  1. Fun match full of shit but entertaining bullshit. I always like these types of matches to mix things up and show some variety from the competitors. We now know Bubba has good comedic timing at times but this was the first instance as his dance off was really good. Once this got going, the action wasnt bad either and proved to be a good defense for the champion of the company. ***
  2. So yeah, Ventura being edited makes the commentary suck here as Tony sounds weirdly alien. The match was a good, gritty fight but not a whole lot of substance to it, just straight potatoes and hard hitting shots. Looking forward to the rematch. ***
  3. We get a tar and feathering to amp things up and keep the feud going. Morton vows to whip that fat ass in a good enraged promo for him. This feud still has some legs to it.
  4. So did he legit blow out his knee or not? I thought it was Liger 94 J Cup covering of a botch. Anyway, this match was a ton of fun and a good break from the AJ heavy stuff we have had the last little bit on the set overall. Owen looked good on all of his high flying moves except the aforementioned one and Bam Bam provided a good base. Funny hearing the commentary here knowing what is going on in Memphis and also good to see the seeds planted for the Bret vs. King feud. **1/2
  5. First Macho's green screen promo was great putting over the cage match on Monday (give me a ticket now) and giving a warning to Eddie Marlin. King is out to dispute Macho's claims and here comes Sherri. Sherri gets some great lines and even some sarcastic digs at Lance and Dave. Lawler has enough after a slap and is going to piledrive her when Savage runs out from a time machine and gives a great beatdown. Awesome sequence overall.
  6. I love this feud so much. Here KObashi really tears Hansen's arm apart for the first ten minutes adding credibility to himself and creating an interesting narrative to differentiate their matches. LImb work is really missing in modern day at this writing New Japan. The second half of the match with Hansen hitting hope spots and trying to hang on was a ton of fun and that finish is holy shit great and clever. This match is awesome and probably wont make my top 20 for the year which shows how loaded a year this year is overall. ****1/4
  7. Another great ten minutes of action and unfortunately no full version exists of this to the best of my knowledge. This did get me to anticipate their singles match at the end of the year because Kobashi really feels like he has a significant chance at beating Kawada and Kawada still believes he can bully Kobashi around which provides a great contrast.
  8. This was more spotty and not as good as Taue vs. kawada but the clips shown were very good and Kobashi was fiery going after Misawa. Misawa is really becoming and embracing the stoic character he will have throughout his career.
  9. A beautiful match full of counters like PeteF said but done brilliantly. The action kept building and every nearfall felt significant but not excessive in the kickouts. I loved Kawada's footwork and he completely delivered some nasty kicks to taue as Taue tried to hang on. The finish was dramatic and I had forgotten this actually went to the draw as they had me locked in right into the bell. Not ranking until I see full version but this feels like a top 25 match of the year.
  10. Pretty mundane action for me. When I get the handheld, I will see if my opinion changes but this felt long even with the time given.
  11. Really strong show and I can always sit under the learning tree as Kris goes on about someone historically. One thing I would suggest for these snapshots going forward for the GWE project is comparing him to other individuals. For example, I would have liked to have seen how Zbysko would measure up with the panel vs. Bruno, Tracy Smothers, Tommy Rich and Christian. I thought about this on the ride home and felt comfortable saying Larry will probably be somewhere between 85-100 on my overall list.
  12. Awesome match that took its time and really developed into something special. There were a few spots that were annoying mostly Kuroda delayed selling of the suplexes but overall this was built really well and Hayabusa especially had a great performance from someone I am usually no high on. These Japanese matches are really saving the yearbook for me in the past couple of months time wise. ****1/4
  13. I would really die to see all 31 minutes of this. The action we got progressed well so as long as we had interesting mat work to start and nothing egregious like tons of limb work that was blown off, I see this being a sure fire MOTYC and would probably have it at #2 overall based on what I project the beginning section to be. The finish was sublime and Kanemoto has rose the ranks and looked better and better vs. Liger as the years have gone on. Here he picks up his biggest win.
  14. Complete bizarro world stuff with tag partners hating each other. Hogan being a tweener. Nash is working really heelish vs. Goldberg and still doing a lot of heel things behind the scenes. Everything is just weird and bizarre and even though this is a big time match and the work is fine, I get a weezy feeling watching it all and my brain cant really process everything. The other thing is that the NWO is essentially dead as Buff/Steiner/etc are non factors and we essentially just have Hogan and Nash as a team currently. Finish was really abrupt and not my preferred method of leaving the show. **1/2
  15. This could be one of the better sub 10 minutes of all time and really feels like the type of match people think of when Nitro "always" had great cruiser matches. The action was relentless and the spots were just great with the commentary and fans becoming more invested as time goes on. Rey could have really brought something extra to the Cruiser title with his mask if given the chance. Glad to see this highlight amid a bunch of awful stuff in WCW. ****
  16. Here is the symbol burning scene. I am not a fan of wrestling in real context most of the time and this was an example.
  17. The cops do show up finally and Taker burns his symbol in the yard.
  18. What are you trying to seduce me Ms. Robinson. FUCK OFF. Thats the problem in using a woman doing a man's job. Nice message to send Kevin. This was so bad and awful. Hilariously bad booking and producing by Nash.
  19. Disco as the lackey of an organization isn't awful but doesn't really fit the Wolfpac vibe. Anyway this was really funny and Tony enjoyed it tremendously. Oil of Olay 4 Life.
  20. I have a soft spot for Cat even though he shouldnt have been close to having this much airtime.
  21. Look at that, put four big time workers into a main event and let them do their thing and you have a fun match and it does more for Mania than anything else so far. This showed some of the chemistry Austin and Rock would have with each other and the pairings for Mania do feel fresh. This gave me a slither of hope after being letdown with the last two weeks of WWF programming. Cole getting in a potshot on Uncensored was kind of weird. **3/4
  22. HHH promo was fine but I agree that he is in kind of a weird spot. A little like Booker T and Scott Steiner in WCW currently. This reveal was good as I had forgotten about this and it fooled me so kudos for that even though the end game is pretty dumb overall.
  23. Willie Green huh, I didn't remember that at all. Good skit setting up Shane's match for Mania.
  24. This was good and funny skit that was harmless and still made WWF look mainstream all at once. Really the highlight of US wrestling the last week as sad as that sounds.
  25. The Ministry is at the McMahon residence waiting for her. Nice digs Vince has here.
