that he was converting the stuff & would be releasing it if WWE didn't give him what he felt it was worth. Then by August he was selling them. Given what he charges I'm pretty sure he made the right decision.

Very enjoyable show, you guys have really hit your stride. Interesting to hear other perspectives & side stories from Fanweek 95. Is the Masa Horie shot video online? -
The Jim Cornette Experience
WrestlingPower replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Wow, I didn't realize Alice had like quit the internet. I thought it was just Jim's show. Can't say I'm all that upset though. I agree she always seemed kind of self-important & thought people cared what she had to say. One good thing that should come out of this is MSL seems to try to steer Jim back toward wrestling whereas Alice kind of enabled Jim to go further down the rabbit holes on his religion & politics rants. -
I didn't see the show this weekend but wanted to chime in as I feel ROH really needs a fresh coat of paint at this point. It seems like a good opportunity if Bennett & Taven are leaving and questionable futures of Lethal, Redragon, AJ, etc. to bring new guys into the mix. Whether they will do that is highly unlikely as I saw tweets over the weekend of the family atmosphere & how many "good guys" they have in the locker room, implying that there's no reason to change things up. Top 5 guys I'd like to see in ROH (in no particular order): Andrew Everett, Trevor Lee, AR Fox, Kenny Omega, Sami Callihan. And I don't watch Evolve so haven't seen much out of the heavily pimped guys there. I read the results of the PPV and the TV and I unfortunately fall into the camp of maybe being "too smart for my own good". I read these match results & I can't help but second guess the booking of who's going over & what they are building for the future instead of saying "that sounds like a good match" and being done with my analysis. I think we've reached the point, I know I have, where I'm kind of tired of hearing everyone bellyaching & second guessing the booking of stuff. Promoters & bookers are going to do what they want to do regardless of what any fan says, so it may be time for us to stop assuming they are just going to miraculously listen to us and do what we want. If you don't like it, it's much easier to just move on and not worry about it. Anyway, all I know is PWG and Evolve lately have a lot of buzz and don't run a lot of storylines. No one argues that ROH presents some good, athletic wrestling, but there really seems to be a level of excitement missing there and something could be done about it, you would think.

The Jim Cornette Experience
WrestlingPower replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
She quit, it was explained that even though it was clear that she disagreed with what Cornette said, she thought just being a party to a show with him could be taken as tacit approval & she didn't want to do it anymore. -
The Jim Cornette Experience

Alice Radley has quit the show over Cornette's Muslim rant last week. So for those anti-Alice, it could be time for you to come back to the listenership. I guess we will see how much religion & politics is on the show going forward without her as it really seemed like they fed off each other on those topics. -
Best thing, all time, all my life! Kudos, I've been wanting to hear stories like this of the early tape trading days for years. Also glad to know you 2 are such good friends with Jim to maybe grease the wheels on seeing what some of this long, lost footage may be. But that may be a topic for another forum.

LOVE the Champ Forum talk, I loved that show. The public access show that Dean & I ended up doing was sort of inspired by that. At the time I think I knew whether or not Music & Sports Channel turned into Gaora, I think it did as I think I have a tape of where the last Champ Forum was then replaced by Gaea TV. Was it ever revealed who the masked guy was on that show?

I'm up to the SMW section. I'm not aware that the SMW TV subscription service ever actually happened to the point that this may be the first I've heard of it since that time. I know for sure that you could order individual TVs thru their merch "catalog" and that Brian Hildebrand made a big effort to update that section in particular after taking over from O'Connor. There was enormous demand on the trading market for SMW TV. After I moved out of an area that got the TV and started getting it from Tim Whitehead, I know that he supplied a half dozen or more people with it. Of those, certainly myself, John McAdam & Lynch further supplied more.

Re: Charlotte venues The Park Center later was renamed Grady Cole Center. SMW ran there in 1995 (famous Gangstas/Thugs match from SMW project that I filmed occurred there). I found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grady_Cole_Center Bojangles Center must be what Rob was trying to think of. I'm assuming that's the former Charlotte Coliseum but not sure.

Shoots Review and Preview thread
WrestlingPower replied to BruiserBrody's topic in Megathread archive
I watched the "Back to the Territories" with JJ Dillon recently and I'm about 1/2 way into the Jim Duggan one. To me they aren't essential viewing whatsoever but are more appealing for the production of the Cornette add-ins to the interview itself. The Dillon one has a few stories I hadn't heard before but both Cornette & Dillon have been so prolific in podcasts, shoots, their books, etc. that those along with the Good Old Days documentary, a lot of this is stuff you'd already know. Like I said aside from a couple road stories, not a whole lot new here unless you want a sampling of the Cornette Mid-Atlantic films matches that are used here. The Duggan one is decent as Duggan is a good story teller & doesn't need a lot of prodding to tell stories. He's not nearly as history & detail oriented as Cornette, he's more of a "fill in some colorful stories" guy in between Cornette giving facts about the territory. Also Duggan hasn't been overexposed in this world either so he has some fresh stuff to say. As with 99% of these things anymore, I'd recommend a stream, download, or $1 disc kind of purchase if you are interested.
