  1. Not a bad match but between the hotshotting and the construction of the desk distracting the moment of Road Dogg winning, this is a failure all around.
  2. This had no chance of being successful at all and felt like the wrong time and place to be debuting.
  3. Nice commercial and filmed near where I live.
  4. So this is a weird ass match where again the in ring work was fine and both were working hard but the overall narrative is a complete mess. A double turn that people don't get. TOrrie and David still involved. The tire iron. Charles Robinson. Everyone is just too convoluted and intertwined to make any sense of it. WCW does has the Starrcade 97, Finger poke and other seminal moments to point to their decline but this seems like one for sure because the effort and work is there of the people inside the ring but the booking is off and the two people that get praised for that hard work in the ring are to blame for some of the stuff outside of it. Hogan moreso than Flair but its all just a mess. **1/2
  5. This seemed decent enough. No idea if this was built at all beyond the dumb ass Buff/Scott skits. Booker gets a win but really these guys both feel above the tv title and feel like they have been in neutral for a bit now.
  6. Decent action and Arn gives an assist to give Benoit/Malenko the tag straps.
  7. The Giant Killer gimmick is over. Sigh. WCW has been all over this disc and while it has been fascinating at times, it also has been depressing to watch.
  8. Everything segues into each other but not much of it resonates. I really miss the Austin videos that we got vs. HBK last year. I really don't see based on this yearbook how people enjoy the build to the main event at 15 as it has been pretty poor overall.
  9. We hear the experts talk about how tough Bart is and his chances vs. ButterBean at Mania.
  10. Well this was embarrassingly low rent. Im surprised Nash didn't throw this on the first hour of Nitro.
  11. Glad to see Hayes didn't turn. Hales gets himself a haircut.
  12. Taka out dicking Crazy Max was awesome. This match felt like a great passing the torch in some ways. THe young guys had flashier offense and double team moves but the old guns made a fiery comeback and had some tricks up their sleves with the ending dives and pinfall. Really fun stuff overall. ***3/4
  13. Hot angle and a feud I have really enjoyed. Scorpio and Santo getting blooded and having their masks ripped off really set the stakes for the upcoming rubber match. Very effective at setting up the crowd for the apuestas match. ***
  14. This was an awesome match with wrestling mixed with stiff strikes. I was impressed by Greco and Yone here. Especially Yone as he is so maligned currently and he did a great performance here and looked as shocked as everyone else when he got the pin on Ishikawa. Every Battlarts match has been a hit in 1999. ****1/4
  15. Weird angle and most seems to be here for visual looks with things burning. Bossman vs.. Taker isn't exactly a hot angle going into Mania.
  16. The Vince/JR relationship is one of the weirder ones in WWF/E history. JR was good here being the disgruntled prick and he seems so genuine here compared to everything else that the crowd sides with him.
  17. Really great match that was only a couple of more minutes away from reaching MOTYC level for me. Opening shine of LIger and Wagner was good and they rocked this. Ohtani/Kanemoto settle down and they really could have been one of the better tag teams in history with a few years of domination as they compliment each other well and are just alike to work great as a team but different to differentiate themselves. They look strong here picking up the win and it feels especially as a unit they are superior to Liger. ****
  18. Annoying commentary aside, this is a really fun match that built up and had Flair playing to Goldberg's strengths which worked better at this stage in Flair's career than when he was the ace NWA champion. The camera angle on the spear was nicely down. Finish was what it was. I would have liked to have seen a big signature PPV match between these two. **1/2
  19. Flair vs. Goldberg feels huge and they are wasting it away on a go home show. David looked nervous as hell out there. Flair has been such a good face lately that while he does seem to be loving heeling it up some vs. Goldberg and he does well, it is sad to know what is coming around the corner.
  20. I have liked some of the WCW experiments in the past like the NWO takes over Nitro set thing from late 97 but this was a warped, weird trip to watch. Hogan promo starts out running down Flair. This was fine but starts to feel kind of same. We get more teases of the turn coming showing how power hungry Flair is and how he foregoes his family for his ego and being the champion. Hogan and Nash make fun of Flair's promo and regroup. They get in some funny lines but this is not the way to sell this match and certainly not the way to set up a face turn for Hogan. Buddy Rose is name dropped along with Landell. Luger vignette for some reason. The cop stuff was dumb as shit. Basically a youtube sketch for the heels to have some fun. Nash vs. Rey package but he is with Hogan through all of this so I guess he isn't too worried about Rey. Rey had a line that really annoyed me of saying all of a sudden its not about his mask anymore. Wilson does look good in the shooting range, Ill give her that. Oh god, its Ms. Robinson, I had tried to block that nonsense from my head. THis was pointless as it could be and their plan B seems way too contrived.
  21. Good debut for Kurt showing his patriotism and putting the boots to Tiger Ali Singh. Little did we know that he would become the greatest wrestler of all time.
  22. Fun match, did we get some clipping here? I didn't notice it but the time stamp was way off. Anyway this had good action and kept a frantic pace without feeling too convoluted. Final with Tenryu coming out and starting shit was a nice extra. ***1/2
  23. I was worried with the way this was edited after the ECW promos that we didn't get this. Thank God we do as I'm looking more forward to this than Rock vs. Austin. Huge Grandma chant for Mae and she gives Cory a little lip too. After watching Morell do the same move in 1996 USWA, fake heart attacks are following my watching this morning. Mae sells it well and the crowd quiets down before Mae does the turn. Cory's "I CANT BELIVE YOU" really puts this over. Lawler teases punching her and Mae flees. Lawler hypes the show tonight and calls Mae grandma again. Billion Stars. 1/4*
  24. Taz is intense and the promo is good following him around the Red Hook section. Gritty and true.
  25. Better promo than the one before it but still not great and the theme is New Jack is getting a lot of people to kiss his black ass.
