  1. We are getting closer to the moment.
  2. Test is systematically defeating each member of the Posse and is paving the way where he can attack Shane. Good work and he made his offense look impressive here. *1/2
  3. Rock throws out the first pitch at Three Rivers ballpark in Pittsburgh.
  4. D-Lo is able to resist the puppies. Say what you will about Godfathers IC title reigns but D-Lo isnt much better in retrospect.
  5. I thought Hogan was Lee Marshall at first on commentary. Ending looked fun to me and I thought the powerbomb from Nash always looked impressive with them going to black right after it happened.
  6. By far the best stuff Savage has been involved with this year. He was able to get some heat on Mona by being a prick to her and actually gain some sympathy to Rodman.
  7. KISS is coming to Nitro. I can say as a 13 year old, this didn't excite me at all and now it does even less.
  8. I was kind of out on this as well as the only bit that made me really laugh involved Tirantes. The action in spurts was good and energetic but everything else including the chasing around the ring and stuff inside the ring felt very disjointed and unconnected from each other. **1/2
  9. Quick promo of Danny wanting a piece of Brickhouse.
  10. Kenny Bolin having Bolin Services and BS written out on the suitcase is fairly clever. Still, I havent seen a whole lot out of OVW since the Cornette take over.
  11. Rico shown on American Gladiators got him over as an athlete because he smoked the competition. The clips of the feats of strength stuff really showed he had good charisma and energy that looked like it could transition into pro wrestling.
  12. Would like to see what you think of Hase vs. Muto from September 1993, pretty stark difference to the 12/92 match.
  13. Agree on the finish but hey it at least works at establishing something new. Match before was about what I expected from these two, which is to say it was really good. Hase is able to throw some fiery exchanges at Tenryu who of course will fire back. ***3/4
  14. It is starting to feel more like ECW but still not one of the things I am looking forward at all in regards to the yearbook segments.
  15. A decent enough watch with a pretty shocking upset for me and the crowd at the time with Shamrock winning.
  16. A straight spectacle type match but one done extremely well. Hashimoto is a monster in this and shows how Muta could have a chance against the bigger man by taking some chances and paying dearly for them. The spin kick to the outside that misses still looks amazing. Afterwards, we get some weapon usage that gives the match a distinctive and hate filled feeling that was uncommon for New Japan heavies at the time. Kudos to Hashimoto. ****
  17. I liked this as a booking piece of work and something that could have been done really hokey and lame but kept it all together. Certainly blood and perhaps overall hate could have helped things. We didn't see any viciousness from nash that he displayed in the match vs. Shawn for example and that would have been welcome in this type of environment. Sting seems justified for what he did and WCW has to be left searching for answers and the power of the NWO. A very unorthodox War Games that is a good match, but one nonetheless. ***1/4
  18. Match looked hot. Kind of a weird match in retrospect as you don't want to job out either guy at this point. Savage is pretty dumb chasing the guys backstage, but then again logic was never Macho Man's strong suit.
  19. Such an awesome package of everything that led to this moment. If this was before the PPV, it would have been tough to resist the instinct purchase just based off of this rundown. WCW really feels at a peak of their powers but production wise and creatively.
  20. Feud looks good but man we aren't getting much in the studio stuff from around this time as they really separated these guys right as they started going after each other.
  21. I like Takada more than some around here and even then he showed me a good bit in this match. It again starts off with a slow burn but just builds and builds to a fitting climax that felt draining to the viewer. It was nice to see the matchup between these two as while it isn't a pairing I would really be clamoring for, I am glad we at least got it with both men being athletic enough to still deliver an engaging contest. ****
  22. Good documentary style that seemed ahead of its time in 1996. There was of course some usual funny carny bits from the ECW guys but this was presented well enough and in a measured light that the Journal was able to get across their point without seeming biased and let the viewer come to their own conclusion.
  23. Another ECW marketing ploy exploiting the fact that something is supposedly too "extreme" for them to show.
  24. DiBiase fits here and looks cooler at this moment than any previous time of the 90's. He speaks well and doesn't intrude on this vibe that these guys wouldn't mind being shown the way by big Teddy.
  25. With the rain and everything this was perfect. The way it was filmed was a rare bit of genius by WCW production as it is really tough to distinguish that this is not the real Sting. WCW was so great at this point and the paranoia is running wild for the viewer going through all of this stuff.
